Alan Berrenson, age 76, of Westminster, died Wednesday October 3, 2007, at his home. He was born November 26, 1930 in Utica, New York the son of the late Isaac M. Berrenson and the late Bertha Berzoza Berrenson. He was the husband of the late Edith Santmyer Berrenson. He was a Warehouse Supervisor for Apollo a Major Appliance Company. He was self-employed by AB Crafts maker of Wood & Toys. He was the father of Michael Berrenson, Cindy Bentz, Joyce Connors, Brian Krieger, and Robin Harn. Brother of Gertrude Paris, Manny Berrenson and the late Lou Berrenson. Grandfather of Jonathan Bentz and Edward and Robert Spaay, Kelley Brozina, Brian, Jason and Patrick Connors, Amy Green, Marti Fox and Julie Boswell. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren, and nephews and nieces. Graveside and Interment Service at Lake View Memorial Park on Friday October 5, 2007 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Barnes, Sr., Charles W.
Charles W. Barnes, Sr., age 91, of Westminster, lived his entire life in Winfield, oldest living relative, died on Sunday October 7, 2007, at Transitions Health Care in Sykesville, MD. He was the husband of Barbara W. Barnes (nee Waltz) for 68 years. He was born November 29, 1915 in Winfield, MD the son of the late John Stem Barnes and the late Grace Pickett Barnes. Father of Charles W. Barnes, Jr. and wife Mazie of Winfield. Brother of the late Margaret Seitz, Nicholas Barnes and Augustus C. Barnes. Grandfather of Steve and Diane Barnes of Mt. Airy and Susan and Edward Rodrigues of Sykesville. Great grandfather of Sarah and Bryan Barnes of Mt. Airy. He was and auto worker for Mack Truck in Hagerstown and was a driver for Greyhound Bus Service. He enjoyed gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a charter member of Westminster Elks Club. Graveside inurnment service will be Thursday October 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Taylorsville U.M. Church cemetery in Taylorsville with Pastor Judy Emerson of Ebenezer U.M. Church officiating. Family request friends and relatives to return to Ebenezer U.M. Church 4911 Woodbine Road, Winfield for fellowship after the service at the cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 1393 Progress Way Suite 908, Sykesville, MD 21784, or the Carroll Hospice, Inc.-Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave. Westminster, MD 21157.

Parks, Philip G.
Philip G. “Buck” Parks, age 94, of Westminster, died Wednesday October 10, 2007 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. He was born March 8, 1913 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Lee Parks and the late Eva Debaugh Hill. He was the husband of the late Loretta S. Morgan Parks. He was an avid Golfer and member of Wakefield Valley Golf Club. He was a salesman for Reliable Liquors. Father of Phyllis Bruce of Westminster. Grandfather of Jennifer Mathis and husband Charles of Westminster. Great grandfather of Tyler Foley, Nickolus Mathis and Samantha Mathis all of Westminster. Brother of the late Arthur Parks, Late Hazel Kelly and late Ruth Hamman. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Private Services. Memorial Contributions can be made to Carroll Hospice, Inc-Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.

Smith, Charles F.
Charles Frederick “Fritz” Smith, 88 of Marvin Gardens, Eldersburg, MD, died Friday October 12, 2007 at Carroll Hospital Center. Mr. Smith was the spouse of Doris Marie Schaeffer Smith of Marvin Gardens, Eldersburg. He was born September 28, 1919 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late John E. Smith and the late Anna M. Adams Smith. Mr. Smith worked for the Department of Agriculture as a Food Programs Specialist. He was a former member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Catonsville, MD and a current member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, He is a Member of American Legion Sykesville Memorial Post 223 and a member of Freedom District Lions Club. Mr. Smith was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran and a member of the 25th Bomb Group Air Force. Surviving in addition to his wife are Children: Linda Spafford of Eldersburg, Leslee Ann Arnold of Fort Pierce, FL, Cheryl Koerner of Rockledge, FL, Charles B. Smith of Eldersburg, Scott Smith of Eldersburg, and Jeffrey Smith of Pasadena, MD. