Helen Pickett Bohr, 89 of Winfield, MD., died Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Hidden Treasures Assisted Living, Westminster, MD. She was the spouse of the late Irvin Monroe Bohr, Sr. She was born March 29, 1917 in Winfield, MD the daughter of the late Edgar E. Pickett and Bertha B. Buckingham Pickett. She was a homemaker, a member of Ebenezer UMC. Charter Member of Winfield Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, Member of the Winfield Owls and a member of over 50 years of the “Winfield Friends”. Surviving are Son Irvin Monroe Bohr, Jr and wife Bettie Jane of Westminster, MD. Daughter Nancy Jane and husband James Ronald Windsor of Winfield. Sister: Kathleen Haight of Winfield. Grandchildren and their spouses: Douglas Neal and Julianna Bohr of Philadelphia, Pa, Jennifer Ellen and Christopher Ruppert of Westminster, Lisa Helen and David McMillan of Baltimore, Lois Kay Windsor and husband Richard Buchanan of Westminster, Great-Grandchildren: Mason and Mable Windsor, David and Elizabeth Buchanan, Daniel McMillan, Kathryn and Michael Ruppert. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, May 30, 2006 11Am at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD. Interment will be in Ebenezer UM Church cemetery, Winfield, MD. The family will receive fiends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7to 9 PM. There will be a Winfield Volunteer Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ebenezer UMC cemetery Fund, 4911 Woodbine Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.

Minor, Sr., Daniel W.
Daniel Willard Minor, Sr., age 79, of Westminster, Died Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD. A native of Baltimore, Mr. Minor was the son of the late William Lee Minor, Sr. and Helen Orden (nee Beall) Minor. He served in the Coast Guard Reserve during World War II and was retired from Local 11 of the Heat and Frost Insulators of Baltimore; He was active in the Good Sam’s Club and had lived many of his retirement years in Florida. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy, surviving are his children Daniel, Jr., Francis, Stephen and Dennis Minor, Sharon Harris, and Sandra Hugg all living in Westminster, Barbara Shealer of Frederick, MD., and Donald Minor of Dover, PA., 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. And his sister Helen Walter of Baltimore. Private Services. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Jones, Earl A.
Earl A. Jones, age 65, of Woodbine, Died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at Howard County General Hospital, Columbia, MD. He was born March 5, 1941, in PA, the son of the late George Jones and the late Pauline Jones (nee Rizzo). He was the father of Thomas Michael Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Joseph George Jones of Woodbine, MD. Brother of Robert Jones of PA, Tommy Jones of Arkansas and Albert Jones of Georgia. Memorial Service Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA. 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School ) with Rev. O.F. “Bud” Kibbe officiating.

Purdum, Mary C.
Mary Catherine Purdum (nee Condon), 80 of Mt. Airy died, Tues May 30, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. She was the spouse of the late Calvin Kelly “Jiggs” Purdum. She was born September 5, 1925 in Woodbine, the daughter of the late Harry Summerville Condon and the late Amelia Catherine Porter Condon. She retired from the Woodbine Postal Service where she was a clerk for 20 years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and a lifelong member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are daughter & son-in-law Sue Ann & Ronald Johnson of Woodbine and son & daughter-in-law Daniel & Virginia Purdum of Glen Burnie. Also survived by grandchildren: Michael Purdum of Glen Burnie, Amy Mullinix of Woodbine, Kevin Johnson of Sykesville and great-grandchildren Caleigh Mullinix and Austin Johnson. Funeral Services will held on Friday June 2, 2006 at 10 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School). Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville. Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. Burdette, Jr., Emory W.
Emory Warfield Burdette, Jr., 86 of Mt. Airy died, Monday May 29, 2006 at Paradise Assisted Living in Catonsville. He was born July 19, 1919 in Howard County, the son of the late Emory W. Burdette, Sr. and the late Susie Layton Burdette. He was a member of the Westminster Moose. Surviving are his five children: Betty L. Keesee & husband Rex of Catonsville, Robert E. Burdette & wife Bonnie of Mt. Grove, MO, Nancy E. Meyers of Hanover, PA, Patsy Kerrigan & husband Jeff of Catonsville, and James R. Burdette & Louise of Mt. Airy. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren and siblings: Laura Browning of Damacus, Betty Reed of Harpers Ferry, WV, Georgette Kelley of Frederick and Jack Burdette of Frederick. Funeral Services will held on Friday June 2, 2006 at 12:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. H. Wallace Webster officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville. Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-9 PM.

Adams, Mary A.
