Melvin Thomas Ridgely, age 71, of Sykesville, died Thursday August 26, 2004, at Gilchrist Center in Towson.
He was born February 17, 1933 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Charles Ridgely and the late Clara Thomas Ridgely.
He was a US Government Postal Letter Carrier Worker. He was a member of Johnsville Methodist Church.
He was the husband of Bessie Ramona Ridgely (nee Rosenbalm).
Melvin was the father of son from previous marriage Atallerico (Ricky) Ridgely of Columbia, MD, stepfather of Kyra Gilliam; father in law of Carol Ridgely; four Sisters, Ernestine and Doretha Blackwell, Doris Williams and Wahseeola Pajardo; three brothers, Edward, Vernon and Wendell Ridgely; three sister in laws, Delores, Louise and Rev. Doris Ridgely; two brother in laws, James O. Blackwell, Sr., and John Williams; Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also survived by life long friend Grafton Brown, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends may call at Johnsville Methodist Church, 1124 Johnsville Road, Eldersburg, MD on Wednesday Sept. 1, 2004 from 6-8 PM, and Thursday family hour from 10:30-11:00AM at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home.
Home Going Service will be at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thurs. September 2, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Doris Ridgely officiating
Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery.

Minerva R. Jaeger (nee Carey), age 80, of Marriottsville, died Tuesday April 13, 2004 at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, MD.
She was the wife of John Robert Jaeger-living.
She was born February 15, 1924 in PA. The daughter of the late Calvin Carey and the late Sadie Carey (nee Bishop).
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Springfield State Hospital and later at Elder Care-Continuum Care in Sykesville.
She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Freedom Chapter #87 and Past President of the Social Order of the Beauceant Westminster Assembly #245. She was a member of Elders Baptist Church in Eldersburg.
Mother of Barbara R. Korman of Hampstead and Peter Jaeger and wife Tracy of Westminster; and foster mother of Pamela Swengel of York, PA.
Sister of Eugene Carey of Sherman, TX, Calvin Carey Jr., of Eldersburg, Violet Wike of Gettysburg, PA and Betty Heflin of Gettysburg and the late Chester Carey.
Loving Grandmother of Christian Jaeger, Jacqueline Jaeger, George Robert Jaeger, Samantha Korman and Natalie Korman.
Funeral Service will be held Friday April 16, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Elders Baptist Church 1216 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, with Pastor Jim Edmonson of Elders Baptist Church in Eldersburg officiating.
Interment will be in St. John’s Evangelical (Leisters) Lutheran Church cemetery, Westminster, MD

Nancy L. Kane (nee Rote), age 72, of Winfield, Died Thursday May 20, 2004 at her home.
She was born May 13, 1932 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Malcolm Edward Rote and the late Charlotte Evelyn Rote (nee Lego).
She attended Milford Mill High School in Rockdale, MD. She was a homemaker and Artist who enjoyed doing craft shows across the Middle Atlantic States.
She was the wife of Dennis M. Kane.
Predeceased by parents Malcolm E. and Charlotte E. Rote and beloved grandfather Clarence R. Rote.
Survived by husband Dennis M. Kane and children Linda Lee Dayhoff and Husband Scott B., Denise Lee Vizzini and husband S. Jeffrey, Laura Lee Logue and husband Douglas K., and Dennis Brandon Kane and wife Cheryl L.. Grandchildren Bryan Derrickson and wife Brandy, Evan Dayhoff; Lea and Eric Vizzini; Kellee and husband Marlo, Douglas and Cameron Logue; and Natalie and Garrett Kane.
One great grandchild, Taylor Paige Derrickson. Brother Malcolm R. Rote and wife Audrey, sister-in-law Patricia A. Graham and husband Donald and 7 nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at Ebenezer U.M. Church, 4911 Woodbine Road, Woodbine on Sunday May 23, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. O.F. “Bud” Kibbe officiating.

