Mr. R. Edward Allnutt

Mr. Raymond Edward Allnutt, 76, of Frederick, formerly of Barnesville, died Tuesday, June 19, at Vindobona Nursing Home, Braddock Heights.

He was the husband of Elsie V. Allnutt.

Born Feb. 13, 1925, in Sunshine, he was a son of the late Raymond and Bessie Evely Allnutt.

Mr. Allnutt had worked in maintenance for Montgomery County for over 29 years.

He was a Methodist.

He liked to fish and attend turkey shoots.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one stepdaughter, Elnora Caudell and husband Bill of Braddock Heights; one sister, Beverly Shipley of Kemptown; two stepgrandchildren, Michelle Abel of Middletown, and Kevin Caudell and wife Jodi of Walkersville; two nieces, Linda Smith and Dawn Greeves of Frederick; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22.

Interment will be in Laytonsville cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Center of Vindobona Nursing Home, Attn.: Pat Baker, P.O. Box 318, Braddock Heights, Md. 21714.

Mrs. Cappie Phillips
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mrs. Cappie Thomas Phillips, 59, of the 12500 block of Manor Road, in the Long Green area of Baltimore, died Monday, June 11, as a result of a house fire.

She was the wife of the late Charles Phillips.

She was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Thomas.

Mrs. Phillips' husband Charles, and her mother, Mary Thomas, died in the same fire.

Surviving are six children, Claudia Stephens of Frederick, and Debbie Pam Leonard, Janice Williams, Associate Minister Donald McBride, Pastor Lorenzo Maddox and the Rev. Alvin Phillips; one sister, Dorothy Moals; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 17, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Lemmon Funeral Home, 10 W. Padonia Road, Timonium-Cockeysville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Timonium United Methodist Church, Pot Spring and Chantry Road, Timonium.

Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens cemetery, Timonium.

The family requests donations be made to Phillips/Thomas Memorial Fund, c/o Chevy Chase Bank, 5308 Corporate Drive, Frederick, Md. 21703.

Mr. Charles Phillips
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mr. Charles Phillips, 69, of the 12500 block of Manor Road in the Long Green area of Baltimore, died Monday, June 11, as a result of a house fire.

He was the husband of the late Cappie Phillips. Mr. Phillips' wife and his mother-in-law, Mary Thomas, died in the same fire.

Mrs. Mary Thomas
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mrs. Mary Smith Thomas, 94, of the 12500 block of Manor Road in the Long Green area of Baltimore, died Monday, June 11, as a result of a house fire.

She was the wife of the late Edward Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas' daughter, Cappie Phillips and husband Charles, died in the same fire.

Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy Moals; 16 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildlren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 17, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Lemmon Funeral Home, 10 W. Padonia Road, Timonium-Cockeysville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Timonium United Methodist Church, Pot Spring and Chantry Road, Timonium.

Mrs. Antonia England
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mrs. Antonia Lou England, 68, of Leetown Road, Charles Town, W.Va., and formerly of Frederick, died Wednesday, June 13, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

She was the wife of George Marion England. They were married for 30 years.

Born June 13, 1933, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Louis Vaylord and Elizabeth Rinaldo Young.

Mrs. England retired after many years as an X-ray technician at Kissimmee Florida Hospital. She also assisted her husband with his thoroughbred race horses.

She was a Presbyterian.

She graduated from high school in New Jersey.

Surviving in addition to her husband are, one daughter, Hope Smith, and one son, Reginald Smith, both of Florida.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vaughna England.

Friends may call at Grissom Funeral Home, 803 W. Emmett St., Kissimmee, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 18.

Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Kissimmee, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Kissimmee.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Mr. Earl Gouker
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mr. Earl "Daddy Lee" Gouker, 78, of Pen Baugh Drive, Williamsport, died Wednesday, June 13, at his home.

He was the husband of Betty Ann Harmon Gouker, who died in 1968.

