He was born December 30, 1939 in Yonkers, New York, the son of Roy Smith Ashley of Woodbine, and the late Daisy Marie Ashley (nee Roten). He was a Shipping Clerk for Arundel Corp.-Greenspring Quarry. He was a member of Teamsters Local #311 for many years. He contributes to the Boy Scouts of America Winfield Troop #733. He was the husband of Lauretta Ann Ashley (nee Hurley) married on August 2, 1958. He was the father of Theresa A. Tracey of Libertytown, and Todd Ashley of Woodbine. Brother of Darlene Franklin. Also survived by two grandsons, three granddaughters, one niece, 3 nephews, 2 grand nieces and 1 grand nephew and numerous aunts and uncles. Funeral Service will be Monday April 9, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Arthur Monroe of Morgan Chapel U.M. Church in Woodbine officiating. Interment Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Arnold, Sr., Charles G.
Charles G. R. Arnold, Sr. 88 of New Windsor, MD, passed away Friday April 6, 2007 after an extended illness. Mr. Arnold was born August 6, 1918 in Toronto, Canada. He was the husband of Jeanne Arnold. He was the son of late George Washington Arnold and late Meta Ulrich Arnold. He became a United States Citizen in April of 1943. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and received the Purple Heart. He was a self employed business man in Howard County, MD for over 35 years. Mr. Arnold was the owner operator of B&A Amoco on Route 40 for 25 years, then Arnold Laundromat at the same location for over 10 years. Mr. Arnold was fortunate to have enjoyed more than 30 years of retirement with his wife, family and many friends in Maryland and Florida. Mr. Arnold is Survived by wife of 66 years Helen M. Buell Arnold. Children: Rose Lee Watcher and husband George of Frederick County, MD, Charles G. R. Arnold, Jr. and wife of Ellicott City, MD and Donna M. Reed and husband John of Laurel, Delaware, 12 Grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 on Monday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and Tuesday April 10, from 9 to 11 AM. Dixon Richard M.
Richard Melvin Dixon, 75 of Taylorsville, MD, died Saturday April 7, 2007 at Sinai Hospital. He was the spouse of Elizabeth Williams Dixon. Mr. Dixon was born March 7, 1932 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late William T. Dixon and late Marie Christina Deluca Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a retired Truck driver for Coca-Cola for over 31 years. He drove a School Bus for Devilbis Bus Company. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Dixon was on the Board of Directors of Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club and also there Program Chairman. He was a long time member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where he was a greeter and usher. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, Bird watching and building things for loved ones. He also received a Safety Award for being an excellent driver. Surviving in addition to his wife are Grandchildren: Christy Simonds and Brian Merryman, Great-granddaughter: Trinity Simonds, Sister and Brother-in-law Judy and Jack Bright. Son and Daughter-in-law: Mark and Tammy Long, Daughter and Fiancé Anne Marie Williams and Harry Evans. Son: Scott Long. Grandchildren: Maryelizabeth Williams, Michael Ednum Williams, Jr. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter: Virginia Merryman. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 1:00 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4911 Woodbine Rd. Sykesville, MD 21784. Inurnment Private. The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 on Tuesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. The Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club 1760 W. Old Liberty Rd. Sykesville, MD 21784.

Hetrick, Kenneth E.
Kenneth E. Hetrick, 87 of Frederick, formerly of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away on Easter Sunday April 8, 2007 after a lengthily illness. He was the husband of Margie L. Miller Hetrick to whom he was married to for 66 years. He was born April 7, 1920 in Garrett County, Bittinger, MD, the son of Harvey C. Hetrick and Ruth Brenneman Hetrick. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Park and Donald Hetrick. Mr. Hetrick served in The US Army during WWII and fought at the Battle of the Bulge where he was seriously wounded; receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Gold Star Post 191, Mt. Airy, MD. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family, to which he was so devoted and watching his sons and grandsons play baseball. He loved music, especially fiddling, and played the guitar and harmonica. He also loved wood working, especially making birdhouses and feeders. He was also a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, where he and his wife served as Deacons. He was retired after 20 years as a Supervisor of Garrett County Roads Department, he moved to Mt. Airy and started working at the National Bureau of Standards (NIST) where he was a Federal Police Officer serving as Lieutenant, retiring from there after 21 years. He then started working at the Mt. Airy Weis Market as “ The Breadman” for 14 years until his health required him to retire. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, K. Gene and wife Elaine Hetrick of Preston, MD. Larry R. and wife Brenda Hetrick of Mt. Airy and David A and his wife Tami Hetrick of Rohrersville, MD and One Daughter: Debra K. and Husband Eric of Frederick Six Grandsons will serve as Pall Bearers: Carroll G. of, Ricky A., Brian S. Hetrick all of Preston, MD, Dennis J. Hetrick of Frederick, Michael D. Hetrick of Rohersville and Nicholas L. Hetrick of Manchester, MD and 2 Great-grandchildren: Jamie L. Hetrick of Preston, MD Dylan J. Hetrick of Frederick, MD. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 12, 2007 11:00 AM at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771 with Pastor Wayne Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM with an American Legion Memorial Service at 7:30 PM.

