Carol Jesse Fleming, age 85, of Woodbine, MD, died Thursday February 13, 2003 at his home.

He was the son of the late John B. Fleming and the late Amy N. Leatherwood Fleming. He was born November 8, 1917 in Woodbine, MD.

He was a Retired accountant for Esskay Meat Packers for 25 years. Lifetime member of Morgan Chapel U.M. Church in Woodbine and he was a self-employed nurseryman.

Survived by sister Marjorie F. Pickett of Woodbine and the late Stanley S. Fleming and the late Mark W. Fleming.

Survived by 4 nieces; Jeanie Edmonds, Barbara Sutton, Gaye Grimes and Carolyn Ringley. And sister in law Dorothy Fleming of Woodbine.

Funeral Service will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday February 18, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Arthur Monroe of Morgan Chapel U.M. Church in Woodbine Officiating

Interment will be in Morgan Chapel U.M. Church cemetery in Woodbine, MD

Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

Colin A. Demetriou
20, of Westminster, MD
1983 - 2003

Colin Andrew Demetriou, age 20 of Westminster died Thursday July 17, 2003 in Mount Airy of injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born May 8, 1983 in Manchester, MD the son of the late Susan Rich Chase of Westminster and the Philip Demetriou of Baltimore.

He worked as a carpenter for Tradesman International, but his real love was working with animals, especially Reptiles. Surviving in addition to his dad are Grandparents: Michael and Betty Demetriou of England, Grandmother Betty L. Rich of Eldersburg and his brother Ian M. Demetriou of Baltimore. Also resided with Aunt and Uncle Dean and Christine Boyden of Taylorsville

A memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday July 22 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, Maryland Ave. and Preston St., Baltimore, MD (Near the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall) Friends are welcome.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Westminster Baptist Church Building Fund, 354 Crest Lane, Westminster, MD 21157

Janis Imants Skuja
59, of Mt. Airy, MD
1943 - 2003

Janis Imants Skuja, age 59, of Mount Airy, MD, died Tuesday July 1, 2003.

He was the husband of Donnie Collins Skuja of Mount Airy. Born September 3, 1943, in Jelgava, Latvia, he was the son of the late Janis Teodors and the late Erna Reinvalds Skuja.

Janis served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964 and was a member of the National Guard from 1965 to 1971. He earned his bachelor's degree from The University of Baltimore in 1972.

He was a member of the Latvian fraternal organization, Tervetia. He was a retired employee of Verizon.

In addition to his spouse and her daughter Wendy Spratt, he is survived by a brother, Dr. Andris Skuja of Oakland, CA; a sister, Laima Skuja of Fort Collins, CO; nephews, Kalvis Kraemer, Teodors Skuja and Lukas Skuja, niece, Ligita Kraemer; and aunt, Meta Skuja of Latvia.

Arrangements for a memorial service are pending.

Joseph A. "Buck" Abell, Jr.
72, of Winfield, MD
1930 - 2003

Joseph A. "Buck" Abell Jr., 72, of Winfield, died Sunday February 9, 2003 at his home. Born June 26, 1930 in Carroll County, Winfield, MD, he was the son of the late Madeline Holston Abell and late Joseph Arthur Abell, Sr. He was the husband of Joscha Abell.

His family was among the first settlers in the State of Maryland; St. Mary's County and were founders of the Baltimore Sunpapers.

He was a 1948 graduate of Mt. Airy High School where he was class president. After high school he served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was self-employed as a school bus contractor and farmed for many years through out Carroll County. He went on to be the owner and operator of Abell's Home Center in Mt. Airy and was currently Owner/Operator along with his wife of Bloom Valley Senior Care Assisted Living Center in Winfield.

He was predeceased by sisters; Mary Walsh, Betty Wisniewski and Jane Morgan and brothers Thomas and Robert Abell and a granddaughter, Tanya Michelle.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter and son-in-law Danita and Wendell Bly of Winfield, sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph C. and Donna Abell of Ocean Pines, MD., D. Scott Abell of Winfield, Patrick and Michelle Abell of Mt. Airy and Chris and Julie Abell of York Springs, PA. A brother and sister-in-law, Francis "Johnny" and Janice Abell of Winfield, sister in law Charlotte Abell of Winfield; 13 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews

A private service will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St., Westminster, MD 21157.

Lawrence Paul Prodoehl
50, of Westminster, MD
1953-2003

Died Sunday July 6, 2003 at Bay View Medical Center in Baltimore, MD He was the spouse of Susan K. Miller Prodoehl . He was born May 15, 1953 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Mary Carroll Katzenberger Weingarten and raised by his late father and spouse the late Henry W. Prodoehl and Patricia Prodoehl Spencer of Randallstown.

