Peggy Ann Walters, 76 of New Windsor, MD, died Thursday September 11, 2008 at The Dove House in Westminster, MD. She was the spouse of over 56 years to Cleo”Pete” D. Walters who passed away in May of this year. She was the daughter of the late Harvey T. Seymour and the late Oda L. Miller. Mrs. Walters was a 1951 Graduate of Catonsville High School. She was a Full-time Substitute Physical Education Teacher in Baltimore City and County from 1961-1970. Mrs. Walters is a member of Stone Chapel Church. She enjoys Field Hockey, Skating and Horseback Riding. Her hobbies include Drawing and Bear making. Surviving her are Children and their spouses Deborah A. and Paul Arnold of Linwood, MD Wayne D. And Laurie Walters of Westminster, Grandchildren: Heather A. Arnold, Rebecca A. Arnold, Wayne A. Walters and Douglas O Walters. Sister Elizabeth Towle, Nephew: Kenneth Towle. Preceded in death by brothers Harvey Seymour, Jr and Carroll F. Seymour. The Family will receive friends on Sunday September 14, 2008 2 to 4 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Blackwood, Betty Lou
Betty Lou Blackwood (nee Johnson), age 77, of Mt. Airy, died Tuesday September 16, 2008 at Carroll Hospice-Dove House in Westminster, MD. She was born June 5, 1931 in Gilbert, Arizona, the daughter of the late Charles Hilton Johnson, Sr. and the late Clara Schroeder Johnson. She was a contract specialist for the government. She was the wife of the late Norman B. Blackwood, Jr. She was the mother of Linda Terry, Bruce and Bradley Blackwood. Sister of Charles Johnson, Jr. and Mary Rucker. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Saturday September 20, 2008 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mt. Airy Ward) 7255 Ridge Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771 with the Bishop Charles F. Schuman officiating. Interment will be in George Washington cemetery, Adelphi, MD. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Friday from 7-9 PM and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM. Sirk, Raymond W.
Raymond Warren Sirk 84 of Woodbine, MD, died Tuesday September 23, 2008 at his home in Woodbine. He was the spouse of Jean D. (Satterwhite) Sirk of Woodbine. Mr. Sirk was born June 23, 1924 in Criders, VA the son of the late Willis Sirk and the late Sarah (Delaughter) Sirk. He was employed for over 40 years as a farmer with A.E. Mullinix and Son. He served during WWII in the United States Army. He was a member of Four Counties VFW Post 10076 Mt. Airy and also American Legion Gold Star Post 191 Mt. Airy. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses; Warren R. and Peggy Sirk of Walkersville, Brenda M and Robert Hedlund of Mt. Airy, Michael W. and Mary Anne Sirk of Mt. Airy, and Linda M. Main of Mt. Airy. Brother : Herman Sirk of Woodbine, 8 Grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by 6 Brothers and 5 Sisters. Graveside Services will take place Friday September 26, 2008 2:00 PM at True Gospel cemetery, North Ave. Lisbon, MD with the Rev. Irvin Martin of Mt. Airy Mennonite Church officiating. Alma A (Eder) Bristow, 96 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Wednesday September 24, 2008 at Our Family Assisted Living. Beloved wife of 34 years to the late Raymond H. Bristow. She was born December 10, 1911 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Andrew J. Elder and the late Frances Desh Elder. She was Co-Owner of Bristow’s Delicatessen. She was a member of St. Michaels R.C. Poplar Springs. An Active Member at Parkville Rec. Council, An award winning bowler and enjoyed ceramics. Beautiful and Devoted mother of Dolores G. Miller, Audrey H and husband Raul H. Yzaguirre, Sr. Loving Grandmother of Michael, Linda, Deborah, Regina, Raul, Jr., Elisa, Roberto, Rebecca and Benjamin and 17 great-grandchildren. Bell, Robert M.
Robert M. Bell, 59 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Friday September 26, 2008 at Home. He was the spouse of Margaret A. (Zepp) Bell. He was born April 25, 1949 in Hanover, PA. The son of the late John Bell, Sr. and the late Grace(Seager) Bell. Mr. Bell was self-employed. He was a member of Randallstown Optimist Club and the Sportsmans of Arbutus. He enjoyed playing cards and watching football. Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Michael E and Amy N Bell. Granddaughter: Myla Nicole Bell Several Brothers and Sisters of Hanover, PA. Memorial Services will take place Monday September 29, 2008 7 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with Pastor Vicki Hamel of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday 2-4 and 6-7 PM. Chrobot, Walter L.
