Ruth M. Pahl (nee Westgate), age 84, of Sykesville, died Tuesday June 20, 2006, at Copper Ridge in Sykesville, MD. She was born August 21, 1921 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Charles Joseph Westgate and the late Helen Baker Carhart (nee Schaaf), and the late stepfather Frank S. Carhart. She worked for Baltimore County Public Schools for 30 years in the school Cafeteria system. She retired as Manager at Deer Park Middle School. Mrs. Pahl was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Walter C. Pahl, Sr. She is survived by her sons Walter C. Pahl, Jr. his wife Jennifer of Glenrock, PA., Wesley S. Pahl and his wife Patricia of Lake Wales, FL, formerly of Sykesville, MD, and daughter Sharon Lee Pahl of Sykesville, MD. Dear sister of—Robert Carhart, Pat Wolf and Marsha Wise and the late Phyllis O’Brien. Loving grandmother of James Pahl, Wendy Benz, and Elizabeth Bedell. Also survived by one great granddaughter Emilyn Bedell. Funeral Service will be Friday June 23, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Pastor Wayne Larson Chaplain of Copper Ridge in Sykesville officiating. Interment Lorraine Park cemetery, Woodlawn, MD. Sauble, Eulalia D.
Eulalia Dora Sauble (nee Shipley), age 85, of Mt. Airy, died Saturday June 24, 2006 at Hidden Treasures in Westminster. She was born July 20, 1920 in Gist, MD the daughter of the late Jessie Shipley and the late Henrietta Linton Shipley. She was a Seamstress for over 40 years. She was a member of Westminster Ladies Columbus Lodge and active in the Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was the wife of the late Wesley Sauble. She was the mother of Wesley T. Sauble of Delaware and the late Janet Gaines. Also survived by 6 grandchildren; Kim and Dave Novakowski, Audra Jones, Terry Gaines, Scott Gaines, Billy Gaines and Mary Lynn Osborn and 2 great grandsons. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday June 27, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. O. Harrison, Marvin M.
Marvin Meredith Harrison, age 79, of Woodbine, died Sunday June 25, 2006 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was born February 9, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late George Walter Harrison and Margaret Della Hall Harrison. He was the husband of Catherine Harrison (nee Welsh), to whom he was married for 47 years. Mr. Harrison retired from Howard W. Clark, Inc. trucking company where he worked for 39 years and Westminster National Bank where he worked several years as a courier. He was a member of Local 639 Teamsters Union. He served as a corporal in the United States Army during WW II. Surviving in addition to his wife are five children: Jon Harrison and wife Sandy of Mt. Airy, Darryl Harrison and wife Cindy of Woodbine, Tim Harrison of Woodbine, Shelley Munger and husband Michael of Front Royal, VA, and George Harrison of Woodbine. He is also survived by grandchildren: Nick Harrison, Ben Harrison, Brittany Harrison, Dustin Harrison, Garrett Harrison, Amber Munger; step granddaughter Christina Munger and one brother Kenny Harrison of Woodbine. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter Harrison, Allen Harrison, Calvin Harrison, Leroy Harrison and Paul Harrison. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday June 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory. PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School ) with Rev. Roger Rinker of Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Interment in Poplar Springs cemetery, Woodbine. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM.

Payne, Dorothy V.
Dorothy Virginia Payne (nee Failing), age 98, of Westminster, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center, Westminster. She was born January 31, 1908 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Harry P. Failing and the late Jenny Brown Failing. She was the wife of the late Alfred Heacock who died in November1943 in WWII and the late Charles Payne died February 1994. She was a Dictaphone Operator for Montgomery Wards and Baltimore Sales Book. She was very active in her church Dickey Memorial Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, 60 plus years. Survived by daughter and son in law Ellen L. Sause and Rev. Donald Sause, granddaughter Karen Sause all of LaVale, MD and one niece Dorothy M. Kirk of Woodbine, a nephew John C. Connolly of Norfolk, VA. Predeceased by 2 brothers Harry C. Failing and William S. Failing, 2 sisters Grace A. Failing and Louise M. Connolly. Sue M. Ledbetter (nee Slade), age 82, of Jarrettsville, MD, died Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born May 19, 1924 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Ralph Franklin Slade and the late Gency Mae McCrady Slade. She was a homemaker. She was the wife of the late Rev. Richard L. Ledbetter. She was the mother of Julia Horton of NC, Wanda Berman of PA, Richard Ames-Ledbetter of Towson, MD and the late Arleta Reynolds. She was the sister of James Slade of Jarrettsville, William Slade of Oregon, Carroll Slade of Jarrettsville and the late Patricia Holt. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 11:30 AM at North Harford Baptist Church, 4008 Old Federal Hill Road, Jarrettsville, MD 21084, with the Rev. Robert H. Gerstmyer officiating. Lawson, Darlene M.
