Mrs. Mary Terhune
Dated: Monday, July 23, 2001.
Mrs. Mary Jane Terhune, 90, of Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Thursday, July 19, at Ravenwood.

She was the wife of Kenneth C. Terhune, who died in 1950.

Born Feb. 1, 1911, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Mary Ellen Mills Miller.

She was a 1929 graduate of Chambersburg High School, and attended Drexel University in Philadelphia.

She had been employed as the secretary at Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg. Later, she worked as the secretary to the vice president and with the Alumni Affairs Office at Wilson College, Chambersburg.

She was a member of Zion Reformed Church, Chambersburg.

She is survived by one daughter, Nina T. Pottenger of Hagerstown; one son, Kenneth C. Terhune of Modesto, Calif.; one granddaughter, Morgen Atherton of Frederick; and two grandsons, Cameron Terhune and Elliott Terhune, both of Modesto.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 23, at 11:30 a.m. in Norland cemetery, Chambersburg. The Rev. Jeffrey R. Diller will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Reformed Church, 259 S. Main St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Mrs. Nancy Sochor
Dated: Monday, July 23, 2001.
Mrs. Nancy Lee Sochor, 45, of Deep Creek, Fla., died Friday, July 20.

She was the wife of Martin J. Sochor, her husband of 17 years.

Born Feb. 27, 1956, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of Lois G. Arnette of Baltimore.

Mrs. Sochor had been a homemaker. She was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are one daughter, Martine Diane Sochor, at home; one son, Christopher Clark Sochor, at home; one brother, Gary P. Knapp of North Dakota; two sisters, Gail L. Colby and husband David of Frederick, and Lisa L. Bufflap and husband Russell of Mount Airy; and her grandmother, Lois K. Scherer of Baltimore.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 24515 Rampart Blvd., Port Charlotte, with the Rev. Matthew Neumann officiating.

Interment will be in Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Paul Ehrlich
Dated: Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
Mr. Paul R. Ehrlich, 58, of Barnesville, died Friday, July 20, at his residence.

He was the husband of Carole Ehrlich.

Born Sept. 9, 1942, in Hackensack, N.J., he was a son of the late Paul L. and Mary Koppenall Ehrlich.

Mr. Ehrlich was past president and past treasurer of the Maryland Glass Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Thomas Ehrlich of Arlington, Va., and Richard Ehrlich of Easton; and two brothers, Stephen Ehrlich of New Jersey, and William Ehrlich of Minnesota.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville.

Mrs. Susan Potter
Dated: Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
Mrs. Susan Jane Spencer Potter, 50, of 2238 Kaetzel Road, Knoxville, died Sunday, July 22, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.

She was the wife of Russell L. Potter Sr., her husband of 26 years.

Born May 20, 1951, in Gapland, she was the daughter of Crena L. Cordell Anderson of Hagerstown, and the late Marvin F. Spencer.

She was a 1969 Gov. Thomas Johnson High School graduate.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout in her younger years.

She was a member of the Church of the Brethren, Frederick.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by one daughter, Heather L. Hirzel of Brunswick; two sons, Russell L. Potter Jr. and William F. Potter, both of Knoxville; her stepfather, Amos H. Anderson of Hagerstown; two foster sons, Steven Zichler of St. Louis, Mo., and Andrew Krayenhagen of Glen Burnie; one sister, Linda K. Berg of Petersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Marv Spencer Jr.; one foster brother, Jason R. Redman of Frederick; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Associate Pastor Marv Spencer will officiate.

Interment will be in Brownsville Heights cemetery, Brownsville, at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to her family, Mr. Russell L. Potter Sr., 2238 Kaetzel Road, Knoxville, Md. 21758.

Mrs. Evelyn Thompson
Dated: Tuesday, July 24, 2001.
Mrs. Evelyn W. Thompson, of Rockville, died Saturday, July 21.

She was the wife of the late Francis H. Thompson.

She is survived by two children, Marty Thompson of Rockville, and Ken Thompson of the Frederick area; three grandchildren, Joe Hill, Jamey Hill and Jeffrey Thompson; and one sister, Marjorie Allwine.

She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Carl Kendrick.

Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, on Wednesday, July 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Fort Lincoln cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of St. Andrew, 12247 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, Md. 20902.

Mrs. Mary Bruhn
Dated: Wednesday, July 25, 2001.
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bruhn, 92, of Record Street Home, died Sunday, July 22, at the home.

She was the wife of Walter Henry Bruhn, who died in 1974.

Born June 11, 1909, in Sainte Marie, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Shackman Jacquet.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown.

She was an artist and enjoyed sewing, ceramics and quilting.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Trusty of Frederick; one grandson, Michael Trusty and wife Diane of Durham, Conn.; four great-grandchildren, Kelly Trusty, Daniel Trusty, Paige Trusty and Sydney Trusty, all of Durham; and one niece, Marie Newell of Cupertino, Calif.