Nelson Leon Fleming, age 68, of Hagerstown, formerly of Mt. Airy, died Sunday October 26, 2003 at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, MD
He was born May 16, 1935 in Howard County, Maryland the son of the late Harry B. Fleming, Sr. and the late Estella Elizabeth Shoemaker Fleming.
He was a former member of Mt. Airy Vol. Fire Co. He is a member of Mt. Airy Bible Church is Lisbon, and former member and usher of Calvary U.M. Church in Mt. Airy, also is an employee of Burrier-Queen Funeral Home in Winfield. He was a Self-Employed Master Barber and also worked in Frederick as a barber. He worked As a Lab Technician in Bethesda at the Armed Forces Radiologist Resource Institute (AFRRI).
He was the loving husband of Anna Rhae Fleming (nee Aholt).
He was the devoted father of Vernon Eugene Fleming of Mt. Airy and Verna Jean Munch of Hagerstown.
Dear brother of Flora Richard of Mt. Airy, Walter J. Fleming of Monrovia, Harry B. Fleming, Jr. of Baltimore, Nellie M. Brown of Mt. Airy, Hanna Knill of Mt. Airy and the late Gertrude Hulver, late Shirley Dubel, and late Stanley Eugene Fleming and late Thomas Wilfred Fleming. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ollie E. (Morris) Houghton, 95 of Plainville, died Sunday, December 28, 2003 at her home in Plainville. She was the wife of the late Harold Houghton.
Born in McGaheysville, VA on December 10, 1908 the daughter of the late Al and Ollie Morris.
Mrs. Houghton was a resident of Woodbine, MD for many years until moving to Plainville five years ago.
She was a seamstress in the Baltimore Area for many years. Mrs. Houghton was an avid gardener and an antique collector. She also loved to play cards.
She is survived by a niece, Eleanor “ Ellie” Wilfert and her husband Joseph with whom she resided in Plainville. She is also survived by many additional nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 2, 2004 12 NOON at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.
Interment Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD

Paul Hatherne Adler
90, of Reisterstown, MD

Paul Hatherne Adler, 90, died Tuesday April 27, 2004 at Chapel Hill Nursing Home.
He was the spouse of 42 years of the late Ellen R. Merkle Adler.
Born November 27, 1913 in Providence RI, he was the son of the late Walter and Viola Parent Adler.
Mr. Adler worked as an electronics service manager for Sears Roebucks at their Baltimore Central Service office for 26 years. Served in United States Army during WWII Assigned to the 7th Army, 100th Division, 800th Ordinance Company. Mr. Adler saw action in the European Theater of Operations.
He was a member of Granite Presbyterian Church.
Surviving him are sister-in-law Shirley Merkle of Woodstock, Brother-in-law Nelson Mathews. Nieces: Bonnie Hart of Bath Maine, Karen Merkle of Westminster, MD, Joyce Peugh of Woodstock, MD, Marcia Young of Hampstead, MD Nephews: Arthur D. (Woody) Merkle of Woodstock and Craig B. Merkle of Baltimore.
Also Survived by 13 great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by Sisters: Helen Buzzell and Ruby Collins.
Funeral Services will take place Saturday May 1, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Granite Presbyterian church, 10637 Old Court Rd. Woodstock, MD 21163 with the Rev. Jan Trammell-Savin of Granite Presbyterian Church in Granite officiating.
Interment will be in Granite Presbyterian Church cemetery, Granite, MD

She was a Radiological Technologist for 37 years. She was a member of Carroll Community Church.
She was the husband of James L. Steimel.
She was the mother of Karen Michelle Steimel of Westminster.
Daughter in law of Olevia Grace Steimel of Towson and the late Fred A. Steimel.
Sister of Edward Richard Brueck, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Columbia, MD.
Aunt of Justine F. Brueck and Stephanie L. Steimel.

Memorial Service will be held at Winfield Bible Church, 5407 Woodbine Road Woodbine, MD 21797 on Tuesday August 10, 2004 at 7:00 P.M., with the Pastor Joe Duke of Carroll Community Church officiating.
