Mr. Robert Cavedo

Robert "Bob" Fitzgerald Cavedo, 70, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, at his residence.

Born Friday, Dec. 9, 1938, in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late Willis Henry Cavedo and the late Margaret Beiu Clegg Cavedo. His wife, JoAnn Cartwright Cavedo preceded him in death in 1992.

He graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va. and then graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. He retired from NCR/ AT&T; in 1996. Robert was a volunteer for the American Diabetes Association Montgomery County Chapter and helped to organize the Race for the Cure Bike-a-thon. Robert and his wife were instrumental in founding the National Capital Area Chapter of the ALS Association. Most recently "Mister Bob" volunteered in the first grade classroom at Eastern Elementary. He loved helping the children learn.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Naddeo and husband, Mark, of Smithsburg; his son, Robert Fitzgerald Cavedo Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Dunkirk; sister, Phyllis C. Weisser of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, John R. Cavedo of Hilton Head, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Connor and Brenna Naddeo.

Services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Willie Hill

Mrs. Willie Dennis Hill, known as "Billie," 93, of Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Her husband, Clyffeton William Hill Jr., known as "Clyff," died Feb. 9, 1997.

Surviving are two sons, Clyffeton William Hill III, and wife, Lauren, of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and Edmund Dennis Hill and wife, Merrill, of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren, Geoffrey S. Hill and wife, Jill, Matthew D. Hill, Mallory J. Hill and John W. Hill; two great-grandchildren, Allondra and Oscar Hill. She was preceded in death by her brother, Blumer Horace Dennis Jr.

Billie was born Oct. 15, 1915, near Waresville in Heard County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Blumer Horace Dennis and Dora Cooper Dennis.

Billie grew up in LaFayette, Ga., where she graduated from high school with honors. After working for several years in the textile industry, she continued her education on a part-time basis and began work as a social worker for the National Youth Administration. She also served as youth coordinator for the Walker County Civilian Defense in 1941-1942. As a youth, Billie was active in the Presbyterian Church as a Sunday School teacher, president of the local and district Presbyterian Youth, and served as the first female president of the Presbyterian Youth of Synod of Georgia. In 1941, she represented the Presbyterian Youth of Georgia at the first interracial/interfaith conference for youth ever held south of the Mason-Dixon Line, at Black Mountain College in North Carolina.

Billie moved to Florida in late 1942, where she was office manager for Brown Oil & Chemical Company. She resigned in 1948 to marry Clyff and to raise a family. Her first son, Clyff III, was born in 1950 and second son, Dennis, followed in 1952.

Billie and Clyff moved several times during Clyff's career as a chemical engineer before settling in Frederick, in 1962. In addition to her devotion as homemaker and mother, she resumed study and action in her favorite subject: U.S. International relations. She was active in the American Academy of Political and Social Science, the Center for the study of Democratic Institutions, the United Nations Association, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Baltimore Council of Foreign Affairs, the Great Decisions program of the Foreign Policy Association, and her beloved League of Women Voters.

As a member of the "League" for more than 40 years, she chaired the committee on International Relations for many years beginning in 1964. She also directed studies on U.S. Foreign Development and Military Aid, Trade, the United Nations, International Institutions and National Security. Billie was awarded a Citation of Merit by the national League of Women Voters in 1984 for her work through the years on foreign policy issues.

After retiring to Homewood at Crumland Farms of Frederick in 1999, Billie remained active as co-editor of the Assisted Living facility newsletter. She continued her study of international relations and led discussion groups of Homewood residents on foreign policy and current news topics.

The family will receive friends from noon until services at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Doris Stang

Mrs. Doris G. Stang, 88, of Mount Airy, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Lorien Life Center, Mount Airy. She was the wife of the late John F. Stang Sr., who died in 1971.

Born July 27, 1920, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Leroy Glenn and Pearl Stang. Doris worked in the bakery department at the A&P; Grocery Store in Aspen Hill, retiring in the 1980s after nine years service. She was a member of Glenmont United Methodist Church in Wheaton and was especially involved with the church's bazaars.

