December 24, 2000

Mildred Margaret Anastasia Kelly Davies of Chestertown, Md. Mrs. Davies died Sunday December 24, 2000 in the Kent & Queen Anne's hospital, Chestertown, Md. of heart failure. She was 89.

Mrs. Davies was born in Fallston, Md. the daughter of the late Andrew P. and Mamie Becker Kelly. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Davies was a member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Chestertown, Md. were she was a member of their Altar Society. Mrs. Davies was also a member of the Worton Homemakers Club. Mrs. Davies enjoyed gardening and flowers; she enjoyed handwork such as needlepoint and knitting. Her husband H. Morris Davies Sr. preceded Mrs. Davies in death in 1995.

Mrs. Davies is survived by a son H. Morris Davies Jr. of Georgetown, Md. a foster son William J. Taylor of Worton, Md. and a foster daughter Jackie Brooks of Newark, De. 9- Grandchildren and 4- Great grandchildren. 2- brothers Andrew V. and Warren S. Kelly predeceased Mrs. Davies.

A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:30 am Thursday December 28th. 2000 in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Chestertown, Md. Friends and family are invited to the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Rd. Chestertown, Md. on Wednesday the 27th. From 6-8pm. The Knights of Columbus will offer the Rosary at 8pm. Interment will be in the Longreen cemetery, Longreen, Md.

Elizabeth N. Horne, of Easton, died at Marvel Hall, Wm. Hill Manor, Easton, on Sunday, December 24, 2000. She was 85.

Born at Rhodesdale, Dorchester County, March 24, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Arrow Aldred and Grace May Walker Thomas. After graduating from Cambridge High School, she worked at a women's apparel store in Cambridge until her marriage in February of 1937 to Peyton N. (Trader) Horne, an Easton Pharmacist.

They made their home in Easton where she was a member of Christ Church and the Altar Guild of the church and a charter member of the Junior Auxiliary at Memorial Hospital, Easton. An avid golfer, she was a former member of the Talbot Country Club where she was the women's golf champion several times. Mr. Horne died on November 19, 1980.

Mrs. Horne is survived by a brother, James Edward Thomas of Rhodesdale and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28th, at 11 A. M. at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

Memorial donations may be made to the Talbot Humane Society, P. O. Box 1143, Easton, MD 21601 or to the American Cancer Society, 1138 Parsons Road, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Kevin Klakring of Centreville died on Sunday, December 24, 2000 at the Arundel General Hospital, Annapolis. He was 46.

Born April 21, 1954 at the Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, he was the son of Harold Emerson and Edna Mae Hibberd Klakring of Annapolis. He graduated from Annapolis High School in 1972 and he began working for Honeywell, which later became known as Windermere Information Technologement Systems of Annapolis, MD. He worked for 28 years as a Quality Assurance Technician.

On November 26, 1977 he married the former Catherine Mary Krausz of Annapolis. He attended the Wye Bible Church of Grasonville and was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Delmarva Shooting Range in Sudlersville, MD.

n addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Klakring is survived by two sons, Sean Klakring and Nathan D. Klakring, both of Centreville; a daughter, C. Diane Klakring of Centreville; a brother, Michael Klakring of Bowie and a sister, Dana M. Ford of Dunkirk, MD.

Funeral services will be held at the Wye Bible Church, Grasonville on Thursday, December 28, 2000 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 from 7:00 ­ 9:00 PM. Burial will be in Chesterfield cemetery, Centreville, MD.

Memorial donations may be made to the Wye Bible Church, P.O. Box 606, Grasonville, MD 21638.

Charles Richard "Dick" Scott of Easton, formerly of Royal Oak, died on Sunday, December 24, 2000 at the Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 59.

Born on February 27, 1941 in Columbus, OH, he was the son of Charles Walker Scott of Hilliard, OH and the late Thelma Eleanor Rice. Following his graduation from the St. Charles Preparatory, he attended Ohio State University, College of Agriculture where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1966.

A resident of Talbot County since 1970, he owned his own veterinary practice, Colonial Animal Clinnic, until 1989 when he began working as a veterinary consultant. Mr. Scott was a former member of various service organizations. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, the former Peggy Jones whom he married in April 1967; two sons Charles Andrew Scott of Columbia, SC and Stephen Richard Scott of Easton; a sister, Ann Williams Smith of Columbus, OH; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Easton on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.

Margaret Kathryn Wolcott Selby, of Centreville, died at the Memorial Hospital at Easton on Sunday, December 24, 2000. She was 77.

