Mr. Samuel Futrowsky
Mr. Samuel J. Futrowsky, 57, of Frederick, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at his home.
Born in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 18, 1951, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Eason Futrowsky.
Surviving are one sister, Arva Sounder and her husband, John, of Georgia; God daughters, Krystal Thompson and Jennifer Backus and her husband, Peter, all of Frederick; his littlest friend, Emily Brooks; and special friends, Bob and Sandy Naeker. Also survived by his extended Futrowsky family of the Washington, D.C. area.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Mt. Lebanon cemetery, 9500 Riggs Road, Adelphi.
Mrs. Bessie Bussey
Bessie A. Bussey, 77, of Charles Town, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va. She was the wife of William Columbus Bussey, who died June 26, 1988.
Bessie was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Frederick County, to the late George A. and Hester (Weedon) Hardy.
Mrs. Bussey retired from Jefferson County Board of Education as a cafeteria cook. She was a member of St. Philips Episcopal Church, Charles Town, W.Va. and a graduate of Lincoln High School in Frederick.
She is survived by son, David Lee Bussey of Charles Town, W.Va.; four daughters, Barbara West and husband, Langston, of Leesburg, Va., Eleanor Bussey of Charles Town, W.Va., Cynthia Yates and husband, Ernest, of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Sharon Bussey of Winchester, Va.; eight grandchildren; sisters, Frances Hardy of Pennsauken, N.J., Esther Brown, Edna Bowie, Kathryn Lockley, all of Hagerstown, Eleanor Hosby and husband, Robert, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Lillie Morris and husband, Leo, of Burkittsville; and two brothers, William Hardy and wife, June, of Brunswick and Robert Hardy and wife, Wilma, of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bessie was preceded in death by a granddaughter; and brother, George C. Hardy.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Faith Tabernacle Church, Border Road, Kearneysville, W.Va. Rev. Donald Marbury will officate.
Interment will be held in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Marion Ausherman
Mr. Marion H. Ausherman, 81, of Frederick, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at Glade Valley Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Charlotte E. Ausherman, whom passed away in 2006. The son of the late Ira Daniel Ausherman and Della Mae Rice, he was born Sept. 2, 1927 in Frederick.
Mr. Ausherman entered the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from high school. After his discharge, he worked as a brick layer for Harold Brown Masonry.
Surviving are his son, Michael S. Ausherman and his fianc?e Marcia Adams and grandson Zachary Michael Ausherman. He is also survived by his brother, Clarence Ausherman and his sister, Dolores Harper and her husband John. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Jean Ausherman.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Glade Valley Nursing Center for their kind and gracious care they provided during the last years.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.
Interment will be at Mount Olivet cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Harper, Donnie Ausherman Jr., Dana Carberry, Bernard Clark, Kenny Creeger, Roy Taylor, Larry Ausherman and Erin Brown.
Mrs. Phyllis Thompson
Phyllis Ann Thompson, 74, of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Vindobona Nursing Home, Braddock Heights.
She was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Sandy Hook and was the daughter of the late Samuel Robert Hughes Sr. and Hazel Powers Hughes.
She was a retired secretary with Loudoun County Hospital, Leesburg, Va.
She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Brunswick.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Raymond Thompson, of Braddock Heights; one sister, Pauline Andreczjack, of Douglasville, Ga.; one brother, Samuel R. Hughes Jr., of Pendleton, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Jeannette Donovan.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Samples Manor cemetery. The Rev. Vicky Starnes will officiate.

Mrs. Dorothy Herbold
Mrs. Dorothy Ziegler Herbold, of Frederick, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 2, 2009, at Northampton Manor after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born Dec. 27, 1919, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Minton Ziegler, and the loving wife of Charles Frederick Herbold Jr., who passed away in 1958.
She is survived by a son, Charles Frederick Herbold III of Baltimore, and her daughter, Peggy Herbold Fessler and husband, Joseph, of Walkersville. She is also survived by three loving grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Fessler of Walkersville, and Blake Herbold of Westminster.
A graduate of Towson State Teachers College, Mrs. Herbold retired in 1979 after 35 years as a first-grade teacher in Baltimore City and Baltimore County Public Schools. She loved giving each of her students the very best possible start in first grade.
She was a lifelong member of Temple Baptist Church, Baltimore, serving faithfully as Sunday School superintendent and Vacation Bible School director for many years. After her move to Frederick in 1986, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frederick until her passing.
Interment will be private at the Lorraine Park cemetery, Baltimore. There will be no public viewing.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in her name to the First Baptist Church, 7040 Bowers Road, Frederick, MD 21702.