Surviving are four children, John Stang Jr. and wife, Annette, of Monrovia, Timothy Stang and wife, Karen, of Glenelg, Jacqueline Ann Wheelock and husband, Robert, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Carol Nowland and husband, Aubrey, of Germantown; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Glenn and wife, Ginny, of Everett, Pa., and Robert Glenn and wife, Sally, of Laurel; two sisters, Ruth Goodman of Annapolis and the late Margaret Saunders.

Graveside services and interment will take place noon on Wednesday, May 13, at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville. The Rev. David R. Bare will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, Inc., 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.

Mrs. Roswitha Wolfe

Mrs. Roswitha "Rose" Wolfe, 55, of Poolesville, died Saturday, May 9, 2009. She was the wife of James Wolfe.

Rose was born in Germany on Dec. 20, 1953, to the late Otto and Anna Lustner.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her children, Jeffrey Wolfe and wife, Jaimie, of Barton, Kevin Wolfe of Texas, Jessica Wolfe of Hagerstown; one brother, Friedhelm Lustner of Germany; and three grandchildren, Ashlee, Owen and Dylan.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the funeral home. A cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose's name to one's favorite charity.

Mr. Lloyd Manahan

Mr. Lloyd Morris Manahan, 93, of Sabillasville, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth Naomi Bowman Manahan, who died April 19, 1994.

Born Aug. 31, 1915, in Sabillasville, he was a son of the late Guy and Jennie Willard Manahan.

Mr. Manahan had been employed as a farmer. He was a member of Deerfield United Methodist Church, Sabillasville.

Surviving are seven children, Junior Manahan of Thurmont, Robert Manahan and wife, Judy, of Emmitsburg, Richard Manahan and wife, Patricia, of Sabillasville, Martin Manahan, Janet Jewell and husband, Robert, Betty Renner and husband, Robert, all of Thurmont, and Barney Manahan and wife, Tina, of Sabillasville; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Richard Manahan; a sister, Catherine Portner; and daughters-in-law, Delores Manahan and Rose Manahan.

Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 E. Main St., Thurmont.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at funeral home with the Rev. Barry Taylor and the Rev. Billy Bowman will officiate.

Interment will be in Mt. Moriah cemetery, Foxville.

Mr. Clyde Unglesbee

Clyde Wachter Unglesbee, 89, of Brookeville, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Casey House Hospice in Rockville. Born Jan. 31, 1920, in Daisy, he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Bessie Wachter Unglesbee.

A 1938 graduate of Sherwood High School, he married the former Anna M. Linton on Oct. 18, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1946 with 18 months in the European Theater of Operations. After World War II, he worked for K.W. Simpson Co., then Olney Electric Co., which he purchased with his wife in 1957 and operated until his retirement in 1990.

Mr. Unglesbee was a Town of Brookeville commissioner, charter president and life member of Olney Chamber of Commerce, member of the board of directors of: Montgomery General Hospital; Sandy Spring National Bank; Asbury Methodist Village; and Sandy Spring Museum, serving two years as chairman. He served as past commander and chaplain and was a member for 61 years of the American Legion Norman Price Post #68. He was a charter member of Sandy Spring Lions Club in 1946, charter member of Olney Lions Club in 1972, he was zone chairman and deputy district governor. He was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1929 and held many local and district offices in the conference. He was a lay leader of the Washington West District and past secretary of the Baltimore Annual Conference Board of Laity.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Leslie (Josephine) Unglesbee; two sisters-in-law, Mary Unglesbee and Florence Johnston; many loving nieces, nephews, and God-children.

Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, Laytonsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at Salem United Methodist Church, 12 High St., Brookeville, MD 20833.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Salem UMC Legacy Fund, in care of Salem United Methodist Church, at the above address.

Mrs. Roswitha Wolfe

Mrs. Roswitha "Rose" Wolfe, 55, of Poolesville, died Saturday, May 9, 2009.

She was the wife of James Wolfe.

Rose was born in Germany on Dec. 20, 1953, to the late Otto and Anna Lustner.

