Mr. Michael Ealey

Michael Ealey, 40, of Germantown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.

Born Aug. 9, 1968, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Alice Ealey of Germantown and the late Ernest Ealey.

Survived by five siblings, Ernest J. Ealey of Richmond, Va., Vickie Ann Hayes of Brooklyn, N.Y., Wanda Hicks of Richmond, Va., Sherman Ealey of Montgomery Village, and Sandra Clarke of Frederick.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services and interment will be private.

Mrs. Mary A. Kuykendall

Mary A. Kuykendall, 73, of Fairfield, Pa., died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at the Gettysburg Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Iron Springs Brethren in Christ Church, 855 Iron Springs Road, Fairfield, Pa., with the Rev. Terry Hoak officiating. Burial will be in the Fountaindale Union cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 E. Main St., Fairfield, Pa.

Mrs. Harriet W. Lifka

Harriet W. Lifka, 96, of Ocala, Fla., passed away Sept. 22, 2008.

Born in Boyds, she moved to Florida with her husband 36 years ago from Damascus.

She was a retired lab technician for the National Institute of Health and a Catholic by faith.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen Offutt of Frederick, Lorraine Sadtler of Damascus, Dorothy Thompson of Adamstown, and Jeannette Watkins of Clarksburg; several nieces, nephews and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Lifka; brothers, Norman, George and Franklin Walter; and her sisters, Charlotte Childs, Ethelene Ayton, Catherine Dorsey; and two infant sisters.

Arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Homes, Ocala, Fla.

Mr. Timothy Keith Harris

Timothy Keith Harris, of Kent Island and formerly of Mount Airy, died Sept. 23, 2008.

Mr. Harris was born May 6, 1978, and he worked as a site manager with Timberlake Homes.

He is survived by wife, Kimberly Barber Harris and two young children, Timothy James and Taylor Morgan; mother and father, Joann and Thomas Harris; brother, sister-in-law, and nephew, Scott, Michelle, and Carmeron Harris; grandmother, Louise Wockenfuss; co-workers, friends and extended family.

The memorial service will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church, 931 Love Point Road, Stevensville, MD 21666, 410-604-1700.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to benefit the children. A memorial account has been set up at M&T;, Timothy, Taylor Harris Memorial Account, 60 Kent Towne Market, Chester, MD 21619, 410-643-7917.

Mr. Raymond Sirk

Raymond Warren Sirk, 84, of Woodbine, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at his home in Woodbine.

He was the spouse of Jean D. (Satterwhite) Sirk of Woodbine.

Mr. Sirk was born June 23, 1924, in Criders, Va., as the son of the late Willis Sirk and the late Sarah (Delaughter) Sirk.

He was employed for more than 40 years as a farmer with A.E. Mullinix and Son.

He served during World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of Four Counties VFW Post 10076 Mount Airy and also American Legion Gold Star Post 191 Mount Airy.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, Warren R. and Peggy Sirk of Walkersville, Brenda M and Robert Hedlund of Mount Airy, Michael W. and Mary Anne Sirk of Mount Airy, and Linda M. Main of Mount Airy; brother, Herman Sirk of Woodbine; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.

Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at True Gospel cemetery, North Ave., Lisbon, with the Rev. Irvin Martin of Mount Airy Mennonite Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilchrist Hospice, 555 W. Towsontown Blvd., Towson, MD 21204. Arrangements are by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A.

Mrs. Ruth Proctor

Ruth Rebecca Proctor, 76, of Frederick, departed this life Sept. 21, 2008, at home. She was the wife of the late William Randolph Proctor Sr. for 44 years.

Ruth was born in Frederick County, to the late James Henry Edwards Sr. and the late Ruth Diggs Edwards. She was a long-time employee of Frederick Memorial Hospital, Homewood Retirement Home and North Hampton Nursing Facility, from which she retired in 2004.

She was a former member of Jackson Chapel U.M. Church and a member of New Dimensions Church. She also visited and left loving memories with several other churches in the Frederick area. During her Christian journey she served as an usher, sang in the choir, and helped with the hospitality ministries. She was a woman after God's own heart.