Mary Ann Adams (nee Burgess), 76 of Winfield died Wednesday May 31, 2006 at her home. She was married in Washington D.C. on June 8, 1950 to Sylvester R. “Dutch” Adams who now resides at their home of 18 years in Winfield. She was born August 28, 1929 in Nashville, TN the daughter of the late Robert S. Burgess and the late Hester Ann Dunivant Burgess. Surviving in addition to her husband are son Dr. Robert R. Adams & wife Janice of Cookeville, TN; sister Patricia Mason & husband Lynwood of Melbourne FL; grandchildren: Robert, Jennifer & Laura Holt of Winfield; Douglas, Thomas, Stuart & Genevieve of Cookeville, TN; and Joseph Ignatius III of Sykesville. Also survived by son-in-law Joseph Ignatius, Jr. of Sykesville, brother-in-law Martin Adams and sister-in-law Helen Adams, both of Mooresville, NC. She was preceded in death by siblings: Robert S. Burgess of Albany, NY, Jane Franklin of Mt. Juliet, TN, James T. Burgess of Marshall, VA; children: Linda Joyce Ignatius of Sykesville, and Nancy Adams Holt of Mt. Airy; and grandson Benjamin Ignatius of Sykesville. In 1940, the Burgess family moved from Nashville, TN to Atlanta, GA and moved again in 1944 to Washington, D.C. where her father took the position of Deputy Assistant Postmaster General. Mary Ann is a graduate of Strayer Business College. She entered Federal Service in March 1950 and for 3 years worked at the Department of State. Then she moved to the Library of Congress where she worked in the Office of the Deputy Librarian of Congress for 33 years. During the last ten years of service she held the position of Special Assistant to the Deputy Librarian of Congress. Mary Ann was a very giving and gracious lady; friendly and outgoing, but modest about her many accomplishments. She has had lunch at the White House and dined in a Viennese Palace and has traveled throughout North America and Western Europe. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral Services will held on Saturday June 3, 2006 at 11 AM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4911 Woodbine Road, Sykesville with the Dr. Rev. Gayle Annis-Forder officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Pallbearers will be Robert R. Adams, Robert B. Holt, Martin Adams, Steven Adams, Joseph Ignatius and Joseph Ignatius III. Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Friday from 6-9 PM. Gosnell, H. Kenneth
H. Kenneth Gosnell, 75 of Mt. Airy died Wednesday May 31, 2006 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick. He was born August 24, 1930 in Frederick, the son of the late Alton E. Gosnell and the late Ruth B. Baker Gosnell. He was the spouse of Mary Frances Gosnell. He is survived by daughter & son-in-law - Tamya J. and Matthew Dugan of Swanton, MD; grandchildren – Katherine E. Dugan of Baltimore, M. Bradley Dugan and Brett M. Dugan of Swanton, MD. Also survived by sister & brother-in-law – Betsy E. and Angelo Manalo of Sykesville; sister-in-law & brother-in-law - Barbara J. and Carlton Dixon of Mt. Airy; mother–in-law – Irene P. Hardy of Mt. Airy; 4 nieces and nephews and 5 grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by father-in-law J. Albert Hardy. He retired from Eyre’s Bus Service, Inc. after 30 years of safe driving as a Charter Motor Coach Driver. He was a member of Howard Chapel – Ridgeville UM Church and the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Department. He was a 7 year member of the Damascus Lions Club where he most recently served as the Lion Tamer. He also served on several committees and before that was an active Partner-In-Service. The family will have a Gathering at the Gosnell Home on Saturday June 3, 2006 from 1 to 4 PM with a special memorial at 2 PM. Private Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Damascus Lions Club for the Leader Dogs For the Blind, c/o Lenora Kish, 1105 Merridale Blvd, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

McCabe, Jr. Harold T.
Harold “Happy” Thomas McCabe, Jr., age 49, formerly of Montgomery Village, MD died Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He resided at Edenton Retirement Community, while spending much of the last two years at College View Center in Frederick, MD.
Happy was born on May 20, 1957, in Washington, DC the son of the late Harold McCabe of Reno, NV and the late Mary Louise Hall McCabe of Kensington, MD. Formally employed was a web pressman by the Carroll County Times, The Suburban Record in Silver Spring and Comprint Printing in Gaithersburg, he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Gaithersburg for many years. He leaves behind former wife Pamela McCabe; daughter, Kelly Louise and son, Brian Raymond of Westminster; sister Maureen Young of Orlando, FL; niece Jennifer Young of Silver Spring and longtime companion Carol Shrewsbury of Westminster; along with step mother Maxine McCabe, step sisters Pat McGuire and Mary Kay Cahill and step brothers George and Mike McCabe all of Reno, NV. A 1975 graduate of Einstein High School in Kensington, MD, Happy enjoyed playing darts and shooting pool. He had a deep love for animals and a passion for history, politics and music. A memorial service will be held on June 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road in Winfield, with Pastor Gerald Baker of the World of Life Ministry. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville, immediately following the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Pamela McCabe, PO Box 795, Mount Airy, MD 21771 for the children’s education trust. Leppert, Mildred E.
