Mr. Howard Dorsey

Mr. Howard Vincent Dorsey, 86, of Mount Airy died Tuesday, April 3, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Hattie May Warner Dorsey.
Born Aug. 6, 1914, in Damascus, he was a son of the late Richard and Annie Dunmark Dorsey.
Mr. Dorsey was a custodian for Montgomery County public schools, working at Damascus Elementary School for the 12 years prior to his retirement in 1976.
He enjoyed gardening and watching TV especially watching basketball, wrestling and following the Orioles.
He was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, Poplar Springs.
Surviving are six children, Kenneth Dorsey and wife Lucille, and Annabelle Jones and husband John, all of Mount Airy, Betty Dorsey Troxell and husband Charles, and Virginia Myers, all of Frederick, Howard Dorsey Jr. of Silver Spring, and Arline Tunson of Ellicott City; 32 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dorsey was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Dorsey, Paul Dorsey and Preston Dorsey; and one sister, Goldie Flammer.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy. Mr. Dorsey's pastor, the Rev. Gregory McNeil, will officiate.
Interment will be in Simpson United Methodist Church cemetery, Poplar Springs.
Mr. Paul Grant

Mr. Paul Francis Grant, 79, died Monday, April 2, at Prince George's Hospital Center, Cheverly.
Mr. Grant's first marriage to Marguerite F. Bohn, the mother of his children, ended in divorce. His second and third marriages to Frances and Joyce, respectively, ended with their deaths.
Born Oct. 11, 1921, in the old Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Margaret A. Sutton and Paul Grant.
He was a sixth-generation Washingtonian.
Mr. Grant was a graduate of Gonzaga College High School.
He was glass installer/estimator by trade and owned Abe Glass Co., in Lusby, until he sold the company. He then worked for General Glass Corp. in suburban Maryland for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post 274, Lusby, and a veteran of foreign wars.
He is survived by five children, Anne M. Pakenas and Charles P. Grant, both of Adamstown, James P. Grant of Ijamsville, Rita C. Jacobs of Cambridge, and Julianne Felton of Port Orange, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by son Paul Michael Grant.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Rausch Funeral Home, 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, with a service at 5 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Arlington National cemetery.
Mr. Michael Wallace

Mr. Michael Arden Wallace, 54, of Surfside Beach, S.C., formerly of the Frederick area, died Monday, April 2, at his home.
He was the husband of Dorothy Carroll Wallace.
Born Nov. 21, 1946, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry M. Jr. and Mary Louise Starnes Wallace.
He was a retired firefighter with the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David A. Wallace and wife Sharon of Finksburg, and Steven A. Wallace of Surfside Beach; one brother, Douglas L. Wallace Sr. of Monrovia; one niece; three nephews; and one great-nephew.
Friends may call Friday, April 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7 at the funeral home.
A private interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Children's National Medical Center, Developmental Office, 111 Michigan Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20010 or the charity of choice.
Ms. Wanda Tregoning

Ms. Wanda Jean Mercer Tregoning, 45, of Mount Airy, died Wednesday, April 4, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 4, 1955, in Frederick, she was a daughter of Charles E. and Mary R. Parrish Mercer of Frederick.
Ms. Tregoning was a homemaker.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two children, Brenda Lee Tregoning of Hagerstown, and Jimmy Tregoning of Frederick; six grandchildren, Alyssa, Devin, Dylan, Paige, Tyler and Noah; one brother, Charles L. Mercer of Middletown; two sisters, Kathy Staley of Frederick, and Candy Mercer of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews, including Tina Staley, Gary Staley and Ashton Mercer.
Ms. Tregoning will also be remembered by her sister Candy's friend, Douglas Layman.
Ms. Tregoning was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Mercer.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 5, and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lerry W. Fogle, of Frederick Church of the Brethren, officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

Miss Cornelia Hickman

Miss Cornelia Welling Hickman, 99, a life-long resident of Point of Rocks, died Wednesday, April 4, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick.
Born June 23, 1901, in Point of Rocks, she was a daughter of the late Sidney Ritchie and Bessie Lee Kanode Hickman.
Miss Hickman was a 1919 graduate of Frederick High School, and had attended Hood College.
She served as postmaster of the Point of Rocks post office for 39 years, retiring in 1971.
Miss Hickman was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Point of Rocks, and had served as treasurer and caretaker of St. Paul's cemetery for many years. The social hall at the church was named in honor of her family.
She was a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States.
Surviving are two nephews, David A. Hickman Jr. of Knoxville, and Donald S. Brown Jr. of Columbia; and four great-nieces, Leslie N. Hickman, Carrie E. Hickman, Julie M. Brown and Jenny L. Brown.
Miss Hickman was preceded in death by two brothers, Sidney R. Hickman Jr. and David Austin Hickman Sr.; and one sister, Kathleen Lee Hickman Brown.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Friends may also call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the social hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Guy Fouts, rector of the church, officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Estella May

Mrs. Estella Chesley Main May, 92, of Verona, Va., formerly of Frederick from 1927 to 1937, died Saturday, March 31, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Va.
Twice married
, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Austin Main and Raymond May.
Born Oct. 11, 1908, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Daniel S. and Goldie Erb Chesley.
Mrs. May graduated from Hagerstown High School and was a homemaker.
She attended Shenandoah Baptist Church, Verona.
She was a volunteer for Blue Ridge Food Bank in Verona, and previously for the American Red Cross and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol V. Crouch of Dorrington, Calif.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one stepson, Charles May of Raphine, Va.; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one nephew.
Friends may call anytime beginning Sunday morning, April 8, at Lindsey Funeral Home, 982 Keezletown Road, Weyers Cave, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, at the funeral home with Pastor Dale Meyerhoeffer officiating.
Graveside interment services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, in Resthaven Methodist cemetery, Clearbrook, Va.
