She was the counter manager of Fairlanes Bowling Alley in Randallstown, MD she worked at the cosmetics counter at Floyds Department Store, She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. Member of Alpha Beta Zeta Sorority, Christopher Columbus Lodge #2240 Sons of Italy. A Founding and Lifetime Member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 122. She was a great cook and enjoyed working with ceramics. Surviving her are Children and their spouses: Dannie “Biff” and Sharon Hird of Modena, NY, Robert and Patricia Hird of Eldersburg, Patricia and the late Robert Dillon of Westminster, William “Bud” and Maggie Hird of Hunt Valley. She had a special bond to granddaughter and caretaker Amanda. Also survived by Grandchildren: Gina, Jackie, Chad, Chelsea, Danielle, Spencer, Alyson and Matthew and 3 Great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 1 great-grandson. Best Friends and neighbors Harry and LaRue Schaffer. A Funeral Mass will be said Thursday December 6, 2007 9:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 9531 Liberty Rd. Randallstown, MD 21133 with Fr. Walter McGovern officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. The family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD on Tuesday 7 to 9 PM and on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM with a Sons of Italy Service Wed afternoon and an American Legion Service Wednesday evening. Marjorie Frances Fleming Pickett, 79 of Woodbine, MD, died Monday December 3, 2007 at her home in Woodbine, MD. She was the spouse of the late Albert Earl Pickett. She was born March 12, 1928 in Woodbine, MD the daughter of the late John B. Fleming and late Amy Leatherwood Fleming. She was a Secretary, Book Keeper and Caregiver. She was a Lifetime Member of Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church... Hobbies included Needlework and Gardening. Surviving her are Daughter and Son-in-law Jeanie A. and Skip Edmonds of Woodbine. Grandchildren: Wendy Bizzarri of Westminster and John Charles Walters of Woodbine. 4 Great-grandchildren: Michael, Vinnie, Evan and Nicholas. Preceded in death by 3 brothers Carol, Mark and Stanley Fleming. He was born January 18, 1932 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Iowne Harbaugh and the late Mary Boring Harbaugh. He was a installer for Stewarts Kitchen for 27 years. He was the husband of E. Ruby Seiler Harbaugh. He was the father of Linda King of Elkridge, Harry S. Harbaugh, Jr. of Catonsville, Gordon I. Harbaugh of FL, Deborah Watts of Arbutus and the late Raymond Harbaugh. Brother of the late Robert and Guy Harbaugh and the late Adelaide Ayres. Also Survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was the son of Estelle Hines (nee Wineberger) of Frederick and the late Jake Barnes. He was born June 22, 1951 in Washington, DC. He was a District Manager for Kraft and New Biscuit Company. He was the husband of Robin K. Barnes (nee Schoenian). He was the father of Stephen C. Barnes, Jr. of Ellicott City, Scott M. Barnes, Justin W. Barnes of Columbia, Lara E. Muller and Kevin M. Brown. Brother of Sherri L. Little of Mt. Airy. Also survived by 4 grandchildren; Eden V. Barnes, Leah E. Barnes, Grant L. Barnes and Alex J. Muller. Margaret Blumenauer Fenstermacher, age 88, of Unionville formerly of Silver Spring, died Tuesday December 11, 2007 at her home. She was born July 12, 1919 in Washington, DC the daughter of the late Thomas William Blumenauer and the late Edna Schaeffer Blumenauer. She was the wife of Harvey Edward Fenstermacher, Jr. She was a homemaker. She was an Oblate of the Life in Jesus Community and enjoyed needle work and sewing. She was the mother of Jean and husband Bishop Philip Zampino of Unionville, Linda Engroff and husband Dennis of Queensbury, NY and T. Edward and wife Carol Fenstermacher of Silver Spring. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by brother Thomas William Blumenauer, Jr. and sister Julia Aiken. Funeral Service will be held Sat. December 15, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of The Life in Jesus Community 13830 Saint Benedict Way (near Unionville) with the Bishop Philip Zampino officiating of the Life Jesus Community. Schmitz, Albert L.
Albert Leroy Schmitz, Jr., age 81, of Taneytown, formerly of Randallstown, died Friday December 14, 2007 at the Carroll Hospice-Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was born January 20, 1926 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Albert Leroy Schmitz, Sr. and the late Marian Werner Schmitz. He was the husband of Doris Marie Otter Schmitz. He worked as a Civil Engineer for Corman Construction Company. He was a Lifetime K of C Brother St. Charles #3960. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII. He was a Great Reader and he loved spending time at the Beach House with his family. He was the father of Francis Steven Schmitz and wife Judy of Mt. Airy and Joyce Marie Anderson of Taneytown. Loving grandfather of Melissa, Kyle, Kristina, Samantha, Taylor and Jessica. Funeral Liturgy (MASS) will be held Tuesday December 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Johns R.C. Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster with the Fr. Patrick Peach officiating. Interment will be in Lorraine Park cemetery, Woodlawn, MD. Clifford Boyer Hyatt, 92 of Severna Park, MD, died Saturday December 15, 2007 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was the spouse of the Geraldine Vansant Hyatt of Severna Park. Mr. Hyatt was born April 20, 1915 in Damascus, MD the son of late William Eli Cleveland Hyatt and the late Mildred S. Boyer Hyatt. Mr. Hyatt was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard as a Radio Operator from 1935-1938 a Radio operator at Hoover Field from 1938 to 1941 He was a National Airport Radio Operator for 1941-1942 Baltimore Harbor Field Radio Technician from 1942 to 1943 In 1943 he was a Airport Manager and Radio Technician in Nenana Alaska He was a Radio Tech in Sunbury, PA 1943-1945 Chief Electronics Manager of the FAA at the Friendship International Airport(BWI) 1957-1973. He was a member of The Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park. He was a member of Amateur Radio Relay League (Call Sign W31VM), a member of Anne Arundel Radio Club (Davidson). Member of the Severna Park Elks Lodge #2482. Member of Wally Byam (Airstream Club), Middle Atlantic Unit. Member of Good Sam Trailor Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are Daughter: Barbara Lou Hyatt of Crofton, MD, Sons:James C. Hyatt of Walkersville and Gregory B. Hyatt of Pasadena. Grandchildren Christopher M. Knotts, Cleveland B., Emily S. Suzanne B. Pamela J., and Jeffrey B. Hyatt. Great-Grandchildren Brandon C. Knotts, and Grace Noel Knotts. Great-great-grandchildren Elizabeth Anne Knotts and Valerie Megan Knotts. Preceded in death by brother J. Cleveland Hyatt and sister Edna Linthicum. The Family will receive friends on Thursday December 20, 2007 from 10 to 11 AM at Prospect United Methodist Church, 5923 Woodville Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771 where funeral services will take place at 11 AM with the Rev. Susan Boehl officiating. Interment will be in Prospect cemetery. McBee, Lawrence F.
