Mary Stowell Dashiell, 88 of Sykesville, MD, died on Saturday January 28, 2006 at the home of her daughter in Sykesville. She was the spouse of the late Richard H. Dashiell. Mrs. Dashiell was born July 13, 1917 in Baltimore MD the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Mary Wolff Stowell. Mrs. Dashiell retired from Proctor and Gamble in 1982. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 58 years and is now a member of Elders Baptist Church. Surviving her are Son and Daughter-in-law William and Janet Brooks of Anthem, AZ and Daughter and Son-in-law Marilyn and Bob Koogle of Eldersburg. 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday February 1, 2006 10 :30 Am at Elders Baptist Church, 1216 Liberty Rd. Eldersburg, MD 21784 with her Pastor Rev. Jim Edmonson officiating. Interment will be in Loudon Park cemetery, Baltimore, MD. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Elders Baptist Church or Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St. Westminster, MD 21157.

Retta G. Wilhelm Calp, 76 of Granite, MD, died Sunday January 29, 2006 at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown, MD. She was the spouse of Charles W. Calp of Granite, MD. Mrs. Calp was born September 9, 1929 in Beckleysville, MD the daughter of the late Herman Dailey and late Bessie Bowen Wilhelm. Mrs. Calp is a member of Granite Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker. Surviving in addition to her husband is Daughter: Sylvia Croker of Granite, Son and daughter-in-law : Robert and Shelley Calp of Westminster, Sisters: Jeanette Simms of Gamber, and Katherine Fishpaw of Spring Grove, PA, Grandchildren of Aaron and Karen Kelly, Rebecca Calp, Tony Croker and Melissa Calp; Great-granddaughter: Lily Mae Hook. Funeral Sevices will be held Wednesday February 1, 2006 1:30 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with Rev. Elizabeth Rogers of Granite Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7-9 PM.

Laurenzano, Hilda R.
Hilda Ricco Laurenzano, 85 of Westminster, MD, died Friday February 3, 2006 at the home of her daughter in Westminster. She was the spouse of Salvator Laurenzano. Mrs. Laurenzano was born January 24, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Ernesto and late Ida Catalucci Ricco. Mrs. Laurenzano was a homemaker and enjoyed Cooking. Surviving in addition to her husband are Daughter Carolyn Gulmi of Westminster, Son Michael Laurenzano of Middleburg, VA Son and Daughter-in-law Dr. Robert and Loriann Laurenzano of N. Potomac, MD Brother Julio Ricco of Staten Island, NY. Grandchildren Christina and husband George Villegas, Julia and husband Richard MacDonough, Christian Laurenzano, Lori Laurenzano and Carolyn Laurenzano. Great-grandchildren: Josh Villegas, Brianna Lynn Villegas, Joseph, Catherine and Michael MacDonough, Kiara and Laurenzo Laurenzano. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 10:00 AM at St. Josephs Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Rd. Eldersburg, MD 21784. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Aspen Hill, MD. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7-9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Scarborough, Robert D.
Mr. Robert D. Scarborough, Sr., 87 of Eldersburg, MD, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at home. He was the spouse of Evelyn Lewis Scarborough of Eldersburg, MD. Mr. Scarborough was born October 5, 1918 in Harford County, MD. The son of the late Robert C. and late Rachel E. Little Scarborough. Mr. Scarborough was retired from United Insurance where he was an insurance agent. He was a Deacon Emeritus at Elders Baptist Church where he was a member. He was a devoted Family man and Grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife are Son and Daughter-in-law Robert D. Scarborough, Jr. and Ana M. Scarborough of Eldersburg, Son and Daughter-in-law Gary L. and Theresa D. Scarborough of Eldersburg. Grandchildren: Michael D. and wife Sharon Scarborough, Rachel A. Scarborough Ladson and husband Brian. Lauren M. and Hannah L. Scarborough. Brother: Carroll Otis Scarborough. Preceded in death by sister: Ducetta Clark and Brothers: James and Paul Scarborough. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2006 11:00 AM at Elders Baptist Church, 1216 Liberty Rd. Eldersburg, MD 21784 with Pastor James Edmonson officiating. Parker, Charles L.
Charles Lon Parker, 55 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center after a brief illness. He was the spouse of Debbie Mary Robertson Parker. He was born May 25, 1950 in Sylva, North Carolina. The son of the late Charles B. Parker and the late Alleen M. Teague Parker. Mr. Parker worked for over 30 years with Essroc Cement Company in Frederick, MD. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, and avid Hunter and Fisher, and enjoyed Photography. Mr. Parker was a Soccer, Basketball, Baseball and Softball Coach for his Children. Surviving in addition to his wife are Son: Jason Charles Parker of Mt. Airy, Daughter: Megan Alleen Parker of Mt. Airy. Brother and sister-in-law: Ronald L. and Debbie Parker of Finksburg. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by infant Twins: Eric and Christopher Parker. Funeral Services will be held Sunday February 19, 2006 1:30 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with Dr. Gayle Annis Forder of Ebenezer United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Mount Airy, MD. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Bruce, Roger W.
Roger William Bruce, age 72, of Westminster, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 at his home. He was born November 16, 1933 in Watkins Glen, PA the son of the late Frederick Bruce and the late Jessie Watkins Bruce. He was the husband of Phyllis Susan Bruce for 37 years. He earned a Bachelors degree from John’s Hopkins University- Electrical Engineering, He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1954-1956. He was Staff Scientist Electrical Engineer for Link Tactical Simulation Division for 25 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement he was owner/operator of the Whistle Stop in Patapsco for several years. He was a member of the Mt. Airy American Legion. Father of Jennifer Susan Mathis and husband Charles of Westminster
Brother of Robert E. Bruce of Arizona and Charles D. Bruce of Manchester. Son in law of Philip G. Parks of Westminster. Grandfather of Tyler Ryan Foley of Westminster and step grandfather of Nicklous Mathis and Samantha Mathis. Predeceased by a brother Hal Bruce and a sister Maxine Reap. Private Services. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Carroll County Cancer Center, 555 S. Center Street, Westminster, MD 21157.

