December 16, 2000

Margaret W. Baker, of Easton, formerly of Centreville, died at the Wm Hill Manor, Easton, on Saturday, December 16, 2000. She was 92.

Born near Upper Marlboro, January 4, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Newton and Mary Evelene Pratt White. After graduating from McKinley Technical High School in Washington, D.C. in 1925, she graduated from the Garfield Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D. C. in 1928.

A Registered Nurse, she worked as a Public Health nurse in Kent Co. from 1928 until 1930 and later for the Queen Anne's Health Dept. from 1950 until 1973. Prior to moving to the Wm Hill Manor in Easton in 1990, she had lived in Centreville where she was a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church. Her first husband, Clarence E. Woodward whom she married in 1930, died in 1963. Her second husband, Kenneth W. Baker whom she married in 1980, died in 1996.

Mrs. Baker is survived by two daughters, Barbara W. Andrews of Middlebury, Vermont and Eleanore W. Hunt of Racine, Wisconsin and eight grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Centreville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Chesterfield cemetery, Centreville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Centreville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Centreville, MD 21617 or to the Royal Oak Community United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Royal Oak, MD 21662.

A Funeral Liturgy for Joseph Francis Hagan, of St. Michaels, MD, formerly of Kensington, MD, will be celebrated at St. Michaels Catholic Chapel, St. Michaels, MD. on Wednesday, December 20th, at 11 A. M. Mr. Hagan died at the Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, December 16, 2000. He was 78.

Born in Baltimore, MD, March 27, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph D. P. and Mary Hopf Hagan. After graduating from Patterson Park High School in Baltimore in 1940, he entered the University of Maryland that year. In 1943, he entered the U. S. Army and served with the 542nd QM Depot Co (Supply) and with the Armed Forces Radio Service, gaining the rank of Captain.

After the war, he continued to serve in the Active Reserves in the 310 Logistical Command and the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, retiring in 1963 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. In 1952, he founded the Hagan Insurance Agency which operated primarily from Rockville, MD and is still in being although with different ownership.

In 1989, he moved from Kensington, MD to St. Michaels MD. A member of the St. Michaels Catholic Chapel in St. Michaels, he was also a member of the Regina Coeli Council of the Knights of Columbus, The Miles River Yacht Club, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, the Reserve Officers Association of the United States and had been active in the Civitan Club of Rockville. Professionally, he was a member of several trade associations, including the MD Chapter of the Independent Insurance Agents of which he was a past president.

Mr. Hagan is survived by his wife, the former Josephine Marie Dollinger whom he married in Baltimore, MD on April 30, 1949; a daughter, Maureen H. Callahan and her husband, Jay, of Silver Spring; three sons, Dr. Joseph F. Hagan, Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Burlington, VT, Dr. Gregory N. Hagan and his wife, Leslie, of Somerville, MA and Sean D. Hagan and his wife, Nina, of Silver Spring; a sister, Rose Ellen H. Clarke of Baltimore, MD and 10 grandchildren.

Burial will be at Old St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery, Cordova, MD. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton, MD. on Tuesday, December 19th, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Evelene S. O’Donnell Linhard of Stevensville, Md. died Saturday December 16, 2000 at her home in Stevensville, MD. She was 75.

Born on May 13, 1925 in Swanton, MD. She was the daughter of the late Pete and Emma Bickford. She attended school in Garrett County. In 1941 she meet and later married Thomas V. O’Donnell and made their home and raised their family in Grasonville, MD. He predeceased her on December 16, 1967.

In 1978 she moved to Ridgley, MD. and married Walter Reed Linhard whom predeceased her in 1989. Mrs. Linhard was a homemaker and in 1999 moved to Stevensville, MD. to live with her family. She was a volunteer with the Seventh Day Adventist Church Community Center in Grasonville, MD.

She is survived by a daughter Dixie L. Reichel of Stevensville, MD. Two sons Dean B. O’Donnell of Cordova, MD. and Thomas C. O’Donnell of Denton. Two sisters Jenny Otto of Bel Air, Md. and Fanny Green of Swanton, MD. Six (6) grandchildren and two (2) great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 11AM Tuesday December 19, 2000 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton, MD.

Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Queen Anne’s, Inc. 300 Del Rhodes Ave. Queenstown, MD. 21658

Robert E. Parramore III 58 of West Grove, PA. Died on December 16th at West Chester Medical Center as a result of heart failure.

Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Robert E. & Mildred E. [Clark] Parramore. He spent his formative years in the Darby Area and attended two year of college. He was a self-employed contractor specializing in installing siding. Mr. Parramore was an avid golfer who alson enjoyed country line dancing and gospel music.

Mr. Paramour is survived by his two sons, David Parramore of Cameron, NC, Robert C. Parramore of Juneau, Alaska, two brothers, William T. Parramore Sr. of Galena, MD, David C. Parramore of Claymont, DE a sister Carol Taylor of Millington, MD and a grandchild, Rebecca Ashley Parramore of St. Petersburg, Fl.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, 11 A.M., December 20th at Crumpton cemetery in Crumpton, MD. Officiating the services will be Rev. David Bringman In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 200 E. Joppa Road, Towson, MD 21286-3114.

Elwood Lee Tucker of Chestertown, Md. died on Saturday December 16, 2000 in Easton Memorial Hospital. He was 67.

Born in Rock Hall, Maryland he was the son of the late Thomas Adkins and Margaret Burgess Tucker. Mr. Tucker was a 1952 graduate of Rock Hall High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Upon his return to Rock Hall he worked with his brother at the Rock Hall Garage and later worked with the State Forestry Service in North East, Maryland. Mr. Tucker then took a job with the (then) Friendship Airport, (now BWI), as a firefighter. He retired in 1976 after 15 years. He then worked as an automobile salesman for Burton Chevrolet retiring in 1981.

Mr. Tucker was married to Janice Kendall Elburn until 1976. In 1980 he remarried to Barbara Turner Walbert. He was a member of both Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and Rock Hall Vol. Fire Dept. Mr. Tucker was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed collecting.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son: Thomas A. Tucker of Church Hill, Md., 3 daughters: Teresa Lee Nelson, Sharon Lyn Haas, and Jacqueline Faye Elbourn all of Rock Hall, Md.; a brother: F. Burgess Tucker of Rock Hall, Md.; 3 stepsons: Ronald O. Walbert of Centreville, Md., Calvin Keith Walbert and H. Craig Walbert both of Chestertown, Md.; 8 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 19, 2000 at 1:00 P.M. at Wesley Chapel Church in Rock Hall, Md. Relatives and Friends may call one hour prior to the service (12:00-1:00). Interment will be in Wesley Chapel cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to either: Wesley Chapel Church or Wesley Chapel cemetery Fund P.O. Box 626 Rock Hall, Md. 21661.

Donald James McLaughlin of Mechanicsville, Md died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, Md. Born on July 29, 1934 in Braintree, Massachusetts he was the son of the late James and Marie McCauley McLaughlin.

Following his graduation from Chaminade Catholic High School in Long Island, New York he entered the United States Air Force in 1952. While on active duty he was sent to Yale University to learn Mandarin Chinese, then assigned to the 51st Intelligence Squadron during the Korean Conflict. Before his release from active duty in 1956 he married the former M. Juanita McGovern. They returned to Long Island to raise their children where he worked in various positions in the Long Island area.

In 1982 he moved to Maryland where he attended Chesapeake College and received an Associates Degree. He then taught Computer Education at Chesapeake College. Earlier this year he moved to Mechanicsville, MD. He was a member of Memorial Post 7937 V.F.W., Denton, Md.