Mr. Prodoehl was a Senior Claims Supervisor for Zurich of North America.

He enjoyed Scuba and Sky Diving was a licensed Pilot, An avid Baltimore Ravens fan and tailgater, and loved to travel.

Surviving besides his wife and mother are Daughter: Lauren Nicole Prodoehl of Westminster, Sister: Dr. R. Theresa Prodoehl of Harrisonburg, VA, Brother: James Carl Prodoehl of Westminster and sister: Judith A.P. James of Gamber

Funeral Services will take place on Friday July 11, 2003 10 AM at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 7200 Liberty Rd. Baltimore, MD 21207 with the Rev. Paul Heins officiating.

Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD

The family will receive friends at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 on Wednesday from 7 to 9 Pm and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7 to 9 PM .

Leo Theodore Vogelsang
75, of New Windsor, MD
1927 - 2002

Died Monday April 21, 2003 at Westminster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was the spouse of Joyce M. Pruett Vogelsang

He was born November 14, 1927 in Baltimore, MD

The son of the late Leo J. Vogelsang and the late Eleanor Shealey Vogelsang

Mr. Vogelsang worked for 42 years for Western MD Railroad and CSX.

He was a Member of the United States Marine Corps and served in WWII and Korea. Mr. Vogelsang was also a Member of the Merchant Marines from 1948 to 1951. Active Member of the crew of the Liberty Ship USS John W. Brown.

He is survived by 3 Brothers Ronald of Baltimore, Joseph of Baltimore and Eugene Vogelsang of PA and Sister Evelyn Frank of Randallstown. 3 Step Daughters: Joyce Ann Vogelsang of PA, Rebecca Jennings of DL and Sandra Currence of Winfield, 2 Stepsons: Thomas and Robert Warner both of Winfield. Also survived by numerous Step Grandchildren and Step Great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by Sister Mary Greenwalt.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday April 24, 2003 at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME, 1212 WEST OLD LIBERTY RD. WINFIELD, MD 7:00 Pm with Msgr. Arthur Valenzano of St. John R.C. Church, Westminster, MD officiating.

He was born February 22, 1955 in Baltimore, MD the son of Leslie Charles Pahl, Sr. and Mary Jane (nee Cunningham) Pahl.

He was a Vegetable Farmer.

Husband of Pamela A. (nee Boyle) Pahl of Granite.

Father of Donna Marie, Jennifer Lynn, Daniel Charles and Gregory Bruce Pahl.

Survived by numerous cousins and in laws.

Mae Elizabeth Lohoefer (nee Kirby), age 87 of Woodbine, died Friday April 25, 2003 at Westminster Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Westminster.

She was born June 19, 1915 in Baltimore, MD, moved to Woodbine in the late 1950's, the daughter of the late Will and Minnie Kirby.

She worked for Old McCormick Spice Co. in Baltimore for 5 years, which is where she met her husband Charles Lohoefer, Jr. and then worked at Wire And Assembly the early years and then Westinghouse Electric Co. in Linthicum for 9 years and then she retired to be a homemaker till going into Assisted living in late 1997.

Predeceased by husband Charles Z. Lohoefer, Jr.

Surviving are a sister Virginia Spacek of Brooklyn Park, son and daughter in law Charles III and Alice Lohoefer of Woodbine, grandson and wife Charles IV and Michele Lohoefer of Woodbine, grandson Kenneth A. and wife Lauren Lohoefer of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Step-granddaughter Tammy Cantwell and husband Chris of Woodbine and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Monday April 28, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Charles Frederick, Lutheran Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Loudon Park cemetery, Baltimore, MD

Pallbearers may include; Kenny Lohoefer, Charles Lohoefer IV, Alice Lohoefer, Bobby Gardner, Garry Bish and son Charles Lohoefer III.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM

She was the daughter of the late Maurice L. Knight and the late Mamie Schaeffer Knight.

She was born June 2, 1912 in Baltimore, MD

She was the wife of the late Thomas V. Wedge.

She was an executive secretary for B & O Railroad and USF & G.

Aunt of Michael L. Knight, Sr. of Winfield, Stephen J. Knight of Glen Burnie and Margie Knight of Salisbury.

Funeral Liturgy (Mass) will be held on Thursday April 24, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Community 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD with Fr. Paul Reich, SM officiating.

Interment will be in Loudon Park cemetery
