Shirley Irene Logue (nee Snowdon), age 70, of New Windsor, died Saturday May 17, 2003 at her home.

She was born April 13, 1933 in Mt. Airy, MD the daughter of Emma Snowdon (nee Magers) of Mt. Airy and the late Gilbert Snowdon.

She was the wife for over 50 years of the late Tommy Logue.

She worked for William F. Myers in the meat packing Plant and she was a homemaker. She was a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren in Mt. Airy.

Mother of son and daughter-in-law Dale and Sharon Logue of New Windsor, MD. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren

Predeceased by a son Wayne Logue.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren 13356 Glissans Mill Road, Mt. Airy, MD with the Rev. Wallace Lusk officiating.

Interment will be in Locust Grove Church cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM and from 10:00-11:00 on Tuesday at the church.

Shrilda Esther Barnard Pickett

Died Monday May 12, 2003 at Continuum Care in Sykesville, MD

She was the wife of the late Louis Perry, late Jesse Sirk and the late Harry Pickett

She was born July 8, 1908 in Sneedsville, TN the daughter of the late Ace and late Sarah Rhoystin Barnard. She was a homemaker all her life and loved Gardening and Cooking. She was Saved at an earlier age at Idas Chapel in Sneedsville, TN and remained a faithful member until moving to MD where she was a faithful member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, Sykesville, MD until her death.

Surviving are Children: Rev. Foster Perry, Ace James Perry, Buford Perry, Truman Carrillo, Lucille Gaudett and Joan Krickler; 9 Grandchildren: Richard Perry, Robert Perry, Sharon Perry Able, Jimmy Perry, Debbie Perry Mullinix, Donnie Honeycutt, Jeff Gaudett, Teresa Streaker, Ricky A. Green; 8 Great Grandchildren, 3 Sisters: Grace Curran, Ruth Burchett and Gladys Wolfe, She is also preceded in death by brothers Jim and Vault Barnard, 2 sisters Lonnie Dotson and Mae Seal. Also survived by numerous step grandchildren, friends and relatives.

Funeral services will take place on Friday May 16, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Mrs. Pickett lying in state from 1 till time of service at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, 2145 McKendree Rd. West Friendship, MD 21794 officiating by Rev. Clifford Bowling, Rev. Donald Shaw and Pastor William A. Phebus, Jr. Interment will be in Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday May 15, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Those desiring to make contributions may make them to Sharon Missionary Baptist Church C/O Pastor Bill Phebus, 3560 Woodbine Rd. Woodbine, MD 21797

Thomas M. Crown, age 44, of Mt. Airy, MD, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at his home.

He was born June 2, 1958 in Silver Spring, MD the son of Mary Ellen (nee Thibadeau) Crown of New Windsor and the late Bernard L. Crown, Jr.

He was a stonemason and President of Crown Brothers Masonry Contractors, Inc. in Mt. Airy
He was the Director of New Hope Outdoors and member and Elder of New Hope Fellowship Church in Westminster and was an avid hunter.

He was the husband of Cheryl L. (nee Hughes) Crown, wife of 24 years.

Father of Thomas B. Crown, James (Johnny) Crown, Amanda N. Crown and Brittany L. Crown all of Mt. Airy.

Brother of Daniel E. Crown of Union Bridge, Lorraine Garheart of Littlestown, PA, Joseph Crown of Westminster, Robert (Doug) Crown of Westminster, Lisa Grossweiler of Thurmont and predeceased by a brother.

Loving grandfather of Michael Thomas Crown of Mt. Airy

Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 12, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Pastor Norman Smith of New Hope Fellowship Church in Westminster and Rev. Wallace "Bud" Lusk officiating.

Interment St. Peter the Apostle Church cemetery in Libertytown, MD

Vernon Spencer Connelly, age 81, of Mt. Airy, died Monday May 26, 2003 at his home.

He was born September 19, 1921 near Rockville, Maryland, the son of the late Spencer I. Connelly and the late Nina V. (nee Grimes) Connelly.

He was a self-employed Brick Mason. He was P.U.F.L. Member of American Legion Post #191 in Mt. Airy. He was a member of the 17th Airborne Association. He served in they Army during WWII and Korea, which he was Sergeant First Class Parachute Trooper.

He was the husband of Ruth A. Connelly (nee Burrows) of Mt. Airy.

He was the father of daughter and son-in-law; Debra L. and G. Raymond Herche and son: Glenn A. Connelly all of Mt. Airy, Maryland.

Dear brother of Gene A. Connelly and wife Mary of Petersburg. Pennsylvania.

Grandsons: Bryan Herche, Zachary Connelly, Matthew Connelly all of Mt. Airy.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Roland, Leroy, Forrest and Russell Connelly and 4 sisters Edna Irene Fling, Mary E. Connelly, Pauline V. Koch and Shirley M. Williams.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be Saturday May 31, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Olive U.M. Church (HALL), 2927 Gillis Falls Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771, with the American Legion Post #191 of Mt. Airy participating.

