George Augustus Wright, Sr., 71 of New Windsor, MD, died Sunday October 24, 2004 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD

He was the Spouse of Alice Devon Nicodemus Wright. They were married , March 28, 1958 for 46 years. He was born June 29, 1933 in Carroll County near Taylorsville.

He was the son of Mary Gladys Walker Wright Runkles and the late Paul David Wright, also preceded in death by Step-father Norman Runkles
Mr. Wright was a graduate of Mt. Airy High School class of 1952. he was employed by C&P telephone for 29 ½ years as a cable splicer. He was also a Licensed Practical Nurse at Springfield State Hospital for several years. He was in the National Guard 29th Division Battery C; 110th Field Artillery Battalion. He enjoyed going to auctions and attending grandchildren’s activities.

Surviving besides his wife and mother are: Daughter and Son-in-law Wanda Jean and A. Michael Smith of Ijamsville, Son and daughter-in-law George (Buddy) A. Wright Jr. and Denise Wright of New Windsor, Grandchildren: Steven Michael Smith, Justine Marie Wright, Valerie Elaine Wright, Matthew Eli Smith and Emily Kathryn Wright, Preceded in death by daughter Donna Marie Wright.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 28, 2004 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. (beside South Carroll High School) 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. John Street officiating. Interment will be in Linganore cemetery, Unionville, MD

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM

George Joseph Galeano
57, of Woodbine, MD
1946 - 2004

George Joseph Galeano, 57 of Woodbine, MD, died on Friday December 17, 2004 He was born October 28, 1946 in Washington DC the son of Olive Marie Galeano (nee Miller) and the late Charles Joseph Galeano.

Beloved husband of Catherine Ann Galeano (nee Schneiders).

Mr. Galeano was a Service Technican for MI Homes Served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1967. Member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, and enjoyed Wood Working as a hobby.

Other Survivors are his Chidren: Cynthia M. Galeano of Germantown, MD and Edward C. Galeano of Ft. Myers, FL

Sisters and Brother-in-laws Cheryl and Robert Kemp of Potomac, Tina and Charles Miller of Damascus, Jennifer and John Ferguson of Olney, Mary Ali and Delair of Garrett Park, Teresa and Robert Overly of Gaithersburg, Brother: Joseph and Susan Galeano of Silver Spring and Sister-in-law and husband Susan and John Gartner of Longs, SC. Also Survived by 30, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be said on Monday December 20, 2004 11:00 Am in Sullivan Hall at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Libertytown, MD.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Galeano’s name to the St. Peter the Apostle Building Fund, PO Box 278, Libertytown, MD 21762 .

Grace Greer Avery
76, of Mt. Airy, MD
1926 - 2003

Mrs. Grace Greer Avery of Mt. Airy, Maryland, formerly of New Canaan, CT, died Friday June 27, 2003 at her home.

She was the spouse of Bruce Hunt Avery, Sr. of Mt. Airy.

She was born September 13, 1926 in Scranton, PA the daughter of the late Marshall and late Elizabeth Brooks Greer.

Mrs. Avery was a retired Physcotherapist and now owned Raccoon Ridge Farm where She and her husband raise Llamas.

Surviving her besides her husband are children : Frederick Richards of Trumbull, CT, Christopher Richards of Falmouth, MA Elly Richards of Taos, New Mexico: Step-Children: Lorraine Dammen, Of Norwalk CT, Jennifer Avery of Norwalk, CT and Bruce Avery, Jr. of New London, CT. 5 Grandchildren: Matthew, Gracie, Michael and Brooke Richards and Austin Everett.

Services to be private.

Harold George Wanzer
83, of Randallstown, MD
1920 - 2003

Harold George Wanzer, age 83, of Randallstown, died Thursday December 18, 2003 at his home.

He was born February 9, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Walter Wanzer and the late Viola Wanzer (nee Spence).

He was the husband of Ethel G. Wanzer (nee Schuld).

He was a Bureau Director of Disability for Social Security Administration in Woodlawn. He was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, He served in the Army during WWII 1940-1945, and he received a Battlefield Commission. He enjoyed sports, traveling and gardening and was an avid golfer.

Father of Kenneth D. Wanzer and wife Nanci of Sykesville, Marilyn G. Riddle and husband Walter (RIP) of Gamber, Nancy J. Hladky and husband George of Sykesville and the late Richard W. Wanzer.

Dear brother of Viola Maxfield of Connecticut and the late Walter W. Wanzer.

Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and predeceased by 1 grandchild.

Funeral Service will be held Monday December 22, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at St. James Lutheran Church, 8301 Liberty Road, Baltimore, MD 21244 with the Pastor Robert Day of St. James Lutheran Church officiating.

Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) on Sat. 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

He was born July 31, 1928 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Harry Bernard Hull, Sr. and the late Alice Clary Hull.