Born Feb. 21, 1923 in Wye Mills, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Milton and Margaret Bennett Fesymer Wolcott of Centreville. Her paternal grandparents were the late David B. F. and Elizabeth Roe Wolcott and her maternal grandparents were the late Joseph (a Civil War veteran) and Mary Catherine Harper Fesymer. From an early age, "Peggy" spent most of her life as a resident of Centreville, participating in local church choirs and community music groups entertaining throughout the area. After graduating from Centreville High School in 1940, she received her B. A. Degree from Washington College in 1943 later an M. A. Degree from the University of Maryland. During World War II, she worked in the Personnel Department at the Glenn L. Martin Company in Baltimore.

Following the war, she began her teaching career which covered a span of twenty -four years. She first taught in Baltimore City for two years, then in the Stevensville High School, the Centreville High School and the Centreville Middle School where she taught History, English, Art and Music. She retired in 1974 as a Music teacher. Over the many years, she had organized choruses in the schools and presented choral and stage productions at Christmas, during the Spring and at high school graduations. A member of the Maryland State Retired Teachers Association, she was also a member of the Queen Anne County Retired Teachers' Association and the National Education Association. A long-time member of the Centreville and Queen Anne's County Band Boosters, she was also a member of the Septum Homemakers, the Junior Women's Club, Queen Anne Historical Society and the Upper Shore Genealogical Society of Maryland. Active in church, she was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Centreville, where she was a member of the church choir for eighteen years, a member of the Alter Guild and the Executive Board of the Episcopal Churchwomen.

After retiring, she was a Founding Member of the Music Advisory Committee at Chesapeake Community College serving from 1982 to 1988 and participated as an adjudicator for the Arts Contest activities. In 1994, she was appointed by the then Governor William D. Schaeffer to the Board of Trustees of the Upper Shore Community Mental Health Center. In May of 1987, she was formally honored during a banquet of Centreville High School Alumni Association for her faithful services to education and the community as a member of the Centreville High School Faculty.

Mrs. Selby is survived by her husband, John W. Selby whom she married in 1943; a daughter, Margaret Susan Selby of Centreville and a brother, J. Robert Wolcott of Easton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 29th, at 2 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Centreville. The Rev. William Alford will officiate assisted by The Rev. David F. Gearhart. Requested organ music will begin at 1:40 PM Burial will be at Chesterfield cemetery, Centreville.

The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, Centreville, MD 21617.

Lulu Virginia Wood, of Centreville formerly of Easton, died at the Meridian Nursing Center - Corsica Hills, Centreville, on Sunday, December 24. 2000. She was 97.

Born in Easton, September 30, 1903, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Lulu Jones Anderson. After attending school at Tri-County School, she married George W. Dulin, a Talbot County farmer in 1921.

They farmed in Talbot and Queen Anne's Counties. Mr. Dulin died in 1968. In 1976, she married Raymond M. Wood, a Talbot County contractor. They made their home in Easton where he died in 1984. She moved to Centreville in 1986. A member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Price, she was also a member of the Ladies of the Elks, Easton Lodge #1622 and the Kramer Senior Center in Centreville.

Mrs. Wood is survived by a son, James C. Dulin and his wife, Lavina, of Centreville; two sisters, Minnie A. Warner and Bea A. Morgan, both of Easton; three grandchildren, William James Dulin and his wife, Ellen, of Smyrna, DE, Constance L. Dulin of Centreville and Deborah Timms of Queenstown and a great-granddaughter, Kenda A. Leager and her husband, Dale, of Centreville and their son, a great-great grandson, Thomas Lee Leager.

Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton, on Thursday, December 28th, at 2 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church, Price, P. O. Box 6, Church Hill, MD 21623.

Edward Bromwell Freeman, of Easton formerly of Baltimore, died at the Wm. Hill Health Care Center, Easton, on Thursday, December 21, 2000. He was 96.

Born in Baltimore, October 8, 1904, he was the son of the late John William and Margaret Bromwell Freeman. After completing his education in Baltimore schools, he joined the Baltimore brokerage firm of Lockwood Peck in April of 1923 where he was a broker's broker for the New York Stock Exchange. He remained with the firm until 1964 when he joined Alex Brown and Sons as head of the trading department. He retired in 1982.

