Gertrude Pennington, 99 of Bramalea, Ontario formerly of Granite, MD, died Saturday January 15, 2005 at home with her family in Bramalea, Ontario .

She was predeceased by Friend and companion Fred Guard and also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD on Thursday January 20, 2005 from 11:30 until time of funeral service at 1:45 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Granite Presbyterian Church cemetery, Granite, MD

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Granite Presbyterian Church, 10637 Old Court Rd. Woodstock, MD 21163

76, of Owings Mills, MD
1928 - 2005

Gertrude Elizabeth Gulas (nee Janczewski), 76, of Owings Mills, died Monday January 24, 2005 at Home.

She was born November 22, 1928 in Hamtramck, MI, the daughter of the late Anthony Janczewski and the late Stella Ziolkowski Janczewski.

She was a homemaker. Mrs. Gulas lived in Pittsburgh throughout her childhood, young adulthood, and adulthood. The family moved to Lima, OH in 1962 and has lived in the Baltimore Area Since 1967. She graduated from Schenely High School, Pittsburgh, PA. She was a Brownie Leader in Lima, OH .

She was the wife of George Gulas.

She was the mother of Richard and Denise Gulas of New Oxford, PA, Deborah and Thomas Russo of Naples, Florida, and Robert and Elida Gulas of Westminster, MD.

She was the sister of Joanne and Leon Jurczyszyn.

Also survived by 7 grandchildren.

Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) on Wed. 3-5 & 7-9 PM, Vigil 7:30 PM.

Funeral Mass Thursday January 27, 2005 at 10: 30 AM at Holy Family R.C. Church, 9533 Liberty Road, Randallstown . With Fr. Andrew S. Mohl officiating.

Interment Baltimore National cemetery .

1959 - 2005

Darrell H. Hawkins, age 45, of Mt. Airy, Died Tuesday January 18, 2005 at his home.

He was born August 22, 1959 in Olney, MD the son of Hartsel S. Hawkins and the late Martha N. Hawkins (nee Hall).

He was the husband of Sandi L. Hawkins (nee Earhart) of Mt. Airy.

He was a former member of Winfield Vol. Fire Co. He enjoyed riding his Harley and was a member of the Harley Owners Group-Frederick Chapter, Enjoyed playing baseball. He coached the Warrior Wrestling and Winfield Baseball. He was a member of Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club.

He was an Electrician for N.I.H.

He was the father of Shannon N. Hawkins and Darrell (DJ) Hawkins, Jr.

Funeral Service will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Friday January 21, 2005 at 5:00 P.M. with the Rev. Theodore R. Miller, Jr. officiating.

Private Interment

Friends and family may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. on Thursday from 4-9 PM and Friday from 2-5.

Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bonnie F. Hill McGrew, age 91, of Winfield, MD, died Sat. January 1, 2005 at Westminster Nursing Home in Westminster, MD.

She was the spouse of the late Nelson C. McGrew.

She was born November 6, 1913 in Chambersburg, Ohio the daughter of the late William A. Hill and the late Verna J. Wolf Hill.

She was a retired Office Clerk for Bethlehem Steel Co.

She was a member of Salem U.M. Church. She was a graduate of Warwood High School in Warwood, West Virginia.

Survived by son and daughter in law-Doug McGrew and Betty McGrew of Westminster.

Also survived by 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services are Private.

Interment Lake View Memorial Park.

Those desiring may make contributions to Charity of your choice.

Asa Nelson Andes, age 81, of Woodbine, formerly of Bealton, VA died Sat. January 22, 2005 at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, MD.

He was born September 24, 1923 in Bealton, VA the son of the late W.J. Andes and the late Ora T. Holler Andes.

He was the husband of Ruth June Crizer Andes.

He worked on family farm till 1950 and then went to work for Westinghouse as a sheet metal worker. He served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the Mt. Airy American Legion Goldstar Post 191 and a member at Mt. Airy Senior Center .

Father of Ronald N. & Sherry Andes of Ellicott City, Linda A. Rose and Michael of Clarksville, David S. Andes of Woodbine, Deborah K. Andes of Woodbine.

Brother of Maphis and Lawrence Andes, Evelyn Jett, Ethel Grove, June Crizer and Fern Banks.

