Mr. David Pickett

Mr. David Williar Pickett, 58, of Woodbine, died Thursday, June 14, at Carroll County General Hospital, Westminster.

He was the husband of Eileen Sanner Pickett.

Born Nov. 10, 1942, in Frederick, he was a son of Marie Condon Pickett of Woodbine, and the late Ernest Williar Pickett,

Mr. Pickett was a self-employed landscaper and farmer. He was also a former mail carrier.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where he was a former church councilman; a member of Prudence Lodge 190 A.F.&A. Masons of Mount Airy, Heart of Maryland Antique Tractor Club, Maryland Tree Growers and Nurseries Association, and past member of the Maryland Farm Bureau.

Mr. Pickett enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Lisa Pickett Morgan and husband David, and Jessica Pickett Wrotten and husband Michael, all of Woodbine; two sons, Eric David Pickett and Jonathan James Pickett, both of Woodbine; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Heather and Brandon Morgan, all of Woodbine.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, where Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 16151 Old Frederick Road, Woodbine, with viewing at the church from 1 p.m. until time of services.

Interment will be in Morgan Chapel cemetery, Woodbine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morgan Chapel cemetery Fund, c/o Marjorie Pickett, 1929 Gillis Falls Road, Woodbine, Md. 21784.

Mrs. Blanche Eyler
Dated: Friday, June 15, 2001.
Mrs. Blanche L. Eyler, 84, of Plymouth, Minn., died Monday, June 4, in Minnesota.

She was the wife of Bernard Eyler, her husband of 55 years.

Mrs. Eyler was born in Wisconsin and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

She and her husband owned Joe's Cleaners in Frederick for over 30 years.

After retirement in 1977, Mrs. Eyler and her husband moved first to Eau Claire, Wis., and then to Plymouth, Minn.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Dennis Eyler and wife Virginia of Plymouth; three grandchildren, Geoff, Jessica and Stephanie Eyler, all of Plymouth; and one sister, Ruth Damerich of Milwaukee.

Mr. Robert Lawrence
Dated: Friday, June 15, 2001.
Mr. Robert E. Lawrence, 80, of Taneytown, died Wednesday, June 13, at Hanover (Pa.) Hospital.

He was the husband of Erma M. Halter Lawrence, who died May 17, 1993.

Born July 2, 1920, in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Norman and Blanche Feeser Lawrence.

He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Taneytown.

He was a contractor and an original partner of Valley Crest Builders of Littlestown, Pa., which began in 1972.

He is survived by four sons, Robert E. Lawrence and Thomas E. Lawrence, both of Westminster, John W. Lawrence of Hanover, and David L. Lawrence of Littlestown; one brother, Allen Lawrence of Emmitsburg; three sisters, Doris Albaugh and Helen Price, both of Emmitsburg, and Peggy Lawrence of Stewartstown, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and James Lawrence; and four sisters, Viola Long, Gladys Gladfelter, Doris Watcher and Betty Bowers Yeager.

Family will receive friends Sunday, June 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, at the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. J. Keith DeBord, officiating.

Interment will be in Grace United Church of Christ cemetery, Taneytown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Adams County Builders Association, Student Scholarships, P.O. Box 3321, Gettysburg, Pa. 17325; or Grace UCC Memorial Fund, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, Md. 21787.

Mrs. Catherine McKinnon
Dated: Thursday, June 14, 2001.
Mrs. Catherine Violet Shank May McKinnon, 66, of Rt. 2, Box 1107, Harpers Ferry, W.Va., formerly of Petersville, died Tuesday, June 12, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of William T. McKinnon Jr. who died in 1992.

Born April 29, 1935, on West Church Street, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Franklin and Maude Irene Hahn Shank.

Mrs. McKinnon worked for the Hartz Co. in Brunswick and Frederick. More recently, she operated the Ceramic Hut, where she taught ceramics.

She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136, and Loyal Order of Moose 1582, both of Brunswick, and Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, Frederick.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah May of Knoxville, and Tempie Powell of Woodsboro; five grandchildren, Shawnie Quigley of Harpers Ferry, Shelly Pendley of Knoxville, Marlin May of Walkersville, and Lacey and Trey Powell, both of Woodsboro; five great-grandchildren, Shadae Quigley of Harpers Ferry, Samantha and Sloan Whetzel, and Hunter Hanes, all of Knoxville, and Tracie May of Walkersville; one sister, Agnes Grimes of Walkersville; two brothers, Richard Shank of Pennsylvania, and Wayne Shank of Damascus; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. McKinnon will also be remembered by her former husband, Ernest May Jr. of Petersville; and her daughter Deborah's fiance, Rodney Whetzel of Knoxville.

Mrs. McKinnon was preceded in death by an infant brother, Harvey Franklin Shank Jr.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 14, and from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., both Thursday and Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the funeral home. The Rev. Charles R. Holder, of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Brownsville, will officiate.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

Mr. Reginald Clem
Dated: Thursday, June 14, 2001.
Mr. Reginald E. Clem, 49, of Towson, died Wednesday, May 30.

He was the husband of Kristin Kjerulff Clem, his wife of three years.

Born in Towson, he was a son of Charlotte Young Clem of Catonsville, and the late Donald W. Clem Sr.

