Mr. Irvin Bauerlien

Irvin James Bauerlien, 81, of Westminster, died Wednesday night, Nov. 14, 2007 at his daughter's home in Union Bridge.

Born Jan. 16, 1926 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Casper J. Bauerlien and Lillian K. Turfle Bauerlien. He was the husband of Thelma Pauline Hyser Bauerlien who died June 2, 2001.

Before retiring he worked at Black and Decker for 35 years. He had his own construction business for several years. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Moose Lodge in Gettysburg, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #2226, and the VFW Molleville Farm Post #467.

He enjoyed camping, playing cards, bowling, farming his farmette and caring for his many animals.

Survived by son, Roy Edward Bauerlien and wife, Patsy, of Taneytown; son, Kenneth Eugene Bauerlien and wife, Emily, of Littlestown, Pa.; son, Bart Wayne Bauerlien and fiancˇ, Caren Beccaglia, of Virginia; daughter, Donnalee Mary Hartman and friend, Wayne Baker, of Taneytown; daughter, Janet Marie Stephan and husband, Terry, of Union Bridge; daughter, Vicki Jean Karl and husband, Robert, of Westminster; friend, Edna Henry of Westminster; brothers, Robert Bauerlien, of Westminster, and Ralph P. Bauerlien, of Hagerstown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Ray Hyser, Clarence "Sonny" Hyser, Fred and Betty Hyser; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by a son James Irvin Bauerlien, great-granddaughter Kaylee Marie Price and brothers, Casper, Gilbert, Henry, Wilbur, Edward, and Joseph Bauerlien.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home, P.A., 254 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157.

Interment in Westminster cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home..

Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.

Mrs. Clara Late

Mrs. Clara Jean Late, 68, of Thurmont, died Wednesday, November 14 at the Gettysburg Lutheran Home, Gettysburg, Pa. She was the wife of the late George Michael Late.

Born March 9, 1939, in Thurmont, she was a daughter of the late Chester Allen and Lottie Marie Kline Stull.

Mrs. Late had been employed as a clerk with the Thurmont Pharmacy. She was a member of Weller United Methodist Church, Thurmont, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Thurmont Senior Citizens and had previously volunteered at the Thurmont Elementary School.

Surviving are four children, Michael A. Late and Melanie Cornwell and husband, Daniel, all of Frederick, Mark D. Late, of Gettysburg, and Maria Derexson, of Westminster; two grandchildren, Kelsey Late and Kylie Late, both of Thurmont; and seven brothers and sisters, Clifford Stull and wife, Margie, Roland James Stull and wife, Carolyn, Faye Webster, Chester Stull, and Priscilla Nash and husband, Charlie, all of Thurmont, Nancy Stull, of Waynesboro Pa., and Shirley Lantz and husband, Richard, of Sabillasville. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Bledsoe.

Mrs. Late is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 East Main Street, Thurmont, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, November 18.

On Monday, November 19, Mrs. Late will be removed to the Weller United Methodist Church, 101 North Altamont Avenue, Thurmont, where she will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time services will begin with her pastor the Reverend Richard C. Broome officiating.

Interment will be in Blue Ridge cemetery, Thurmont.

Mr. Robert Taylor

Mr. Robert D. Taylor, 65, of Poolesville, died Tuesday Nov. 13, 2007.

He was the loving husband of Sandralee T. Taylor.

Born on May 13, 1942 in Birmingham, Ala. he was the son of the late Learon and Marjorie Wolf Taylor.

Mr. Taylor proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam War, was a graduate of the University of Maryland and a member of the Terrapin Club.

Surviving besides his wife are his two children, Robin T. Magaha and husband, Rinnie, of Beallsville, Brian C. Taylor and wife, Tara, of Aberdeen and four grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Maddison and Mackenzie.

He was preceded in death by one brother, D. Richard Taylor.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Bob will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 20100 Fisher Ave., Poolesville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Peter's Episcopal Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 387, Poolesville, MD 20837.

Arrangements are by Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville.

Mrs. Mary Richardson

Mary Katharine Richardson, 85, of Frederick, passed away in her sleep, Nov. 16, at the Glade Valley Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Harry L. Richardson Sr., who died April 23, 1989.

She was born on the family farm near Libertytown in 1921. She was the second oldest of twelve sisters and brothers. Her parents, Vernon and Lydia Ann Hines, were lifelong dairy farmers in Frederick County.

Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker, an excellent cook and avid gardener, and enjoyed sewing and feeding her wild birds. She was a faithful member of the Parkway Church of God for over 65 years. She was past President of W.C.S.C. She was a deaconess at the old Parkway Church for eight years and taught Sunday School classes for many years.

Surviving is her son, Harry L. Richardson Jr. and wife, Deborah, of New Market; granddaughter, Katie Richardson and her mother, Shirley, of Frederick; and grandson, Michael Richardson and his mother, Mary Jo Maaske, of Tucson, AZ. Three brothers, George Hines and wife, Fern, of Union Bridge, Ken Hines, Tom Hines and wife, Rose, all of Woodsboro; four sisters, Annabelle Kline, of Frederick, Mabel MacDonald and husband, Charles, of Silver Springs, FL, Pauline Davis, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Dorothy Wojan and husband, Art, of Charlevoix, Mich.; sister-in-law, Pat Hines, of Thurmont; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Barry D. Richardson, of Frederick and Thomas A. Richardson of Tucson, Ariz.

Mrs. Richardson is at the Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, 1201 North Market Street. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the funeral home with her pastor Rev. Dr. Howard L. Ruley, Parkway Church of God, officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Woodsboro.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Richardson's name to the Parkway Church of God, 5665 New Design Road, Frederick, MD 21703.

Mr. Robert S. Rizzo

Mr. Robert S. Rizzo, 80, of Cedar Grove, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, at his home, after a battle with cancer. He was the husband of Grace H. Rizzo, his wife of 46 years.

Born Feb. 4, 1927 in New Jersey, he was a son of the late Gactano E. and Dorothy M. Newton Rizzo.

Mr. Rizzo was employed with the National Institutes of Health Computer Center, retiring in 1982.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II during the Normandy Invasion; and also in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War.

Surviving, besides his wife, are one stepson, George R. Heffner III and his wife, Patsy, of Clarksburg; two sisters, Joan Clower, of Gaithersburg, and Betty Elkins and her husband, Floyd, of College Park.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the funeral home. Rev. Carroll Gunkel, of Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Grove will officiate. Pallbearers will be George R. Heffner III, William K. Watkins, Myles Weber, Thomas Guarino, Robert Dorman and Juston Weber. Entombment with military honors will be in Mount Olivet cemetery Mausoleum, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Salem United Methodist Church, 23725 Ridge Road, Germantown, MD 20876.

Mr. Donald Horine

Donald Warren Horine, 83, of Hagerstown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at his home.

Born in Hagerstown on August 30, 1924, he was the son of the late John Clayton and Laura Catherine Horine.

During World War II, he served as a ball turret gunner with the 449th Bomb Group of the 15th Air Force, which was based in Grottaglie, Italy and flew combat missions against strategic targets in Nazi-held Europe. He continued his military service for 41 years as a Master Sergeant with the 167th Air National Guard in Martinsburg, W.Va.

He was employed with the Hagerstown City Police, the Washington County Sheriff's Department and the Pangborn Corporation. He was a life member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks Club and the World War II Last Man's Club. From 1953 to 1954 he was the post commander of American Legion Morris Frock Post #42. He attended Haven Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

He was married for 44 years to Eileene Van Scoy Horine, who predeceased him. He is survived by daughters, Patricia Souders and Frances Van Scoy, of Hagerstown and daughter, Linda Berg, of Pinellas Park, Fla.; son, William Van Scoy, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Arlington Clayton Horine and Nelson C. Horine.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Haven Lutheran Church, 1035 Haven Road, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the USO Care Package, P.O. Box 8069, Topeka, KS 66608 or to Help Hospitalized Veterans, 36585 Penfield Land, Winchester, CA 92596.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Mr. Charles Sine Jr.

Charles William Sine Jr., 79, of Middletown died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Rose Elizabeth Fox Sine for 57 years.

Born in Washington, Oct. 3, 1928, he was a son of the late Charles William Sr. and Ethel Viola Everhart Sine.

Mr. Sine was a captain with the Metropolitan Police force in Washington, retiring in 1971 after 21 years of service. He was the motorcycle escort for Premier Khruschev in 1959 and also in charge of the detail that escorted President John F. Kennedy's body back to Washington in 1963.

