Gregory J. Hayden, age 84, of Frederick, died Friday November 17, 2006 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD. He was born October 10, 1922 in St. Mary’s County, Maryland the son of the late Charles Hayden and the late Jessie Hayden (nee Martin). He was a member of the American Legion Post #11 in Frederick and China Burma India (CBI) in Baltimore. He served during WWII in the Army. He worked for the Board of Elections. He was the husband of Margaret Ann Hayden (nee Donahue). He was the father of Carol Turner and Michael Bresnahan. Also survived by 2 sisters, 5 grandsons and 10 great grandchildren. Memorial Service will be Tuesday November 28, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Grace Episcopal Church 6 E. Main Street New Market, MD. Private Inurnment. Memorial Contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Spicer, Jarrod L.
Jarrod Louis “Buzz” Spicer, age 26, of Woodbine, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at his home. He was born on August 24, 1980 in Montgomery County, MD the son of William Louis Spicer and Phyllis Evonne Spicer (nee Wheeler) of Woodbine. He was a 1998 South Carroll High School graduated. He was the Owner of JL Spicer Excavation, CO-Owner of Central Maryland Trucking and Foreman for Excavation Site Development for Locust Lane Farms, Inc. Jarrod was loved and will be missed by many friends and family. Jarrod Enjoyed riding his Harley. Surviving in addition to his parents are Brothers Gary Lee Spicer of Crofton, MD and Keith Spicer of Marietta, GA and Sister Tara Bartolain of Sykesville, MD. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, 1391 Sykesville Road, Sykesville with the Pastor Mark Massey officiating. Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. McGrew, Nelson D.
Nelson Douglas McGrew, 68 of Westminster formerly of Dundalk, died Monday December 4, 2006 at Carroll Hospital Center. He was the spouse of Elizabeth Ann Madzarac McGrew. He was born July 28, 1938 in Wheeling, WV. The son of the late Nelson Clarence and late Bonnie F. Hill McGrew. Mr. McGrew was a retired Sgt. In the Baltimore County police Department. He was a member of F.O. P Lodge #4 was a veteran of the Air National Guard and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are Daughter: Donna Lynn of Dundalk and Son: William McGrew of Dundalk. Grandchildren; Justin, Evan and Alexis, Daughter-in-law: Jennifer McGrew, Sister-in-laws: Peggy Ball and Paula Keen. Brother-in-law: William Madzarac and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2006 11 AM at Faith Family Church, 4150 Sykesville Rd. Finksburg, MD 21048 with the Rev. Paul Andrews officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Family Church or to Carroll County Hospital Foundation, 200 Memorial Ave, Westminster, MD 21157.

Deickman, Jr., Charles B.
Charles Benjamin Deickman, Jr., 84 of Eldersburg, MD formerly of Crisfield, MD, died, Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at his home in Eldersburg, MD. He was the spouse of Ida Ruth Deickman. Mr. Deickman was born February 17, 1922 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Charles Benjamin Deickman, Sr. and the late Irene Baker Deickman. Mr. Deickman was a retired bread salesman for Schmidt Baking Company. He served in the US. Navy during WWII and was a member of Palestine Lodge #189 A.F. & A. M. Catonsville, MD. Surviving him in addition to his wife are Daughter and son-in-law; Charlotte and Jack Ellard of Sykesville, Daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Albert Barthlow of Hampstead, Sister: Shirley Marr of Catonsville, Brother and Sister-in-law: Earl and Lillian Deickman of Deltona, FL. Grandchildren: Scott, Todd and Dawn. Great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Samantha, Brandon and Zachary and Hunter. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, December 9, 2006 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with Chaplain David Bare of Carroll Hospice officiating. Interment will be in Loudon Park cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Those desiring may make contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, Central MD Chapter, 1850 York Rd. Suite D. Timonium, MD 21093.

Faidley, Leon C.
