Mrs. Dolores Sherwood

Dolores "Marie" Sherwood, 90, of Frederick passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Sherwood.

Born March 21, 1918, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Wilbert Ruble and Elizabeth Browning Ruble.

Marie was a life member of the Gaithersburg Washington Grove Fire Department Auxiliary, a life member of the VFW, a life member of the Military Order of the Cooties, a member of the Maryland State Fireman's Association Auxiliary and a regular member of the Gaithersburg Senior Center.

She loved bingo and she was an avid sports fan, baseball being her favorite. She was loyal to the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Redskins.

She is survived by five children, Charles Vernon Sherwood Jr. and wife, Suzanne, of Frederick, Theresa Mason and husband, Mike, of Frederick, Catherine Magruder and life partner, Mary, of Gaithersburg, Robert Sherwood of Gaithersburg and John Michael Sherwood and wife, Melissa, of Boonsboro; 13 grandchildren, Shaune, James, Tara, Samantha, Trina, Seth, Terrence, Julia, Jennifer, Joshua, Timothy, Christian and Savanna; 12 great-grandchildren, Brendan, Stephen, Cassandra, Andrew, Treshon, Cody, Mikayla, Liam, Alexander, Eva Marie, Tyler and Josiah. She will also be remembered by a niece and nephew.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Ryan and Phillip Ruble and a nephew, Stephen Ryan.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the funeral home. Rev. Gregory Zetts, Rev. David Oravec and Father Frazier officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. James Troglin

James Richard (Rick) Troglin, of Frederick, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008. Born June 23, 1950, in Oak Ridge, Tenn., he was the son of the late Patty and Marion Troglin.

He retired in 1989 as a master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps after serving 21 years. He proudly served his country in Vietnam, Helsinki, and Leningrad, as well as Geneva during the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT). He also served at Naval Intelligence Command in Maryland, the Fleet Marine Corps Pacific, and volunteered for recall during Desert Storm. Among his many commendations, he received two Meritorious Service medals during his military career.

After retirement from the Marine Corps, he completed a degree in business management from Hood College and began a career in sales within the industrial construction equipment industry where he worked for a number of years. Whatever he pursued, he did so with enthusiasm, pride and determination. He also enjoyed volunteering to help others, most recently at his church and local animal shelter.

Rick's life was an adventurous one. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking, music and, most of all, "talking story" with his friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and lived a very full life. He was a member of the B.P.O Elks, the American Legion, the Marine Corps Intelligence Assn., the Marine Embassy Guard Assn., and a lifetime member of the Bowleys Quarters Fire Department

He will be sorely missed by his wife of 24 years, Miriam of Frederick; step-daughters, Kelly Steele and husband, Al, and granddaughter, Allison, of Leesburg, Va. and Kris Pettit and husband, Larry, of Frederick; and daughter and son, Stephanie and Adam Troglin of Jacksonville, N.C. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Michael of Rockville, Kathy Plavko and husband, Mike, of State College, Pa., and Karen Hastey and husband, Ron, of Walters, Okla.; and brother, Mason Troglen of Sparta, Tenn., as well as a number of loving nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by the many dear friends he made throughout his life.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St. Frederick. A celebration of Rick's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at The Church of the Transfiguration, 6909 Maryland Ave., Braddock Heights, with the Rev. Henry Sabetti officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 24, at Arlington National cemetery. Those wishing to attend, please gather at the Administration Building by 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Frederick County Animal Control Shelter, 1832 Rosemont Ave, Frederick, MD, 21702 or a charity of your choice.

Mrs. Mary Moss

Mrs. Mary Nusz Moss, 91, a lifelong resident of Yellow Springs, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at the Vindobona Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Monroe R. "Pete" Moss, who died Oct. 22, 2001.

Born Nov. 3, 1916, in Yellow Springs, she was the daughter of the late Guy E. and Nellie Nusz.

Mrs. Moss was a homemaker most of her life. Mrs. Moss was a lifelong member of Brookhill United Methodist Church, and she attended the Senior Citizens in Libertytown, and she liked to attend "Food and Friends."

Surviving is her brother-in-law, Rhudel Putman of Frederick; sisters-in-law, Florence Nusz of Yellow Springs and Louise Moss of Frederick; nieces and nephews surviving include, Eugene, Ronald and Robert Putman, Patsy J. Twentey, Judy Remsberg, Debbie Fry Kefauver, Richard and James Moss, Susan Anderson. She was additionally survived by a very special friend, Janet Korell Rice.

Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by her sisters, Mae Nusz Fry and Helen Putman; her brothers, Clarence and Guy Nusz, and sisters-in-law, Ruth Moss Linton and Blanche Moss Wachter.

