Mr. David Brunner

Mr. David Edward Brunner Sr., 82, of Monrovia, passed on to be with the Lord Sunday morning, Aug. 10, 2008, at his residence due to complications from multiple myeloma. He was the husband of the late Barbara Rebecca Brunner, his wife of 54 years who preceded him in death in September 2003.

Born on Aug. 15, 1925, on Yeagerstown Road, New Market, as the only child of the late David Christian and Susie Mealey Brunner. He was a member of Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, Monrovia.

In younger years, he was a farmhand for Robert Staley, Burkittsville. After leaving the farm in 1957, he worked for Frederick Trading Company, Ridgeville Building Supply Company, E. Earl Ridgley, Milk Hauler Transport, Hyatts Lumber Company, Gaithersburg Lumber Company and Southern States, Mount Airy. Lastly he retired with 21 years of service from the Maryland State Highway Administration, Frederick.

Mr. Brunner is survived by six children, Lorene R. Burke and husband, David, and David E. Brunner and wife, Dixie, all of Walkersville, Charles R. Brunner and wife, Diane, of Ijamsville, Nancy M. Ernest of Thurmont, and Judy I. Regnier and husband, Rick, and Warren A. Brunner and wife, Darlene, all of Frederick; by six grandchildren, G. David Burke and wife, Shannon, Jon Burke and wife, Heather, Aurthur John Burke and wife, Amanda, Kim Colson and husband, Steve, Kevin Brunner and Robbie Brunner and fianc?e Sam; step-granddaughter, Dawn Kitchen; a step-great-granddaughter, Sadie Rebecca Burke; and three step-great-grandchildren, Patrick Colson and Marlayna and Dakota Reaver.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Bill Earnest and grandson-in-law, Mike Fister.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. The funeral service will be held from his church, Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, Monrovia. Pastors Charles G. Beekley assisted by Wilkie Nunn will officiate. Interment will follow in the churchyard, Pleasant Hill cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, in care of the Building Fund, 4821-A, Green Valley Road, Monrovia, MD 21770 or to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.

Mr. Donald Clipp Sr.

Donald Leroy "Hoppy" Clipp Sr., 66, of Hardwood Lane, Keedysville and formerly of Walkersville and Adamstown, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at his home.

Born Jan. 30, 1942 in Keedysville, Donald was a son of the late Richard Edward Clipp and Frances Irene Nally Clipp Jennings, and step-son of Ann Clipp of Frederick and the late O'Byrne Jennings.

He was a 1959 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Donald was formerly employed at J. Edward Magaha in Ranson, W.Va., and retired after 30 years from Eastalco Aluminum Co. in Buckeystown. After retiring, he worked at his son's family business, C&O; Tile in Williamsport.

Donald was a member of Carroll Manor Lions Club and West Virginia Emmaus Community. He was a Civil War living historian and portrayed John Mosby. He enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting and camping at Chincoteague.

Donald was a former member of Buckeystown United Methodist Church where he had been a trustee and member of the prayer group and Apple Dumpling Gang. He currently was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville where he was a trustee.

Donald is survived by his wife, Janice Lorraine Alger Clipp, whom he married Nov. 5, 1960; six children, Kathy C. Osborn and husband, Patrick, and children, James and Megan of Pennsylvania; Karen C. Cowden and children, Crystal and Rebecca, and special friend, Tommy Wilson of Frederick; Donald L. Clipp Jr. and wife, Cindy, and children, Daniel, Katie, Shane and Brandon of Keedysville; Douglas L. Clipp and wife, JeNeen, and children, Justin, Jessica and Joseph; David L. Clipp and wife, Rose, and children, Dillon and Dustin of Monrovia; and Kelly C. Sines and fianc?, Andy Wasko, and children, Bridgette, Derek and Bridget of Brunswick. He is also survived by a brother, James Jennings of Leetown, W.Va.; two sisters, Patty Alger and husband, Clark, of Frederick and Janine Clipp of Hagerstown; mother-in-law, Evelyn Alger of Boonsboro; two great-grandchildren, Sadie and Anabelle; and other family members and close friends, though all very special, too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward L. Clipp Sr. and father-in-law, Sullivan Alger Sr.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Salem United Methodist Church. The Revs. Patricia S. Watson and Linda Healy will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Keedysville.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 25, Keedysville, MD 21756.

