Mr. Harvey Moore
Mr. Harvey L. Moore, 89, of Frederick, died Sunday, April 26, 2009.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Colleen (Phillips) Moore.
Mr. Moore was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockville. He was employed in building engineering for the Carnegie Institute of Washington, D.C., retiring after many years of service. Previously, he was employed in the plumbing trade. He was an accomplished craftsman, making furniture and other wood projects.
Mr. Moore will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Ila Snyder and husband, Dean, of Boiling Springs, N.C.; three sons, Harvey L. Moore II of Idaho, Raymond A. Moore and wife, Carolyn, of Catonsville, and William M. Moore and wife, Bonnie, of Frederick; five grandchildren, William Snyder, Deana Lee and husband, Michael, Rachel, Jason Moore and fianc?e, Kristen, and her daughter, Kyra and Jonathan Moore; and one brother, Raymond Moore of Florida.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Ralph, George, Frank and Albert Moore; and a sister, Thelma Voight.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at the funeral home. Interment in Park Heights cemetery, Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frederick Memorial Hospital, Cancer Research, 400 W. Seventh St., Frederick, MD 21701.
Ms. Mary Henderson
Ms. Mary Marguerite Henderson, 51, of Burkittsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born in Frederick County on Feb. 6, 1958, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Mabel Weedon Henderson.
She was a member of the Mount Zion AME Church, Knoxville, and assisted with the Lord's kitchen at the church and was a graduate of Brunswick High School.
She is survived by one son, Michael Henderson and wife, Mary, of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Sierra Henderson; eight brothers and sisters, Roy Henderson of Burkittsville, Daniel Henderson and friend, Pat, of Hagerstown, David Henderson and friend, Sharon, of Burkittsville, Van Allen and wife, Patricia, of Frederick, Richard Henderson and wife, Bonnie, of Petersville, Hilda Smith of Berlin, N.J., Virginia King and husband, Thomas, of Hagerstown, Betty Weedon and husband, Maurice, of Frederick; and a maternal friend, Barbara Terry Koroma of Lanham. She is also survived by the following aunts and uncles, Christine Ambush, Bessie Holliman and Uncle Gene, Virginia Simms, Roxie Weedon, Uncle Richard and Uncle Cornelius. She was taking care of her loving uncle, Uncle Richard, at the time of her death. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.
She was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Bailey Henderson.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, from Mount Zion AME Church, 202 Jefferson Pike in Knoxville. The Rev. Jonathan Davis will officiate. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Interment will be made in the AME cemetery in Burkittsville.
Mrs. Goldie Smith
Mrs. Goldie Irene Smith, 61, of Union Bridge, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at her residence. She was the wife of John F. Smith Jr., her husband of 40 years.
Born Nov. 4, 1947, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Milburn William and Evelyn Goldie Poole Mock. She was a homemaker. Goldie enjoyed playing Scrabble, cooking and canning, and loved cats. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Robert L. Smith and wife, Lisa, of Union Bridge; a granddaughter, Alicia E. Smith of Union Bridge; a sister, Margaret A. Bohn and husband, Robert, of Hagerstown; a brother, Wayne M. Mock of Union Bridge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joanne King of Union Bridge, Louise Willard of Thurmont, Frank Smith of Thurmont and Anne Fogle of Woodsboro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including Hilda E. Bohn of Hagerstown. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by nephew, David Fogle.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the funeral home with The Rev. Jeff Gehris of Graceham Moravian Church, Thurmont, officiating.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
Mr. Dennis Hudlow
Dennis Gene "Papa" Hudlow, 58, of Damascus, died recently.
Gene owned and operated Windproof Roofing of Mount Airy.
Growing up in Rockville, he mastered his father's passion for archery and became a state champion as a member of the Manahoic Bow Hunters, as well as an accomplished salom water skier with the Seneca Ski Bees.
His love of riding motorcycles took him on many adventures, one being part of the crew that built the ramp for Evel Knievel when he attempted to jump the Snake River in Idaho.
He loved the sport of boxing and even got to manage/promote a professional boxer.
He loved music, played the guitar and sang in the group Cops and Robbers.
Gene will be most remembered by his vast circle of friends--for his big generous heart, his ability to always find the good side in everyone, and his signature laugh that always made you smile.
He lived his life to the fullest measure and to the beat of his own drum.
He was the beloved son of Dewey and Lois Hudlow, father to sons, Robbie and Shane (fianc?e, Samantha), and daughter, Karrine; grandfather to Brendan and Leila; one sister, Joyce, and husband, Jim, (sons, Justin and Jake, deceased son Derek Adam); four brothers, Joel and wife, Gail (sons, Jesse and James), Mark (daughters, Julie and Casey), Timmy and wife, Laurie, (sons, Zachary, Caleb and Elijah, daughter, Phoebe), Matthew and wife, Kelly, (son, Thomas and daughter, Stephanie); former wives Chris Luck, Sherene Biden and Lynn Jackson.
He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Sebrina and Selena.
A viewing for friends will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Francis Barber Funeral Home, Laytonsville. A family-only service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at the funeral home.
Mr. Michael Carr
Michael Lee Carr, 61, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his daughter's home in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., with the care of his loving family by his side while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. Born June 7, 1947, in Covington, Ky., he was the son of the late Cecil Lee and Rosemary Woodington Carr.
He retired after 25 years of service with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation, then worked for R.F. Kline Construction for 12 years.
He is survived by wife of 35 years, Marguerite Maisonneuve Carr at home; two sons, Richard Carr and wife, Sherry, of Jefferson, and Nicky Carr of Frederick; one daughter, Demeris Hall and husband, Greg, of Harpers Ferry; two brothers, Gary Carr of Hagerstown and Les Carr of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Cecelia Jarrell of Boone County, W.Va.; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Fellowship Bible Church, outdoor chapel, 160 Daniel Road, Shenandoah Junction, WV 25442. Pastor Van Marsceau will officiate.
The family requested memorial donations be sent to Fellowship Bible Church at the above address in memory of Michael Lee Carr.

