December 10, 2000

Mia Catherine Palucci, of Easton, died at Memorial Hospital on Sunday December 10, 2000. She was 24.

Miss Palucci was born in Philadelphia, PA, January 31, 1976. A resident of Easton for the last eight years, she attended public school in Caroline County and Chesapeake College, Wye Mills, Md.

Miss Palucci is survived by her mother, Sally Anne O'Connor of Oxford, MD; her father, Matthew N. Palucci of Wilmington, DE; her stepfather, William R. Glaeser of Oxford, MD, a sister Nina Palucci of Purchase, NY and a brother Gabriel Palucci of Oxford, MD. She was the granddaughter of Maurice P. O'Connor of Philadelphia, PA and the late Winifred McGowan O'Connor.

Memorial services will be held at The Church of The Holy Trinity, Oxford, MD on Wednesday, December 13 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery, Springfield, PA on Thursday, December 14.

December 9, 2000

William Frederick "Tony" Brown of Royal Oak, died on Saturday, December 9, 2000 at the Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 59.

Born in Washington, D.C. on March 13, 1941, he was the son of the late William C. and Dorothy Pullen Brown. He began boxing with the Boy's Club while he was in junior high school, and then later with the Golden Gloves and as Joe Frazier's sparing partner. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy as part of the Underwater Demolition Teams, later renamed the Seals, from 1958-62. Following his release from active duty, he attended Florida State University for two years. He moved to Miami where he started his own aluminum company, United Metals. He ran this company for several years before accepting a job with the government as a contract inspector in the Panama Canal. In the late 1970's, he moved to Annapolis where he opened a kitchen cabinet and marble fixture company.

He sold the company after ten years and moved to the Eastern Shore where he started TCP, Maryland's first IP telephony network company. He was still working for TCP up until the time of his death. Mr. Brown was a member of the Royal Oak Community United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, the former Lorene "Lori" Cook, whom he married in 1983, he is survived by three sons, William Anthony Domenech of Orlando, FL, Drew Brown of Annapolis, and Scott Mehl of Fort Collins, CO; two daughters, Ashley Brown of Royal Oak and Teresa Dygert; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein, & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 114 Baptist Street, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Kathryn Ann Holleran of Preston died on Saturday, December 9, 2000 at the Talbot Hospice House in Easton. She was 77.

Born on September 20, 1923 in Brownsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Allison and Agnes Reed Nicholson Gue. She graduated from Brownsville High School in Brownsville, PA in 1941. She then attended Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Johnstown, PA. She was a registered nurse for several hospitals until her retirement in 1972 from Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.

In 1989, she moved to Preston. Her husband, William Munsell Holleran, whom she married in 1969 died on November 30, 1997. Mrs. Holleran was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church, Preston and the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla #45 where she was a past commander in 1991.

Mrs. Holleran is survived by daughter, Lynne A. Moorhouse of Stevensville; a step-son, William J. Holleran of Gaithersburg; a sister, Charma I. Liston of Uniontown, PA; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. A step-son, Thomas F. Holleran, died in 1980.

Funeral services will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein, & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton on Thursday, December 14, 2000 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Maryland Veterans cemetery-Eastern Shore in Beulah.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethesda United Methodist Church, Main Street, Preston, MD 21655.

December 8, 2000

Anna Betty Bruzas of Rock Hall, Md. died on December 8, 2000 at her sisters home. She was 73.

Born on January 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Norris and Edith Marian Stempel White. Mrs. Bruzas attended Montgomery Elementary School and North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pa. In 1959 she married Edwin Bruzas they lived in Lansdale, Pa. until 1984 when they moved to Furlong, Pa. In 1990 she moved to Rock Hall, Maryland.

She was the owner and operator of the Old Oars Inn on Main Street in Rock Hall for the past 10 years, until her illness. She was interested in antiques and art.

She is survived by her son: David Norcross of Rock Hall, Md. 3 sisters: Helen Getz of Chestertown, Md., Bertha Groves of Port Richey, Florida, and Geraldine Kulp of Souderton, Pa., one brother: Norris S. White of Sellersville, Pa., 2 grandchildren: Laurie Ann Lockhart and Loren Lee Lockhart, and 5 great grandchildren: Natasha Collins, Ashton Collins, John Keller, Harley Lockhart, and Samuel Lee Lockhart.

Funeral services will be held on Monday December 11, 2000 at 8:00 P.M. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home Route #20 in Rock Hall. Relatives and friends may call the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 -8:00 P.M. Services will also be held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park Chapel on Tuesday December 12, 2000 at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Educational Fund for Natasha Collins c/o Alex Rasin 200 Court Street Chestertown, Md. 21620.

David Howard Taylor of Chestertown, Maryland died of Leukemia, on December 8, 2000 at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown, MD. He was 74.