Darlene Marie Lawson (nee Rizzo), age 52, of Libertytown, died Sunday June 25, 2006 at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy. She was born June 19, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA the daughter of the late Carl Rizzo and the late Maxine Rizzo. She was a Book Keeper for Mel-Jule. She was the devoted mother of Sal Costantino, and survived by two sisters Maxine Tribby and Carla Kelsey and on nephew and one niece and three great nieces and nephew and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday June 29, 2006 from 11:30-1:30 PM at which time funeral service will begin at 1:30 PM at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Monroe of Mt. Olive U.M. Church in Mt. Airy officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery in Mt. Airy. Gosnell, Leona G.
Leona Grace Gosnell (nee Shaffer), age 81, of Sykesville, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at her daughter's home. She was born May 9, 1925 in Hagerstown, MD the daughter of the late Adam Shaffer and the late Nellie Mae Cowan Shaffer. She was the wife of Roland W. Gosnell for 64 years. She was a homemaker. She was the mother of Roland Ernest Gosnell of Anderson, S.C., Robert William Gosnell of Sykesville, and Leona Lynn Ellenberger of Sykesville; Loving grandmother of Kelli Lynn Crisfulli of Reisterstown whom she raised and also survived by another granddaughter and 1 grandson and 1 great grandson. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2006, at 7:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Pearre, Emily E.
Emily Elizabeth Pearre (nee Shoemaker), age 83 of Woodbine, died Wednesday June 28, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. She was born March 21, 1923 in Woodbine, Carroll County, Maryland, the daughter of the late Daniel Harrison Shoemaker and the late Nannie Belle Gosnell Shoemaker. She was a life long member of Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department. She was the wife of the late James Aubrey Pearre. She was the mother of Ronald A. Pearre of Hanover, PA and the late Joyce Ann Pearre Lowery. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Monday July 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Orin W. Schaufele, Marilyn Eileen
Mrs. Marilyn Eileen Schaufele, 39 of New Windsor, MD, died Suddenly Thursday June 29, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. She was the spouse of Hank Schaufele of New Windsor. She was born November 18, 1966 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of Edgar Samuel Cowley and the late Barbara Gertrude Newton Cowley. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving in addition to her spouse and father are her Children: Stephanie, Jacqueline, Ryan and John Schaufele, all of New Windsor., Brother: David Edward Cowley of Zephyrhills, FL and Brother: Edgar S. Cowley, JR. of Ocean City, MD, Sister: Alice Cowley of Lakeland, FL. She is also preceded in death by brother; Charles Cowley and Half-brother: William Baker. Ruby E. Esworthy (nee Ellis), age 71, of Lisbon died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD. She was born October 2, 1934 in North Carolina the daughter of the late Leon W. Ellis and the late Emma Jane Ellis (nee Batten). She was a Retired Occupational Therapist Associate for Springfield State Hospital in Sykesville for 31 years. She enjoyed ceramics, dolls and helping other people. She was the wife of the late Robert Lee “Boze” Esworthy, Jr. who died on February 6, 1998. She was the mother of Thomas R. Esworthy & wife Frances of Lisbon, Rena Gayle Russell & husband Frank of Ellicott City and Joyce F. Kubu and husband Kenneth of Damascus. She was the sister of William Ellis of Dunn, North Carolina, Joyce Harrelson of Whiteville, NC, Jack Ellis of Whiteville, North Carolina and the late Martha Boren. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and mother in law Hazel M. Esworthy of Lisbon. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 4:00 PM at Mt. Carpenter, Sr., Raymond A.
Dr. Raymond Allison Carpenter, Sr. Phd., 85 of Gamber formerly of Mt. Airy, MD died Friday July 21, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD. He was the spouse of 57 years to Edna Burkhart Carpenter of Gamber. He was born July 12, 1921 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He worked over 40 years for the federal government at The Atomic Energy Commission and the Department of Energy. Mr. Carpenter was a former member of Calvary UMC in Mt. Airy where he taught 6th grade Sunday school. He is now a member of Westminster United Methodist Church. He enjoys making Stained Glass and Traveling and his family is very important to him. He is a member of numerous fraternities; PHI KAPPA PHI, TAU BETA PI, SIGMA XI, PHI ETA SIGMA. He served in the US Army during WWII. Dr. Carpenter also has lived in Knoxville, TN, and Santa Monica, CA. He has a B.S., M.S., and PHD from The University of Tennessee in Physics. Surviving in addition to his spouse are Daughter: Sharon Carpenter of Westminster, Daughter and Son-in-law Suzette and Dwight Dotterer of Johnsville, MD, Son and Fiance : Raymond Carpenter, Jr. and Dorothy Bullock of Finksburg, Grandson and Fiance: Daniel Carpenter and Amanda Petro, Grandsons: James and Thomas Carpenter. Also survived by nephews and nieces. Special friends: Tina Schofield Connie and Phil Duto. Preceded in death by Son: Albert Carpenter, Sister: Peggy Patton, Sister: Ann Moody and Brother :Rodney Jennings. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday July 23, 2006 5 Pm at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with Rev. Charles Wolfe of Westminster UMC officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Woodlawn cemetery, Knoxville, TN. Brown, Sr. of Taylorsville. She was the mother of Robert C. Brown, Jr. of PA and John M. Brown of Taneytown. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Private Services.

Robert E. Jones, 51 of Westminster, MD, died Sunday August 6, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 12, 2006 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 Am until time of Service.