Leon Carter Faidley, 64 of Westminster Formerly of Grantsville, MD, died Friday December 8, 2006 at his home in Westminster, MD. He was born March 16, 1942 in Jennings, MD the son of the late Carl and Audra Elizabeth Meyers Faidley. He was a custom applicator for Meyers Liquid Fertilizer; He worked for White’s Turf Farm, Elbow’s as a Dump Truck Driver and for the Harrison ’s on their farms. He was a volunteer for West End Place and was inducted into the Senior Citizen Hall of Fame. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens Fan and was a member of the Ravens Roost Chapter at Western MD College. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Jennings, MD and an honorary member of Union St. Methodist Church, Westminster, MD. He was a hunter and fisherman and enjoyed snowmobiling and doing puzzles. Surviving him are: Daughter and son-in-law Jean and Steve Burriss of Mt. Airy, Son and Daughter-in-law David “ Baldy” Faidley, Jr and Scarlet Faidley. of New Windsor, Son and Daughter-in-law Stacy and Dorian Faidley of Cape Coral, FL, Daughter and Son-in-law Kelly and Eric Crumbacker of Great Cacapon, WV, 13 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brother: David Wayne Faidley. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 10, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Rhoderick, Jr., Charles W.
Charles W. Rhoderick, Jr. age 85, of Mt. Airy, MD died Tuesday December 12, 2006 at his home. He was born Frederick County, Maryland the son of the late Charles W. Rhoderick, Sr. and the late Erma Virginia Rhoderick (nee Wachter). He was a Self-employed dairyman. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for 36 years and Director for 11 years. He was a Director of Sire Power and S.S. Coop, and a member of 410 Grange, and a council member of Rocky Hill Church, Former Member of Dairyman’s Association Milk Coop. and a member of Frederick County & National Holstein Association. Loving Husband of Evelyn “Jenny” Rhoderick married for 51 years. Devoted father of Edward W. Rhoderick of Mt. Airy, Deborah M. & Bob Bofinger of New Market and Wayne E. and Cindy Rhoderick of Mt. Airy. Brother of Dorothy Harbaugh of Woodsboro, Betty Putman of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Lucille Murphy of Ijamsville, Arthur Rhoderick of Hagerstown, Ruth Kuhn of Middletown and Paul Rhoderick of Middletown and the late Helen Frey and the late Harry Rhoderick. Loving grandfather of Kevin, Kyle, Olivia Rhoderick, Sarah, Rebekah and Hannah Bofinger and Malorie, Curtis and T. Nathan Rhoderick. Funeral Service will be held Monday December 18, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Church Coppermine Road, Woodsboro with the Rev. Beverly Stang, Chaplain of Homewood and the Rev. Conaway, Elsie A.
Elsie Amanda Conaway (nee Porter), age 89, of Woodbine, MD, died Wednesday December 13, 2006 at her sister’s home in Westminster. She was born July 14, 1917 in Woodbine, MD the daughter of the late Ollie and Mamie Porter (nee Green). She was the wife of the late Brice W. Conaway who passed away on June 16, 1989. She is survived by sisters Dollie Barnhart of Westminster and Myra Davis and Erma J. Gartrell of Woodbine. Predeceased by sisters Ruby Justice, Irene Gue, Margaret Bennett, and Brothers Carroll Porter and Andrew Porter. She did house cleaning for people, sewing for people and she loved her violets. Funeral Service will be held Saturday December 16, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with Pastor David Bare Chaplain of Carroll Hospice, Inc. officiating. Interment Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Woodbine and Bethel Road, Woodbine, MD. Pallbearers will be Roland Barnhart, Ralph Barnhart, Ronnie Barnhart, Billy Pearson, Roger Conaway and Michael Arentz. Moore, Jean D.
Jean Dolores Moore, 70 of Woodbine, MD, died Saturday December 16, 2006 at home in Woodbine, MD. She was the spouse of the late Ronald Francis Moore. She was born January 9, 1936 at home in Damascus, MD. She was the daughter of the late Calvin and Etta Magers Gartrell. She was a homemaker. She loved to play Bingo, and going on Bus Trips and loved Animals. Surviving her are Daughter and Son-in-law: B. Roxanne and Kenneth Cross of Centerville, MD Daughter and Son-in-law Rhonda and John Atha of Westminster, Son and Daughter-in-law Garry and Elaine Moore of Taneytown and Son: Bruce A. Moore of Woodbine, Brother Greg Gartrell of FL. Sister: Lisa Lewis of Brunswick Sister: Ruth Naill of Mt. Airy. Grandchildren: Kelly, Jason, Lindsay, Shannon, Kari, Ryan, Wayne, Danielle, Great-grandchildren: Amber, William, Jaylin, Gage, Ridge, Kayanna, Leia. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Dearden, Jean J.