Visitation with family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Rev. Linda A. Warehime will officiate. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

The Moss family wishes to extend their thanks to the Somerford Home and Vindobona Nursing Home for the care Mrs. Moss received during the past three years.

Mr. Ivan Smith

Mr. Ivan Wallace Smith, 80, of Ijamsville, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008. He was born in Ohio.

Mr. Smith retired as an Administrative Law judge with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

He was the beloved husband of Carmelita N. Smith; father of Jeffrey D. (Myrna), Timothy W. (Cynthia), Patrick J. (Eileen), John M. (Kristin) Smith, Valerie A. (David) Eddy and the late Daniel D. Smith; father-in-law of Jeanne C. Smith; grandfather of Tim, Brendan, Sam, Laura, Chris, Colin, Jeremy, Becca and Patrick.

Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring. A funeral serivce will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church Georgia Ave. and Emory Church Road, Olney.

Interment will be at Gate of Heaven cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Frederick County Hepatitis Clinic, 350 Montevue Lane, Frederick, MD 21702.

Mrs. Lena Dinterman

Lena V. Dinterman, of Hagerstown and formerly of Rocky Springs, Frederick County, went to be in the arms of our Lord and Savior Aug. 17, 2008 at her home. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was born Aug. 7, 1916, in Frederick County. She was the daughter of the late Charles H. Masser and Ada T. (Kreh) Masser. She lived most of her life in Frederick County, until 1991, when she moved to Hagerstown.

She was the devoted wife of the late Howard T. Dinterman Sr., who preceded her in death in 1992.

She and her husband were fostering parents for 32 years in Frederick County.

Lena dedicated her life to the Lord at the age of 16.

She was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening in her younger years, and worked with children in the Rocky Spring nondenominational Church. She worked at the Truth Christian Academy, formerly Truth for Youth School, in Hagerstown. She was willing to help whenever she saw there was a need.

She is survived by two daughters, Belva "Susie" Leach and husband, Tom, of Gettysburg, Pa., and Cheryl "Lynnie" Pineda and husband, Lou, of Brunswick, and a daughter-in-law, Beverly "Pat" Dinterman, of Marion; along with companions, caregivers and faithful friends of many years, Lucille Marquiss and Mary Martin, along with other caregivers, faithful friends and neighbors of Hagerstown.

She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, five sisters and a son, Howard T. Dinterman Jr., and a granddaughter, Janet "Wee-Pee" Metzer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Susan Marquiss will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven cemetery, Hagerstown.

Friends and family will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Jacob Hubble

Mr. Jacob William Hubble, 17, of Union Bridge, died suddenly Monday, Aug. 25, 2008.

Born April 3, 1991 in Olney, he was the son of Barry L. and Sara J. Beuchert Hubble of Union Bridge. He was a student at Linganore at Oakdale High School where he was just beginning his senior year. Jacob was active in 4-H, a member of the Greener Pastures Chapter as well as the Beef, Sheep and Swine Club. He also was involved with the Frederick County Career Technologies, excelling in welding and winning last year's regional title. Jacob was a member of the Linganore United Methodist Church. He enjoyed raising and showing cattle, pigs and goats; he was also employed by the Bellasera Alpaca Farm.

Surviving in addition to his parents are brother and sisters, Kristine A. Hubble, Zachary G. Hubble and Olivia R. Hubble, all at home; grandparents, William B. "Bill" and Doris Hubble of Union Bridge; Fred Beuchert III and wife, Diana, of Mount Airy; and Lorna Beuchert of Westminster; great-grandmother, Mary J. Gorton of Mount Airy; aunts and uncles, Gary W. Hubble and wife, Sue, of Mount Airy; Dana L. Hubble and wife, Kim, of Gettysburg; and Amy Morrissey of Mount Airy; nine cousins, Heidi Hubble, Becky Getz, Kari Hubble, Gary A. Hubble, Grayson Hubble, Leah Morrissey, Tyler Morrissey, Dusty Morrissey and Dillon Morrissey. Jacob will also be remembered by his best friend, Cody Green, and his employers, Al and Catherine Beatty of Bellasera Alpaca Farm.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, with his pastor Rev. David A. Coakley officiating.

Interment will take place in Linganore UMC cemetery, Unionville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linganore United Methodist Church, 8921 Clemsonville Road, Union Bridge, MD 21791.

