Maurice E. Beall, Sr., age 82, of Frederick, died Tuesday September 16, 2003 at his home.

He was born July 20, 1921 in Woodbine, MD., the son of the late Clennie S. Beall and the late Elsie Green Beall.

He was the husband of the late Sylvia S. Beall (nee Magers) who died March 21, 2002.

He was a railroad car man for B & O Railroad. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Woodbine. He was a Life Member of Mt. Airy American Legion Gold Star Post #191 and Four Counties VFW Post #10076 in Mt. Airy, MD; He was a Corporal in the 2519TH Army Air Forces Base unit, 1st. troop carrier squadron.

Surviving are daughters and son-in-laws Sylvia S. and Ronald Dobson of Jacksonville, Florida, Gloria and Dean Cherrix of Taylorsville, MD, and son and daughter-in-law Maurice E. Beall, Jr. and Diane of Chesterfield, VA.

Dear brother of Arthur G. Beall of Sykesville and the late Stephen A. Beall and late Katie Mae Fiddler.

Loving grandfather of Ron, Jr., Shawn, Kevin, Daniel and Clinton Dobson, Gloria Jean Burriss, David and Stacy Faidley, Kelly Crumbacker, Michael, Jeffrey and Emily Beall.

Also survived by 16 great grandchildren

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday September 20, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Pastor Roger Rinker of Calvary Lutheran Church in Woodbine officiating.

Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Thursday 7-9 PM and Friday From 3-5 & 7-9 PM.

Mt. Airy American Legion Goldstar Post #191 Memorial Service Thursday 7:30 PM.

Leo William Moxley 84, of Mt. Airy, MD
1919 - 2003

Leo "Bill" Moxley died Sunday September 28, 2003 at Westminster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was the spouse Brooxxie Bell Layton Moxley.

Mr. Moxley was born on April 19, 1919 in Randallstown, MD the son of the late James and late Virginia Moxley.

He was employed by Johns Hopkins University, Applied Physics Lab as a carpenter.

Member of American Legion Gold Star Post 191 Mount Airy, A Veteran of the United States Navy he also enjoyed Gardening and Woodworking.

Surviving besides his current wife are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday October 2, 2003 11:00 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME 1212 W. OLD LIBERTY RD. WINFIELD, MD

Interment will be in Morgan Chapel cemetery, Woodbine, MD

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday October 1, 2003 from 7 to 9PM with a American Legion Memorial Service at 7:30 PM

James John Kelley 77, of Granite, MD
1925 - 2003

Died Thursday October 2, 2003 at Future Care Randallstown, MD

He was the spouse of Marthetta Brigstocke Kelley

He was born October 4, 1925 in Baltimore, MD

The son of the late John J. Kelley, Sr. and late Edith V. Yinger Kelley

Mr. Kelley was a retired Attorney for the Social Security Administration.

A US Navy Veteran of WWII. Member of the Chesepeake Bay Submarine Veterans of WWII.

Surviving besides his wife are Daughters: Adrinenne P. Schiner of Glenegl, MD, Denise Leicester of Carrollton, VA and Son : J. Paul Kelley, Granite, MD

Also Survived by 8 grandchildren.

Memorial Services will take place on Saturday October 4, 2003 11:00 AM at Granite Presbyterian Church, 10637 Old Ct. Rd. Granite, MD.

With inurnment in the church cemetery following the service.

Helen Elaine Berry 85, of Sykesville, MD
1918 - 2003

Helen Elaine Berry (nee Costley), age 85, of Sykesville, died Tuesday October 7, 2003 at Continuum Care in Sykesville, MD.

She was born May 25, 1918 in Carroll County, Berrett, Maryland, the daughter of the late Columbus America Costley and the late Elenor Bell Costley (nee Dotson).

She was the wife of the late Carlton E. Berry

She was a teacher for the Carroll County Board of Education and Baltimore City Public School System. She was a member of Fairview U.M. Church in Taylorsville, MD.

Numerous nieces and nephews survive her.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday October 14, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Dr. Lloyd Marcus of Fairview U.M. Church in Taylorsville officiating.

Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Monday from 7-9 PM.

Albert Augustus Franklin 79, of Taylorsville, MD
1924 - 2003

Albert Augustus Franklin, age 79, of Taylorsville, Md., died Friday October 10, 2003 at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy. Md.

He was born August 20, 1924 in Carroll County, Taylorsville, Maryland, the son of the late Fred Franklin and the late Julia Ann Hooper Franklin.

He was a truck driver and a farmer.

He was the husband of the late Edna May Franklin (nee Kline).

He was the father of Ronald E. Yeager of Virginia and the late Connie J. Wolf.

He was the brother of Luther J. Franklin of New Windsor, Mary Alma Franklin of New Windsor and Belva Richards of Littleton, Colo.

Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday October 15, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. O.F. "Bud" Kibbe, Methodist Clergy, officiating.