Jean J. Dearden (nee Jackson ), age 72, of Randallstown, died Sunday December 17, 2006 at University of MD Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She was born in Abingdon, VA on October 19, 1934 the daughter of the late Harry G. Jackson and the late Anna Edith Jackson (nee Hitchon). She was the wife of Oliver “Ollie” B. Dearden of Randallstown married for 53 years. She was a bookkeeper for a Sales Company. Her love for travel began in her late teens, she was an avid reader, and also enjoyed the British Royal Family. She was the mother of Susan L. Dearden who resides in Baltimore with partner Linda Thoman and predeceased by son Andrew E. Dearden formerly of Sykesville where Widow A. Christine Dearden still resides. Devoted grandmother of Laura Bloom of Westminster, Scott Dearden of Pensacola, Florida, and Brian Dearden of Sykesville. Cherished sister of Margaret Metz of Bel Air and Richard Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio. Friends and family are invited to visit at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Glyder, Jennie V.
Jennie Virginia Blank Glyder, 94 of Baltimore, died Friday December 29, 2006 at Continuum Care in Sykesville. She was the spouse of the late Frank Glyder. Mrs. Glyder was born May 5, 1912 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Andrew and Edith Young Blank. She was employed many years with Baltimore City Schools. She was an active member of the John Booth Senior Center before moving to Carroll County where she then Volunteered and participated in activities at the South Carroll Senior Center. Surviving her are Son and Daughter-in-law William E and Linda Dorsey of Sykesville. Grandmother of Michele Lynn Dorsey, Erik Scott and wife Laura Dorsey and Ryan Carl Dorsey. Great-grandchildren: Olivia Elizabeth and Rowan Patrick Dorsey. The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Wednesday January 3, 2006 from 6 to 9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd, Winfield, MD 21784 where funeral services will be held Thursday January 4, 2006 10 AM with the Rev. O.F. “ Bud” Kibbe officiating. Interment Woodlawn cemetery. Brown, Sr., Robert C.
Robert C. Brown, Sr., 82 of Taylorsville, MD, died January 3, 2007 at Carroll Hospital Center. He was the spouse of the late Gladys Tegler Brown. He was born August 28, 1924 in New Windsor, MD. The son of the late Duvall Brown and the late Margaret Smelser Neilson. He was the maintenance Supervisor for London Fog. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII. He was the past Master of Sharon Lodge # 182 A.F. and A.M. Surviving are Sons: Robert C. Brown, Jr. of New Oxford, PA and John M. Brown of Taneytown, MD, Brother: Gerald S. Brown of South Bend, Indiana. 4 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Services are Private.

Dorsey, Martha J.
Mrs. Martha Jane Anderson Dorsey, 87 of Mt. Airy, MD, was called home to rest of January 3, 2007 at home in Mt. Airy. Born September 10, 1919 in Mount Airy, MD she was the daughter of the late Charles and Laura Potts Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dorsey in 1992, son Welton “Sonny” Dorsey in 2001 and daughter Rose Lee Browner in 2004 and al of her brothers and sisters. Martha was a life long member of Warren United Methodist Church in Mount Airy. Many people will remember her for the many years she worked in nursing home care. Her greatest enjoyments included raising her children and creating Arts and Crafts, especially, crocheting. Surviving her are four grandchildren: Harry Browner and wife, Pratha of Pittsburgh, PA Harold and wife Tamela Huggins of Glen Burnie, MD Toni Nottingham of Germantown and Loryn Dorsey of Mt. Airy, MD, a devoted daughter-in-law, Darlene King-Dorsey, Six great-grandchildren: Cory L. Browner, Dontell Browner, Lekeyshia Browner, Breona Browner, Tasheika Dorsey and Cassidy Nottingham and devoted friends Estelle Saunders and Hilda Johnson. She also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 12 Noon at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. Sharon Gibson of Warren United Methodist Church officiating and Rev. Edward A. Conaway assisting. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Taylorsville, MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 until time of service at 112 Noon.