Inurnment will be at Mt. Olive U.M. Church cemetery in Mt. Airy, MD

W. Roby Pickett, Sr., age 81, of Sykesville, MD, died Monday March 10, 2003 at Carroll County General Hospital, Westminster, MD.

He was born May 14, 1921 in Carroll County, Sykesville, MD, the son of the late Shriver E. Pickett, Sr. and the late F. Elizabeth Haines Pickett.

He was a self-employed Dairy Farmer and Cattle Dealer. He was a school bus driver for Carroll County Public Schools. He served in the Army during WWII, receiving two Purple Hearts. He was a member of Westminster Moose, Sykesville American Legion, Westminster VFW and the Westminster Elks Club.

Husband of the late Donna Jean Unger Pickett.

Father of Helen McQuay and husband Kenneth of Sykesville, W. Roby Pickett, Jr. and wife Carol of Westminster, Ronald Pickett and wife Deborah of Sykesville, Betty Williams and husband Malcolm of Reisterstown, and Cheryl Holl and husband Richard of Westminster.
Father in law of Denise Poole of Woodbine.
Brother of Pearl Knauff of Sykesville and Shriver Pickett, Jr. of Union Bridge.
Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughter Roberta McQuay and son Ernest Poole, Jr. and 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral Service will be held Friday March 14, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with Rev. Elizabeth Senft, of Messiah Lutheran Church in Berrett officiating.

Charles Thomas Hird died Saturday October 25, 2003 at Howard County General Hospital.

He was the spouse of Marie J. Mu Hird .

He was born September 13, 1921 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.

The son of the late James and Ethel Florence McGinnis Hird

Mr. Hird was a retired Iron Worker with Iron Workers Local #16 .

He was a Veteran of The United States Air Force serving as a crew chief during WWII, a Life Member of American Legion Liberty Post #122 Randallstown, A member of the following Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Reisterstown Moose, Sons of Italy Christopher Columbus Lodge #2240, Odd Fellows Lodge of Dundalk, String Band of America of Sykesville, Country Music Association of Sykesville. Mr. Hird performed music at numerous nursing homes in MD.

Surviving are Children and their spouses: Dannie” Biff” and Sharon Hird of Medina, NY, Robert and Patricia Hird of Eldersburg, Patricia and the late Robert Dillon of Westminster and William”Bud” and Maggie Hird of Hunt Valley.

Mr. Hird was 1 of 13 Children he is survived by 2 siblings Lela Epley of Kearney, Nebraska and Wesley Hird of Kearney, Nebraska.

Also survived by 9 Grandchildren with a special bond to Granddaughter Gina Regalbuto whom he helped raise and 3 great grandchildren, best friends and neighbors Harry and LaRue Shafer. Proceeded in death by one great- grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday October 29, 2003 9AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 9533 Liberty Rd. Randallstown, MD with Fr. Walter McGovern officiating. Interment Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD

The family will receive friends on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with a Sons of Italy Memorial Service on Monday at 7:30 PM and a American Legion Memorial Service on Tuesday at 8 PM.

Those desiring may make contributions to Howard County General Hospital or Northwest Hospital Center.

Helen Elaine Berry
85, of Sykesville, MD
1918 - 2003

Helen Elaine Berry (nee Costley), age 85, of Sykesville, died Tuesday October 7, 2003 at Continuum Care in Sykesville, MD.

She was born May 25, 1918 in Carroll County, Berrett, Maryland, the daughter of the late Columbus America Costley and the late Elenor Bell Costley (nee Dotson).

She was the wife of the late Carlton E. Berry

She was a teacher for the Carroll County Board of Education and Baltimore City Public School System. She was a member of Fairview U.M. Church in Taylorsville, MD.

Numerous nieces and nephews survive her.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday October 14, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Dr. Lloyd Marcus of Fairview U.M. Church in Taylorsville officiating.

Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Monday from 7-9 PM.

James John Kelley
77, of Granite, MD
1925 - 2003

Died Thursday October 2, 2003 at Future Care Randallstown, MD

He was the spouse of Marthetta Brigstocke Kelley

He was born October 4, 1925 in Baltimore, MD

The son of the late John J. Kelley, Sr. and late Edith V. Yinger Kelley

Mr. Kelley was a retired Attorney for the Social Security Administration.

A US Navy Veteran of WWII. Member of the Chesepeake Bay Submarine Veterans of WWII.

Surviving besides his wife are Daughters: Adrinenne P. Schiner of Glenegl, MD, Denise Leicester of Carrollton, VA and Son : J. Paul Kelley, Granite, MD

Also Survived by 8 grandchildren.

Memorial Services will take place on Saturday October 4, 2003 11:00 AM at Granite Presbyterian Church, 10637 Old Ct. Rd. Granite, MD.

With inurnment in the church cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Liberty rd. Volunteer Fire Dept. 10010 Liberty Rd. Randallstown, MD 21133 of Granite Presbyterian Church C/O the Handicap Access Fund
