Barbara Moyseenko Smith, 84, of 18008 Sand Wedge Drive in Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Paterson, N.J., died Friday, July 16, 2010, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.

Born July 16, 1926, in Boehmfeld, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ottilia Schneider Schipper.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jakob P. Moyseenko, in 1969; and her second husband, Edward J. Smith Sr., in 1976.

She was employed by Sandvik Steel in New Jersey until her retirement.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She attended Williamsport United Methodist Church in Williamsport, Md.

She was a member of AARP.

She enjoyed many celebrations and gatherings with her close friends and family, enjoyed traveling and previously volunteered at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

She is survived by one son, Alex M. Moyseenko and his wife, Debra (Teach) Moyseenko, of Hagerstown; one stepdaughter, Sheila Fransisco and her husband, Gene, of Boonton, N.J.; one sister, Ottilia Schipper of Paris, France; one grandson, Michael P. Moyseenko of Baltimore; and one granddaughter, Katie E. Moyseenko of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by one son, Helmut P. Moyseenko; one stepson, Edward J. Smith Jr.; one sister, Scharlette Schipper; and four brothers, Michael Schipper, Joseph Schipper, Helmut Schipper and George Schipper.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 6 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, with Pastor Terri S. Cofiell officiating. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Spring Valley, N.Y.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Born, December 16, 1958 in Las Vegas, Nevada to the late Claude Barton Jr. and Emily Arlene Reed Smith.

He was a 1976 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He was employed by various Construction Companies in the Tri-State area as a Mason for over 20 years.

He was a Christian.

There will be no viewing.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 1:00 pm - closing at The Third Base in Williamsport, MD.

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. - Ruth Atkinson Sherman, 71, of Williamsport, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at her home.

She was born Oct. 10, 1938, in Washington, D.C., to the late James L. and Grace L. Diehl Atkinson.

Ruth was a graduate of North Western High School in Hyattsville, Md.

She was employed with State Farm Insurance Co. in Frederick, Md., until her retirement and most recently was employed as secretary with Emmanuel U.M. Church in Hagerstown, Md., for the last five years.

She attended Emmanuel U.M. Church in Hagerstown.

She belonged to the Senior Citizens Bowling League in Hagerstown. She was involved with the Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley Chapter.

Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Sherman, whom she married June 13, 2004, of Williamsport; daughter, Sandy Conway and her husband, James, of Glen Burnie, Md.; daughter, Lisa Vay and her husband, Gene, of Glen Burnie; daughter, Kathy Wilson and her husband, Jack, of Bel Air, Md.; stepson, Steve Sherman of Edinburg, Va.; grandchildren, Shannon, Kyle, Brittany, Cody, Ashley, Shane, Ryan, Jamie and Katelyn; and stepgrandchildren, Trevor and Dylan.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at noon at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave. in Hagerstown, with the Rev. Randy Reid officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 13, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, which will be open at 2 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Entombment services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Randy Reid officiating.

She owned and operated Cedar Park Campground in Catawba Island, OH with her husband before their retirement.

She was of the Methodist Faith.

She was employed as a seamstress by Dorbee's Dress Factory in Hagerstown. She was a Presbyterian. She was a member of Red Feather Degree of Pocahontas Council 59 of Williamsport and AARP. She is survived by two nieces, Connie J. Baker and Sandy L. Naile, both of Clear Spring; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, two sisters and four brothers. Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The Rev. Ernest Witmer will officiate. She was a 1987 graduate of Clear Spring High School and a 1996 graduate of Frostburg State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree. She was employed by Lowe's as an inventory specialist. She served in the U.S. Air Force during Desert Storm. She was a member of Valley Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Kevin Rhoe Tucker, whom she married May 21, 1988; one daughter, Alison Z. Tucker at home; one son, Nathan Q. Tucker at home; and three sisters, Jill M. Sandeen and Karen S. Davis, both of Hagerstown, and Lori A. Liakh of Canonsburg, Pa. Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, with military services by AMVETS Post 10 and the Marine Corps League, both of Hagerstown. The Rev. Born Oct. 8, 1922, in Floyd County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Joseph and Effie Maude Burgess Hancock. She was a graduate of New Windsor (Md.) High School. She was an Avon representative for 27 years in the Williamsport area. She was a member of Sam's Creek Church of the Brethren in New Windsor. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, George Washington Howell of LaPlata; one daughter, Wanda L. Pingitore of Charlotte Hall, Md.; two brothers, Alvis A. Hancock of Charleston, S.C., and Rauland E. Hancock of Hanover, Pa.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Tressa Lescalleet and Odessa M. Baile; and one brother, Olin H. Born Oct. 24, 1940, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Russell and Evelyn Elsie Colbert Staley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene R. "Beanie" Hutzell Sr., in 1997. She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education at Williamsport High School in the cafeteria for more than 20 years until retiring. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Md. Joann loved her granddaughter, Mandy, NASCAR racing and her cat, Fluffy. Survivors include: son, Gene R. "Bease" Hutzell Jr. of Williamsport; granddaughter, Amanda C. Born Aug. 7, 1945, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Anna Louise Waters Jamison of Sharpsburg and the late Thirman Everard Jamison. She was a teacher at Boonsboro Middle School for 35 years, retiring in 2002. She was a 1963 graduate of Boonsboro High School, a graduate of Hagerstown Junior College with an associate degree in secondary education, a graduate of Shepherd College with a bachelor of science degree and Shippensburg University with a master's degree in secondary education, and did post-graduate work at Hood College. She was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg, where she served on the church council. She was a member of the Washington County Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Sharpsburg Town Council. In addition to her mother, survivors include one sister, Debra L. Jamison of Sharpsburg; one brother, Lynn E. Jamison and his wife, Sandy, of Sharpsburg; one niece; and one nephew.