He was a familiar figure on the Baltimore music scene for almost 30 years. He also sang with the Lovely Lane United Methodist Church Choir and the Handel Choir.

Mr. Clem was a graduate of Towson High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in classical music from Berklee School of Music in Boston in 1975 and played in bands before he returned to Baltimore to study at Peabody Conservatory.

He had worked for the past eight years as a computer programer at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn.

Surviving in addition to his mother are one brother, the Rev. Donald W. Clem Jr. of Rockville; one sister, Cynthia C. Letcher of Okeechobee, Fla.; two stepsons, Alan Itkin and Matthew Itkin, both of Towson; and other relatives, including Lloyd K. Hoover of Buckingham Choice, and the Rev. Dr. Raymond L. Roderick of Homewood Retirement Center.

Mrs. Ella Grimes
Dated: Thursday, June 14, 2001.
Mrs. Ella L. Grimes, 91, of Catonsville, died Wednesday, June 13, at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore.

She was the wife of the late Claude R. Grimes.

She was a daughter of the late William E. and Lavinia Brown Howes.

Mrs. Grimes was a homemaker.

Surviving are five daughters, Ella Virginia Nasuta of Baltimore, Nancy Miller of Arbutus, Claudine Mortensen of Columbia, Doris Neary of Pasadena, and Janet Saylor of Frederick; one son, Roland Grimes of Baltimore; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by one daughter, Annabelle Grimes; two sons, Raymond Grimes and James Grimes; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June, 14, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Witzke Funeral Home, 1630 Edmondson Ave., Catonsville, where funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16.

Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville.

Mrs. Hazel Hutton
Dated: Friday, April 13, 2001.
Mrs. Hazel E. Schmoll "Bette" Hutton, 90, of Bishop Nursing Home, died Tuesday, April 10, at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media, Pa.

She was the wife of William H. Hutton, who died in 1974. They were married Sept. 10, 1953.

Born June 16, 1910, in Luzerne County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Viola Lydia Shupp Schmoll.

She was employed as an operator at Bell Telephone Co. for more than 19 years.

She is survived by one son, Frank P. Kocher of Bishop Nursing Home; one step-daughter, Marilyn Mackley of Frederick; one stepson, Howard Hutton of Waynesboro, Pa.; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, William Kocher; two stepsons, Darrell B. Hutton and William Hutton; one sister; and several brothers.

Graveside service was held Thursday, April 12, in Green Hill cemetery, Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen officiated.

Memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, 105 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.

Arrangements were by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro.

Mr. Harry Weddle
Dated: Tuesday, April 10, 2001.
Mr. Harry S. "Buck" Weddle, 83, of 50 Centennial St., Frostburg, died Monday, April 9, at his residence.

He was the husband of Catherine McGuire Weddle, who died April 9, 1986.

Born Dec. 26, 1917, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Ira and Grace Fisher Weddle.

He retired in 1976 after 35 years of service as lead lineman for Potomac Edison.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was the public relations director of the Thunder Valley Raceway, Antioch, W.Va., and enjoyed the outdoors as a hunter, fisherman and boater.

He is survived by two daughters, Ann L. Leatherman of Antioch and Susan R. Malloy and husband Brian of Corrigansville; four sons, Harry S. Weddle Jr. and wife Sandy of Bellwood, Pa., James J. Weddle Sr. and wife Georgia of Hagerstown, and Michael R. Weddle and wife Helen, and Christopher E. Weddle and wife Carol, all of Frostburg; one brother, Lee Weddle of Frederick; three sisters, Barbara Norwood and Lena Fogle, both of Frederick, and Mary Waltz of Richmond, Va.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Long; three brothers, John, Joseph and Guy Weddle; one son-in-law, Ray Leatherman Sr.; and one granddaughter, Kayla Leatherman.

Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday, April 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at the funeral home. The Rev. William Moody will officiate.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Parish cemetery. Military honors will be given at graveside by Farrady Post 24 American Legion combined honor guard.

The family requests in lieu of flowers contribution be made to the American Heart Association or the Western Maryland Health System.

Mr. Charles Offutt
Dated: Tuesday, April 10, 2001.
Mr. Charles Edward "Chuck" Offutt, 52, of Richlands, N.C., died Saturday, April 7, at his home.

He was the husband of Sharon Byrd Offutt.

He was the son of Linwood and Helen Walters Offutt of Frederick.

Mr. Offutt served in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as a first sergeant in 1990, and worked with Craven Electric Supply Co.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his parents are two daughters, Wendy Floyd of Louisburg, N.C., and Kimberly Briese of Richlands; two sisters, Virginia Miller of Frederick, and Arlene Roderick of Ijamsville; one brother, Linwood Offutt Jr. of Frederick; and four grandchildren, Jessica Briese, Elizabeth Floyd, Kristy Briese and Joseph Floyd.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Offutt and Franklin Offutt.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Jones Funeral Home, Richlands.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Richlands United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charlene Pierce-Guider officiating.

Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Coastal Carolina State Veterans cemetery, Jacksonville, N.C.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart Association N.C. Affiliate Inc., P.O. Box 2636, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27515-2636.