Mrs. Marie Auth

Mrs. Marie Emily Baldwin Auth, 94, a resident of Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick, and formerly of Damascus and Arizona, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Henry Joseph Auth Jr., who preceded her in death 26 years ago.

Born May 8, 1914, in Abington, she was the daughter of George E. and Emily French Baldwin. She worked formerly for NIH and upon moving to Arizona, worked for the National Guard.

Mrs. Auth was once a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Damascus, and currently attended St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, Frederick. She enjoyed oil painting, knitting and working crossword puzzles.

Surviving are five children, Henry J. Auth III and wife, Wilda, of Alabama, William N. Auth and wife, Hazel, of Smithsburg, Robert H. Auth and wife, Ann, of North Carolina, James F. Auth and wife, Nancy, of Monrovia, and Elizabeth L. "Betty" Stone and husband, Don, of Colorado; as well as 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Auth was preceded in death by daughter, Patricia M. Gilbert and brother, George Baldwin.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in the chapel at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Willow Road, Frederick. Rev. Keith W. Boisvert of St. Katharine Drexel will offer prayers. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The omission of flowers is requested. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Mr. Clarence Brown

Clarence Franklin Brown, 84, of Monrovia, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008.

Born Jan. 12, 1924, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of the late Oscar Brown and Myrtle (Stine) Brown. He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 64 years, Golden June (Moxley) Brown.

He was employed as a manager at Sealtest Dairy in Baltimore, and developed an inventory system that was highly lauded by the Kraft Corporation when they purchased the company.

Upon retirement Mr. Brown, traveled the United States and he and his wife were able to travel to all of the lower 48 States. During their travels, the Browns managed to visit all of the national parks as well as many, many state parks.

He and his wife were passionate about gardening, enjoying freezing and canning the fruits and vegetables they grew together.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown selflessly served the Montgomery County Government by fostering 28 children in more than 20 years. Mr. Brown was supportive of the Red Cross and gave blood on a routine basis. In addition, he volunteered his time in order to help construct two local churches, The Frederick First Church of the Nazarene and The Valley Fellowship Church of the Nazarene.

In more than 64 years of marriage, the Browns were inseparable, dedicating their lives to each other. They truly adored each other and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Brown is survived by three sons, C. Robert Brown (Deanna), Clarence R. Brown (Frances) and Paul M. Brown; he was a loving grandfather of five, Robyn Noon (Richard), Charles Brown Jr. (Jennifer), Julie Brown, Dawn Lester (Terry) and David Brown (Heidi). Mr. Brown also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; he is also survived by two aunts, currently residing at Vindobona Nursing Home, both of whom are older than 100 years of age. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Brown, Roy Brown and Albert Brown as well as a great-granddaughter.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, the funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Providence United Methodist Church, 3735 Kemptown Church Road, Monrovia, with the Rev. Donna L. Herritt officiating. Interment will be in the Church cemetery.

Mr. Harlen Wampole

Harlen Claire Wampole, 83, of Frederick, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at Vindobona Nursing Home. He was the husband of Mary C. (Lee) Wampole. Born Oct. 10, 1924 in Eleva, Wis., he was the son of John J. and Claudia M. (Hays) Wampole.

Mr. Wampole was an active member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he served as a senior altar server for many funerals. He enjoyed many activities with his wife and family. He especially enjoyed camping in his RV. He was a regular bowler at Terrace Lanes, bowling in various leagues during his life. Additionally, he was a member of the National Associations of Retired Federal Employees.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wampole is survived by his four children, John L. Wampole, of Hagerstown, Harlen J. Wampole and wife, Annamarie, of Middletown, Mary L. Leslie and husband, Greg, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Claudia A. Moxley and husband, Bryan, of Newville, Pa. He was the grandfather of six, Johnna, Adam, Alexis, Elizabeth, Catie, and Emily and the great-grandfather of two, Dashiel and Eva. Additionally, he is also survived by his sister, Violet Kastel of Eau Claire, Wis. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Mr. Wampole is preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Keeney & Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. Second St., Frederick.

