Mrs. Etta Travis

Mrs. Etta Louise Travis, 81, of Frederick, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick. She was the wife of Charles L. "Bud" Travis, her husband of more than 50 years.

Born Feb. 2, 1928, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Bernice Francis. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frederick. She was a great cook and especially enjoyed baking cakes as gifts for her friends.

She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Francis Travis and Mark David Travis; a brother, William Francis; and a sister, Betty Jean Travis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23. The Rev. Ron Reaves will officiate.

Interment will take place in Mount Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1415 W. Seventh St., Frederick, MD 21702.

Mrs. Hazel M. Gibson

Mrs. Hazel M. Gibson, 69, of Frederick, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Gloria Sullivan and husband, John, of Ashburn, Va., John Gibson, Randy Gibson and wife, Betty, of Frederick, and Dawn Combs and husband, Donald, of Ashburn, Va. She was a beloved sister and grandmother.

Mrs. Gibson was also preceded in death by son, Michael Gibson.

The family received friends and family yesterday, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. 15 N., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, also at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Services, Skkot Cody, P.A., Frederick.

Mr. Robert Lee Hutzell

Mr. Robert Lee Hutzell, 60, of Boonsboro, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at his home.

Born Jan. 14, 1949, in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Grayson Lyon and Violet Glendora Haupt Hutzell.

He was a 1967 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He was employed by Bidle Farms in Middletown. He was a Protestant.

He is survived by two sisters, Clara Hollar and Debra J. Moore, both of Sharpsburg.

Services and burial will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the family, to help offset funeral expenses, in care of Doris Bidle, 7702-B Marker Road, Middletown, MD 21769.

Mr. Robert A. Marmet

Mr. Robert A. Marmet died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in Fort Myers, Fla. He was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Omaha, Neb., to Robert and Helen (Anderson) Marmet.

Bob and his wife, Barbara, lived on High Hope Farm near Urbana for 25 years. He was active in the Urbana Civic Association, a member of the Frederick County Forestry Board and district zoning chair for southern Frederick County.

Bob was a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy, Class of 1947. He remained in the Navy until 1955. While in the Navy he attended Georgetown University Law Center at night, and upon graduation began practicing law in Washington. Bob specialized in communications law, representing applicants for radio and television licenses before the Federal Communications Commission.

Bob volunteered in various civic and charitable organizations in the Washington metropolitan area. He was active in the Boys Club of Greater Washington, served as chairman and president of the National Capital Union Presbytery and served as trustee of the Beauvoir School and the Barnesville School.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; four children, Lynne Marmet McCombs of Bethesda, Robert G. Marmet of The Plains, Va.; Richard A. Marmet of New York, N.Y., and Roger D. Marmet of Chevy Chase; and ten grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, at All Saints Church, Chevy Chase.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Bob's name to the St. Andrews Episcopal Church Capital Campaign Fund, P. O. Box 272, Boca Grande, FL 33921.

Miss Rose Marie Mullineaux

Miss Rose Marie Mullineaux, 80, of Mount Airy, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Golden Years Senior Assisted Living in Mount Airy.

Born July 17, 1928, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Hobart M. and Nellie Watkins Mullineaux.

She was recently recognized for being a member of the Howard Chapel-Ridgeville United Methodist Church for 66 years.

Surviving are sister, Emma Herndon and husband, Tyler, of Keymar; brother, T. Stanley Mullineaux and wife, Betty, of Frankewing, Tenn.; nephew, Allen Herndon; and nieces, Juanita Mullineaux, Marjorie Radey, Laurie Dorsey and Dottie Rebert; and a special caregiver at Golden Years, Cynthia Mighty.

She was predeceased by an infant sister, Elaine Virginia Mullineaux; and brothers, James, William and Robert Mullineaux; and a niece, Linda Mullineaux.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, at the Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Montgomery Methodist cemetery, Damascus.

Mrs. Blanche S. White

Blanche S. White, 85, of Frederick, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Marie Souther.

She was previously an active member at Hillandale Baptist Church and currently a member of Montgomery Hills Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three children, David C. White of Adelphi, Susan W. Goldsmith and husband, Terry, of New Market and Timothy W. White and wife, Stacey, of Glen Burnie; five grandchildren, Heather, Patrick, Timothy, Brandon and Christopher; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Macy and Travis; a sister, Miriam Bennett; brother-in-law, Jay C. White and wife, Liz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will also be remembered by all of the staff and friends at Country Meadows of Frederick.

She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Louise Ward and Norma Brown; and a brother, Ryan Souther.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, with Dr. Thomas Huff officiating.

Interment will be in George Washington cemetery, Adelphi.

Memorial contributions may be made to Country Meadows, 5955 Quinn Orchard Road, Frederick, MD 21704.

Mrs. Virginia Demory McReynolds

Virginia Demory McReynolds, 65, of North Tazewell, Va., died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Clinch Valley Medical Center at Richlands, Va.

