Mary M. Shipley
WINFIELD, Md. - Mary "Georgia" Marlowe Shipley of Winfield, formerly of Grasonville, died Saturday, December 6, 1997, in Winfield. She was 82.
Born June 3, 1915, at Rockville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Albert Thompson and Ella Rosalyn Decker Marlowe.
She had been a lifelong member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Irvington, Md.
Mrs. Shipley is survived by two daughters, M. Sandra Anthony of Queenstown and leslie Louise Schroeder of Eldersburg, Md.; a son, Thomas W. Shipley Jr.; one brother, Albert Marlowe Jr. of Towson; one sister, Dorothy Speake of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Deceased are one brother, Blair Lee Marlowe and one sister, Beverly B. Kapraun.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Sykesville. Burial was at Woodlawn cemetery, Woodlawn, Md.
Memorial donations may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 3340 Frederick Avenue, Baltimore, Md. 21229, or Carroll Hospice, 95 Carol Street, Westminster, Md. 21157.

James R. Pinder
CENTREVILLE - James Robert Pinder of Greensboro, formerly of Centreville, died Friday, December 5,1997, at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. He was 44.
Born July 26, 1953, in Easton, he was the son of the late Violet E. Baynard Pinder of Centreville and the late William E. Pinder.
He was a 1972 graduate of Centreville High School. He had been employed as a carpenter and painter in Queen Anne's County, and had worked with his father and with Brittingham Paint and Paper.
He was a member of Bay County Moose Lodge, Centreville Lions Club, and Queen Anne's County men's soccer and softball leagues.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Pinder is survived by a daughter, Catherine Pinder of Dover, Del.; one brother, William E. Pinder Jr. of Rock Hall; one sister, Betty Brittingham of Centreville, and his fianceŽ, Elaine Anthony of Greensboro.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville. Burial was at Chesterfield cemetery.

W. Dale Wright
CORDOVA - W. Dale Wright of Cordova died Friday, December 5, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Easton. She was 77.
Born Nov. 8, 1920 at Weavervile, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Hillard and Ella Garrison Cole.
She attended public school at Weaverville, then was employed at Sales Biltmore Bleacheries in Asheville, N.C.. On March 9, 1946, she married Charles A. Wright. In 1954 the moved to Dundalk, Md. and in 1966 to Edgewood, Md. They moved to Cordova in 1985.
She was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wright is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Anders of Cordova; one son, Terry Wright of LaCross, Wisc.; two sisters, Pauline Mattson of Quincy, Wash. and Made Cole of Weaverville, N.C.; two brothers, Boyd Cole of Huntington, Ore. and Thomas Cole of Asheville, N.C.; and four grandchildren. A daughter, Patricia Ann Cook died Feb. 21, 1989.
Services were held at at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Fairview Church of the Brethren. Burial was at Fairview cemetery, Cordova.
Memorial donations may be made to Fairview Church of the Brethren, 11243 Chapel Road, Cordova, Md. 21625.

Catherine C. Prince
CHESTERT0WN - Catherine Calvert "Kit" Prince of Chestertown died Sunday Dec. 7, 1997 at Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was 78.
Born April 10, 1919 in Morgantown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Hukill an Lila Grubbs Calvert.
While in Morgantown, Mrs. Prince volunteered as a teenager with the civil air patrol and later attended West Virginia University.
In 1950, she married C. E. Prince. Then in 1957, they moved to Chestertown where later they raised a family and owned and operated several movie theatres.
While Mr. Prince died Dec. 25, 1988, Mrs. Prince continued to operate the Chester Movie Theater until 1993.
She attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Chestertown and was a charter and lifetime member of the Soroptomist Club of Kent County and a member and past board member of the National Association of Theater Owners.
Mrs. Prince is survived by four sons, Charles Prince of Chestertown, Patrick Hession of Rock Hall, Michael Hession of Luray, Va. and Peter Prince of Spofford, N.H.; two daughters, Dorsey Leonard of Church Hill and Faith Spear of Chestertown; a sister, Marietta Lewis of Centreville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 10 1997 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chestertown.

Helen G. Savage
ANNAPOLIS - Helen Gertrude Savage, formerly of Grasonville, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997 at Annapolis General Hospital after a lenghthy illness. She was 89.
She was born June 9, 1908 in Onancock, Va. and moved to the Grasonville area in 1961. Once there, she worked various jobs.
In 1978, Ms. Savage joined Robinson's A.M.E. Church and later became a member of the Mamie Bouldin Missionary Society.
Ms. Savage is survived by a niece, Regina Smith of Grasonville; a brother-in-law and cousins, who include Rev. Mary Little. She had one son, Robert, who died.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 at Robinson's A.M.E., Grasonville.

Agnes S. Claggett
EASTON - Agnes Slaughter Claggett of Easton died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997 at Memorial Hospital, Easton. She was 76.
Born in Easton on Aug. 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Eva C. Slaughter.
After graduating from Easton High School in 1938, she became the private secretary for Willard G. Rouse until World War II at which time she became secretary and office manager of the Insurance Agency-AAA office, a post she held for over 30 years, retiring in February 1976. On Oct. 7, 1947 she married Walter W. Claggett, a practicing attorney in Easton for over 50 years.
She was a communicant of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Easton, where in her early life she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Maryland Historical Society, the National Geographic Society and the National A.A.R.P. An avid traveler, she and her husband had made several trips to Europe and toured this country extensively having started their travels by a wedding trip to the historic Le'Chateau Frontenanc, Quebec City, Canada. She enjoyed being a devoted wife, was a "golf duffer" and antique bug" and a "novice designer" with a penchant for hats - summer straws, winter minks, spring felts and fall wool beanies. She stayed fit and stylish.
Mrs. Claggett is survived by a brother, James Mason Slaughter of Easton; a sister, Mrs. Joseph M. Markey of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; a niece; and a nephew.
A Mass for the Dead will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Easton.
Burial will be private at the Historic Society of Friends Meeting cemetery, S. Washington Street, Easton, Md. 21601.
Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Floyd E. Patrick
EASTON - Floyd Edward Patrick of Easton died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 at Genesis-Elder Care-The Pines, Easton. He was 93.
Born in Caroline County on Sept. 11, 1904, he was the son of the late James D. and Emma Cole Patrick.
He attended public school in Caroline County. In 1927 he married the former Helen Perry and they made their home in Easton where he worked as a carpenter for several contractors and retired from the Marion Wood Construction Company of Easton. Mrs. Patrick died in 1981.
He was a life member of the Talbot Rod and Gun Club.
Mr. Patrick is survived by two sons, Claude M. Patrick of Easton and Donald H. Patrick of Dover, Del.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Spring Hill cemetery, Easton.
Memorial donations may be made to Chesapeake Center, P.O. Box 1906, Easton, Md. 21601.
