MARJORY ELIZABETH JONES (nee Keener)

On August 17, 2009. Marjory Keener Jones was born in Swanton, Ohio on November 25, 1910 to Albert Keener and Lena Stussy. One of eight children, she is survived by her younger brother, Paul Keener (Lucille) of Lakeland, Florida. Predeceased by husband, Atty. Morgan V. Jones Jr., of Johnstown, PA, son, Army Lt. Col. Morgan V. Jones, III, USA and wife, Barbara and granddaughter, Charlotte Gordon. Marjory is survived by daughter, Ruth V. Jones of Minnesota, Quay K. Jones, of Rockville, MD (Vanita) and Marjory Gordon (Bryan) of Ottawa, Canada; grand- children, Lt Col. Quay B. Jones, USA (Hyoun Sook), Emily Pearce (Ken), Hunter V. Jones, Kevin B. Jones (Luisa), Morgan Jones (Shandi) and Bruce Gordon (Jane); and seven great-grandchildren. A survivor of the Johnstown Floods of 1936 and 1977, she watched American Civil War veterans march Memorial Day in Swanton, Ohio. As a child, she rode in a horse-drawn sleigh on her parent”s farm. She graduated from the University Of Michigan School Of Nursing and worked during the Great Depression, paid in “script” as a young registered nurse in Cleveland, Ohio. Married in the Great Depression, she raised four children during WWII while her husband Morgan Jones served in the Pacific theatre. She was a warm, wise and generous person, much loved by everyone. The family will receive friends at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m.

GLENNA G. FITZGERALD

On Tuesday, August 11, 2009, of Silver Spring, MD, age 82, died of a massive stroke. She leaves her loving husband of 58 years, Robert D. Fitzgerald. Dr. Fitzgerald was Supervisory Pharmacologist at the Food and Drug Administration prior to her retirement in 2001. Thereafter, she was a pharmacology and toxicology consultant. For many years, she also conducted an antiques business, specializing in creamware, jelly molds and kitchen utensils.
