RICHARD E. “Dick” COBB
On Monday, August 10, 2009, of Silver Spring, MD. Dick Cobb, a life-time Washingtonian, retired from the Internal Revenue Service. He had been a 1st LT in the Army-Air Corp and flew bombers in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Mr. Cobb was an accomplished church tenor throughout the Washington, DC area. He and his wife of 62 years, Dorothy, were both avid travelers and Life Master tournament bridge players. In addition to his wife, Dorothy Ann (nee Goodman) Cobb, he is survived by his son, Richard E. Cobb, Jr. He is the cherished grandfather of Jake L. Cobb, Lucas R. Cobb, Megan S. Rienzo and Morghan M. Cobb; great-grandfather of Samantha Rienzo, Kendra Rienzo, James Lee Cobb, Patricia Evelyn Cobb and Lucas R. Cobb, II and brother of Julia Wilson and Alan Cobb. He was a native Washingtonian and graduate of Eastern High School. During World War II he served as a staff sergeant with the 38th Combat Engineers.
