Mr. Carl Webb

Mr. Carl Edward Webb, 37, of Frederick, died Friday, April 6, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of Kelly Leigh Brandenburg Webb, whom he married May 10, 1986.

Born April 17, 1963, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Stewart E. and Mary Reid Webb.

He was a 1981 graduate of Frederick High School.

Mr. Webb was employed with the City of Gaithersburg since 1982 and, at the time of his death, served as a fleet manager.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 289 of Frederick.

Mr. Webb enjoyed hunting, fishing and mechanical repair of old cars.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Christopher Carl Webb and Kristin Leigh Webb, both at home; four brothers, Bud Webb and wife Margaret of Urbana, Roger Webb and wife Patsy of Adamstown, John Webb and wife Jerry of Knoxville, and David Webb of Tennessee; three sisters, Patsy Bloss of Canastota, N.Y., Vivian Painter and husband Robert of Buckeystown, and Mary Smith and husband Charles of Adamstown; parents-in-law, Bill and Connie Stalnaker of Frederick, and E. Lee and Terry Brandenburg of Brunswick; one sister-in-law, Kimber Shank and husband Randall of Frederick; numerous nieces and nephews, including Ashley and Stephanie Shank; and a number of aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 8, and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Oravec officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Dorothy Wilhide
Dated: Saturday, April 7, 2001.
Mrs. Dorothy M. Wilhide, 86, of Holiday, Fla., died Thursday, April 5, at Tandem Health Care of New Port Richey, Florida.

She was the wife of Theodore Winzinger. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert W. Wilhide Sr.

She was born in Myersville, and moved to Holiday from Hagerstown in 1973.

She retired in 1973 as vice president of sales for Berger Brothers Inc., New Haven, Conn., after 10 years.

She was a member King of Glory Lutheran Church, New Port Richey; Women of the Moose Chapter 1614, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and past president and lifetime member of the Suncoast Maryland Club, New Port Richey.

She was organizer and first president of the Gad-a-bout Travel Club, Holiday TAT Civic Association, Holiday. She was a charter member of The Dopey Sister of Frederick.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Robert W. Wilhide Jr. of Hertford, N.C., and John E. Wilhide of Pasadena; one brother, Bradley Routzahn of Hagerstown; one sister, Lugenia Keilholtz of New Port Richey; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Routzahn; and one sister, Jane Baker.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, April 7, at Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home, Holiday.

Interment will be in Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens, New Port Richey.

Mrs. Jane Ramsburg
Dated: Saturday, April 7, 2001.
Mrs. Jane Elmyra Ramsburg, 67, of 1044 Arnoldstown Road, Jefferson, died Friday, April 6, at her home.

She was the wife of Paul Edward Ramsburg, who died Aug. 3, 1989.

Born March 24, 1934, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Mack Franklin and Catherine Schaeffer Helman.

Mrs. Ramsburg was a member of Locust Valley Bible Church, Middletown.

Surviving are three children, John David Helman of Yellow Springs, W.Va., Elaine Richards of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Kenneth Ramsburg of Middletown; one sister, Martha Ruffner of Winchester, Va.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ramsburg was preceded in death by one brother, Mack Helman.

Friends may call at any time Sunday, April 8, at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at the funeral home, with Mrs. Ramsburg's pastor, the Rev. Dr. Curvin D. Stambaugh, officiating.

Interment will be in Locust Valley Bible Church cemetery, Middletown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, Md. 21705-1799.

Mrs. Lena Johnson
Dated: Monday, April 9, 2001.
Mrs. Lena Mae Johnson, 81, of 10183 Winston Drive, Mount Pleasant, died Friday, April 6, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.

Twice married , her first husband was Roy Dockery, who died in 1978. Her second husband was William H. Johnson, who died in 1994.

Born Nov. 28,1919, in Pardee, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice Bledsoe Sams.

She was formerly employed as a waitress with Maryland Square Restaurant, Baltimore, for 30 years.

She is survived by six daughters, Ellen Cress and Tammy Williams, both of Mount Pleasant, Brenda Feltner of Richmond, Va., Phyllis Giffin and Linda Yeatts, both of Baltimore, and Debra Whiting of Glen Burnie; two sons, Ray Dockery and Allan Dockery, both of Mount Pleasant; two brothers, Ronald Sams of Annapolis, and Roy Sams of Virginia; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ireland; one sister, Helen Seals; and two brothers, Earl and Paul Sams.

The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown, on Monday, April 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry A. Price, pastor of Maranatha Church of God, Frederick, officiating. Entombment will be in Loudon Park cemetery, Baltimore.

Dr. Jack Dacre
Dated: Monday, April 9, 2001.
Dr. Jack Craven Dacre, 81, of Frederick, died Saturday, April 7, at College View Nursing Center, Frederick.

He was the husband of Jean R. Olney Dacre, his wife of 50 years.

