She was born in Baltimore, MD on August 6, 1926 the daughter of the late Samuel Maranto and the late Sarah Citrano Maranto. She was a Homemaker. She was a member of Holy Family R.C. Church in Randallstown. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, knitting, crochet and needle point. She was the wife of the late Richard L. Johe. She was the mother of Gary L. Johe of Hanover, PA and Kathleen A. Bartholow of Sykesville. Aso survived by son-in-law and care giver David A. Bartholow. Sister of- Nicolette Jessop of Catonsville. Also survived by brother in law Fred Jessop. Grandmother of Jennifer, Shannon, Mylinda, Chris and Tommy. Also survived by Great granddaughters Taylor and Brianne. Predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters. Funeral Liturgy (MASS) will be held Monday August 27, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family R.C. Church 9533 Liberty Road, Randallstown, with the Fr. Walter McGovern officiating. Interment Lake View Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Van Dyke, Eugene C.
Eugene Curtis Van Dyke, 70 of Cross Keys Village, the Brethren Home Community formerly of Sykesville, MD Died. Thursday August 30, 2007 at Cross Keys Village. He was the spouse of Dorothy A. Ashman Van Dyke of Dover, PA. He was born March 22, 1937 in Catonsville, MD the son of the late William E Van Dyke, Sr. and late Elsie M Wiggins Van Dyke. He was a self Employed electronics and TV Repairman for Eagle TV and later a manager of Liberty TV. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he was a Paratrooper and Radio Specialist. He was a former member of the Reisterstown Moose and a Private Pilot., he Built Radio controlled Airplanes and played Tenor Sax and Sang in a band in his younger years. Surviving him in addition to his wife are Daughter: Julie E. Steeper of Dover, PA, Son: John M. Van Dyke and wife Kim of Crownsville, MD and 2 Granddaughters. A memorial service will take place Sunday September 2, 2007 3 :00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with Rev. Jimmie Schwartz officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way Suite 908 Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Buswell, Herman S.
Herman Stewart Buswell, age 71, of Mt. Airy, died Friday August 31, 2007 at his home. He was born February 17, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Herman Stores Buswell and the late Anna Garver Buswell. He was a retired engineer for the Department of Navy for 44 years. He was a member of the Mt. Airy American Legion Gold Post 191. He survived in the US Navy from 1955-1959. He was the beloved husband of Carol Buswell of Mt. Airy for 45 years. Devoted Father of Aimee Buswell of Mt. Airy, Kieth Buswell & wife Dana of Mt. Airy, Lisa Grotte and husband Palmer of Mt. Airy and Daniel Buswell of Frederick, MD. Loving grandfather of Derek Ward and fiancée Tiffany Harrison, Casey Grotte, Carey Grotte, Paige Grotte, Josh Buswell, Kirstyn Buswell, Logan Buswell, Justin Grotte, Benjamin Grotte, and Amanda Grotte. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday September 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Dr. Paul A. Hill officiating. Interment Prospect U.M. Church cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mt. Airy American Legion Post 191 Service Tuesday evening. Shaffer, Carl E.
Carl Edward Shaffer, age 85, of Taylorsville, MD died Saturday September 1, 2007 at Lorien Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Airy, MD. He was born May 22, 1922, in York, PA ; he was the son of the late Karl A. and Pauline Shaffer. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline Elaine Markel Shaffer, his wife of more than 40 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School of Finance. He was employed by Thiokal Corporation in Elkton, MD for over 30 years in their aerospace components division. He was a member of the American Legion Mt. Airy Gold Post #191. He lived with his son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Shaffer, for almost twenty years. An avid gardener, he spent countless hours improving and maintaining the family property in Taylorsville, MD. He also enjoyed professional sports and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving him are his sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Charlie Witmer of York, PA and brother Barry Shaffer in Tennessee, his son and daughter-in-law David and Susan and grandchildren Skyler, Briana and Shelby. He was predeceased by his wife Jackie, and sister Jean Little. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday September 5, 2007 at 6:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Pastor Roger Rinker of Calvary Lutheran Church in Mt. Airy officiating. Graveside funeral service will be held Thursday September 6, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Shaffer’s Union cemetery, Codorus Township, Seven Valleys, PA. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home Crematory, PA on Wednesday September 5, 2007. Memorial contributions can be made to your favorite charity.

