Mr. Albert Wilson

Albert Richard Wilson, 61, died Nov. 28, 2008, at the Martinsburg City Hospital.

In 1996, Al transferred from Altamont, N.Y. to the Harlan Spraug Dawley in Frederick, where he was currently working as an equipment service processer.

Al was a devoted demolition derby participant, winning many awards over the years. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a big Rusty Wallace fan, he liked playing darts and his beloved dogs, KC and Daisy.

He is survived by his best friend and companion, Irma Bates of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; --three brothers; --one sister; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to the service at noon Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Gloria Wickers

Mrs. Gloria G. Wickers, of Waynesboro, Pa. and formerly of Frederick County, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy, Pa. She was the beloved wife of Claude H. Wickers.

She was born April 17, 1923, to the late John Wilbur Warner and Vinda I. (Shaver) Warner.

Gloria was a graduate of Frederick High School and she was a retired secretary from Frederick Community College. She enjoyed painting as a hobby and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Wickers was the dearly loved mother of three daughters, Lynn Harris and husband Ken of Raleigh, N.C., Deborah Baumgardner of Frederick, and Gina Leiby and husband Larry of Frederick; and two stepsons, Dale and Brant Wickers of Waynesboro, Pa.; three grandchildren, Lindsey Leiby, Kyle Harris and Travis Leiby. Her brother, Wilber D. Warner preceded her in death.

Arrangements and a private viewing were made by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Heart Assoc., 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060 or by calling 1-800-242-8721.

Mr. James Rollins

Mr. James "Que" Howard Rollins, 68, of Frederick, departed from this life after a lengthy illness, Saturday, Nov. 27, 2008. He was the son of the late Austin and Estelle Rollins.

James graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1959. He worked for 31 years at Frederick Iron Steel as a crane operator/foreman. He also worked for 13 years at Reliable Recycle Center as a warehouse manager. And he worked as the head chef at Red Horse Restaurant, as well as a private driver for Dave Weinberg.

James known as "Daddy," "Que" and "Ranger," showed his love through strength and firmness. He loved horse racing and Redskins football.

He is survived by a companion, Nancy Witmer; two sons, James Rollins Sr. (Odessa) and Adrian Rollins (Tracey), all of Frederick; five daughters, Sonia Hoy, Gwen Smothers (Jasper), Jill Bowens, Dawn Collins (Rodney) of Las Vegas, Nev. and Althea Smith (Charles) of Shalimar, Fla.; four sisters, Clara Mitchell, Maryanna Biggus, Delores Hall, and Joann Rollins; four brothers, Joe Rollins, Robert Rollins, Steve Harper and Charles Harper, all of Frederick; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; and a friend that was appreciated for her endurance of care, Ann Rollins, also of Frederick.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Dorsey; three sisters, Consuwilla Rollins-Gilmore, Bessie Ingram and Catherine Worthington; three brothers, Austin Rollins Jr., Bernard Rollins and Richard Rollins. James will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, 110 W. South St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at New Dimensions Worship Center, 919 B. East St. Bishop Roger Rollins will officiate.

Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.

Food donations for the repast can be dropped off at the Mount City Lodge Elks, 173 W. All Saint St.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to FMH Cancer Patient Assistance Fund Office of Development, Attn.: Ken Coffey, 400 W. Seventh St., Frederick or Hospice of Frederick County, 518 Trail Ave., P.O. Box 1799, Frederick.

Mrs. Wanda Goff

Wanda G. Goff, 77, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Milton H. Goff. They were married for 62 years.

Born March 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Faye Sigley.

In addition to her loving husband, Milton she is survived by a son, Stephen A. Goff of Arnoldstown, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Robert, Milton, Tina, Ivory and Alexander; a sister, Rose Wilson; and a daughter-in-law, Edith Goff.

She was preceded in death by a son, Albert Goff and two brothers, June Sigley and Paul Sigley.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave., Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home. Rev. Victoria Starnes will officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Allen White

Allen Jay White, 67, of Sykesville, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at his home.

He was born June 16, 1941 in Murray, Utah, as the son of the late Allen Joseph White and the late Geneva Lucille White (nee Enquist).

He was the husband of Janice Lee Widdison White.

He was a professional consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton from 2004 to present, before from 1971-2004 he worked fro National Security Agency. He was a member of the Peace Corps-Ghana Africa.