Sparrow, Vaughn B.
Vaughn Brooks Sparrow 88 of Randallstown formerly of VA, died on Thursday April 12, 2007. Beloved husband of Phyllis Jean Sparrow (nee Coleman). Born May 12, 1918 in Onancocke, VA the son of late Colie E. and Louella Rew Sparrow. He served in The US Army during WWII. He was a train Dispatcher for 38 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was also a part time employee for numerous years at Loring Byers Funeral Directors, Inc.. Mr. Sparrow was a former member and Deacon of Colonial Baptist Church and a current member and Deacon of Reisterstown Baptist Church. Devoted father of Brooks and wife Sandy Sparrow of Winfield, Sandy and husband Art Mather of Wachapreague, VA, Warren and wife Rae Anne Sparrow of Westminster, Vaughn C and wife Christine Sparrow of Dundalk. Loving Grandfather of Brian and wife Sandy Mather, Dana and husband Julio Varela, David Sparrow, Adam and wife Alex Sparrow, Kyle Sparrow, Margaret Sparrow and Austin Sparrow. Reaver, Franklin R.
Franklin R. Reaver, age 74, of Randallstown, died Monday April 23, 2007 at his home. He was born in Libertytown, MD on December 10, 1932 the son of the late Russell R. Reaver and the late Evelyn L. Reaver (nee Schellar). He was the husband of the late Shirley Mae Reaver (nee Carr). He was an Overhead Lineman for BGE. He was the father of Deborah Louise Pobletts of Owings Mills, Karen Lee Rivera of Eldersburg, Linda Lou Aponte of Randallstown, Teresa Lynn Clatterbuck of Westminster, and Greg Leonard Reaver of Parkville. Brother of Stanley Reaver of Hampstead, Betty Stephens of Union Bridge, and Wayne Reaver of Libertytown. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sweigart, Corey
Corey Sweigart, 52 of Lebanon, PA, died Monday April 23, 2007 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was the spouse of Jayne Anne Sweigart of Lebanon, PA. Mr. Sweigart was born January 19, 1955 in Lebanon, PA the son of the late Carl and Catherine Beck Sweigart. Mr. Sweigart was a Drug and Alcohol Program Representative Supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Mr. Sweigart also received a BS Degree from Lebanon Valley College. Surviving in addition to his wife are Sons: Robert Fourman, Ben Sweigart and Ned Sweigart all of Lebanon, PA. Loving Sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Russell Bonawitz of Pine Grove, PA. Emory Worth White, Jr., age 74 of Westminster, died Tuesday April 24, 2007 at the Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was born February 19, 1933 in Wilmington, N.C. the son of the late Emory W. White, Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth White (nee Brady). He was a Miller for Washington Flour Company in Ellicott City, MD and a member of the Hackers Golf Club. He was the husband of Claudia L. White. He was the father of Elizabeth Werrell and husband John of Finksburg. He was stepfather of David and Billy Bledsoe of Westminster. Brother of the late John Payton White. Loving grandfather of Katie Werrell and step-grandfather of Heather and Jason Bledsoe. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren; Andrew, Austin, Erin and good friends John and Joan Schumacher and by many friends from the Hacker Golf Club. He served during WWII in the Army as a Drill Sergeant He was a former member of Gamber Fire Co. Auxiliary. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smallwood. He was the husband of the late Anna Louise Wertz (nee Murray ). He was the father of Barbara L. Warner and husband Dan of Woodbine and Carolyn M. Buckley and husband Robert of New Windsor. He was the brother of the late Donald E. and Late Kenneth L. Wertz. Also survived by 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter and 1 great granddaughter and 1 great grandson. Tieman and the late Dorothy Lurene Tieman (nee Rowe). He was a Logistician for Northrop Grumman. He loved all types of sports and he was a 1962 graduate from Catonsville High School. He was the husband of Linda L. Tieman (nee Lewis). He was the father of Tricia L. Krouse of Fredericksburg, VA and Christopher R. Tieman of Frederick, MD. He was the brother of Dorene Booth of Catonsville and the late Deanna Ketterman and late Darryl Tieman. He was the grandfather of Taylor Krouse. He enjoyed Fly Fishing and his family. He was the husband of Rose Marie Riggs (nee DeVaney). He was the father of Brooke Alexis and Bailey Ann Riggs. He was the brother of Amy Riggs Wimmer and her husband Dr. Mark Wimmer of Salisbury, NC. Uncle of Alexander Riggs Wimmer and Arielle Marion Wimmer. Also survived by several Aunts and Uncles. Sticher, Jr. Grandmother of Nicole, Kristen and Greg Wroton Jr. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