He was also served as Deputy Chief of Security with the Metropolitan Transit Authority until his retirement in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by two devoted daughters, Bonnie Ethel Louise Johnson and husband, Horace Sanford (Sandy), of Winchester, Va. and Susan Rodman Gnatt and husband, Sheldon, of Ellicott City. Six loving grandchildren, Brady Johnson, Travis Johnson, Danielle Giannandrea and husband, Frank, Brett William Rodman, Daren Scott Rodman and Melanie Fae Gnatt. One great-granddaughter, Brianna Guethner. Two sisters, Betty Mae Sine, of Frederick and Virginia Dare Hedges, of Silver Spring. Two brothers, of Donald Wilbur Sine and wife, Dolly, of Belleair Bluffs, Fla., and Douglas Lee Sine and wife, Su, of Walkersville.

He was also predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ann Sine, Jan. 3, 1999.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, from the funeral home. Preacher Sandy Johnson and Rev. Dawn Volpe will officiate. Interment will be made in Christ Reformed Church cemetery, Middletown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation, DC/MD/VA chapter, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855.

Mrs. Edna Bartlett

Edna Loudell Bartlett, 56, of Frederick, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at her home. She was the loving wife of David E. Bartlett.

Born February 23, 1951 in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Virginia (Sis) Lowery.

Loudell retired from the U.S. Government with 27 years of service on May 3. She was a Budget Analyst at Fort Detrick.

Loudell was a 1969 graduate of Brunswick High School. She loved playing basket bingo and enjoyed collecting Longaberger Baskets. She also enjoyed watching her boys as well as her grandchildren play sports.

In addition to her husband, Dave, she is survived by three sons, David Dinges and wife, Shannon, of Charles Town, W.Va., Steve Dinges and wife, Amy, of Jefferson, and Paul Brohawn and fiancˇ, Jackie Kujawski, of Walkersville; one daughter, Jennifer Bartlett, of Frederick; 10 grandchildren, Cody, Allie, Zachary D., Zachary K., Ryan, Dakota, David, Collin, Zoe and Aidan; three sisters, Linda Thee and husband, Clyde, of Brunswick, Pattie Nichols and husband, George, of Kearneysville, W.Va. and Misti Glascock and husband, Robert, of Strasburg, Va.; three brother-in-laws, Randy Bartlett and wife, Dorinda, of Frederick, Wayne Bartlett, of Huntsville, Ala. and Dennis Bartlett, of Huntsville, Ala.; four nephews, Floyd, Jamie, Brian and Jonathan; five nieces, Georgia, Amanda, Jennifer, Danielle, Lauren; her in-laws, Betty and Ed Storks; and a special cousin, Melinda Barnhouse. She will also be remembered by her five great nieces MaKayla, Tess, Emilie, Tara and Shanna, and all of her special friends.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Patches Michelle Brohawn; her grandparents, Harry and Lacy Loudell Powers and Charles and Martha Lowery; and great nephews, Joseph and Jeffery Thee.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Orvac officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be David Dinges, Steve Dinges, Paul Brohawn, Floyd Thee, Jamie Thee, Brian Nichols, Randy Bartlett and Ray Mangold.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.

Mr. Robert Mason

Robert Wayne Mason, 69, of Middletown, died suddenly Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Jo Hayes Mason.

Born May 7, 1938, he was a son of the late William Harry and Mabel Raines Mason. He was an Air Force veteran from 1957 to 1961.

He was employed as a systems technician with AT&T; until his retirement.

Surviving, besides his wife, are, two children, William Terry Mason and wife, Tara, of Brooklin Maine and their children, Laurelin and Walter; Lori Mason McQueen and husband, Jeremy, of Waynesboro, Pa. and their children, Alex and Erin.

Three sisters, Elizabeth Bowman, Williamsburg, Va.; Lynn Pohl, of Baldwinville, N.Y.; Vashtie Thompson, of Centreville, Va. Special friends, Mike and Lisa Auldridge, of Silver Spring.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be private. The family requests the omission of flowers.

Mrs. Kathryne Lechlider

Kathryne Irene Lechlider passed away November 16, 2007, and is survived by: husband, Charles J. Lechlider Sr. and three children, Shirley Jo Lechlider of Germantown, Betty Ann Tubbs of Jacksonville, Fla., and Charles J. Lechlider Jr. of Hagerstown. Also eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; also three sisters and two brothers.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville, and to follow the interment at Gates of Heaven cemetery in Aspen Hill