Mr. White moved frequently as child since his father was in the military. His family moved to Long Beach, Calif., New York, N.Y. and Monterey, Calif. His family settled permanently in Monterey, Calif., where he attended high school. He then attended several universities; bachelor's from Brigham Young Univ., master of science from BYU and further education at Montana State Univ., master of arts from Brigham Young University and further graduate work at Montana State University.

He was the father of David White of Las Vegas, Timothy White of Tucson, Ariz., Christopher White of Provo, Utah, Erin Hansen of Idaho, Lauren Markham of Frederick and Matthew White of Provo, Utah; he was the dear brother of Christine Ventura of Vacaville, Calif.; he is also survived by 16 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints- Mount Airy Ward, Rt. 27 and Center Street. Bishop Charles F. Schuman will officiate.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School).

Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Woodbine.

Arrangements are by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A.

Mrs. Virginia McMath

Virginia A. McMath, 84, of Frederick, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at her home. She was the wife of Lt. Col. Robert P. McMath (U.S.A. ret.), who died November 1989.

Born in Middletown, Oct. 2, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Charles Emmert and Alice Brandenburg Adkins. In her early years, she was employed with the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. and has also been a volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years. She was an avid and excellent golfer and had scored a hole-in-one at the Ft. Belvoir Golf Course. She was also the 1981 champion with the Ft. Belvoir Ladies Golf Association.

She is survived by two sons, Robert P. McMath Jr. of Woodruff, S.C. and Charles F. McMath of Hillsboro, Va.; three grandchildren, Palmer L. McMath, Sydney McMath, Jennifer McMath Adkins; one great-granddaughter, Madison Adkins; and five sisters, Hilda Wiles of Frederick, Mildred Shafer of Alexandria, Va., Barbara Jane Kolb of Thurmont, Phyllis Kolb of Frederick, Shirley Smith of Jefferson.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Freda Eigenbrode and Frances Grimm.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.

Rev. Katie Bishop, pastor of Garfield United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be made at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, in Arlington National cemetery.

Mr. Edgar Cook

Mr. Edgar Grant Cook, 85, of Frederick, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Miriam S. Cook, his wife of 62 years.

Born June 15, 1923 in Circleville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Frank M. and Olivia B. Cook. Mr. Cook served in the South Pacific during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard, aboard LST 765. Ed worked as a mechanic for Chevy Chase Chevrolet for 45 years, until his retirement. He loved NASCAR, country music, and the Washington Redskins, and he was an avid Chesapeake Bay fisherman.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cook is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Pearce and husband Bill of Richmond, Va. and Cindi Wirick and husband George of Walkersville; two sisters, Ruby Phares and husband Robert and Jane Cook; four brothers, Raymond Cook, Morris Cook and wife Jean, Richard Cook and wife Mary, and Charles Cook; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Cook and Charles McDonald.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Walkersville United Methodist Church, 22 Main St., Walkersville. Committal services will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Cook's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

Mrs. Mary Bergeron

Mary H. Bergeron, of Thurmont, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Brattleboro, Vt., June 19, 1929, as the daughter of the late Leon E. Howard and the late Pauline (Smith) (Howard) Alexander.

She graduated from Greenfield High School, Class of 1947. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Richard of Thurmont; a daughter, Jeanne Clark and husband Mike of Thurmont; granddaughters, Brittany of Thurmont and Jessica and husband Elwyne, who are stationed at at Fort Lee, Va.; two great-grandsons, Jaylen and Elwyne and a great-granddaughter, Janelle, all of Fort Lee, Va. She also has relatives in and around Greenfield, Mass. Among them, sister-in-law, Rita Belanger and husband, Arthur of Turners Falls; brother-in-law, Bernard Bergeron and wife Viola of Colrain; and sister-in-law, Anita Bergeron. She will also be remembered by many special friends she made during her life.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Howard Jr.; brother-in-law, Robert Bergeron; and her son, Joseph, who passed away in April 2006.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, AMVETS, Post No. 7, Thurmont. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Thurmont.

Her wishes were to be cremated. There will be a memorial mass at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Thurmont. A reception will follow in the parish hall, adjacent to the church.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her honor to our Lady of Mount Carmel, 16150 St. Anthony Road, Emmitsburg, MD 21727.

Mr. Michael Cunio

Mr. Michael Angelo Cunio, 58, of Mount Airy, died in his home Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Dec. 7, 1949 in Oakland, Calif., he was the son of Lynelle Bigalow Ganje of Turlock, Calif. and the late John E. "Jack" Cunio.