Surviving are Sons: Carroll. B Hull of Eldersburg, Richard A. Hull of Woodlawn and Kenneth S. Hull of Cincinnati, OH 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren.

Died Saturday March 15, 2003 at Carroll County General Hospital.

She was the spouse of the late Truman A. Frizzell

Mrs. Frizzell was born December 31, 1913 in Watersville, MD

The daughter of the late William Pickney Haines and the late Naomi Viola Haines.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Frizzell was a member of Watersville United Methodist Church before it’s closing. She was the last survivor of 12 Children.

Surviving her are Sons and Daughter in-laws: William and Eleanor Frizzell of Mount Airy, Robert and Sue Frizzell of Mount Airy, Kenneth and Rosa Lee Frizzell of Westminster and Son-in-law Gilbert Mayne Sr. of Mount Airy.

10 Grandchildren, 6 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by Daughter: Betty L. Mayne and Great grandson Jerry Calliflower, Jr., Also Preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Edith Thacker, Ann Morsberger, Eleanor Esworthy, Claude, Charlie, Delton, William, Roland, Henry, Albert, and James Haines.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday March 18, 2003 10 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield MD

Interment will be held at Prospect UM Church cemetery

Herman William Keller
80, of Finksburg, MD
1924 - 2004

Herman W. Keller (Shorty), 80, died Sunday July 25, 2004 at his daughter’s home in Finksburg. He was the spouse of Alice Emma Cookson Keller. He was born February 5, 1924 in Moundsville, West Virginia the son of the late William Keller and late Myrtle M. Kinney Keller.

He worked as a farmer throughout his life.

Mr. Keller served in the army during WWII as a Sgt. in the 168th Engineer Combat Battalion and in the Battle of Normandy. He is a member of Mt. Airy American Legion Gold Star Post 191.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are Daughter and son-in-law Linda and Mike Watts of Virginia, Son and Daughter-in-law Raymond and Debbie Keller of Mt. Airy., Daughter: Kathryn J. Keller of Finksburg, Daughter and son-law Barbara K. and Sam Duvall of Mt. Airy. Brother Late Lindsey E. Keller

Also survived by 6 Grandchildren: Lisa Farley, John Keller, Ray Keller, Jr., David Watts, Matthew Watts and Chris Duvall 3 Great Grandchildren: Shawn McCauley, Richard Farley, Robert Farley. 2 Great-Great Grandchildren Caitlyn Keller and Morgan Watts.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday July 28, 2004 7:30 Pm at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A. with Rev. David Highfield officiating. Followed by an American Legion Memorial Service.

1929 - 2004

Hilda Louise Poole Biden, 74, died Thursday July 8, 2004 at her home in Mt. Airy. She was the wife of the late Joseph John Biden whom she married January 22, 1949 in Lansdowne, MD. Mrs. Biden was born August 2, 1929 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Wesley Edgar and Nettie Elizabeth Porter Poole.

Mrs. Biden was a homemaker who loved to craft, cook, can, read and sew costumes for the grandchildren. She was a dear friend, supporter and caretaker to many neighbors, friends and “adopted” family members.

Surviving her are: daughter: Jo Ann L. Beck of Mt. Airy, John J. Biden of Westminster, Thomas W. Biden of Hampstead, and Kevin W. Biden of Mt. Airy. Sister: Mildred E. Willhide of Westminster. 5 Grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She was preceded in death by sister Pearl N. Keister and brother Alva R. Poole.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday July 13, 2004 11:00 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. Dennis Yocum of Calvary United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy, MD officiating.

Inurnment will be private

The family will receive friends on Monday for 2- 4 and 7-9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A.

Ida Marie Vencle Kane, 72 of Mt. Airy formerly of Catonsville, MD, died Suddenly on Wednesday September 3rd 2003 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the spouse of Robert Louis Kane of Mt. Airy formerly of Catonsville.

She was born October 30, 1930 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Stephen George and Mary Frances Elsner Vencle.

Mrs. Kane was a homemaker, an Avid Oriole Fan and Season Ticket Holder since 1949. She enjoyed Bowling in the Westview Ladies Tuesday Morning Bowling league for several years .Loved spending time with her grandchildren and gardening.

Surviving her besides her husband are Children and their spouses: Michael and Suzanne Kane of Finksburg, Stephen and Ellen Kane of Mt. Airy, Theresa and Nick Caprio of Perry Hall, Mary and Rick Parker of Taylorsville and 8 Grandchildren, Sean and Matthew Kane, Stephanie and Lauren Kane, Nicole and Courtney Caprio, Ryan and Sarah Parker.

A Funeral Liturgy will be said on Monday September 8, 2003 10:30 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael’s Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD with a Christian Wake service taking place at 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