Mrs. Lisa Baker

Mrs. Lisa M. Baker, 49, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with appendiceal cancer, on Friday, May 8, 2009, at Kline Hospice House. She was the wife of Brian F. Baker, her husband of 27 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, daughter, Brittany M. Baker (23), and son, Collin F. Baker (19); mother, Audrey L. Helbert Germon; siblings, Joseph N. Germon Jr. and wife, Lynn, Terry L. Germon and wife, Holly; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Born July 17, 1959, in Bethesda, she was the daughter of the late Joseph N. Germon Sr. and surviving Audrey L. Helbert Germon. She graduated from Magruder High School in Rockville, Class of 1977. She was an employee of Homecare Rehab LLC., for approximately seven years.

Lisa's main focus in life was her family and friends. She loved relaxing at the beach and lake, and will be beloved and missed greatly.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville and from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 13, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 9008 Rosemont Drive, Gaithersburg. Funeral services will be held starting at noon at Epworth United Methodist Church. Following the services, Lisa will be laid to rest at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville.

Floral tributes are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to Mountain View Community Church, In honor of Lisa Baker, 3401 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704.

Ms. Queshia Taylor

Queshia N. Taylor, 22, of Frederick, went home to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, May 2, 2009. She was the daughter of Sylvia Parker and Shawn Taylor along with stepfather, Bobby Warfield; grandparents, Ellen and Frederico Tubaya, and Joseph and Joanne Parker; grandmother, Betty Brand; and great-grandmothers, Rose Scott and Peggy Brooks.

Queshia attended school at Thomas Johnson High School and enjoyed cooking and listening to music. Queshia loved Lil' Wayne, he was her "MAN." She also loved to write poems and draw.

She leaves to cherish her loving son, Jakiah L. Taylor-Barnes, her sisters, Tonieka Parker and Kierra Warfield; two brothers, Malique Worthington and Devonte Warfield; also five other siblings, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-aunts and uncles. Queshia was also specially loved by Norma and Latoya Dorsey, and Paula and Shannon Lyles.

Funeral services are being held Tuesday, May 19. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at Gary Rollins Funeral Home, 110 W. South St., Frederick. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery. Donations will be appreciated to help cover funeral costs.

Mrs. Marie Virginia Lee

Our beloved "Reetey," Mrs. Marie Virginia Lee, 90, of Frederick, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital while surrounded by family and friends.

She was the wife of the late Robert Hilton Lee.

Born Oct. 17, 1918, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Frances Ambush.

Surviving relatives include eight children, son, Bobby and wife, Florence Lee, of Frederick, daughter, Helen and husband, Charles Thompson, of Gaithersburg, daughter, Mary Lee of Frederick, son, Sonny Lee of Frederick, daughter, Gloria and husband, Mose Burton, of Martinsburg, W.Va., son, Bernard and wife, Dorothy Lee, of Silver Spring, daughter, Ida Mae Lee of Frederick, and daughter, Carol Ann Gassaway of Gaithersburg. She is also survived by the devoted Grove family; brothers, Harry Ambush of Washington, Thomas Ambush of Frederick, and Robert "Mighty Mouse" and wife, Theresa, of Frederick; sister-in-law, Helen Roberts of New York; brother-in-law, Larry and wife, Fran Johnson, of Columbus, Ohio; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reetey will also be remembered by special friends, the Sappington family, Mary Timpson, Debra Lewis, Arnold and Marilyn Ambush, Bonnie Swann, Savannah Boyce, Ruth Duckett, Dolores Ambush, Lola Bowens and Donny Ambush.

Reetey was a member of the Madame CJ Walker, Temple 509; Daughters of IBPOE of W. Frederick and the Rainbow Council of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Reetey attended Maranatha Church of God in Frederick.

The wake and funeral will be on Saturday, May 9, at Calvary Assembly of God, 8234 Woodsboro Pike, Walkersville. A public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. and The Madame C.J. Walker, Temple 509, Daughters of IBPOE, will hold a service from 9:45 to 10 a.m. The Lee family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral promptly at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are by Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, 110 W. South St., Frederick.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Mrs. Kristen Hernandez-White

Mrs. Kristen Renee Hernandez-White, 30, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.