Born Oct. 26, 1943, in Frederick, she was a daughter of Floyd Demory of Taylorstown, Va. and the late Regina Stine Demory. Mrs. McReynolds retired from the United States Food and Drug Administration.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth McReynolds; three children, Regina Johnson and husband, Edward of Winchester, Va., Kenneth McReynolds Jr. and fianc?e, Cara Trittipoe, of Stephens City, Va., and Denise Osterhoudt and husband, Chad, of Leesburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Garrett Osterhoudt of Leesburg, Va., Deanna McReynolds of Stephens City, Va., Jay McReynolds of Duluth, Ga.; one brother, Wayne Demory of Leesburg, Va.; three sisters, Sherry Stanford of Athens, Ala., Darlene Rogers of Fort Smith, Ariz., and Joyce Nichols of Shepherdstown, W.Va.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Pastor Ronald Hager officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Kenneth McReynolds Jr., Chad Osterhoudt, Garrett Osterhoudt, Eddie Johnson, and Paul McReynolds.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Legacy Hospice, Inc., 1963 Second St., Richlands, VA 24641.

Mrs. Laura Ann Guthrie

Mrs. Laura Ann Guthrie, 62, of Frederick, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy, after waging a courageous three-year battle against ovarian cancer. She was the loving wife of Reverend Clinton C. Guthrie Jr. her husband of 39 years.

Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Sherman, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Eugene and Ann Thomas Skelton.

Laura graduated from Central High School in Phoenix, Ariz. and went on to graduate from Baylor University, Waco, Texas, then received her master's degree from Western Maryland College, Westminster. She taught in elementary and middle schools in Denver, Colo., Baytown, Texas., Chardon, Ohio, Graceville, Fla., Carol Christian Academy, Westminster, and Frederick County Public Schools, where she retired last September after a long tenure as principal of Spring Ridge Elementary School.

During her career with FCPS, Laura was a teacher, School Support teacher, a consultant in staff development, assistant principal at, now, Lincoln Elementary School then Hillcrest Elementary School, then principal at Wolfsville Elementary School before becoming principal of Spring Ridge Elementary.

Her love of the Lord and faith in Christ led her to a life of service in many churches as a pianist, Sunday School teacher, women's leader, conference leader, youth worker, children's worker, counselor, and pastor's wife. She also lived her life of faith as a teacher, school administrator, neighbor, and friend.

Laura enjoyed traveling all over the United States and to several foreign countries, doing mission work in some. She was a helper and encourager to many.

In addition to her husband, Clint, she is survived by a brother, Henry Skelton and wife, Janet, of Athens, Texas; a sister, Martha Carpenter and husband, Bain, of Brentwood, Tenn.; and another brother, William Skelton and wife, Heloisa, of Nunan, Ga.; plus several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, March 23, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, at South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Dr., Frederick, Md., with the Rev. Dr. Michael Trammell officiating. Burial will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 I-15 N, Frederick, following the service.

Mr. Bernard Thomas DeGrange

Mr. Bernard Thomas "Rick" DeGrange, 61, of Frederick, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born June 12, 1947, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Harlen W. and Sadie Hurst DeGrange.

Rick had worked as a handyman, delivered newspapers, worked as a custodian for the Frederick County Public Schools and for many years he had worked for the G.L. Bakery in Frederick. He was a member of the Improved Order of Red Men, Chippewa Tribe No. 19, in Frederick.

Surviving him are two children, Laura DeGrange, of Frederick, and Jackson Metz of Hagerstown; one brother, David DeGrange and fianc?e, Wanda, of Frederick; three sisters, Shirley Gibbons and husband, Harold, of Frederick, Geraldine Wilson of North Carolina, and Carol Heatherly and husband, Charles, of Frederick; one granddaughter, Brittany; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and caregiver, Tina M. Houck, of Frederick. He will also be remembered by a special friend, John Pigott, of Frederick; and his dog, Chi Chi.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Bud" DeGrange and Harlen "Muggs" DeGrange; and one sister, Patricia Duvall.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 23, from the graveside in Union Chapel cemetery, Daysville Road, near Libertytown. Rev. Dr. W. Philip Fogarty will officiate. Mrs. Edna Hauf

Edna "Mom Mom" Miller Hauf, of Sykesville and formerly of Catonsville, died Friday, March 20, 2009, with her family by her side.

She was the spouse of the late John Scott Hauf Sr.

Mrs. Hauf was born Oct. 23, 1913, in Baltimore.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, friends and the staff at Transitions Health Care. She also liked to cook and spend time in Ocean City.

Surviving are grandchildren, Scott, David and Kurt Hauf, Mary Lee Diggs, Tracey Graham and Bruce Harris; great-grandchildren, Scotty, Matthew and Jackson Hauf, Shannon, Richie and Keith Diggs, Doug and Kristin Graham.

Mrs. Hauf was preceded in death by children, John S. Hauf Jr. and Mary Jane Harris and grandson, Paul Harris Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD 21784; where family will have viewing one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Baltimore National cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
