He was the spouse of the late Carolyn Woods Blocher.

Mr. Blocher was born March 16, 1922 in Baltimore, MD

The son of the late William Lawrence and Late Eleanor Smyrk Blocher.

Mr. Blocher was a retired Sales Representative for the Nabisco Company. A veteran of the US Army Air Corp, a Member of Freedom Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Eldersburg, MD

Active in the Gideons and a member of Chapel Gate Presbyterian Church.

Surviving him are his sons: Charles H. Blocher, Jr. of Taneytown, MD Donald L. Blocher of Westminster, MD Bruce C. Blocher of Adamstown, MD, 2 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. A sister: Betsy Myers of Belair, MD

Funeral Services will take place Monday, November 17, 2003 11 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD with Rev. Ronald E. Steel of Chapel Gate Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will be in the Lorraine Park cemetery, Baltimore, MD

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM

Freedom Lodge #112 A.F. & A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 PM on Sunday.

71, of Woodbine, MD
1932 - 2003

Fred E. “Gene” Harrison, Jr., age 71, of Woodbine, died Sunday November 16, 2003 at Carroll County General Hospital, Westminster, MD

He was born May 10, 1932 in Mt. Airy, Maryland, the son of the late Freddie Eugene Harrison, Sr. and the late Catherine Mary Harrison (nee Broderick).

He was a retired farmer. He was a Mule Expert, avid Coon Hunter, winning numerous awards, and a member of the American Coon Hunters Association.

He was the husband of Mary Sue Harrison (nee Reed).

Father of Sherry Harrison Baker of Citra, FL and Holly J. Harrison Frey of Mt. Airy.

Brother of Robert E. Harrison of Woodbine, Francis Edward (Johnnie) Harrison of Union Bridge, Helen H. Vaughn of Bel Air and Loretta M. Widerman of Sykesville.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews and numerous special friends.

Catholic Prayers will be held Friday November 21, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) with Fr. Michael J. Ruane of St. Michael R.C. Church in Poplar Springs officiating.

Interment will be in St. Michael Church cemetery, Poplar Springs, MD.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Wed. 7-9 PM & Thurs. 3-5 & 7-9 PM.

54, of Tampa, Fl. formerly of Frederick, MD
1949 - 2003

Linda Arlene Lovell, born July 30, 1949, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003.

She was the daughter of the late L. Albert and the late Bertha E. Harrison Horton.

Linda is survived by her husband, Gary Lovell of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Greg Lovell of Brandon, Fla. and Brian Lovell of San Diego, Calif.; sister, Jenny Rhoderick of Mt. Airy, Md.; and three grandchildren.

A native of Frederick, Md. and a graduate from Linganore High School, she resided in Tampa for 15 years. She was a retail manager for T.J. Max and a member of Linganore United Methodist Church, Unionville, Md.

Florida funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2003 at Stowers Brandon Chapel with Pastor David Gardner Tweed officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Maryland funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2003 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, Md. Interment to follow at St. James Methodist cemetery, Dennings, Md.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nellie W. Pickett
98, of Woodbine, MD
1904 - 2003

Nellie W. Pickett (nee Walker), age 98, of Woodbine, died Monday November 3, 2003 at Montgomery County General Hospital, Olney, MD.

She was born November 7, 1904 in Unionville, MD the daughter of the late Jessie Calvin Walker and the late Lula Mae Beall Walker.

She was a retired LPN at Springfield State Hospital after 25 years and then later worked as a nurse at Sykesville Eldercare. She loved working in her flower garden and shopping. She was a homemaker. She will be missed deeply by her great grandchild Rachel.

She was the wife of the late James Edgar Pickett.

Mother of James Ellsworth Pickett and wife Irene of Westminster, Nancy L. Hand and husband Ernest of Bella Vista, Ark., Barbara J. Lewis and husband Donald of Thurmont and the late Doris Gosnell.

Dear sister of Louise Metz of Damascus, Evelyn Haywood of Arbutus, Helen Lueke of Catonsville and the late Earl Walker, late Jessie Monroe Walker and late Mike Walker.

Survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Friday November 7, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with Pastor Tim Leaman from Calvary Baptist Church in Westminster officiating.

Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ed Reed, Don Lewis, Ernie Hand, Chuckie Carroll, Gary Watkins, Robbie Ferguson, and Tim Pridemore.

Nona M. Kidwiler, (nee Blackwood), age 86, of Sykesville, died Saturday November 29, 2003 in Levels, West Virginia.

She was born in Hillsboro, N.C. on April 2, 1917 the daughter of the late Julian Blackwood and the late Nona Brockwell Blackwood.

She was a Glazer Production Worker for Locke Insulated Company, a division of GE.
She was a member of Bethesda U.M. Church in Sykesville.

She was the wife of the late Alfred W. Kidwiler.

She was the mother of Major Harley Bowes of Elon, North Carolina
She was the grandmother of Lori Hassell of Winston Salem, N.C. and Michael Bowes of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Rollings Johnson of Bethesda U.M. Church in Sykesville officiating.

Interment will be in Park Heights cemetery, Brunswick, Maryland.

She was born on June 30, 1914 in Falston, MD the daughter of the late E. Wilson Harkins and late Clara Shepard.

She was retired from A&P grocery store where she did accounting work.

Dearest Sister of the late Lourenna Oosterling and will be remembered by special friends Mr. Terry Lee Faggio and Mrs. Virginia Faggio.

Miss Harkins is a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Bel Air, MD.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday November 22, 2003 10:00 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME 1212 W. OLD LIBERTY RD. WINFIELD, MD with the Rev. Curtis Ehrgott of Mt. Tabor U.M. Church officiating.

Interment will be in Deer Creek cemetery, Forest Hills, MD

She was born April 11, 1925 in Ohio, the daughter of the late Harry Wallace and the late Verna Wallace (nee Wright).

She was a homemaker.

She was the wife of the late Stanley C. Day, Jr.

She was the mother of Stanley C. & Lisa Day of Ellicott City, Brian W. & Janet Day of New Mexico, and Roxanne and John Frans of Finksburg.

Sister of Marjorie Aronholt of Arizona and the late Harry Wallace.

Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Carroll “Ike” Henry Johnson, age 65, of Finksburg, MD. Died Saturday January 10, 2004 at his home.

He was born September 7, 1938 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late James Carroll Gamber and the late Katherine F. Johnson Gamber.

He was the husband of Jean May Gamber Johnson for 45 years.

He was a security guard for Pinkerton before transferring to security guard at Carroll Community College.

Survived by son and daughter in law James & Rebecca Johnson of Westminster, son and fiancé Henry H. Johnson and Linda Boulin of Sykesville, son: Ronnie L. Johnson of Gamber, Daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Larry Gibbs of Westminster.
Brother- John Johnson of Taneytown and sister- Patti A. Martin of Taneytown, Brother- James William Gamber of Finksburg.
Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday January 14, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. John Thompson of Bethel Baptist Church in Reisterstown officiating.

Interment will be in Millers U.M. cemetery, Hampstead, MD

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Monday from 7-9 PM and on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
