Mary L. Saenz
SUDLERSVILLE - Mary L. Saenz of Sudlersville, formerly of Edgewater, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 at Anne Arundel Hospital. She was 80.
She was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Barrick Stanbach.
Her husband, Alberto Saenz, is deceased.
Mrs. Saenz is survived by three sons, Fred Belcher of Sudlersville, Roy Neal Belcher of Ocean City, Md., and David William Belcher of Summerfield, Fla.; two daughters, Kaaren Olds of Stevensville and Sarah Burleson of West Virginia; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great- grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 12 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Chester.
Burial will be in Crownsville Veterans cemetery
following the service on Friday at 1 p.m.

David E. Baynard
HARRINGTON, Del. - David Edward Baynard of Harrington died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998 at Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 50.
Born May 22, 1947, in Easton he was the son of Stanley Baynard of Henderson and the late Bessie Korrell Baynard.
He worked at Black and Decker as a specialist in machinery. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 534 of Harrington.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Wanda (Spence) Baynard of 29 years; three daughters, Kimberly Moss of Bridgeville, Del., Theresa Ernest of Milford, Del., and Tiffiney Baynard of Harrington; two brothers, Stanley Baynard of Dover, Del. and Charles Baynard of Henderson; a sister, Joyce Steele of Henderson; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1 at Fleegle-Helfenbein Funeral Home.
Burial was in Greensboro cemetery.
Charles E. Chapman
DENTON - Charles Edward Chapman of Denton died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998 at Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 72.
Born in Noble, Okla. on Nov. 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Trumond E. and Nora Robertson Chapman.
After graduating from Verdugo High School in California in 1943, he joined the Navy V-12 Program and was sent to Central Missouri State University where he studied until 1945. In 1946, he was sent to Northwestern University where he was commissioned in the Navy. He then went on to serve on a subchaser in Hawaii and as a captain of a weather ship in Guam. Following his release from active duty in 1948, he earned an aeronautical engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma. After graduation, he began flight testing for Lockheed. His proudest accomplishment was chairing the ICAO Airworthiness Committee for the United Nations. In 1955, he began working for the Federal Aviation Administration. In 1967, he and his family moved to Crofton, from the San Fernando Valley, Calif. area. In 1983, he took his retirement from the FAA and became a district representative for the Aid Association for Lutherans. He officially retired in 1991 when he moved to Denton.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Easton, and a former member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Crofton where he served in various positions including president. He was also on the Upper Shore Aging Council for Kent, Caroline and Talbot counties.
Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Elizabeth Thoreson, whom he married
on Dec. 28, 1945; two daughters, Eva Katherine Sarkisian of Wexford, Pa. and Challis Camomile of Simi Valley, Calif.; two sons, Ray Edward Chapman of Easton and Charles Chapman of Annapolis; three sisters, Eva Ferrera of Alta Loma, Calif., Winona Sawyer of Palm Dale, Calif. and Patricia Gray of Fullerton, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. A son, Thomas Chapman, is deceased.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Easton.
Burial was on Friday, Jan. 30 at 2:30 p.m. at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, Md.

William G. Hubbard
CAMBRIDGE - William G. Hubbard of Cambridge died Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was 91.
Born on Jan. 13, 1907 at Taylors Island he was the son of the late George Washington and Lula Woolford Hubbard.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He served as a delegate to the Maryland State Democratic Convention.
He attended public schools at Smithville. He worked for Phillips Packing Co., as plant manager at Factory "B". He later served in the same capacity at the Harrison and Jarboe Co., in Easton. He was a voting machine technician for the Dorchester County Board of Elections for 40 years. On May 24, 1935 he married
the former Virginia Lee Hurley.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by one daughter, Donna H. Rice; one son, William G. Hubbard Jr.; three grandchildren; one brother, Edgar J. Hubbard of Golden Hill; one sister, Thelma Wroten of Cambridge.
Four brothers, Calvin Hubbard, Woolford Hubbard, Sewell Hubbard, and Levin Hubbard; and two sisters, Grace Ruark and Lena Keene, are deceased.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Thomas Funeral Home, Cambridge.
Burial was be in Dorchester Memorial Park.
Edward R. Jolley
CAMBRIDGE - Edward Richard Jolley of Cambridge died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998 at the home of his uncle, William Maddox, Cambridge. He was 67.
Born on Sept. 30, 1931 in Cambridge he was the son of the late Willie Ritchie and Vashti Jolley.
He attended schools in Cambridge and received an undergraduate degree at Cheyney State College and a post graduate degree at Villanova University.
A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Jolley was employed for 20 years at the Naval Supply Depot and the Quartermaster. He worked for 27 years with the School District of Philadelphia. He also was an agent with the PrimeAmerica Insurance Co. and as part-time employee with the Philadelphia Tribune.
He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Cheyney Alumni Association and the Villanova Alumni Association.
He is survived by one daughter, Jada Pennick; and two granddaughters.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Johnson Funeral Home, Philadelphia, Pa. Burial was in Bethel cemetery, Cambridge.

J. Byers King
DENTON - J. Byers King of Denton, formerly of Cooperstown, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998 in Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. He was 90.
Born in Cooperstown, Pa., on Dec. 26, 1907, he was the son of the late Charles W. King and Theodosia Byers King.
He graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1923 and from Franklin, Pa., High School in 1924 and in June 1929 he graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa.
He taught high school math in the following schools in Pennsylvania: Endeaver, Rockland, Corsica, Rocky Grove, Townville and New Wilmington. In 1953 he came to Denton as a math teacher and coach, retiring in 1972.
After his retirement he served as the executive secretary of the Bayside Athletic Conference for 20 years. He also directed elementary school chess clubs for the Caroline Youth Commission of the Parks and Recreation Department. In July 1984 he received an award from the governor of Maryland for his active promotion of physical fitness activities among young people for 30 years.
He was a member of NRTA and the Maryland Retired Teachers Association, the Denton Lions Club and the Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown, Pa.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Dorothy King, whom he married
on Aug. 14, 1933; a son, Charles W. King of Dallas, Texas; five daughters, Mary Schreiber, Barbara Eaton and Virginia Kilmon, all of Easton, Ruth Anne Rader of Annapolis and Theda Henry of Denton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A sister, Katherine Wells, is deceased.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1 at Moore Funeral Home, Denton. Burial was in Denton cemetery, Denton.