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. The American Legion and Lions club will both be conducting memorial services at 7:30 PM Sunday October 14, 2007 with funeral services following immediately afterward at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME, 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 to 7:30 PM. Inurnment will take place Wednesday October 17, 2007 11:30 AM at the Chapel at Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Rd. Owings Mills, MD. Margie Jane Colson Hett, 71 of Winfield, MD, died Tuesday October 16, 2007 at her home in Winfield, MD. She was the spouse of the late Foster Carlton Hett, Jr. She was born November 17, 1935 in Woodbine, MD the daughter of the late Howard L. Colson and the late Annie Duvall Colson. She was a homemaker and caregiver for 41 years to her daughter Amy, with CP. She enjoyed playing Bingo and playing Cards. Surviving her are Children: Connie and husband Ronald Miller of Sykesville, Dennis and wife Nancy Hett of Winfield, MD, Darlene Howes and fiancé Joe Jarocki of Sykesville, Donna and husband Neal McDaniel of Winfield, Amy Hett of Winfield, Pearl Hett of Winfield, Terry Keyser of Winfield. Brother: George W. Colson of Taneytown, Sister: Anna Mae Harrison of Woodbine, Sister: Dorothy Pearce of Cumberland, MD Sister-in-law Jane Colson of Woodbine, MD 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son: Carl Eugene Hett, Sr. and siblings Virginia Eyler, Wanda Anderson, Nancy Delph, Howard Leroy Colson, Jr. and Raymond Eugene Colson. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday October 19, 2007 8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. Wright, Margaret
Margaret Dayhoff Wright, age 95, of Mt. Airy, MD died Friday October 26, 2007 at Carroll Hospice-Dove House in Westminster, MD. She was the wife of the late Ralph D. Wright. She was the daughter of the late Granville Dayhoff and the late Blanche Esworthy Dayhoff. She was born September 12, 1912 in Frederick County, MD. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren for over 75 years, where she was very active and taught Sunday School. Over 50 years of Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Mt. Airy Senior Center, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mt. Airy. She was a Leader in the Girl Scouts in Mt. Airy. She was the mother of daughter-Betty J. Beutgen and husband Josef of FL, daughter-Shelva J. Burdette and devoted friend John of Frederick and daughter-Sharon Franklin and husband Robert of Mt. Airy, MD, and the late Robert Dayhoff. Sister of late Thelma Smith, late Dena Wright, late Gladys Merryman, late Anna Garman and the late Walter Dayhoff. She was also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by granddaughter Teresa Burdette. Interment Locust Grove Church of the Brethren cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD. Family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Moxley, Melvin U.
Melvin Urner Moxley, 87 of New Windsor, MD, died Monday October 29, 2007 at North Hampton Manor, Frederick, MD. He was the spouse of the late Loretta Theresa Shorb Moxley and the late Mildred Burke Moxley. He was born June 27, 1920 in Mount Airy, MD. Mr. Moxley was retired from the MD School for the Deaf in Frederick, MD where he worked as a groundskeeper. Mr. Moxley was an active member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday October 31, 2007 12 Noon at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Rd. Mount Airy, MD 21771 with Pastor Wayne Hall and Rev. L. Ross Kirk officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 Noon. Interment will be in Locust Grove Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13356 Glissans Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

Doyle, Frances J.
Frances J. Doyle, 103, of Westminster (formerly Taneytown) died October 31, at Sun Valley Assisted Living Center. Born October 28, 1904, in Atchison, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Anthony George Frankenhoff and the late Mary Christine Wolters Frankenhoff. She was the wife of the late James Doyle, III, her husband of 76 years, who died in 2006. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law James IV and Sue Doyle of Finksburg, William E. and Patricia Doyle of Sykesville, Thomas E. and Margaret Doyle of Oakland, and son Charles J. Doyle of Sykesville. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by sister, Constance Green, and brothers, Ferdinand, Charles, Eugene and Anthony Frankenhoff; granddaughter Mary Denise Doyle; great-grandsons Nathan Doyle Moats, and Robert John Lehr. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from George Washington University in 1927. She was employed by the State Department in Washington, D.C. before retiring to become a full-time mother and homemaker. She was a valuable assistant to her husband in his various endeavors. They moved to St. Croix, Virgin Islands, in 1962 where they developed property and lived for eight years. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph ’s Church in Taneytown, and more recently St. John’s Church in Westminster. There will be no public visitation. Funeral services and interment will private. Arrangements are being handled by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Strader, Warren V.