Kandel, Gregory E.
Gregory E. Kandel, age 56, of Westminster, died Wednesday February 22, 2006 at his home. He was born May 3, 1949 in Los Angeles, CA the son of the late J. Victor Kandel and the late Rose Antoinette Marioni Kandel. He was the husband of Virginia A. Kandel (nee Pierce). He graduated from California Institute of Technology with A BS in 1971. He was a Systems Analyst for Northrup Grumman. Stepfather of Paul Manion of Bloomfield, Michigan and Marie Bohlayer of Freeland, MD. Brother of Marianne Kandel of Hillsboro, Oregon. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. at 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Albert Lane of Calvary U.M. Church in Gamber officiating. Private Interment. Memorial Contributions can be made to Audubon Society.

Brown, Donald B.
Donald Baine Brown, 68 Formerly of Mt. Airy, MD, died Friday February 24 at Carroll Hospital Center. Mr. Brown was born September 5, 1937 in Mt. Airy, MD the son of the late George R. Brown, Sr. and the late Laura Poole Chaney. Mr. Brown was a member of the Class of 1955 at Mt. Airy High School; he worked as a retail clerk for Foodrite and Wal-Mart. Surviving him are Step-father; J. Edward Chaney, Jr. and wife Ruth of Mount Airy. Brother: George R. Brown, Jr. and wife Ruth Ann of Westminster, Niece; Laura Cleveland and husband Michael of Mt. Airy, Nephew: Bradley Brown of Westminster, Great-niece Karly Brown of Mt. Airy and Great-niece and nephew Rachel and Benjamin Cleveland of Mt. Airy, MD. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard K. Shamer of Zion United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD. She was born November 7, 1923 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late John W. Smoot and the late Gay Lola Smoot (nee Reeder). She was a homemaker. She was a retired secretary in a computer room for a large banking firm. She was the wife of the late Melvin Wesley Collins, Sr. Devoted mother of Linda Carol Smith of Finksburg, and Melvin W. Collins, Jr. of West Virginia and the late Keith Lee Collins. Loving grandmother of Suzette Dorsey and Laura Collins. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Caplan-Macklin, Sylvia
Sylvia Caplan Macklin, age 73, of Reisterstown, died Sunday March 5, 2006 at Good Shepherd Hospice Home in Auburndale, FL. She was born March 26, 1932 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Samuel Caplan and the late Rose Rosinsky Caplan. She was a retired secretary for a Dental Lab. She was the wife of Irvin J. Macklin. She was the mother of Mark Katz, Michael Macklin, Arthur Katz, Eileen Katz, Cindy Metzger and Ricky Macklin. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Graveside Service will be held Tuesday March 7, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Oheb Shalom Memorial Park, Berrymans Lane with the Rabbi Amy R. Scheinerman of Beth Shalom Synagogue in Taylorsville officiating. Gathering will be after service on Tuesday and on Wednesday at 219 Brandon Road, Baltimore, MD 21212.

Belva M. Carr (nee Swain), age 93, of Sykesville, died Tuesday March 7, 2006, at Westminster Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Westminster, MD. She was born April 8, 1912 in Belle Grove, MD the daughter of the late James Swain and the late Annie Truax Swain. She was homemaker. Wife of the late Dennis G. Carr. Mother of Janet and Calvin Carey of Sykesville and Ferne and Ted Liebau of Woodbine, James Carr of North Carolina and the late Carroll “Shorty” Carr. Sister of Opal Elliott and Vernon Swain. Predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters. Grandmother of Linda Thompson, Deborah Belt, Donald Carey, LuAnne Jennings, Kathy Baker, Sandra Sullivan, Dennis Carr, Karen Carr and Lisa Kingan. Funeral Service will be held Saturday March 11, 2006 at 12:00 Noon at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Wild, Robert M.
Robert M. Wild, age 74, of Winfield, MD, died on Wed. March 8, 2006, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD. He was born May 10, 1931 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Augustus Wild and the late Marie Wille Wild. He was the husband of Anita M. Wild (nee Simon). He was an Electrical Technician for Westinghouse Co. and MD Science Center. He was in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1954. He was a member of St. Johns R.C. Church in Westminster. He was a member of the K of C. He was the father of Lawrence & Bernadette Wild, Richard Wild, Timothy and Lisa Wild, Virginia and David Hoffman and Thomas and Michelle Wild. Also survived by 9 grandchildren. Funeral Liturgy (MASS) will be held Thursday March 16, 2006 at 11:30 AM at St. Johns R.C. Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, with Fr. Kevin Mueller officiating. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tues. from 7-9 PM and Wed. from 2-4 & 7-9 PM with a rosary service Wed. 7:30 PM.
