Charles Thomas Hird died Saturday October 25, 2003 at Howard County General Hospital.
He was the spouse of Marie J. Mu Hird.
He was born September 13, 1921 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.
The son of the late James and Ethel Florence McGinnis Hird
Mr. Hird was a retired Iron Worker with Iron Workers Local #16.
He was a Veteran of The United States Air Force serving as a crew chief during WWII, a Life Member of American Legion Liberty Post #122 Randallstown, A member of the following Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Reisterstown Moose, Sons of Italy Christopher Columbus Lodge #2240, Odd Fellows Lodge of Dundalk, String Band of America of Sykesville, Country Music Association of Sykesville. Mr. Hird performed music at numerous nursing homes in MD.
Surviving are Children and their spouses: Dannie” Biff” and Sharon Hird of Medina, NY, Robert and Patricia Hird of Eldersburg, Patricia and the late Robert Dillon of Westminster and William”Bud” and Maggie Hird of Hunt Valley.
Mr. Hird was 1 of 13 Children he is survived by 2 siblings Lela Epley of Kearney, Nebraska and Wesley Hird of Kearney, Nebraska.
Also survived by 9 Grandchildren with a special bond to Granddaughter Gina Regalbuto whom he helped raise and 3 great grandchildren, best friends and neighbors Harry and LaRue Shafer. Proceeded in death by one great- grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday October 29, 2003 9AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 9533 Liberty Rd. Randallstown, MD with Fr. Walter McGovern officiating. Interment Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD
The family will receive friends on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with a Sons of Italy Memorial Service on Monday at 7:30 PM and a American Legion Memorial Service on Tuesday at 8 PM.

Nelson Leon Fleming, age 68, of Hagerstown, formerly of Mt. Airy, died Sunday October 26, 2003 at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, MD
He was born May 16, 1935 in Howard County, Maryland the son of the late Harry B. Fleming, Sr. and the late Estella Elizabeth Shoemaker Fleming.
He was a former member of Mt. Airy Vol. Fire Co. He is a member of Mt. Airy Bible Church is Lisbon, and former member and usher of Calvary U.M. Church in Mt. Airy, also is an employee of Burrier-Queen Funeral Home in Winfield. He was a Self-Employed Master Barber and also worked in Frederick as a barber. He worked As a Lab Technician in Bethesda at the Armed Forces Radiologist Resource Institute (AFRRI).
He was the loving husband of Anna Rhae Fleming (nee Aholt).
He was the devoted father of Vernon Eugene Fleming of Mt. Airy and Verna Jean Munch of Hagerstown.
Dear brother of Flora Richard of Mt. Airy, Walter J. Fleming of Monrovia, Harry B. Fleming, Jr. of Baltimore, Nellie M. Brown of Mt. Airy, Hanna Knill of Mt. Airy and the late Gertrude Hulver, late Shirley Dubel, and late Stanley Eugene Fleming and late Thomas Wilfred Fleming. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) on Thursday October 30, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor H. Wallace Webster officiating.

Nellie W. Pickett (nee Walker), age 98, of Woodbine, died Monday November 3, 2003 at Montgomery County General Hospital, Olney, MD.
She was born November 7, 1904 in Unionville, MD the daughter of the late Jessie Calvin Walker and the late Lula Mae Beall Walker.
She was a retired LPN at Springfield State Hospital after 25 years and then later worked as a nurse at Sykesville Eldercare. She loved working in her flower garden and shopping. She was a homemaker. She will be missed deeply by her great grandchild Rachel.
She was the wife of the late James Edgar Pickett.
Mother of James Ellsworth Pickett and wife Irene of Westminster, Nancy L. Hand and husband Ernest of Bella Vista, Ark., Barbara J. Lewis and husband Donald of Thurmont and the late Doris Gosnell.
Dear sister of Louise Metz of Damascus, Evelyn Haywood of Arbutus, Helen Lueke of Catonsville and the late Earl Walker, late Jessie Monroe Walker and late Mike Walker.
Survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held Friday November 7, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with Pastor Tim Leaman from Calvary Baptist Church in Westminster officiating.
Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ed Reed, Don Lewis, Ernie Hand, Chuckie Carroll, Gary Watkins, Robbie Ferguson, and Tim Pridemore.

Mr. Blocher was born March 16, 1922 in Baltimore, MD
The son of the late William Lawrence and Late Eleanor Smyrk Blocher.
Mr. Blocher was a retired Sales Representative for the Nabisco Company. A veteran of the US Army Air Corp, a Member of Freedom Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Eldersburg, MD
Active in the Gideons and a member of Chapel Gate Presbyterian Church.
Surviving him are his sons: Charles H. Blocher, Jr. of Taneytown, MD Donald L. Blocher of Westminster, MD Bruce C. Blocher of Adamstown, MD, 2 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. A sister: Betsy Myers of Belair, MD

Fred E. “Gene” Harrison, Jr., age 71, of Woodbine, died Sunday November 16, 2003 at Carroll County General Hospital, Westminster, MD
He was born May 10, 1932 in Mt. Airy, Maryland, the son of the late Freddie Eugene Harrison, Sr. and the late Catherine Mary Harrison (nee Broderick).
He was a retired farmer. He was a Mule Expert, avid Coon Hunter, winning numerous awards, and a member of the American Coon Hunters Association.
He was the husband of Mary Sue Harrison (nee Reed).
Father of Sherry Harrison Baker of Citra, FL and Holly J. Harrison Frey of Mt. Airy.
Brother of Robert E. Harrison of Woodbine, Francis Edward (Johnnie) Harrison of Union Bridge, Helen H. Vaughn of Bel Air and Loretta M. Widerman of Sykesville.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews and numerous special friends.

She was born on June 30, 1914 in Falston, MD the daughter of the late E. Wilson Harkins and late Clara Shepard.
She was retired from A&P grocery store where she did accounting work.
Dearest Sister of the late Lourenna Oosterling and will be remembered by special friends Mr. Terry Lee Faggio and Mrs. Virginia Faggio.
Miss Harkins is a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Bel Air, MD.

Died Friday November 21, 2003 at Pleasant View Nursing Home.
He was the spouse of Nancy May Penn Moss.
Mr. Moss was born July 14, 1920 in Leesburg, VA the son of the late William Oscar and late Elizabeth Nell Peery Moss. Mr. Moss was a life long farmer in the Mt. Airy area. He also enjoyed Oil Painting.

Tabler of Westminster Great-Grandchildren: Rachel A. Tabler, Roger W. Tabler, III Also Survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by Daughter Billie Rose Tabler and Son; William Peery Moss.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday November 25, 2003 at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, 2927 Gillis Falls Rd., Mount Airy, MD 21771 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Terry Gordon the church Pastor officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olive United Methodist Church cemetery.