Mr. Taylor was born in Cumberland, Maryland. He graduated fro St. James School, Hagerstown, MD, where he was awarded the Bishop's Prize. He entered the US Maritime Academy after High School and later graduated from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He worked as a staff announcer at radio station WTBO in Cumberland in the summers and holidays and started the radio station in Harrisburg, PA, during his college days. During the Korean War he served in the US Army. He co-owned "Music Masters," a background music company in Washington, D.C. and "Background Music Masters" in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

After he retired he and his wife acquired and operated WCTR Radio in Chestertown, MD. In 1994 he became Director of Economic Development for Kent County, MD. Mr. Taylor was a former president of Cosmopolitan Club International, Kent County Chamber of Commerce and the International Background Music Association. Mr. Taylor was a warden at St. Francis Church of Potomac, MD and senior warden of St. Margaret's Church, Annapolis and St. Paul's Kent.

He is survived by Joanne (Jody) Wood Taylor, his wife of 45 years, his daughter Deborah and her husband Ronald Binkley of Terrell, TX, his son Robert and his wife Tina of Chestertown, MD, sister Patricia Young of Potomac, MD and Five grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, December 10th, from 4-7 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD 21620. Funeral Services are to be held on Monday, December 11th, at 11:00 a.m. at Shrewsbury Parish Church, Shrewsbury Road, Rt. 213, Kennedyville, MD. Interment will be in the Church cemetery.

Katheryn F. Telles of Stevensville died on Friday, December 8, 2000 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. She was 68.

Born on November 30, 1932 in Billings, IL, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes Reads Koons. She graduated from Billings High School class of 1941. After graduating, she married Jack Anderson of Billings, who predeceased her. She then married Joseph Hessmillbich of Montana. This ended in 1951 as a result of divorce. In 1952, she married Francesco G. Tellez of Billings, IL.She was a member of the Kent Island United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Telles is survived by four sons, Mark Tellez of Stevensville, Rick Tellez of Briton, CO, Michael St. John of Wheeling, IL and Stephen Hessmillbich of Atlanta, GA, four daughters, Marilyn Cooper of Federalsburg, MD, Yvonne Plumely of Mannasass, VA, Katta Anderson of Towson, MD and Linda Putcheck of LaMasas, CA and one sister, Bonnie Joyce Daniels of Hollywood, CA.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at 11:00 AM at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Chester, where friends and family may call at 10:00. Burial will be at Stevensville cemetery.

Albert Henry Walton of Marydel, formerly of Easton, died on Friday, December 8, 2000 at the Kent General Hosptial in Dover, DE. He was 62.

Born in Easton on February 15, 1938, he was the son of the late William Lloyd and Rosalie Schlotzhauer Walton. He served in the U.S. Army as a truck driver from 1956 to 1959. He was an independent truck driver for most of his life and spent the last several years as a heavy equipment operator for R. B. Baker & Sons in Queenstown. He retired in February 2000 due to health reasons. Mr. Walton was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1520, Easton.

Mr. Walton is survived by a son, Albert Nathanial "Nat" Walton of Easton; a step-mother, Elizabeth Walton of Easton; two brothers, William Walton of Easton, and Howard Warrington of Skipton; two special friends, Mike O'Ferrall and Pam Thompson, both of Marydel; and 2 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein, & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at 2:00 PM. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery, Eastern Shore in Beulah.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1306, Easton, MD 21601.

Charles Francis Withington of Centreville died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton, on Friday, December 8, 2000. He was 80.

Born April 20, 1920 in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Sidney and Dorothea Barrows Withington. He attended the Foote School and Polfret School. He received his Bachelors Degree from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. His education was interrupted during World War II when he served as a meteriologist in the Army Air Corps.

Following his release from active duty, he finished his education by receiving a Master’s Degree in Geology from the University of Rochester. After he received his degree he worked for the U.s. Geological Survey. He had many accomplishments during his long career. He was a recognized expert in Remote Sensing. He served as Geologist for Washington, DC and the surrounding area. He also authored a booklet on the “Building Stones of Washington”. Though this was originally written in the 1970s, it remains a very popular publication. He left the Geological Survey in 1976 to go to the Agency of International Development where he worked in Africa and the Middle East where he used satellite imagery to locate water. He left AID in 1979 to go to work for the United Nations doing similar work throughout Africa, Asia and South America. He retired in 1985. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Centreville, the Army Navy Club of Washington, DC, the Association of Engineering Geologists, and a Fellow of the Geological Society of Washington.

Mr. Withington is survived by his wife, the former Joan Vest of Centreville; two daughters, Frances Neville Withington of Oakton, VA and Dorothea W. Hanchar of Arlington, VA; and two grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Virginia Withington. A Memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, December 16th at 2:00 PM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Goodwill Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Fund, Centreville, MD 21617.