In addition to his former wife Mr. McLaughlin is survived by three daughters; Priscilla J. Evans and Elizabeth J. Nobbs, both of Easton, MD and Victoria J. Asher of Mechanicsville, Md; a son, Michael J. McLaughlin of Washington, DC; one sister, Kathryn Webb of Trenton, NJ and six grandchildren, Jonathan Evans, Keegan Evans, Brandon Evans, Timothy Asher, Kevin Asher and Shawn Asher. Another sister Barbara Radetsky is deceased

Funeral services will be Monday, December 18, 2000 at 11 AM at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Maryland Veterans cemetery, Hurlock, MD.

Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Martha R. Petitt, of Easton, died at the William Hill Health Care Center, Easton on Wednesday, December 13, 2000. She was 86.

Born in Talbot County, December 18, 1913 she was the daughter of the late James H. and Emma Mullikin Ross. After attending Talbot County Public Schools , she, on May 28, 1932, married Martin M. Petitt, Sr. For most of their married life they made their home at Oaklands.

She was associated with her husband in the operation of their business, The Martin Vending Company from 1940 until it's sale in 1972. A member of Christ Church in Easton and the Altar Guild of the church, she was also a member of the Talbot County Women's Club, the Soroptomist International of Talbot County and a former board member of what is now Dixon House. Mr. Petitt died October 31, 1969 and a son, Martin M. "Buzz" Petitt, Jr. died May 6, 1986.

Mrs. Petitt is survived by a daughter, Kathryn P. Bogan of Easton; three grandchildren, Melinda Anne Northup of Germantown, MD, J. Ryan Ellison of Baltimore, MD and Heather McKinney of Des Moines, Iowa and three great-grandchildren, Daniel Ryan Hammon, Alyssa McKinney and Evan McKinney.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2000 at 11 AM at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

Theresa Jean Collier of Queenstown, MD. died Monday December 11, 2000 at her home. She was 68.

Born on June 19, 1932 in Chester, PA. She was the daughter of the late Anthony Joseph & Theresa Weilgoz Wanex. She was a graduate from East New Market High School High class of 1944. She married Robert E. Collier on February 14, 1952 and they moved to Queenstown, MD. Where Mrs. Collier was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling & wildlife with her devoted husband as they dividing their time in Daytona Beach, FL and Ocean City, MD.

She is survived by her beloved husband Robert E. Collier, Sr. son Robert E. Collier, Jr. and daughter Charlotte Ann Perkins all of Queenstown, MD. Sister of Eleanor Bell of Arnold, MD. and Connie Pullen of New Castle, DE. Grandmother of Christopher Jason Nash, Sr.; Leslie Carol Collier and Kimberly Lynn Collier and a great grandmother of Christopher Jason Nash, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday December 15, 2000 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD. Family and friends may call on Thursday at the funeral home from 7PM to 9PM. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park’s Mausoleum in Easton, MD.

Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Queen Anne’s, Inc. 300 Del Rhodes Ave. Queenstown, MD. 21658.

Carl Lauber Maenak of Chestertown, Md. died on December 11, 2000 at his home. He was 69.

Born on July 14, 1931 in Woodbury, N.J. he was the son of the late Warren and Estelle Lauber Maenak. Mr. Maenak was a 1949 graduate from The Haverford School and a 1958 graduate from Rutgers University. In 1956 he married Sarah Stevenson they lived in New Jersey and Vermont prior to moving to Chester County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Maenak worked as a teacher for The Haverford School, teaching Ancient History, Philosophy, and English for 21 years. He retired in 1981 and was honored with Admission into the Cum Laude Society. While living in Glenmoore, Pa. he was supervisor of Wallace Township for many years.

In 1988 he and his wife moved to Chestertown, Md. where he worked for Worton Creek Marina and at Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital in their gift shop. He was a member of the Vestry at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Glenmoore, Pa. and at St. Paul's Kent in Chestertown, Md. Mr. Maenak enjoyed boating, traveling, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children a son: John Warren Maenak of Thorndale, Pa., and two daughters: Kim Parry Maenak of Brooklyn, NY and Leslie Ann Casteel of Gettysburg, Pa. Six grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 14, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Kent Episcopal Church near Chestertown, Md. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kent Hospice Foundation 103 Dixon Drive Chestertown, Md. 21620.