She is survived by six children, Joan Williams of Boardman, Ohio, Janice Simms and husband, Charles, Sharon Naylor and fianc?, Alphonso Lee, Julie Ridgely and husband, William, all of Frederick, James Proctor and wife, Taconya, of Laurel, William Proctor Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four sisters, Charlotte Edwards, Martha Davis, Lena Jackson and Arianne Edwards and one brother, James H. Edwards Jr., all of Frederick. She was preceded in death by her first son, Larry L. Proctor; two brothers, Ralph L. Edwards and Richard E. Edwards; and two grandchildren. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. She will be remembered by three devoted and special friends, Martha Todd, Yvette Jackson and Alphonso Lee and a devoted granddaughter, Erica Naylor and family.

She was an amazing woman who lived an amazing life; she taught us to live everyday of our lives on purpose.

A public viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, 110 W. South St. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 27, at New Dimensions Worship Center, 919 E. St., Frederick, with funeral services immediately following. Pastor Alexander Hardy, eulogist, and co-pastor Barbara Hardy will officiate.

Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harry Bussard

Harry Elwood "Buss" Bussard, 84, of 347 Key Ave., Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at the Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.

Born Tuesday, Dec. 4, 1923, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Harry Leroy Bussard and the late Mildred Cynthia Shepley Bussard. He was also preceded in death by a loving stepmother Anna Louise Bussard.

He was employed with Massey Ford as service manager for 35 years, and was later employed with Mack Truck Inc. in the Engineering and Research Department, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, B.P.O. Elks 378 and the Alsatia Club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Doris Jean Bussard; one daughter, Cindy Tedrick and husband, Brian, of Hagerstown; four sisters, Marianna Keeney of Camden, Del., Jane Rith and husband, Carl, of Hagerstown, Harriett Hahn and husband, Don, of Mercersburg, Pa., and Joy Leatherman and husband, Harold, of Myersville; one brother, Sam Bussard of Middletown; grandson, Matthew Tedrick and wife, Lorie, of Hagerstown; and granddaughter, Jennifer Tedrick of Hagerstown; and one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Weaver of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Zier, brother, Peck Bussard, and brother-in-law, Jim Keeney.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, from the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark Carr officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

Mr. George Fisher

George W. Fisher, 74, of Frederick, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, at his home.

Born June 10, 1934, he was the son of the late George W.R. and Anna E. Releford Fisher. The husband of Allie Marie Fisher, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Goetz, and a son, Michael Fisher.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, before working as a carpenter until his retirement. He enjoyed watching TV and sleeping. He especially liked to say, "I'll see you one day next Tuesday."

George was a loving father to his other five children, Deborah Blank of Frederick, Mari Jill Workman of West Virginia, George W. Fisher of West Virginia, Mary Fisher of Frederick, and Timmy Fisher of Hagerstown. He was a devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren, taking care of his granddaughter Sheri McKinnon as his own, as well as eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Eileen Gregg of Brunswick, Mary LePold of Frederick, and Thelma Fisher of Virginia. He will also be remembered by family friend Barbara Streams of Hedgesville, W.Va.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral Services will be held at 1p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mari Jill Workman, Dock Workman, George Fisher Jr., Timmy Fisher, Danny McKinnon and John Blank with Kevin Blank and Chad Brunner serving as standby pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Allie M. Fisher, 800 Motter Ave., Apt. 314, Frederick, MD 21701.

Mrs. Mildred Wenzel

Mrs. Mildred G. Wenzel, 81, of Ijamsville, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Glade Valley Nursing Home, Walkersville. She was the wife of Charles A. Wenzel.

Born Jan. 10, 1927, in Cannelton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Christine Steinbinder. Mrs. Wenzel moved to Washington, D.C., and on Aug. 8, 1959, she married her husband, Charles. She was a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, John S. Wenzel and wife, Louisa, and Thomas E. Wenzel and wife, Helen, all of Gaithersburg; one daughter, Ann M. Wenzel and her fianc?, Brian Hull, of Ijamsville; seven grandchildren, Stephen, David, Joseph and Laura Wenzel and Cristen, Kevin and Brendan Waters, sisters, Anne Haas of Pennsylvania and Rose Baer of Ohio; brothers, John and Frank Steinbinder both of Pennsylvania.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. Mount Airy. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at the St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Silver Spring.

