Ms. Charlotte Boone

Charlotte Louise Boone, 87, of Frederick, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Boone Sr., who passed away in March 1991.

Born Feb. 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Lydia Altvater.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie D. Clabaugh and husband, Robert, of Thurmont; two stepsons, Robert M. Boone Jr. and wife, Bonnie, of Smithsburg, and Randall W. Boone and wife, Virginia, of Frederick; four grandchildren, Alicia Miller of Waynesboro, Randall Boone Jr. of Buckeystown, Robert L. Boone of Waynesboro and Dawn M. Escalante of Boonsboro; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lydia Geisbert of Walkersville; one brother, Jacob Altvater and wife, Shirley, of New Windsor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara L. Shankle; a grandson, James E. Boone; a great-granddaughter, Savina Escalante; a sister, Catherine Black; and one brother, Richard Altvater.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home. The Rev. Jennifer Smith will officiate.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Mr. Roger Webb

Mr. Roger Alan Webb, 62, of Adamstown, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at home while surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Patsy Ann Webb, his wife of 35 years.

Born Feb. 21, 1946, in Laytonsville, he was the son of the late Stewart E. Sr. and Mary M. Webb. Mr. Webb loved to rebuild and paint cars, and was an avid Redskins fan. He worked for Melco Paints and Drywall for many years. He also loved to barbecue, being around his family and doting on his grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two children, Sandy Jenkins and husband, Randy, of Adamstown, and Steven Webb and wife, Farzana, of Monrovia; two stepchildren, Donna Thatcher and husband, Tracey, of Adamstown, and Lisa Kidd and husband, Billy, of Gaithersburg; three brothers, John Webb and wife, Ruth, of Brunswick, Stewart Webb Jr. and wife, Margaret, of Urbana, and David Webb of Wheaton; three sisters, Mary Smith and husband, Charles, of Adamstown, Patsy Eloss of New York, and Vivian Painter and husband, Robert, of Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Kelly Webb of Frederick; four granddaughters; two grandsons; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Webb, and by a bother-in-law, Wayne Eloss.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at the Lynfield Event Complex, 10142 Hansonville Road, Frederick. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the complex.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Floral tributes are welcome.

Mr. Robert Kenawell

Mr. Robert P. "Bob" Kenawell, 65, of Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, in Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore.

Born July 10, 1943, in Hollidaysburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Ernest and Catherine (Zeek) Kenawell.

He served for more than 20 years in the United States Army as a member of the Signal Corps during the Vietnam War, for nine years in Thailand and also several years in Germany before retiring from Fort Ritchie in 1982.

Following his retirement from the service, Mr. Kenawell was employed for RCA in Germantown for more than 10 years.

He was a member of Sherman Lowery VFW Post 10421, Brunswick, and American Legion Post 191, Mount Airy.

He was Catholic by faith and supported St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Judith A. "Judy" (Wells) Kenawell; his four children, Robert E. "Bobby" Kenawell of Spotsylvania, Va., Katherine I. "Kathy" Ebersole of Fredericksburg, Va., Christopher E. "Chris" Kenawell of Hagerstown, and Charly Walker of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Patricia Myer of Baltimore; one brother, Ernest "Ernie" Kenawell of Newport News, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Kenawell; and three brothers, Thomas Kenawell, George Kenawell and Peter C. Kenawell.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Arlington National cemetery.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Louis L. Samoisette

Louis L. Samoisette, 95, of Frederick and formerly of Plantation, Fla., and Haverhill, Mass., passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 1, 2009. His beloved wife, Irene Brindle Samoisette, was beside him. They had been married 75 years.

He was born March 23, 1913, in Haverhill, Mass., the son of Clara (Patnaude) and Dolphus Samoisette.

He served in the U.S. Army as a front-line soldier during World War II, and was one of the few surviving members of his outfit, the famous "Lost Battalion" which was cut off behind enemy lines in the Vosges mountains in October 1944.

A dedicated and hard worker all of his life, he worked as a candy maker, a top-lift cutter in the shoe industry, cut trees and ran a Christmas tree lot, a postal worker,; a pharmacy worker, owned his own sandwich and pizza shop, worked for Airpax Electronics and finally retired after many years as a golf-cart mechanic on some of South Florida's nicest golf courses.

In his younger years, he was an active athlete playing ice hockey, football and baseball and had been scouted by the Red Sox. In later years, he enjoyed watching all of those same sports and especially rooting for the Red Sox. His hobbies included gardening, photography, fishing, cards, horse racing and jewelry making. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Gaithersburg, and enjoyed volunteering at their annual Christmas tree and shop sale.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Pearson of Mobile, Ala.; his daughter, Lorene Pregenzer and her husband, Ron, of Frederick; grandchildren, Liz Flynn of Coral Springs, Fla., Kathryn Schwarz and her husband, Chris, of Orlando, Fla., Mary Beth and Peggy Pregenzer of Frederick; "adopted grandchildren," Colin McGuigan and his wife, Amber, of Blackwood, N.J., Matt McGuigan and his wife, Joy, of Knoxville, Ryan McGuigan and his wife, Andi, of Frederick; great-grandchildren, Evan McGuigan, Maura Louise McGuigan and two more to be born yet this year. He also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces; nephews; grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many friends in the Frederick area, especially at Creekside and Spring Ridge Senior apartments.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lois Flynn of Coral Springs, Fla.; his son-in-law, Frank Flynn; all of his siblings; and most of his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. 15N., Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 11701 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg. Following the funeral Mass there will be a mercy meal served at the church.