After moving to Maryland, in the early '70s, he owned and operated a small flooring business for many years. Michael then was an insurance agent with the Hamilton Insurance Associates with offices in Mount Airy, Frederick and Rockville. He was an accomplished video photographer and enjoyed taking pictures and video of family.

In his spare time, he loved working and rebuilding computers. Known as "Mickey" to his 11 grandchildren, he had a witty sense of humor, was a good storyteller, and enjoyed being the family chauffeur -- making most of the airport runs. Mr. Cunio was a member the Monday and Thursday night support groups in Mount Airy and attended St. Michael's Catholic Church at Poplar Springs.

Michael is survived by his partner of more than 33 years, Martha Hamilton of Mount Airy and her family; sons, Duane Randolph and wife Susan, Darren Randolph and Damon Quigley; daughter, Diane Christ; grandchildren, Ashton Christ, Richard Rice, Samantha Eisenhauer, Leah Randolph, Jessica Quigley, Alison Randolph, Stephanie Randolph, Dana Randolph, Leslie Randolph, Liam Quigley and Shayne Quigley; and a great-grandchild, Alexis Christ; as well as his sister, Vickie Mellon; step-mother, Nina Cunio Rolan; step-sisters, Norma Douglas, Ginny Dale Phillips and Anne Strope; niece and nephew, Sherri and Steven DePollar and their children of Maryland and Tony Mellon of California; cousin, Romona Green and other relatives in California.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy. Rev. Michael J. Ruane will officiate.

Inurnment will take place in California.

Condolences may be expressed to the family at P.O. Box 42, Mount Airy, MD 21771.

Mrs. Helen Lowe

Helen "Ermie" Lowe, 82, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Buckingham's Choice retirement home. Ermie and her late husband, "Bill" Lowe, to whom she was married for 42 years, resided in Laytonsville for most of those years. Born in Suiter, Va. on Dec. 18, 1926, she was the youngest of 12 children of the late William and Susie Webb of Urbana.

Ermie had many, many friend in Laytonsville, as well as, Edenton and Buckingham's Choice, where she resided after her health failed. She was a member of Mount Tabor Methodist Church in Etchison. She was a very loving, caring soul, who never knew a stranger.

Ermie is survived by one dauther-in-law, Kaaren Kerrigan of Gaithersburg; one stepson, Thomas Lowe of Hawaii; one sister, Louise "Dobbie" Zarnstorff of Mississippi; one brother, Hyter Webb of Laytonsville; five grandchildren, Keith Lowe of Hawaii, Jeremy B. Lowe of California, Jeremy G. Lowe of California, Barbara Lowe of N.C. and Tony Lowe of S.C.; an abundance of nieces and nephews, to whom she was a always a very special aunt.

She is preceded in death by one stepson, Billy Lowe; two sisters, Edna Hubble and Vivian "T" Gregg; and seven brothers, Herman, Ernest, Earl, Willis "Bill," Arthur "Riggs," Steward "Pete," and Frazier "Fay" Webb.

The viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home.

Those desiring, may send memorial donations to the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, 24115 Laytonsville Road, Etchison.

Mr. Jerry Shank

Jerry Lee Shank, 59, of Middletown, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at his home.

Jerry was born in Frederick County, and was the son of the late Melvin P. and Nellie V. Haupt Shank.

For 30 years he had his own small engine repair business. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going to old tractor shows and carnivals.

Jerry is survived by two daughters, Becky Shank and Carey Shank, both of Middletown; one granddaughter, Desiree Rose also of Middletown; two brothers, Kenneth Shank and Melvin Shank, both of Middletown; two sisters, Marylou Hoffmaster of Sharpsburg and Annie Simpson of Middetown; one niece, Sharon Bieluch of Sharpsburg; two nephews, Wayne Martin of Hagerstown and Skip Simpson of Inwood, W.Va.; a great-niece, Jennifer Martin; a great-nephew, Brady Wiles; eight step-nieces; and nephews.

He will be sadly missed by his former wife and friend, Brenda Fox and good friend, Tina Coleman.

Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Junior Shank, Jan. 25, 2008.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville. A celebration of Jerry's life will begin at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Donna Ritchey-Martin following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to help defray the funeral expenses be made c/o Annie Simpson, P.O. Box 645, Middletown, MD 21769.
