Mrs. Janet Sharrer

Mrs. Janet Olivia Foland Sharrer, 63, of 6005 Lundgren Drive, Frederick, died Saturday, July 28, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of Richard M. Sharrer.

Born April 10, 1938, in Frederick, she was a daughter of Austin F. Foland of Frederick, and the late P. Lillian Wachter Foland.

Mrs. Sharrer started working in 1984 for the Cardiac Rehab Center with Dr. Kahn and, after its closing, she continued working in his office until her death.

She was a member of Grace Reformed United Church of Christ, and enjoyed cross stitching and sewing.

Mrs. Sharrer and several high school friends started a card club that still meets regularly.

Surviving in addition to her husband and father are two daughters, Kristi E. Holland and husband Todd of Middletown, and Cassandra J. Galligher of Bunker Hill, W.Va.: two brothers, Ronald F. Foland and wife Edith of Frederick, and Kenneth A. Foland and wife Ellen of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Barbara A. Dickerson of Smyrna, Del.; two grandchildren, Emily and Benjamin Holland; many nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, James M. Sharrer and wife Sandra of Frederick.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Joseph R. Foster, pastor of Grace Reformed United Church of Christ, will officiate.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Memorials Tributes, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058.

Mr. William Wachter Jr.
Dated: Tuesday, June 12, 2001.
Mr. William E. Wachter Jr., 82, of Baltimore County, died Monday, June 11, at Gilchrist Center, Towson.

He was the husband of Ellen Nash Wachter.

Born March 10, 1919, in Daisy, he was the son of the late William E. Sr. and Kemmoe Bell Unglesbee Wachter.

He was a retired carpenter and building supervisor for Mach Homes.

He was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Randallstown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary W. Wachter and wife Janet of Mount Airy, and Dale A. Wachter and wife Jody of Baltimore; one daughter, Melanie Staudt and husband Howard of Nolensville, Tenn.; three sisters, Elva Benson of Earlysville, Va., Ida Belle Higgins of Woodfield, and Emily Brown of Baltimore; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, 5113 Old Court Road, Randallstown, on Tuesday, June 12, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Mount Olive United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shelia McCurdy officiating.

Interment will be in Patuxent cemetery, Sunshine.

Memorial donations may be made to Mount Olive United Methodist Church, 5113 Old Court Road, Randallstown, Md. 21133.

Arrangements are by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, Winfield.

Mrs. Edna Michael
Dated: Tuesday, June 12, 2001.
Mrs. Edna E. Michael, 85, formerly of Frostburg and Cumberland, died Thursday, June 7, at Magnolia Hall Nursing Home, Chestertown.

She was the wife of Edgar Michael, who died in 1962.

Born May 10, 1916, in Frederick County, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Mary E. Sigler Lakin.

She was a former member of Salem United Church of Christ, Frostburg.

She is survived by one son, Glen Michael of Chestertown; three daughters, Martha Gilbar and husband Douglas of Norfolk, Va., Mary Freeman and husband Ron of Friendsville, Pa., and Wanda Michael of Derry, N.H.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Stup and Catherine Conway, both of Walkersville, and Mary Margaret Clark of Thurmont; and one brother, Charles Lakin of Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Sowers Funeral Home, 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, with the Rev. William B. Shrout Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society, 111 S. George St., Cumberland, Md. 21502.

Mrs. Elizabeth Cavanaugh
Dated: Tuesday, June 12, 2001.
Mrs. Elizabeth Cook "Libby" Cavanaugh, 85, of Laytonsville, died Monday, June 11, at Montgomery Casey House Hospice, Rockville.

She was the wife of the late David T. Cavanaugh, her husband of 50 years.

Born Jan. 31, 1916, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Elizabeth Bowling Cook and the eldest of eight children.

She had worked as an executive secretary before starting a family. This included service for Gov. William Preston Lane of Maryland at the time the original Chesapeake Bay Bridge was being constructed.

She is survived by six children, David Cavanaugh of Alexandria, Va., Betsy Cavanaugh-O'Keefe and Rachel Cavanaugh-Rouse, both of Laytonsville, Louise Cavanaugh Roslansky of Wellesley, Mass., Ann Cavanaugh Mendelsohn of Newbury, Mass., and Charles Cavanaugh of Combermere, Canada; three sisters, Trudy Maguire of Marion, Pa., Margaret Hunt of Mercere Island, Wash., and Julia Beven Flynn of Acton, Mass.; and 17 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9250 Damascus Road, Damascus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14.

Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery Mausoleum, Silver Spring.