Born Oct. 14, 1922, in Smithsburg, he was a son of the late Paul C. and Fannie E. Lewis Gouker.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He retired from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown.

He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl J. Gouker of Middletown; two sons, Robert Gouker of Williamsport, and Charles Gouker of Brunswick; one sister, Elaine E. Kriner of Waynesboro; one brother, M. Leon Gouker of Waynesboro; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered by his companion, Virginia Hawkins.

An informal gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday, June 16, at 6 p.m. at Potomac Fish & Game Club Pavilion, 14241 Falling Waters Road, Williamsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Potomac Fish & Game Club, Building Fund, 14241 Falling Waters Road, Williamsport, Md. 21795.

Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.

Mr. John Garner
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mr. John Taylor Garner, 78, of Taney Avenue, Frederick, died Thursday, June 14, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 21, 1923, in Hollywood, Md., he was a son of the late William Alexander Sr. and Emily Taylor Garner.

Mr. Garner was a retired air traffic controller.

He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force. He participated in the Berlin Airlift.

He was a member of Francis X. Elder Post 121 of the American Legion, Emmitsburg; Emmitsburg Post 6658 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and St. Anthony's Shrine Parish, Emmitsburg.

Surviving are one brother, William A. Garner of Emmitsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Garner will also be remembered by his friends Delores Henke of Emmitsburg, and Howard Graham of Frederick.

Mr. Garner was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Taylor Garner Gregg.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, at St. Anthony's Shrine Parish Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, with Mr. Garner's pastor, the Rev. James Hannon as the celebrant.

Inurnment will be in St. Anthony's cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Shrine Parish, 16150 St. Anthony's Road, Emmitsburg, Md. 21727.

Arrangements are by Skiles Funeral Home, Emmitsburg.

Mrs. Lucille Flook
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mrs. Lucille "Maggie" Beard Flook, 81, of Frederick, died Friday, June 15, at Heartfield Assisted Living, Frederick.

She was the wife of the late Alden A. Flook.

Born Dec. 25, 1919, near Libertytown, she was a daughter of the late John E. Sr. and Mary E. Lare Beard.

Mrs. Flook was a long-time member of Chapel Lutheran Church, Libertytown. She assisted her husband in the operation of their businesses by conducting the administrative, book keeping and clerical duties. They were the proprietors of Flook Inc., a home heating oil trucking company and later operated a gas/service station at Evergreen Point.

She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She bowled with several teams in the Frederick area.

Surviving are two sisters, Ruth E. Foreman and Alma B. Rippeon, both of Frederick; two brothers, Paul R. Beard and wife Charlotte of Walkersville, and Donald D. Beard of Libertytown; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Flook was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ellen Knill; and one brother, John E. Beard Jr.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Chapel Lutheran Church, Daysville Road, Libertytown, with Mrs. Flook's pastor, the Rev. Dorothy A. Lundgren, officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in Union Chapel cemetery.

Mr. Raymond Christie
Dated: Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Mr. Raymond Luther Christie, 88, of Frederick, died Friday, June 15, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of M. Charlotte Dick Christie, his wife of 63 years.

Born Jan. 23, 1913, in Clymer, Pa., he was a son of the late Garnet and Edith Helman Christie.

Mr. Christie was an electrician with Alpha Portland Cement Co., retiring after 22 years service.

In his early years, he was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed hunting and camping, and eventually became a Scout leader. He also enjoyed pony racing.

Mr. Christie attended Johnson Bible College in Tennessee for two years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Beverly Phebus and husband Clark of Frederick, and Barbara Smith and husband Oscar of Frederick; six grandchildren, Greg Smith, Laurie Smith, Jennifer Hooper, Christopher Phebus, Kimberly Alger and Charles Smith; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Steele Christie.

Mr. Christie was preceded in death by one grandson, Glenn Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frederick Alliance Church, 1631 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, or to Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary, 1900 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, Md. 21702.