Mr. M. Howard Devilbiss
Mr. M. Howard Devilbiss, 87, of Westminster, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center after an extended illness. Born May 1, 1921 in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Milton E. and Leah B. Lindsay Devilbiss. He was the husband of Olivia Helwig Devilbiss, his wife of 52 years.
Mr. Devilbiss was a 1938 graduate of New Windsor High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 9th Air Corps, during World War II as a technical sergeant. He was a lifelong farmer, first with chickens, then he and his wife were dairy farmers and later he farmed with his sons.
He was a member of Linganore United Methodist Church, Unionville, where he served on the board of trustees. He was a former director of the Pure Bred Guernsey Association, on the county and state levels, a member of the Carroll Forestry board of directors and the Carroll County Farm Bureau.
He was a professional arts framer and enjoyed birds, flowers, gardening, reading, the Baltimore Colts and Orioles. He and his wife were vendors at the Carroll County Farmers Market for more than 20 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert "Corky" Devilbiss and wife Donna of Westminster and Roland "Bunk" Devilbiss of New Windsor; a grandson, Adam H. Devilbiss of Westminster; and a sister, Mildred D. Hesson of Carroll Lutheran Village; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kitty Baile Brand in 2006.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Linganore United Methodist Church, 8921 Clemsonville Road, Unionville. Rev. David A. Coakley, his pastor, will officiate.
Private interment will be in Linganore cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor.

Mr. Jan 'Chris' Weaver
Jan Christian "Chris" Weaver, 43, of Frederick, passed away at his home on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009.
He was born July 25, 1965, in Takoma Park, to Antje B. (Weaver) Schneider of Surprise, Ariz. and the late Kirk Weaver.
He is survived by his mother and her husband, Morrie Schneider; a sister, Bridget Weaver and nephew, James Forder of Seaford, Del.; a brother, Bruce Weaver and sister-in-law, Margie and niece, Tori of Unionville. He will be fondly remembered by an aunt, Hilda Weaver of New Bern, N.C. and close friends, Lloyd Gregory and Mik Corrigan.
Chris was a talented poet, musician and artist.
A memorial gathering will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, P.A., 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Mr. Albert C. Lowe
Mr. Albert C. Lowe, 71, of Upper Fairmount, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at his home.
Born March 24, 1937, in Germantown, he was a son of the late Louis E. Lowe and Louise Barnhouse Lowe.
Albert had worked as a plumber for the State of Maryland Park and Planning Commission. He liked to trap and also worked with his son-in-law, Bill Miller. Every year in the fall, Albert and his wife would drive to Butler's Orchard, where they would stay with family members, while he drove tractors for hay rides and she worked the fruit stand.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Jean Howard Lowe of Upper Fairmount; three children, Albert Eugene Lowe and companion, Sally Tobery, of Sykesville, Lark Jean Miller and husband, Bill, of Princess Anne, and Roseanna Reed and fianc?, Michael Trickler, of Williamsport; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Steve Eugene Lowe and Richard Lowe, both of Princess Anne, and Stoney Lee Lowe of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Janet Lowe, and a brother, Sonny Lowe, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Nolan Ford will be officiating. Interment will be held in Beechwood cemetery in Princess Anne.

Mrs. Mary Jane Houser
Mrs. Mary Jane Houser, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at her home in Damascus. She was the wife of the late Robert B. Houser Jr., whom died November 1984.
Born June 13, 1934, in Washington, she was a daughter of the late Theodore George and Mildred Underwood Langway.
Surviving her are two children, Lisa Ann Houser and Steven M. Houser; two sisters, Betty Pisciotta and Anita Woody; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Houser was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Judd; and brother, Harry Langway.
Funeral services and interment are private. Arrangements are by Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus.

Mr. Robert Martin
Mr. Robert T. Martin, 86, of Frederick, passed away at home Friday, Jan. 30, 2009. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Conn Martin, and formerly the husband of the late Dorothy E. Martin.
Born June 1, 1922, in Latrobe, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles D. Martin and Alice Black Morton.
Mr. Martin served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, flying in B-24s in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations. Serving under Gen. Claire Chennault, Mr. Martin was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, and other commendations for combat service.
After the war, he worked for the Office of Strategic Services, which later became the C.I.A. Mr. Martin retired from service to his country in September 1973. In his last years, he enjoyed duckpin bowling, and won several trophies from the Terrace Lanes Bowling League.
He is survived by a son, a granddaughter, two step-granddaughters, three stepsons, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place at noon Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N., Frederick.
Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Veterans Garden of Honor II at Resthaven. Deacon George Sisson will officiate.