Arrangements are by Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, Damascus.

Mrs. Margaret Penn
Dated: Wednesday, June 13, 2001.
Mrs. Margaret Post Penn, 89, a resident at Beverly Health Care of Frederick, formerly of 2424 Ridge St., Chevy Chase, died Tuesday, June 12, from cancer.

She was the wife of the late Robert R. Penn Sr.

Born Jan. 9, 1912, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Otto and Ethel Hamilton Post.

Mrs. Penn was a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Chevy Chase.

She was employed for a number of years with the Army Map Service, as a topographer, and also for a number of years with the Treasury Department.

Surviving are two sons, Robert R. Penn of Myersville, and Roger Penn of Falls Church, Va.; one daughter, Rhoda McCracken of North Bethesda; six grandchildren, David McCracken, Kevin McCracken, Leslie Penn, Melanie Penn, Judy Penn and Michael Penn; two great-grandchildren, Amber and Ryan Penn; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 6701 Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase, with the Rev. Susan M. Gresinger, rector of the church, officiating.

Interment will be in National Memorial Park, Falls Church.

Arrangements are by Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick.

Mr. Glenn Draper
Dated: Wednesday, June 13, 2001.
Mr. Glenn Ellsworth "Gus" Draper, 74, of Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick, died Tuesday, June 12, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 13, 1927, in Middletown, he was a son of the late Edgar Ellsworth and Hazel Crone Draper.

He was a graduate of Frederick High School and a member of Grace United Church of Christ and Independent Hose Co.

He had delivered The Frederick News-Post for 20 years, had worked at Kehne's Service Station on West Patrick Street, and the Department of Energy in Germantown.

He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Lakin and Mary Richards, both of Frederick; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar Leon Draper, Frank B. Draper and Robert Lee Draper.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 14, at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Joseph R. Foster, pastor of Grace United Church of Christ, will officiate.

Interment will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Auxiliary of Citizens Nursing Home, 1900 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, Md. 21702.

Mrs. Josephine Bradley
Dated: Wednesday, June 13, 2001.
Mrs. Josephine Evangeline Bradley, 99, of the Record Street Home, 115 Record St., Frederick, died Tuesday, June 12, at the home.

She was the wife of the late Arthur C. Bradley.

Born March 29, 1902, in Frederick County, she was a daughter of the late John Augusta and Margaret Amelia Hawker Payne.

Mrs. Bradley was a homemaker most of her life.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Frederick, for over 70 years. She was the church organist for many years, and continued playing at Record Street Home.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Surviving are one son, John W. Bradley and wife Ann of Rock Hill, S.C.; two daughters, Mildred B. Easton of Walkersville, and Nancy A. Darling of Felton, Del.; one sister, Margaret Payne of Frederick; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by one daughter, E. Jean Beall.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, at First Church of the Nazarene, 7899 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. The Rev. Richard G. Diffenderfer, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Manor Parish cemetery, Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick.

Memorial contributions may be made to Record Street Home, 115 Record St., Frederick, Md. 21701.

Mrs. Goldie Crum
Dated: Wednesday, June 13, 2001.
Mrs. Goldie G. Stambaugh Crum, 82, a resident of Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick, died Monday, June 11, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of Byron K. Crum, who died in 1995.

Born June 1, 1919, in Thurmont, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Rosalie Knott Stambaugh.

Mrs. Crum was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Frederick, where she previously volunteered with the Children's Sabbath School.

She volunteered for 11 years at Frederick Memorial Hospital in the records department.

She had an appreciation for antiques, enjoyed collecting angel figurines, and liked reading.

Surviving are three daughters, Doris V. Blood of Frederick, Lois D. Summers and husband Samuel W. of Walkersville, and Carole R. Corey of Frederick; five grandchildren, Colis Blood, Pamylla Powell, Charlene Miller, Nicole M. Wastler and Lonny L. Plunkard; six great-grandchildren, Brandon C. Wastler, Dustin C. Wastler, Camellia A. Powell, Ryan A. Blood, Thomas A. Plunkard and Phillip Plunkard; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Fuller of Paradise, Calif.

Mrs. Crum will also be remembered by her friend, Christine VanGutten of Woodsboro.

Mrs. Crum was preceded in death by six brothers, Dewey, Samuel, James, Albert, William, and Bruce Stambaugh; three sisters, Bess Welty, Maude Baumgardner, and Alice Topper; and a son-in-law, Thomas B. Corey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6437 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, Md. 21703, or American Diabetes Association, 3120 Timanus Lane, Suite 106, Baltimore, Md. 21244.