Ret. General Lawrence Francis McBee, 72 of Mt. Airy, died Monday December 17, 2007 at the University of MD Medical Center. He was the spouse of Nola Rose Raymond McBee. He was born August 6, 1935 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Charles McBee and the late Sarah Cullaton McBee. General McBee joined the MD Army National Guard in October of 1952 in Division Headquarters, 29th Infantry Division. He was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 1962 as a member of Class 3, Maryland Military Academy ’s Officer Candidate School. General McBee has served in a variety of command and staff positions. Those posts include: Battalion Executive Officer and Commander 2-175th Infantry Battalion; Executive Officer, 58th Separate Infantry Brigade; Assistant Operations and Training Officer, HQ MD Army National Guard; Director of Personnel and Administration MD State Area Command; Assistant Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff, MD Army National Guard. On 18 October 1993 until his retirement from Federal Service on 31 August 1995, General McBee commanded the 58th Troop Command, Maryland Army National Guard. Awards include Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, National Selective Service Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Selective Service Achievement Medal Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, MD State Awards include, Distinguished Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Medal and two Adjutant General’s Eagle Awards. General McBee is a graduate of Command and General Staff College, National Security Management Course; National Defense University and the United States Army War College. He is a member the Army War College Alumni Association; 29th Division Association; Veterans Corp 5th Regiment; Military Order of Foreign Wars; Past Honorary Colonel of the 175th Infantry Regiment; Distinguished Member of the 15th Infantry regiment; Life Member of the National Guard Association of the United States and the National Guard Association of MD. General McBee was Program Director of the MD National Guard’s About Face Program between 1996 and 2000. He served on the Board of the National Guard Foundation and was Chair of their Constitution and By-Laws Committee and the Emergency Relief Fund. He was Past President of the St. Vincent De Paul Society Conference at St. John’s Parish in Westminster, MD, past President of the Carroll and Howard County Regional council of St. Vincent de Paul. Past Board member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Baltimore Council. An Avid Golf and Chief Agitator. Devoted Father of Rose and husband Bruce Astrin of Hanover, PA, Carol and husband Danny Dixon of Sykesville, Doreen and husband John Grap of Hanover, PA. Loving Grandfather of Stephen, Sarah and Kimberly Astrin, Samantha, Patrick and Caitlin Dixon, Julianne and Ryan Grap. Dearest brother of Carroll and wife Dorothy McBee, Anita Arnold, late Gordon and late Katherine McBee. Andrew J. Gorman, Sr., age 86, of Eldersburg, died on Friday December 21, 2007, at his son’s home. He was born May 27, 1921 in Catonsville, MD the son of the late John Gorman and the late Edith Rose Gorman (nee Bosewell). He was a Manager of Grocery Department for Pantry Pride/Food Fare for over 40 years. He was an avid vegetable gardener. He was the husband of Margaret M. Gorman (nee Henn) for 62 years. He was the father of Andrew J. Gorman, Jr. of Timonium, MD, Joseph S. Gorman of Eldersburg and Timothy L. Gorman of Glen Rock, PA. Brother of James S. Gorman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Calvert D. Gorman of Odenton. Also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Margaret Feeney Cornwell, 96 of Granite, MD, died on Monday December 24, 2007. Mrs. Cornwell was the beloved spouse of the late Clark E. Cornwell, Sr. She was the devoted mother of Clark E. Cornwell, Jr. Also survived by niece Carole Powell and numerous other nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers Clarence P., J. Carroll, Aquin P. and Joseph W. Feeney. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday December 26, 2007 1:00 PM at St. Alphonsus Rodrigues Church cemetery Old Court Rd. Granite, MD. Bertha Pearl Lindsay Pickett, 105 of Woodbine, MD, died Monday December 24, 2007 at North Hampton Manor Frederick, MD. Born November 3, 1902 in Carroll County, MD, Mrs. Pickett was a homemaker. The Daughter of the late Albert Lindsay and late Irene Young Lindsay. She was the spouse of the late Ellis Dewey Pickett Son: Norman D. and wife Julia Pickett of Woodbine, Son: Ralph L. and wife Alice Pickett of Woodbine. 11 Grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren. Daughter: the Late Hazel Pickett Smith. She was the Last living survivor of her family. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.