Interment will be in the Chapel Mausoleum at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.

Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody, P.A., Frederick.

Mrs. Gloria Eileen Merriman

Gloria Eileen Merriman, 87, of Brunswick, passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Brunswick and was the daughter of the late Lewis H. Cornelius and Daisy Russell Cornelius.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Brunswick.

She is survived by one son, George M. Merriman Jr. and wife, Katie, of Breckenridge, Colo.; one brother, L.H. Cornelius Jr. and wife, Veta, of Glen Burnie; one granddaughter, Kelli Lombard and husband, Aaron, of Durango, Colo.; one grandson, George M. Merriman and wife, Jennifer, of Boulder, Colo.; great-granddaughter, Remley Elizabeth Merriman; devoted daughter-in-law, Diane Merriman of Brunswick; best friend, Betty Reynolds of Brunswick; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Merriman Sr., in 1961, and seven brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 7, at Grace Episcopal Church, 114 E. "A" St., Brunswick. Fr. Frank Fortkamp will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 114 E. "A" St., Brunswick, MD 21716 or Brunswick Jr. Baseball, c/o Mike Tome, 206 Fourth Ave., Brunswick, MD 21716.

Arrangements are by John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick.

Mr. Robert P. Kenawell

Mrs. Lynne Hale

Mrs. Lynne Marie Hale, 41, of Annapolis, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009. Born Aug. 5, 1967, in Hawaii, she was a resident of Annapolis for 23 years.

Mrs. Hale was employed as a real estate agent with Long and Foster Real Estate in Annapolis.

She is survived by former husband, James Hale; son, Justin Hale; and daughter, Jessica Hale, all of Morrisville, N.C.; sister, Lisa K. Hall of Summerton, S.C.; and grandson, Lawrence T. Pembroke of Ashville, N.C.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lana DeBolt.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 7, at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., Annapolis.

Interment will be private.

Mrs. Judith Eileen Clemenko

Mrs. Judith "Judy" Eileen Clemenko, 64, of Annapolis, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009.

Born July 31, 1944, in Lima, Ohio, she was a resident of Annapolis for 11 years. Judy attended the New York Fashion Institute and was retired.

She was a member of the Eastport Yacht Club and ranked top five QVC customer. She enjoyed sailing and shopping.

She was married in 1969 to Michael Clemenko, who predeceased her in 1990.

Surviving are sons, Andrew Clemenko and James Clemenko, both of Annapolis; sister, Sandra Logan of Columbia, S.C.; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Clemenko of Annapolis.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgeley Ave., Annapolis. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Parklawn cemetery.

Mr. Charles H. Frey

Mr. Charles "Charlie" H. Frey, 88, of Frederick, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. He was the husband of Sally Fox Frey, whom he married in 1948.

Born July 14, 1920, in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles H. Frey Jr. and Emma Helen Evans.

He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College and Vanderbilt University Graduate School, receiving a master's degree.

He served in the Armed Forces during World War II and returned to Franklin and Marshall College as a math instructor.

He entered civil service in 1950 and served in Mapping and Charting in Washington, St. Louis, and again in Washington.

He served in the Air Force, Army and Department of Defense. He served on the start-up group for the formation of the Defense Mapping Agency, and retired in 1979. He received the Defense Civilian Achievement Award, the Meritorius Service Award from Department of Army, and the Defense Mapping Agency Distinguished Service Award. He also served as the adjunct secretary of the International Association of Geodesy and retired as fellow.

He served many years as a deacon and an elder in the Presbyterian church and was a member of Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ at the time of his death.

He enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. He enjoyed fishing and wintered in Florida since 1980, until he settled in Frederick in April 2000.

In addition to his loving wife, Sally, he is survived by four children, Cynthia Frey Allison and husband, Harvey, of Austin, Texas, Susan Frey and husband, Douglas Griffin, of Germantown, David Frey of Silver Spring, and John Frey of Princess Anne. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jason Griffin, Jason Cook and Jennifer Frey.

Charlie donated his body to the Maryland Anatomy Board to be used for medical education.

A memorial service will be held for the Homewood Community at this time and a memorial service for friends and family will be held May 9, at Evangelical Reformed UCC and will be announced closer to that date.

Arrangements are by Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlie Frey may be made to Homewood Foundation, P.O. Box 250, Williamsport, MD 21795.