Mrs. Doris Hoffman

Doris Ruth Hoffman, 69, of Frederick, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at Somerford Place. She was the wife of Mr. H. William Hoffman of 46 years of marriage.

Born April 16, 1939, in Gettysburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Carrie V. Dutterer Reaver.

Mrs. Hoffman was a graduate of Taneytown High School class of 1957, a long time resident of Frederick, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick and a member of, along with her husband, the American Legion Francis Scott Key Post 11. Mrs. Hoffman also worked in Frederick for over 40 years in the medical field as a medical secretary until her retirement in 2003.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her sisters, Helen McAvoy of Riverside, Ca.; Mabel Johnson of Clarksville, Ca.; June Ripley of Taneytown and Marian Ricker of Richmond, Va.; her brothers, Francis Reaver of Taneytown, Franklin Reaver of Ellicott City, and George Reaver of Taneytown. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Kenneth and Ralph Reaver, and her sister, Alice Copenhaver.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick. The Rev. Dr. David G. Oravec will officiate. Interment will follow at the cemetery. Those wishing to attend services are asked to meet at the cemetery entrance by 1:45 p.m.

Arrangement and services are being handled by the Keeney and Basford P.A. Funeral Home, Frederick.

Mr. John Dickson

John Dickson, 93, of Frederick, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2008, at Citizen's Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick.

Born Aug. 24, 1915, in Galashiels, Scotland, he was the son of the late Arthur Dickson and Margaret (Scott) Dickson.

He and his wife, Jean (Williams) Dickson, were married April 3, 1948. They lived and raised their family in Summit, N.J., until 1988, when they moved to Frederick. Mrs. Dickson passed away Dec. 2, 2001. Mr. Dickson was a Presbyterian and a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, N.J., and a member of the Frederick Presbyterian Church in Frederick. He was a talented soccer, cricket, rugby and tennis player. Mr. Dickson graduated from St. Mary's School in Melrose, Scotland, and George Watson College in Edinburgh, Scotland, and went to work in the family- owned woolen mill in Galashiels. During World War II, he was a British transportation officer in the Second Battalion of the King's Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB) and stationed in India. He arrived in the United States July 4, 1946, and began working as a textile importer for Folkard and Lawrence Importers in New York City. That employment was followed by 25 years as a textile designer with JP Stevens & Co., in New York City. During his retirement he worked as a consultant for Adams Clothing in New Providence, N.J.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Dickson Grant of Galashiels, Scotland. In addition to his sister he is survived by six children, Margery D. Smith of Langhorne, Pa., Pamela D. Siedor of Waynesboro, Pa., Wendy D. Cosolito of Allentown, Pa., John A. W. Dickson of Rockaway, N.J., Peter W. Dickson of Brick, N.J., and Judy D. Croneberger of Berkley Heights, N.J.; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Arthur and Kenneth Dickson and one sister, Ada Lindsay.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Frederick Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Eric Meyers officiating. Internment will be at Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick, following the funeral services. Arrangements conducted by the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frederick Presbyterian Church, 115 W. Second St., Frederick, MD 21701.

Mr. James Elliott

James "Buck" T. Elliott, 71, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at his home. He was the husband of the late Janice M. Elliott.

Born Oct. 12, 1936, in Independence, Va., he was the son of the late Archie and Nona Elliott.

He was a carpenter his whole life.

He is survived by a daughter, Misty Myers and husband, Donald, of Knoxville; a son, Mark Elliott and wife, Mona, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Jason Elliott, Josh Myers, Brittany Myers, Terri Myers, Cody Myers, Alexis Myers and Ethan Myers; a sister, Ruth Nichols; a brother, Joe Elliott and wife, Margaret. He will also be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Rose Owens and Barbara Rouppet and his three brothers, Charles Hodges, Palmer Hodges and Archie Leroy Elliott.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home with the Rev. Alan Smith officiating.

Interment will be in Brownsville Church of the Brethren cemetery, Brownsville.