Grandfather of Ryan and Justin Andes, Matthew, Amy and Jessica Rose.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday January 26, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Ellicott City Assembly of God, 10600 Frederick Road, Ellicott City 21042, with Rev. Tedd Manning officiating.

Interment in Lake View Memorial Park .

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM., Mt. Airy American Legion Goldstar Post 191 Service 7:30 PM.

He was born in Taylorsville, Maryland on April 11, 1909 the son of the late Frank Grimes and the late Elsie Fleming Grimes.

He was the husband of Ruth Elizabeth Grimes (nee Penn) of Baltimore.

He was an Electrician for Crown, Cork and Seal Co.

He was an avid hunter and shooter. He was a member of the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore.

He was the father of Judith A. Whiting of Lutherville and Ronald P. Grimes of Baltimore.

He was the brother of the late Mary Grimes.

Also survived by 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Graveside Service Tuesday January 4, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Taylorsville U.M. Church cemetery, Taylorsville, MD., with Rev. O.F. “Bud” Kibbe officiating.

Marco Antonio Sanchez Gonzalez, 23 of Frederick, MD and Mexico City, Mexico, died Suddenly Friday October 22, 2004 due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was the Fiancée of Armida Novoa of Frederick.

He was born August 31, 1981 in Mexico City, Mexico the son of Diana Sanchez Gonzalez.

He was employed by Ben Lewis Plumbing of Laurel as a Plumber and also by the Olive Leaf Café in Mt. Airy as a Chef. . He also loved Cars

He is also survived by Daughter: Brittany Julianna Sanchez Brother: Carlos Sanchez of Mexico, Uncle: Arturo Sanchez of New Market, Uncle Rafael Sanchez of Mexico and Cousin Fernando Sanchez of Mexico

The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 26, 2004 from 9 to 11 with funeral services at 11:00 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty rd. Winfield, DM 21784

Shriver Elliott Pickett
77, of Union Bridge, MD
1927 - 2004

Shriver “Jr.” Elliott Pickett, 77 of Union Bridge, MD, died Wednesday November 24, 2004 at his home in Union Bridge.

He was born on July 30th 1927 in Carroll County, MD the son of the late Shriver and Fannie Elizabeth Haines Pickett.

The Lord has taken him home to once again be with his late parents and late Wife: Constance Ann Morningstar Pickett. Besides his parents and beloved wife Mr. Pickett was preceded in Death by his siblings: Evelyn Pickett Hobbs, Herschel Pickett, Levi Pickett, Pearl Pickett Knauff, Walter”Roby” Picket, Lawrence Pickett and Verley L. Pickett. Late Nephew: Pete Pickett and Late Niece Eunice Hobbs Pickett also await his arrival.

Mr. Pickett was a Veteran of WWII Serving in the US Army Tank Corp., a past member of Terra Rubba Lions Club of Middleburg, Carroll Manor Fire Department and a Member of the Westminster Moose.

Mr. Pickett is survived by 9 children, Shirley Singleton of Clinton, MO, Brenda and Husband Harry Barnett of Martinsburg, WV, Peggy and Husband Bill Voss of Kilmarnock, VA, Larry and Wife Beverly Pickett of Sykesville, Frances and Husband Bill Brashears of Knoxville, MD, Stephanie and Husband Larry Barnhart of Littlestown, PA, Victor and Wife Lori of Chesapeake, VA, Cindy Rountrey of Union Bridge, MD, Billy and wife Amy Pickett of Lake Charles, LA

Mr. Pickett will also live on in the special memories of his grandchildren, Jo-ann Ray, Kimmie Agnew, Christine McCracken, Gaye Evans, Jeannie Weedon, Tinslie Pickett, Victoria Pickett, Ashley Pickett, James Edwards, Tommy Edwards, James Rountrey, Michael Pickett, Jason Pickett, Harrison Pickett, Hunter Pickett, Jack Henry Pickett and will also be remembered by his great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many other living dear friends including special friend Merle Collins and companion Elvy Lawson.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 27, 2004 2:00 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUENRAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with Rev. Jim Rausey Officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM .

Pall Bearers: Davy, Donnie, Michael, Jason, Roby Jr., Danny Jr., and Ronnie Pickett.