Kristen was a devoted wife and mother and her greatest joy in life was her family and friends. She "loved to love, and lived to live." She was a 1995 graduate of Frederick High School in Frederick, and was a member of Without Walls International Church. Those who knew her will never forget her smile. Kristen loved "Bunko" night with the girls, Drew's baseball games, watching the sun rise and set, and she was everyone's "Dancing Queen."

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Manard Ellis' "Pee Paw; " grandfather, Harry Yoe Jr. "Sonny; " and great- grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Roland long. She is survived by her husband, Wilfredo Hernandez Jr., son Robert Andrew Thomas, III "Drew," daughter, Emma Renee Hernandez; mother, and stepdad, Debra and Eric Cross; father and stepmom, the Rev. Randy White and Rev. Paula White, mother and father-in-laws; Angie and Wilfredo Hernandez; sister, Angie Pieper (Russell); brothers, Brandon White and Bradley Knight; sister-in-law, Widalis Camacho (Armando); grandmother, Shirley Yoe; grandparents the Rev. Franklin and Darlene White Jr.; grandmother, Genevieve Ellis; grandparents, Robert and Noema Cross, grandmother, Lois Cross; great-grandmother, Mary Kelly; aunts and uncles, Carolyn and Mark Bledsoe, Marie Baer and Rick Stull, Randy and Bonnie Ellis and Connie Hasty. She also leaves to cherish her memory her lifelong friends B.J. Thomas Jr., Connie McKenzie, Alicia Thompson, Thersia Baumbaugh and Shawn A. Fogle.

Friends may call from from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday May 5, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday May 6, at the Maranatha Community Church of God, 123 Byte Drive, Frederick. Entombment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Mr. John Knoblock Jr.

Mr. John William Knoblock Jr., 51, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the Carroll County Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Marie Rebuck Knoblock, on March 2, 2009.

Born April 19, 1958, in Bethesda, he was the son of Barbara Jean Walker Knoblock of Mount Airy, and the late John William Knoblock Sr.

John was a self-employed fence installer. An avid Redskins fan, John enjoyed attending the Preakness and loved horse racing in general. He could be found spending his leisure time at the Cracked Claw in Urbana.

Besides his mother, survivors include his two loving daughters, Brittany N. Barber of Frederick, and Jonni Leigh Knoblock of the home; his stepfather, James Bower of Mount Airy; three siblings, Tammy Johnson of Mount Airy, Kim Hawkins of Mount Airy, and Tracey Knoblock and wife, Portia, of Breman, Ind.; two nieces, Monica Burroughs and Gabrielle Knoblock; two nephews, Danny Albaugh and Micah Knoblock; two great nieces, several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, with the Rev. Merritt Ednie officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Ms. June Tyeryar

Ms. June L. Tyeryar, 49, of Frederick, died Monday, April 27, 2009.

Born July 12, 1959, in Purcellville, Va., she was the daughter of Judith Burns and the late Charles Thomas McDonald. Ms. Tyeryar was a long time resident of Frederick, she was a graduate of Thomas Johnson High School, Class of 1977, and a graduate of Frederick Community College, having received a Bachelor of Science. June worked her first job at Pappy's Family Pub in Frederick. She was later employed at AirPax Industries for over 20 years. She enjoyed swimming and going to the pool with her daughter. She loved lady bugs, life and time spent with family.

In addition to her mother, June is survived by her children, Venus Star, Fabian and wife, Tracey, and Ronald Bollinger; her sisters Charlotte Lightner, Charlene Pennington-Gordon and husband, Glenn, Linda Miller, and Tammy Shankle and friend, Scott; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was additionally survived by her close long time friend, Terry (Rodgers) Shorb.

Ms. Tyeryar was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Marie; her niece, Sara Shankle; and her brother-in-law, Paul R. Pennington.

Visitation with family will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, from the funeral home. The Rev. Chris Bishop will officiate. Interment will be at the Resthaven Memorial Garden, Frederick.