Mildred “Liz” Elizabeth Leppert (nee Wilhelm), age 80, of Hampstead, formerly of Owings Mills, died Sunday June 4, 2006 at University Hospital Shock Trauma, Baltimore, MD. She was born February 21, 1926 in Baltimore County, Maryland the daughter of the late William F. Wilhelm, Sr. and the late Mary L. Wilhelm (nee Warner). She was a Homemaker. Member at Salem U.M. Church in Hebbville for over 60 years. Life Member of the Liberty Road Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. #521 Owings Mills, MD and Ladies Auxiliary American Legion #122 Owings Mills, MD. Wife of the late William Leppert. Mother of William Denis Leppert and wife Michele of Westminster and Susan L. Littlejohn of Westminster. Sister of William F. Wilhelm, Jr. of Eldersburg, Dale L. Wilhelm of Westminster and the late Helen L. Mentzel and the late Mary Katherine Wilhelm. Loving grandmother of Vaughn and Jill Littlejohn, Todd and Jenifer Leppert, Holly and Vern Yaider, Jeffrey Leppert and the late Timothy Michael Leppert. Also survived by 9 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Dahlke, Eileen Elizabeth
Eileen Elizabeth Dahlke (nee Myers), age 83, of Westminster, died Sunday June 4, 2006 at Brinton Woods Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Winfield, MD. She was born May 4, 1923 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late John Myers and the late Rose Ruth Kimmelshue Myers. She worked for Montgomery Ward in the Sales Dept. She was the wife of the late Kurt H. Dahlke, Sr. She was the mother of Kurt H. Dahlke, Jr. and wife Teresa of Sykesville. Sister of Ruth Kier of Oklahoma, and Donald Myers of Pasadena and the late Catherine Outten and Louise Outten, John and Russell Myers. Also survived by two grandchildren Jason Paul Dahlke and Jennifer Lynn Dahlke both of Sykesville, MD. Friends may call the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Sunday June 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Hajek, Sr., Major James W.
Maj. James Walter Hajek, Sr. Ret., 87 of Milton DE., died Saturday June 10, 2006. He was the former spouse of Audrey Hajek of Holbrook, NY. He was born February 27, 1919 in Rego Park, NY the son of the late James and late Rosie Hajek. He enjoyed collecting Stamps with the Sussex County Stamp Club, Windsurfing, and was a Member of the Polar Bear Plunge Club, Loved the beach and ran a 5k race in his 80’s. He was a Maj. in the US Army before retiring and then served the federal government as a civilian. While in the military he was an Infantry Unit Tank Commander, He served in WWII European Theater, Northern France, The Rhineland, Central Europe, African Mid-Eastern Theater, and Asiatic Pacific Theater. Received the Bronze Star, American Defense Medal and Purple Heart. He also served in Vietnam. Surviving in addition to his former wife are Sons and daughter-in-laws Paul and Lee Hajek of Woodbine, James Jr. and Linda Hajek of Eldersburg, Daughter and Son-in-law Catherine and Jim Thomas of Columbia. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Funeral Services will take place Thursday June 15, 2006 8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Pastor Dr. Ann Boyd of St. Paul ’s Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Arlington National cemetery Friday August 4, 2006. For those attending please be at the cemetery administration office no later than 12:30 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-8 PM. Offutt, Jerome P.
Jerome P. Offutt, 75 of Randallstown, MD, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Levindale in Baltimore. He was born June 27, 1930 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late J. William Offutt and the late Nellie F. Gleason Offutt. Mr. Offutt was retired from Westinghouse, He served in the US Army during the Korean War, He enjoyed gardening, sports cars and watching Wrestling. Surviving him are Sisters: Mildred Rossbach of Randallstown, Ruth Walker of Baltimore, and Louise Reider of Randallstown, Brother William Offutt of Pittsville, God-daughter: Katelyn Davis of Freeland, MD. Numerous Nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Tuesday June 20, 2006 9:00 AM at holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 9533 Liberty Rd, Randallstown, MD 21133. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 on Sunday and Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM.