Walter Lee Chrobot, age 68, of Taylorsville, died Saturday September 27, 2008 at York Hospital in York, PA, as a result of an automobile accident in PA. He was a master carpenter, painter and farmer in Taylorsville, MD. Recently he retired due to health issues and devoted his life to farming, his home and his family. He was born in Howard County, Maryland on March 14, 1940 and was the son of the late Comus Chrobot, Sr. and the late Elsie V. Chrobot (nee Swartz). He is survived by his wife Margie A. Chrobot (nee Arrowood) and four children; Karen Lee Matulonis and son-in-law Wayne of Sykesville, Walter Lee Chrobot, Jr. and daughter in law Susan of Baltimore, Michael Eugene Chrobot and daughter in law Krisie of Hanover, PA and Mickey Chrobot of Taylorsville. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Shirley J. Bennett of Fairfield, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Comus (Sonny) Chrobot, Jr. Funeral Service will be Thursday October 2, 2008 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Jeremiah L. Hymiller, age 77, of Woodbine, died Wednesday October 1, 2008, at his home. He was born December 29, 1930 in Sykesville, MD the son of the late Jeremiah N. Hymiller and the late Rosie Farver Hymiller. Beloved husband of Shirley M. Hymiller (nee Beaver). Devoted Father of Jerry P. Hymiller and Wife Michele of Frederick. Dear brother of Nathan Hymiller of Sykesville, George Hymiller of Mt. Airy, and the late Helen Stauffer and the late Frank A. Hymiller. Loving grandfather of Monica Hymiller. Mary “Adelene” Burrier 83 of Mt. Airy, MD Died Sunday October 5, 2008 at Citizens Nursing Home. She was born January 1, 1925 in Mt. Airy, MD the daughter of the late Emerson E. Burrier and the late Edith Gertrude (Garver ) Burrier. She was a Music Teacher in Frederick for Sperry Storm and gave private lessons at her home. She has a degree in Music and Piano from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD. Ms. Burrier was a Member and Deacon of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren in Mt. Airy, MD where she played organ for 26 years. She is the last living member of her immediate family and is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family is inviting friends for a viewing on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 9, 2008 11 AM at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Rd. Barnes, William T.
Mr. William T. Barnes 85 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Thursday October 9, 2008 at Carroll Hospital Center. He was the spouse of 62 years to Thelma (Shipley) Barnes of Mt. Airy. Mr. Barnes was born April 4, 1923 in Frederick County, MD the son of the late Harry Hanson Barnes and the late Lola Ardene Chaney Barnes. He was a plumber for Van Sant Plumbing and Heating and a Farmer since he was 12 years old. Graveside Services at Prospect UMC cemetery will be Private. Mrs. Barnes will receive friends on Sunday 2 to 4 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.

Bales, Nathan
Nathan Bales, 89 of Hanover PA, formerly of Baltimore, MD, passed peacefully on October 10, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of 48 years to Annabelle (Thompson) Bales. He was born December 10, 1918, in London, KY, the son of the late Joseph Emsley Bales and Roxie (Disney) Bales and the stepson of Rosa (Bryant) Bales. Mr. Bales proudly served his country during WWII as a truck driver in the 75th Quartermaster Company in Germany, France and Brussels and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge from the Army, he made his home in Baltimore, MD and worked most of his life as a carpenter. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and crafts. He was very proud of his workshop where he spent most of his free time during his retirement building furniture, planters and wishing wells. He was a proud life member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle of Hanover, PA, his daughter Dana Leah Roe and her husband Victor Roe of Hanover ; his son Jeffery Scott Bales and his wife, Barbara Jean Bales of Hanover, PA. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Ethan Scott Bales, Kyle Lee Bales, Olivia Erin Bales and Garrett Joseph Bales, Daniel Gregory Roe and Victoria Elizabeth Roe all of Hanover, PA, and his nephews Eddie Adams and his wife Lois and Nathan Dean Adams of London, KY. He was preceded in death by his sister Hazel Adams and his grandson Nathan Victor Roe. Frances Connolly Bond 78 of Lutherville, MD, died Friday October 10, 2008 at Gilchrist Center, Towson, MD. She was the spouse of the late Roy Ellsworth Bond. She was born October 5, 1930 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Ellwood Connolly and Anna Catherine O’Connell Connolly. She was a Bank Teller for over 20 years. She was an active member of Arlington Baptist Church with the Pioneer Girls and also taught Sunday school. She enjoys Gardening, cooling and baking. Surviving her are Children and their spouses: Michael R. and Catherine Bond of Ellicott City, Steven G. and Beth Bond of Finksburg. Brother Gilbert Connolly. Grandchildren Danette and Kevin Hoffman, Luke and Amanda Bond, Sarah and Jeremy Fried, Micah Bond, Douglas and Sarah Logan, Caroline and Sam Ardenec. Grace (Crofts) Parker-Acker, age 83, of Taylorsville for 24 years, formerly of Lutherville and Huntington, West Virginia. She died Tuesday October 14, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Richard Parker and the late Ellsworth Acker. She was born April 25, 1925 in Prineville, OR the daughter of the late Rev. William Henry Crofts; her father founded Open Door Baptist Church in Huntington, WV. And the late Eleanor (Wilson) Crofts, Her father was an Immigrant from England and missionaries to China. She was an Administrative Secretary for CSX railroad. She was a member of Taylorsville U.M. Church and the Open Door Baptist Church of Huntington, WV. Played the organ, loves gardening and her Dachshund Happy II. Survived by sister in law and companion Lucille A. Houck of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Nephew Dr. Richard A. Crofts; niece Donna McManaman, niece Carol Bahr, Nephew Neil Crofts and Nephew Philip Crofts. Funeral Service will be held Friday October 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Taylorsville U.M. Davis and the late Bessie Elizabeth Davis (nee Tucker). He worked at Hoff Brothers Lumber for 28 years. He was member of the Mason-Dixon and Keystone Falcon Club of America. He also restored Falcons. He was the husband of Janis M. Davis (nee Staub). Father of Shannon M. Davis-Green and husband Elvin E. Green II of Abbottstown, PA. Brother of Simon H. Davis of Westminster, MD, Archie F. Davis, Jr. and wife Frances M. of Woodbine, MD, Ralph F. Davis and wife Dianne of Mt. Airy, MD., Evelyn E. Davis of Taneytown, Hilda C. Davis of Mt. Airy, Loretta M. Davis of Taneytown, Lucille V. Byrd of Sykesville, and Nancy L. Hatfield of Woodbine. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and family members. Son in law of Paul and Dora Lee Staub of Florida.