Ms. Young Smith

Young "Suki" Smith, 50, of Lincoln, Neb., died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Divine Mercy group at St. Peters, Magnificat at St. Peters.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; son and daughter-in-law, John Paul and Kelly Smith of Hagerstown; sons, Timothy Smith of Lincoln and Patrick Smith of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services were held Thursday, Aug. 14, at St. Peters Catholic Church, 4500 Duxhall Drive. The officiant was Rev. Father Michael Christensen. Rosary prayer was Wednesday, Aug. 13, at St. Peters Catholic Church. Burial was held in Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Father Solanus Guild, 1780 Mt. Elliot Ave., Detroit, MI 48207; Dominican Friars Guild, 141 E. 65th St., New York, NY 10065-6699; Saint Peters Catholic Church, 4500 Duxhall Drive, Lincoln, NE 68516. Mr. Ernest Espinosa

On Aug. 9, 2008, Mr. Ernest Parker Espinosa of Walkersville died at age 72. Mr. Espinosa is survived by his wife, Nancy J. Espinosa, and his youngest son, Jharad L. Espinosa, of Walkersville.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. 15 North, Frederick, MD 21701.

Mr. Mick McKenzie

Mick McKenzie died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.

He was the beloved son of Geneva "Genny" and Tom Meek of Rapidan, Va. and Gibson "Ed" and Donna McKenzie of LaPlata. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving partner, Samantha DeVries of Frederick. He was the father of Halligan T. McKenzie, Katelyn and Randi Hawkins; brother of Malissa "Missy" McKenzie Martin and her husband, Greg, of Rapidan, Va.; half-brother of Amanda "Mandy" McKenzie of LaPlata, Patricia "Tricia" McKenzie Buckler and her husband, Robert, of Mechanicsville and Wyatt McKenzie of LaPlata; uncle of Lucas and Kelsey McCulley and Alyssa and Payton Buckler.

Mick is also survived by all his brother firefighters in Maryland and in New York City.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Avenue (Rte. 28, exit 6-A just off I-270), Rockville. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville.

Interment will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery.

Mr. Ralph Sigler

Mr. Ralph C. Sigler, 88, of Athens, Ala., and formerly of Middletown, died Monday, Aug. 18, at Morningside Assisted Living in Decatur, Ala. He was the husband of Mary Beasley Sigler. He predeceased by his first wife, Ellen Cosgrave Sigler.

Born in Jefferson, Sept. 11, 1919, he was a son of the late Ralph William and Alice Miller Sigler. He was a retired inspector with the Maryland State Highway Administration.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown and attended the Salem United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the North Border Masonic Lodge in Salem.

He is survived by a daughter, Martha Crawford Camp, of Athens; three grandsons, Paul Crawford and wife, Dana, of Florence, Ala.; Eric Crawford and wife, Allison, of Cumming, Ga., Kevin Camp of Niagra Falls, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Beverly Camp of Reno, Nev.; nine great-grandchildren, Emma Crawford, Lakin Crawford, Caitlyn Crawford, Cayla Dee Crawford, Amy Catherine Anderson, Cade Anderson, Daxton Anderson, Ellie Camp, Kelsea Camp; a sister, Miriam Sigler Shafer of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by his son, Ralph C. Sigler Jr., and his brothers, John and Robert Sigler.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in Zion Lutheran cemetery in Middletown.

Arrangements are by Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown.

Mr. Wayne Getzandanner

Mr. Wayne Eugene Getzandanner, 59, of Frederick, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Northampton Manor Nursing Center, Frederick.

Born March 8, 1949 in Libertytown, he was the son of Harry William Getzandanner Sr. of Mount Pleasant and the late Caroline Elizabeth Grove Getzandanner.

Mr. Getzandanner was formerly employed with R.F. Kline and later with Frederick County, water and sewer department. He enjoyed hunting, making knives, and animals, especially his two cats.

Surviving, in addition to his father, are daughter and son-in-law, Kathy L. and Michael Stoops of Littlestown, Pa.; son and daughter-in-law, Scott A. and Sheri Getzandanner of Sparta, N.J.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Stoops, Samantha Getzandanner and Michael Stoops Jr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry William Jr. and Judy Getzandanner of Walkersville, Edward M. and Sharon Getzandanner of Adamstown; nieces and nephews, David Getzandanner, Linda Hylton, Cheryl Shankle, Heather Bartlett; great-nieces and great-nephews, Brittany Ann Shankle, Allison Nicole Shankle, Hannah Jayne Bartlett, Zachary Thomas Shankle, Kevin Barnett, Kayla and Cody Hylton; and former wife, Donna Getzandanner. He was predeceased by his former wife, Karen Getzandanner.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Littlestown.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702, or Frederick County Humane Society, 217 W. Patrick St., Frederick, MD 21701.