Phyllis Jean Sparrow (nee Coleman), age 79, of Randallstown, formerly of Kentucky, died Wednesday September 5, 2007 at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown. She was born September 29, 1927 in Regina, Kentucky the daughter of the late William Coleman and the late Ada Melster Rasnick Coleman. She was a hairdresser and cosmetologist. She was a member of Reisterstown Baptist Church and former member of Colonial Baptist Church in Pikesville. She was an avid crocheter. She was the wife of the late Vaughn Brooks Sparrow. Devoted Mother of Brooks and wife Sandy Sparrow of Winfield, Sandy and Husband Art Mather of Wachapreague, VA, Warren and wife Rae Anne Sparrow of Westminster, Vaughn C. and wife Christine Sparrow of Dundalk. Grandmother of Brian and wife Sandy Mather, Dana and husband Julio Varela, David Sparrow, Adam and wife Alex Sparrow, Kyle Sparrow, Margaret Sparrow and Austin Sparrow. Dearest great grandmother of Natalie Hope and Nicholas Varela, Ross and Erick Mather. Seymour, Diane E.
Diane Elizabeth Seymour, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Thursday September 6, 2007 at the age of 56 at her home. Born in Cambridge, Maryland on April 26, 1951, she was the daughter of Julia Johnson and the late Nelson Johnson. Diane was a graduate of Mace’s Lane High School, Class of 1969. She went on to attend the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Class of 1975, and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. After graduation from college, Diane pursued a career in the insurance and mortgage industries. Diane grew up a member of the National Church of God in Cambridge and was, most recently, a member of Warren United Methodist Church and a member of the Gospel and Truth Bible Fellowship. Diane is survived by her husband, Lannie Seymour, of Mt. Airy; two children, Lynette Seymour, of Columbia, MD, and John Seymour and his wife, Allison, of Baltimore, MD; two granddaughters, Ariel and Kimberleigh Seymour; her mother, Julia Johnson; her uncle, Clifford Jiles; her brothers, Mosi Osaze and wife, Faith; Cal Abram Johnson and wife, Connie; and Derrick Johnson and wife, May; her sister, Maria Stubbs; many nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins. A viewing for family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday September 11th at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) from 5:30-8:00 PM and on Wednesday Sept. 12th from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at Calvary U.M. Church in Mt. Airy. Diane’s Celebration of Life will begin at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main Street, Mt. Airy on Wednesday September 12, 2007at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Harry Johnson, Jr. of Gospel and Truth Bible Fellowship and Rev. Sharon Gibson officiating. Interment at Pine Grove cemetery, Mt. Airy.

Wilson, Bonnie
Bonnie Robbins Wilson, 73 of Mt. Airy, MD formerly of TN, died on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Lorien Healthcare Facility of Mt. Airy, MD. She was the spouse of 47 years to William F. Wilson of Mt. Airy. She was born March 13, 1934 in Laurel Grove, TN the daughter of the late Jerome Robbins and late Jemima Duncan Robbins. She was raised in Clinton, TN and later resided in Derwood, MD and Damascus, MD and for the last 27 years in Mt. Airy, MD She had worked for the FBI and the Department of Navy from 1952 to 1960 was a graduate of Clinton High School Class of 1952 and a member Daughters American Revolution Bonny Kate Chapter, Tennessee Society. She was preceded in death by her sisters Esther Rice, Ada Misek, Claudia Jones, and Marjorie Wallace. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Maurer of Springfield, TN, son Jerome Wilson of Mt. Airy, MD and granddaughters Stephanie Maurer, and Emily Maurer, grandson Nicholas Maurer, sisters Mary Bridges, Ruth Braden, Edith Mitchell and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, 621 S. Charles Seivers Blvd., Clinton, TN on Saturday September 15, 2007 from 2:00-3:00 PM, with graveside service to follow at Sunset cemetery, Clinton, TN with Rev. Stan Elliott from 1st Baptist Church in Clinton, TN officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the Redland Baptist Church, Building Fund, 6922 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855.

Dorsey, Arthur H.
Arthur H. Dorsey, 77 of Mt. Airy, died Wednesday September 12, 2007 at North Hampton Manor Nursing Home. He was born December 21, 1929 in Mt. Airy, MD the son the late Basil K. Dorsey and the late Mandella Costley Dorsey. He was retired from United Disposal Company in Rockville, MD He was a veteran of US Army and Served in the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, United National Medal, National Defense Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers and taking care of the home place. Surviving are Sisters: Nelda Lee of Mt. Airy, Mildred Lyles of Mt. Airy, Anna Richardson of Columbia, Brothers: Carl Dorsey of Monrovia, Herman Dorsey of Westminster, Brother: Charles Dorsey of Frederick, Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 Sister. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday September 19, 2007 9AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery, Owings Mills, MD the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8 Am until time of service. Lorraine R Roland (nee Raeuchle), age 85, of Sykesville, died on Friday September 14, 2007 at Transitions Healthcare in Sykesville, MD. She was born September 7, 1922 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Charles Raeuchle and the late Lillian Kahler Raeuchle. She was an accountant for C & P Telephone. She was the wife of Charles E. Roland of Sykesville. She was the mother of Charles E. Roland IV of Oakland, MD. She was the niece of Elizabeth Finlayson Brown of Vermont. Graveside Memorial Service will be held Friday September 21, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD.

Sue Coleman Bennett (nee Roop), age 74, of Woodbine, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, MD after a brief illness. She was born April 5, 1933 in Oak Hill, West Virginia the daughter of the late Clemer T. Roop and the late Lena M. Hall Roop Ziegler. She was the wife of Harry H. Bennett, Sr. who died October 30, 2006. Surviving are children; daughter Margaret Foshee of Woodbine, MD, daughter Toby L. Wean and Husband of Larry of Sykesville, and Son Harry H. Bennett, Jr. of Sykesville. Also survived by 4 grandchildren; Angela Foshee of Chicago, Ill., McKenzi Bennett of Westminster, MD, Todd L. Wean of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Brandon Wean of Sykesville, MD. She was a retired nurse worked at Carroll County General and Frederick Memorial Hospital, OB-GYN Nursery. Loved the outdoors, and gardening. She was an Honorary Member of the Winfield Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Westminster Seventh Day Adventist Church in Westminster, MD. Funeral Service will be held Monday September 24, 2007 at 12:00 noon at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South High School) with the Pastor Steve Wall of Westminster Seventh Day Adventist Church in Westminster officiating. She enjoyed Bowling. She was the wife of the late Frank Forney. She was the mother of Allen M. Forney of Brookeville, MD, and Harold Eugene Forney of Hector, NY. Sister of Ralph Beaver of PA. Predeceased by siblings Jesse, John, Woody, Bill and Haddie. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