Mrs. Anna Dawson,
Anna Louise Dawson, 78, of Brunswick, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1931, in Brunswick, the daughter of the late William Henry Foreback and Adlai Willis Foreback.
She was a retired manager from Patricia's Florist in Brunswick and also an aide at Brunswick Elementary School.
She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Brunswick. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Steadman-Kennan Post No. 96 of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1136 and the Women of the Moose Chapter No. 660.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Lucas and husband, Ray Jr., of Frederick, Lou Ann Garvey and husband, Tom, of Lancaster, Pa.; three sons, Robert Dawson Jr. and wife, Cathey, of Brunswick, Roger Dawson and wife, DeAnna, of Brunswick and Ryan Dawson and wife, Rosemary, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one sister, Helen Minnich of Brunswick; one brother, Donald Foreback of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by caregivers, Joy Houck, Bonnie Byrd and Larry Stitely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Dawson Sr.; two sons, Richard Dawson and Randy Dawson; three brothers, Howard, Charles, and Robert Foreback; and fianc?, Owen Baker Pearrell.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick. Pastor Andrea Ernest will officiate. Interment will be in Park Heights cemetery, Brunswick.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 1, at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick.
Pallbearers will be Robert Dawson III, Richard Dawson II, Michael Dawson, Seth Dawson, Kenneth Dawson, David McCormick and Bernard Quesada. Honorary pallbearer will be Ryan Dawson Jr.

Mrs. Lucille Goulart
Lucille W. Goulart, 83, of Frederick, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of the late Harold S. Goulart who died in 1992.
Born Jan. 9, 1926, in Mapleton, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Minnie Sedam Williamson.
Mrs. Goulart was a resident of the Frederick area, a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Goulart is survived by her sons, Frank Goulart and wife, Karen Christof, of Frederick, Bill Goulart and wife, Lorin, of Leesburg, Va.; her daughters, Jeanne Spielman and husband, Robert, of Warrenton, Va., Mary Davis and husband, Richard, of Gaithersburg; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Paul Williamson of Iowa.
Visitation with family will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
A mass of Christian burial will held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Frederick. Father Leo Holleran will officiate. Interment will be at the St. Mary Catholic cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa.
Mrs. Joan Tereyla
Joan B. Tereyla, 81, of Hagerstown, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walkersville.
She was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Robert Vincent and Beatrice Grendon O'Leary.
She was employed as a secretary with the U.S. government until retiring in 1985.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Hagerstown.
Survivors include her husband, Matthew Peter Tereyla, married
for 32 years, of Hagerstown; daughters, Karen Kelpy of Monrovia, Nancy Dyer of Sykesville, Terry Darragh of Frederick, and Janice Barnes of Livingston, Mont.; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, Jack O'Leary.
Special thanks to Maureen Ramsey for all her care and support for our mother.
Our family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Glade Valley for the wonderful care and love our mother received.

Mr. Zachary Hammond
Zachary Douglas Hammond, 18, of Myersville, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Prince George's Hospital Center. He was the son of Dwight Douglas Hammond Jr. and Connie Mae Hammond of Myersville.
Zachary was born Jan. 17, 1991, in Gettysburg, Pa.
In addition to his parents, Zachary is survived by two brothers, Joshua Douglas Hammond and Jacob Douglas Hammond; a sister, Emily Mae Hammond; maternal grandparents, Frieda M. Walker and Geary E. Walker; paternal grandfather, Dwight Hammond Sr. and his wife, Deborah Hammond; paternal grandmother, Patricia O'Fallon and her husband, Michael O'Fallon; great-grandmothers, Leona Marshall and Evaleen Shifflett; an uncle, James R. Asbury Jr.; as well as other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James R. Asbury Sr.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N., Frederick. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Chapel Mausoleum at Resthaven. Floral tributes are welcome.

Mrs. Patricia Burns
Mrs. Patricia L. Burns, 74, of Walkersville, died peacefully in her sleep and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at her residence.
Born Feb. 16, 1935, in Mason City, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Willard Alvin and Rosalyn Rosenberg Trudeau. She was an account clerk at Summit County Children's Home in Ohio, retiring in 2001, after 32 years service.
Surviving are five children, Mark S. Burns and wife, Kristine, of Raleigh, N.C., and their children, Drew, Clint and Kyle; Lori J. Goldberg of Arnold, and her children, Sam, Stuart and Ethan; Lisa A. Bedrosian and husband, Scott, of Tampa, Fla., and their children, Josiah, Peter, Caleb, Esther, Luke, Grace, Daniel and Isaac; Marty Burns and wife, Suzanne, of Thurmont, and their children, Chad and Danielle; and Mathew J. Burns and wife, Katherine, of Frederick, and their children, Katie and Kelly. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Jackson Burns; a brother, Roger Trudeau and wife, Ruthie, of Ohio; and a sister, Jackie Polansky of Texas.
Patricia was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie J. Burns.