Interment will be in Taylorsville U.M. Church cemetery, Taylorsville, MD

Pallbearers will be Glenn Mullinex, Harry Franklin, Todd Wolf, Jeff Wolf, Ricky Barbe, Francis Lowe and Mike Laychak.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM

Elsie Cox Ballance, age 76, of Mt. Airy, Md., died Sat. October 18, 2003 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD

She was born April 18, 1927 in New Holland, North Carolina the daughter of the late Otis Cox and the late Mary Cox (nee Selby).

She is survived by stepmother Lula Mae Cox of Belhaven, NC

She worked as a Time Keeper for Springfield State Hospital for 30 years

She was Past President of the Ladies of the Elks #2277 in Westminster; She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 31 in Westminster

She was the wife of Talmadge B. Ballance of Mt. Airy of 55 years.

Mother of Kenneth B. and Pat Ballance of Baltimore, Vicki and Roland Deardorff of Mt. Airy.

Sister of Jimmy Cox of Belhaven, North Carolina, and the late Hyler Cox.

Grandmother of Steven and Katie Ballance of Baltimore and Bryan and Matt Deardorff of Mt. Airy

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday October 21, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Fred P. Eckhardt officiating.

Robert R. Buckman, Sr. 79, of Mt. Airy, MD
1924 - 2003

Mr. Robert R. (Bob) Buckman Sr., 79 of Mt. Airy, Md. Died Monday October 20, 2003at home after a brief battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Hallie M. Rhinecker Buckman who died in 1983.Bob was born July 8, 1924 in Mt. Airy, Md. He was the son of the late Charles P. and Nora Maybelle Gilbert Buckman.

He served in the U.S.Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany.

He retired as a maintenance supervisor at Montgomery County Public Schools in 1986.

After retirement Bob designed and built his dream home on Jesse Smith road, where he spent time entertaining friends and family. He was a woodworker, hunter, liked to travel and built the only known musical water wheel. An avid musician he built instruments and loved to play his washtub bass.

He was a member of The American Legion Gold Star Post 191 in Mt. Airy, Moose Lodge 1582 in Brunswick, and Counties 4 Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10076 of Mt Airy.

Surviving is his fiancée and companion of 17 years Della L.Shives,. Also surviving are daughters, Linda B. Graham and husband Paul A. Graham of Union Bridge, MD..Lisa B. Head and husband Thomas O. Head of Loysville PA; sons Robert R. Buckman Jr. and companion Maryann Johnson, of Shepherdstown WV., Brian L. Buckman and wife Deborah of Mt. Airy, MD.; three sisters Elizabeth Harrison, , Mary Rimbey, Virginia Linton all of Mt. Airy; one brother Emmette Buckman and wife Jean of Baltimore;one sister in law Pauline Buckman of Mt. Airy.13 Grandchildern and 2 great grandchildren, Searra O. Head, Ashley G. Buckman, Layla Ann Buckman, Abrahm Lee Buckman, Hallie O. Head, Betsy Reinert and husband Brendon, Laura Cook and husband Scott, Jenny Roberts, Jessica Spitzer, Jackie Josten, Janet Josten, Eddie McMurtrie, Erin McMurtrie, Tyler Reinert, Dalton Reinert. Also surviving are Della Shives’ two daughters, Diana L. Josten and husband Tom of Burke VA and Kimberly A. McMurtrie and husband Brian of Boonsboro, MD. Also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by, one sister Audrey Guassardo, and two brothers Ralph Buckman and Leo Buckman, one infant granddaughter Kelly Marie Buckman.

Friends and family may call Thursday October 23, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 Pm at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME 1212 W. OLD LIBERTY RD. WINFIELD, MARYLAND 21784 where a American Legion Memorial Service will take place at 7:30 PM.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Prospect United Methodist Church 5923 Woodville Rd. Mt. Airy, MD 21771 on Friday October 24 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Susan Boehl officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pall Bearers will be Abrahm Buckman, Gilbert Buckman, Wesley Buckman, Steve Buckman, Jimmy Linton, and Mark Guassardo.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Prospect United Methodist Church, 5923 Woodville Road, Mt. Airy Md. 21771, or Hospice of Frederick County P.O. Box 1799, Frederick MD 21702.

John A. Jacobs 64, of Woodbine, MD
1939 - 2003

John A. Jacobs, 64, of Woodbine, MD died on Friday October 24, 2003 at his home.

He was born January 20, 1939 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late John A. K. Jacobs and the late Thelma M. Jacobs (nee Dorsey).

He was a Postal Letter Carrier for the US Government for over 30 years. He was a member of Wesley Freedom U. M. Church in Sykesville, MD. Mr. Jacobs served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Sheridan R. Jacobs (nee Bowen); and children John R. Jacobs and his wife Gina of Hanover, PA; Linda D. Rowe and her husband William of Ellicott City; and Jacqueline M. Jacobs of Los Angeles, CA; and Eric W. Jacobs and his wife Ginny of Westminster. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; his sister and brother in law Janet and John Sraver of Hampstead, MD and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at Wesley Freedom U.M. Church 961 Johnsville Road, Sykesville, MD on Wednesday October 29, 2003at 10:30 AM with Rev. Richard McCullough of Wesley Freedom U. M. Church in Sykesville officiating,