There will be no visiting or calling at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. July 26, at Record Street Home, 115 Record St., Frederick, with the Rev. Blaine Feightner, of Sharpsburg Lutheran Parish, officiating.

Interment will be in Mount View Memorial Gardens, Mesa, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Record Street Home, 115 Record St., Frederick, Md. 21701.

Mr. Donald Smith
Dated: Wednesday, July 25, 2001.
Mr. Donald Elmer Smith, 66, of Frederick, died Monday, July 23, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of Elizabeth Smith.

Born Aug. 18, 1934, in New Haven, Conn., he was a son of the late Frederick H. and Sadie Klaneski Smith.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army as an ammunition storage specialist during the Korean War. He taught map reading while serving in the U.S. Army where he received the National Defense Service medal. He was a member of Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, Frederick.

He was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Frederick.

He was an avid Civil War historian and will be remembered for his tales, expertise and love of Civil War history. He assembled a personal collection of maps and Civil War history research and was in the process of developing a pictorial Civil War history book to donate to the community.

He enjoyed numerous volunteer activities in the community and was a lifetime member of the National Alliance of Business.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Michele Lynne Martineau and husband Richard of Slattington, Pa., Jennifer Anne Campbell and husband Jeffrey of Frederick, and Jackqueline Smith-Ugarte, Edward Smith and Steven Smith, all of Connecticut; one grandson, Mitchell Smith of Connecticut; one brother, Vernon Smith of Connecticut; his mother-in-law, Bertha Rozman of Pittsburgh; two sisters-in-law, Lillian McHugh and husband Donald, and Joanne Rozman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where Christian wake services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 116 E. Church St., Frederick, with the Rev. Wayne Funk as the celebrant.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick, with military honors provided by members of the Maryland National Guard, 5th Regiment Armory, Baltimore.

Mr. Curtis Broughman
Dated: Wednesday, July 25, 2001.
Mr. Curtis Linwood "Zeke" Broughman, 60, of Middletown, died Monday morning, July 23, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of Norma Newcomb Broughman, his wife of 37 years.

Born Jan. 28, 1941, in Buchanan, Va., he was a son of the late Jesse Phillip Broughman and Irene Beckner Broughman Howard.

Mr. Broughman worked 44 years for Essroc (formerly Alpha Portland Cement Co.) and attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Elks Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sisters, Emily Moore of Natural Bridge, Va., and Nancy Coleman of Buchanan; one brother, Billy Broughman of Buchanan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3346 Gapland Road, Rohrersville. The Rev. Wendell McClellan will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3346 Gapland Road, Rohrersville, Md. 21779.

Arrangements are by Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown.

Mr. Khaliq Culbreath
Dated: Wednesday, July 25, 2001.
Mr. Khaliq Culbreath, 43, of North Wales, Pa., died of head injuries Wednesday, July 18, in Strasbourg, France. He was struck by an automobile Friday, July 13, while crossing a street to observe the cyclists racing in the Tour de France.

Born June 24, 1958, in Norristown, Pa., he was a son of Betty Collins Culbreath of Gwynedd, Pa., and Joshua Culbreath of Mableton, Ga.

He received his degree in ornamental horticulture from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture. He was a graduate of Wissahickon High School.

A long-distance cyclist, Mr. Culbreath had ridden his bicycle coast-to-coast, from Los Angeles to Rehoboth Beach, Del.; from Maine to Florida; across Pennsylvania; and across North Carolina. He was an active member of Suburban Cyclists Unlimited and the League of American Bicyclists.

A master craftsman, he worked as a project superintendent for Viola Contractors Inc. of Blue Bell, Pa., for more than 16 years, specializing in the design and construction of residential and commercial buildings.

Mr. Culbreath was a graduate of the Associated Builders and Contractors apprenticeship program, became a teacher with the program, and for several years taught carpentry to new apprentices.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Maliq Culbreath of Greensboro, N.C., and Jahan Culbreath of Centerville, Ohio; two sisters, Sandra Penn of Columbia, and Camille Culbreath of Mableton; one aunt, Ruth Dredden and husband George of Frederick; two uncles, John W. Collins of Frederick, and Robert Collins of San Antonio, Texas; and six cousins, Mary Ahmed, Paul Smith, Michael Smith, Bernard Smith, Mark Smith and Rose Marie Shern.

Mr. Culbreath will also be remembered by his girlfriend, Emily Littleton of Kensington.

Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home, 200 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 428 S. Main St., North Wales.

Memorial donations may be made to League of American Bicyclists, 1612 K St. N.W. #401, Washington, D.C. 20006.