A resident of Talbot County since 1970, he was a member of Christ Church, Easton, the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club and the Talbot Country Club. He was a former member of the Maryland Club, the L'Herondelle Club and a former trustee of St. Paul's School for Boys. He was also a former member and past president of the Bond Club of Baltimore and a founding member and past president of the Baltimore Security Traders Association. His wife, Mildred Howard Freeman, died in March of 1991 and his son, Edward B. Freeman, Jr. died in 1964. There are no immediate family survivors.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 at 2 P.M. at Christ Church, Easton. Burial will be at Oxford cemetery, Oxford, MD.

Eileen F. Pierrard of Crofton died on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at Crofton Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center. She was 83.

Born on May 25, 1917 in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Adrien and Gertrude Dore’ Pierrard. She was a graduate of Curtis High School in the class of 1935. She then obtained her B.A. in Art with a minor in Mathematics from Brooklyn College.

She then began her career with Macy’s as a furniture buyer/purchaser in New York for ten years. She was later employed with Peterson Tool and Die Works on Staten Island, NY as an office manager, retiring after 30 years. She resided in the Staten Island area, traveling quite extensively throughout Europe, always having an interest in art, mathematics, crossword puzzles and the stock market. She was a member and organist of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Staten Island, NY.

Miss Pierrard is survived by a sister, Gloria P. Brown of Huntsville, AL and several nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, Chester on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at 11:00 AM.

Michael J. Feifer, Jr. of Stevensville died on Thursday, December 21, 2000 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was 57.

Born on January 23, 1943 in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of Julia Kiddon of Elysburg, PA and the late Michael Feifer, Sr. He was raised in Woodlyn, PA and attended school at St. James Boys School. He then graduated from Drexel University, majoring in business.

He began working for Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a Financial Trainer and Advisor, retiring after 25 years of service. He then began working for the State of Maryland as Assistant Director of Banking. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #7941, (where he was P.G.K, P.F.N., and F.D.D)., a member of the 4th Degree Father Mosley Assembly #1929, Kent Island Elks and St. Christopher’s Catholic Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Diane Feifer of Stevensville, two daughter, Michelle Zinn of Mariotsville, MD and Patti Feifer of Stevensville, two sons, David N. and Michael S. Feifer, both of Stevensville, a step-daughter, Natalie Buellis of Barkley, MD, a step-son, Christopher Wemmer of Jupiter, FL, a sister Barbara Shrewsbury of Palm Dale, CA, and one grandchild, Skylar Corrine Buellis.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, Chester, at 2:00 PM. Family and friends may call at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Chester, on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 from 5 till 9 PM, where at 6:00 PM the Knights of Columbus will hold a 4th Degree Service. Burial will be at St. Peter’s cemetery.

Michael K. Pinder, Sr. of Chester died Thursday, December 21, 2000 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 49.

Born in Chester on November 10, 1951 he was the son of Alice Anna Thomas of Chester and the late Addison Kemp Pinder. He was raised in Chester and attended school in Stevensville, MD. He was a self employed waterman in the Chester area, and then a self-employed pile driver with T & M Piledrivers, until he started dealing antiques, which was his passion.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael K. Pinder Jr. and Clinton Pinder, one daughter, Patty L. Pinder, all of Chester, a sister, Dallas Cook of Millington, a step-brother, Harry Porter of Chester, and one grandson.

Services will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Chester on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 from 7 till 9 PM. Burial will be at Chesterfield cemetery, Centreville.

Charles W. "Trixie" White Of Chestertown, Md. died Thursday December 21st. 2000 in the Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown, Md. of heart failure. He was 69.

Mr. White was born in Chestertown the son of the late William R. and Sara Elizabeth Elliott White. Mr. White was a Photographer and Pressman for the Kent County News in Chestertown, Md. for 50 yrs. Mr. White was well known through out Kent and upper Queen Anne's counties by his presence in many news and social events.

Mr. White was a Life member of the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Co. Mr. White enjoyed going to the Kent Athletic Center for his workout throughout the week. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and golf and for many years he loved to dance. Mr. White is survived by his wife of 39yrs. Alice Diane White, 1- daughter Suzanne Elizabeth White and 1- son William Richard "Whitey" White both of Chestertown, Md. 4- Brothers William R. White of Chestertown, Md. John R. White and Ralph E. White both of Worton, Md. and Lusby Elliott of England. 1- sister, Betty K. Coleman of Sebastian, Fla. A grandson, George E. Kennedy III and a granddaughter Crystal Ilene White.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday December 27th. 2000 at 1pm from the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Rd. Chestertown, Md. Friends and family may call Tuesday Evening from 7-9pm. Interment will be in the Chester cemetery, Chestertown, Md.