Interment will be at Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick. Contributions may be made in Mr. Wampole's name to Saint John's Church, at the above address.

Mr. Maurice Felix

Maurice J. Felix Jr., 87, of Gettysburg, passed peacefully Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Gettysburg.

Born Feb. 3, 1921 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Maurice J. and Virginia Lucy (Riley) Felix Sr. McKinney.

Mr. Felix was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force Veteran having served in the Pacific Theater of operations. He was employed as an equipment operator for the U.S. Government. Maurice was a life member of Post 121 Francis X. Elder American Legion.

Surviving are three daughters, Marcia A. Hawk, Gettysburg; Cindy Droze, Summerville, S.C.; Dorothy C. "Dori" John, New Oxford; His companion Mary V. Lantz.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, John Charles Felix, Mary C. Felix, Ida Mae Kane and Joseph Felix.

A celebration of the life of Maurice will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Rev. Richard C. Broome Jr. officiating.

An opportunity to share memories of Maurice and view will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Maurice to the Land Conservancy of Adams Co., Inc., 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.

Mrs. Loraine Blickenstaff

Loraine A. Blickenstaff, 90, of Halfway, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at her home.

Born Oct. 22, 1917 in Halfway, she was the daughter of the late Rollie A. and Sarah L. Eccard Arnsparger.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Nathan B. Blickenstaff in 1969.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1935.

She was a member and served as president of the Halfway Senior Citizen Chapter.

Loraine's hobbies included cooking and collecting antiques.

She is survived by one grandson, Richard L. Baker II of Ellicott City; great-grandson, Matthew R. Baker; great-granddaughter, Hayley E. Baker.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean L. Baker; son-in-law, Richard Baker; two sisters, Lillian L. Kauffman and Effie J. Harsh; four brothers, Richard Arnsparger, Leo Arnsparger, Harold Arnsparger and Oscar Arnsparger.

Graveside Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, at Rest Haven cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 712 Church St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Mr. Frank Lipieko Sr.

Frank Stephen Lipieko Sr., 86, of Frederick, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Country Meadows Assisted Living, Frederick, after an extended illness.

Born April 2, 1922 in Carbondale, Pa., he was the son of the late Michael and Veronica Gutowski Lipieko. He was the husband of Anne Doris Keiper Lipieko, who predeceased him in 1991.

Mr. Lipieko served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, seeing action in the Pacific Theater. He was formerly employed as a crane operator for Armco Steel Company, Baltimore.

In 1965, he moved from Baltimore to Pasadena, and in 2004 he moved to Frederick. Mr. Lipieko always enjoyed athletics and later bowling, playing pool, playing cards and yard sales.

Surviving are daughter, Suzanne Foster and husband, Elmer, of Baltimore; son, Frank S. Lipieko Jr. and wife, Roberta, of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother.

A military interment service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Cedar Hill cemetery, 5829 Governor Ritchie Highway, Baltimore, with Rev. Paul Buchanan, pastor of New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene, Mount Airy, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite B, Timonium, MD 21093-3142.

Mrs. Constance Massarella

Mrs. Constance "Connie" Massarella, of Woodsboro, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at her residence. She was the wife of Ronald Massarella Jr., for 18 years.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Constance Lapere Giambro.

She and her husband owned a local family-owned company. She was an avid gardener and was very devoted to all of her pets. She was loved by, and will be missed by, all of her many friends.

Surviving are her husband Ron, two children, Larry Acchione of Pennsylvania and Lisa Acchione of Arizona; a sister, Roseann Giambro of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a brother, Thomas Giambro of Williamstown, N.J.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 East Main Street, Thurmont, with Rev. Carroll A. Doggett Jr., officiating.

Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Connie's name to the American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Drive, P.O. Box 43025, Baltimore, MD 21236-0025 or to the Humane Society, 5712-B Industry Lane, Frederick, MD 21704.