Warren V. Strader, 85 of Woodbine, MD, died Sunday November 4, 2007 at Fairhaven in Sykesville, MD. He was the spouse of Madeline Franklin Strader who he married March 3rd 1950. Mr. Strader was born August 14, 1922 in Gregory West Virginia the son of the late Willie Harrison Strader and the late Winnie Dell Williams Strader. Mr. Strader was retired from Carey Machinery and Supply where he was an office manager. He was a graduate of Doddridge County High School Class of 1941 in West Virginia. Served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. Afterwards graduating from West Virginia University with his Bachelor of Science Degree. He was Past President and an active Lifetime Member of Glenwood Lions Club of which he was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. Surviving him in addition to his wife are Son and Daughter-in-law Donald Warren Strader and Arantza A. Strader of Miami, FL. Daughter and son-in-law Patricia Strader Reed and Randall R. Reed of Baltimore. Grandchildren: Cristina and Victoria Strader and Jacqueline Reed. Also survived by Sisters: Elma Sliger, Velma Swiger and Goldie Nolte. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday November 8, 2007 11 Am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 16151 Old Frederick Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771 with viewing 1 hour prior at the church. Interment will be in Morgan Chapel cemetery, Woodbine, MD The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM with a Lions Club Memorial Service at 7:30 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21771. Those desiring may make contributions to the Glenwood Lions Club, 2832 Sagewood Dr. Glenwood, MD 21735.

Covey, Jr., Robert J.
Robert Jackson Covey, Jr., age 53, of Ocean City, MD, formerly of Randallstown, died Thursday November 8, 2007 at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, MD. He was born March 26, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA the son of Kathleen Covey-Kersey (nee Peters) and husband Ed of Eldersburg and the late Robert J. Covey, Sr. He was a 1972 Graduate of Randallstown High School where he was an All American Football player. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing all sports. He attended Frostburg State University. He enjoyed playing in Pool leagues in Ocean City, where he also won a Chili cook off contest. He was employed by Super Fresh Food Stores. He enjoyed nature and food and spending time with his mother, family and friends. Brother of Sandra L. Hensley and husband Richard of Marriottsville, Thomas B. Covey and companion Kristin Boemmel of Catonsville and James B. Covey and wife Cynthia of Finksburg. Step brother of Carlton, William and Calvin & Lisa Kersey and children. Uncle of Daniel, Timothy and Jennifer Hensley and Tyler, Logan, Conner and Brady Covey. Helen Hymiller Stauffer, 72 of Selbyville, DE formerly of Marriottsville, MD, died Thursday November 8, 2007 at Atlantic General Hospital. She was the spouse of 39 years to the late William Edward Stauffer. Mrs. Stauffer was born November 26, 1934 in Eldersburg, MD the daughter of the late Jeremiah Nathan Hymiller and the late Rosie Viola Farver Hymiller. She was retired from Springfield State Hospital where she was a nursing supervisor. Surviving her are Daughter: Terri Linn Stauffer of Westminster, Daughter and Son-in-law Carol and Tim Coufal of Eldersburg, MD. Brothers: Nathan and George Hymiller of Sykesville, Jerry Hymiller of Woodbine. Grandchildren: Bud Coppersmith, Eric Pfoutz, Kelly Hurley, Dylan Coufal and Kirra Coufal Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Brothers: Frank and Johnny Hymiller. Violet “Tomi” Loretta Barnhart Homens, 77 of Eldersburg, MD, died Tuesday November 20, 2007 at Carroll Hospice’s Dove House in Westminster. She was the spouse of the late Ernest A. Homens. She was born February 22, 1930 in Libertytown, MD the daughter of the late Ellwood Barnhart and late Hester Hornbaker Barnhart. She was retired from C&P Telephone as a switchboard operator and also worked with Affiliated Contractors. Surviving her are Son and daughter-in-law: Henry M. and Sharon Miller of Arnold, MD Daughter: Bonnie J. Berg of Linthicum, MD Son and daughter-in-law Brian B. and Tina Miller of Linthicum, MD. Sisters: Mabel Harrison, Isabelle Payne and Lolita Renehan. Brothers: Kenneth and Ronald Barnhart. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brothers Jobie and Glenn Barnhart. Funeral Services will be held Friday November 23, 2007 10 Am at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD where the family will receive friends from 9 AM until time of service. Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD. Margaret E. Hardesty Boothe (nee Peacock), age 88, of Westminster, formerly of St. Mary’s County, died Wednesday November 28, 2007 at the Village of Lauren Run in Fayetteville, PA. She was born March 20, 1919 in St. Mary’s County, MD the daughter of the late Robert Peacock and the late Ethel Hammett Peacock. She was the beloved wife of the late Monroe C. Hardesty and the late Gregory M. Boothe. She was a retired Dental Assistant for Dr. Capelli. She was the loving mother of Robert Hardesty of Westminster and the late Larry Hardesty. Dear mother in law of Mary Hardesty of FL and the late Elizabeth Jean Hardesty. Loving grandmother of Charles Hardesty of FL and Marlene Muller of Florida. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Ridge, MD on Thursday December 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. Private inurnment. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Village of Laurel Run, 6375 Chambersburg Road, Fayetteville, PA 17222.