Born Jan. 1, 1920, in Auckland, New Zealand, he was a son of the late George Craven and Grace Piper Dacre.

Dr. Dacre was a toxicologist working at Fort Detrick for more than 20 years. He earned degrees at Auckland University in New Zealand and his doctorate at London University in England.

He enjoyed gardening and was a stamp collector.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Kenneth J. Dacre, Terrence M. Dacre and wife Donna, and Paul C. Dacre, all of Frederick; and one grandson, Michael C. Dacre of Frederick.

Dr. Dacre was preceded in death by one son, Simon Dacre.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Thelma Staley
Dated: Monday, April 9, 2001.
Mrs. Thelma Hooper Staley, 83, of 250 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, formerly of Frederick, died Sunday, April 8, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.

She was the wife of Herbert R. Staley, who died June 23, 1996. They were married April 30, 1939.

Born Jan. 17, 1918, in Frederick County, she was a daughter of the late U. Grant and Virgie Cutsail Hooper.

Mrs. Staley and her husband had moved to Carroll Lutheran Village in 1994.

She was a former member of Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, the Frederick Civinettes, the Rose Hill Garden Club, and the Frederick Homemakers Club.

She was involved in many activities at Carroll Lutheran Village.

Surviving are one daughter, Constance S. Browning and husband David R. of Reisterstown; two grandsons, William R. Browning of Westminster, and James D. Browning of Owings Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Staley was preceded in death by two brothers, U. Mehrl Hooper and J. Harold Hooper; and two sisters, Courtney Staley and Evelyn Putman.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster. Friends may call one hour before the services. The Rev. Jimmie Schwartz, chaplain of Carroll Lutheran Village, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, Md. 21158.

Mrs. Cecile Veit
Dated: Monday, April 9, 2001.
Mrs. Cecile L. Trent Veit, 86, of Frederick, died Sunday, April 8, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville.

She was the wife of the late Walter L. Veit.

Born March 5, 1915, in Sneedville, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Kitty Garland Trent.

Mrs. Veit was a homemaker.

Surviving are three sons, William F. Cole, Roger N. Cole and Leonard G. Cole; and six grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick.

Mr. Alan Wiles
Dated: Monday, April 9, 2001.
Mr. Alan Kent Wiles, 31, of Highland School Road, Myersville, died Sunday, April 8, at his home.

Born March 17, 1970, in Hagerstown, he was a son of Merhl F. Jr. and Gail Summers Wiles, with whom he resided.

Mr. Wiles was a Middletown High School graduate. He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville, and The Sons of the American Legion, Glen Eyler Post 282, Woodsboro.

He earned a black belt in karate and in 1993 was the Maryland state champion in breaking and placed third in the state in sparring. He was an avid fisherman and had a love for landscaping. He snowboarded in Colorado and British Columbia and taught snowboarding at Whitetail Ski Resort, Mercersburg, Pa.

Surviving in addition to his parents are one brother, Merhl Lee Wiles and wife Lorie of Smithsburg; one sister, Heather Wiles of Myersville; his paternal grandparents, Merhl F. Sr. and Mary Wiles of Myersville; maternal grandparents, Mark and Alice Summers of Walkersville; two nieces, Amanda Wiles and Desiree Brown; and one nephew, Derell Brown.

Mr. Wiles will also be remembered by his friends, Kimberly Shaffer of Walkersville, Roy Harp of Myersville, Frank Russell of Colorado, Marvin and Trex Schwab of Chevy Chase, and Bauer Knight and David Flight of Tibetan Meditation Center, Gambrill Park Road, Frederick.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Wolfsville Road, Myersville. Pastor Tim Ritchie Martin and the Rev. Robert E. Steinke will officiate.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, Md. 21702-0799, or John R. Marsh Cancer Center, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

Arrangements are by Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville.

Mrs. Mabel Slick
Dated: Monday, April 9, 2001.
Mrs. Mabel K. Roberts Slick, 62, of Mount Airy, died Saturday, April 7, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of Raymond R. Slick Sr.

Born Oct. 26, 1938, in Rockville, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Parks Roberts.

She was a housewife.

She was an avid Washington Redskins fan, and loved bingo and crafts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Raymond R. Slick Jr. and wife Sherry Langley of Frederick, and Johnna L. Fritz and husband Randy of Mount Airy; four sisters, Barbara Lawson of Charles Town, W.Va., Esther Wood of Gaithersburg, Sandra Myers of Burnt Cabins, Pa., Victoria Via of Frederick; two brothers, Melvin and John Roberts of Wheaton; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Slick; and three sisters, Leneta Regenia Williams, Joan Treant and Patricia Sonifrank.

Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, Monday, April 9 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10 at the funeral home with the Rev. Wallace Lusk officiating. Interment will be in Full Gospel cemetery, Lisbon.
