Roberta A. Kutlik, 61, died Wednesday June 23, 2004 at her home in Sykesville, MD

She was the spouse of Joseph “Ed” Kutlik of Sykesville.

She was born August 24, 1942 in Banner Elk, NC the daughter of the Anne Lucille Gragg Peter and husband the late Walter J. Peters.

Mrs. Kutlik worked as a social worker for Baltimore County until 1981 before moving to England where she was involved in various civic and social organizations.

Funeral Services will be conducted at First United Presbyterian Church, 65 Washington Rd. Westminster, MD 21157 on Monday June 28, 2004 10 :00 AM with Rev. Walter W. Peters Officiating.

Interment will be in St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church cemetery, Libertytown, MD

The Family will receive friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 on Saturday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM and on Sunday from 2 – 4 PM.

Hilda Louise Poole Biden 74, of Mt. Airy, MD
1929 - 2004

Hilda Louise Poole Biden, 74, died Thursday July 8, 2004 at her home in Mt. Airy. She was the wife of the late Joseph John Biden whom she married January 22, 1949 in Lansdowne, MD. Mrs. Biden was born August 2, 1929 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Wesley Edgar and Nettie Elizabeth Porter Poole.

Mrs. Biden was a homemaker who loved to craft, cook, can, read and sew costumes for the grandchildren. She was a dear friend, supporter and caretaker to many neighbors, friends and “adopted” family members.

Surviving her are: daughter: Jo Ann L. Beck of Mt. Airy, John J. Biden of Westminster, Thomas W. Biden of Hampstead, and Kevin W. Biden of Mt. Airy. Sister: Mildred E. Willhide of Westminster. 5 Grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She was preceded in death by sister Pearl N. Keister and brother Alva R. Poole.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday July 13, 2004 11:00 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. Dennis Yocum of Calvary United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy, MD officiating.

Inurnment will be private

The family will receive friends on Monday for 2- 4 and 7-9 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A.

Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County PO Box 1799 Frederick, MD 21702.

Robert M. Svendsen 89, of Sykesville, MD
1914 - 2004

Robert M. Svendsen, age 89, of Sykesville, formerly of Portland, OR, died Wednesday July 14, 2004 at Golden Age Guest Home in Sykesville, MD

He was born December 14, 1914 in Portland, Oregon, the son of the late Christian Svendsen and the late Matilda Svendsen (nee Moritz).

Graduate of Franklin High School, Portland, OR. Served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a Dairyman for Western Creamery in Portland Oregon for over 30 years. Retired as a handyman for Marquils Jewelers in Portland Oregon. Lived in Sykesville, MD since November 2001.

Interests: Clackamas County Master Gardeners, member Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Scoutmaster for a Boys Scout Troop in Portland Oregon, reading.

He was the husband of the late Alice M. Svendsen (nee Montgomery), whom died September 5, 2001.

Father of Robert L. Svendsen and his wife Phyllis L. Svendsen of Sykesville, MD

Grandfather of Christian E. Svendsen of Front Royal, VA, and Andrea A. Svendsen of Birmingham, AL

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday July 20, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Peake Memorial Chapel, 1925 S. E. Scott St., Milwaukie, OR with the Rev. Amy Overton-Harris of Trinity U.M. Church in Portland, OR officiating.

Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery, Portland, OR.

The family requests that donations be made to the Trinity U.M. Church, Building Fund, 3915 S. E. Steel, Portland, OR 97202 in lieu of flowers.

Frank Eugene Henry 82, of Baltimore, MD
1922 - 2004

Mr. Frank Eugene Henry, a retired assistant vice-president of Verizon, died on July 20th of heart disease. He was 82.

Mr. Henry was born and raised in Baltimore. After graduation from Forest Park High School, he went to work for C. & P. Telephone Co. in the cable department. He enlisted in the Army Signal Corps in 1942 and served in North Africa and the European Theater during World War II. He was discharged in December 1945.

He returned to the Telephone Co. working in installation and repair. He spent the rest of his career working in southern Maryland, Baltimore City in the commercial department, Washington, DC, and Group Headquarters in various positions. He retired in June 1982 as Asst. Vice President, Training, having been with C. & P. for 41 years.

Mr. Henry was very active in church and community organizations both in Silver Spring where he lived for 22 years and in Ellicott City for the last 19 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Olevia Eitemiller Henry, two daughters, Nancy H. Lewis and Deborah H. Carty, two son-in-laws, Donn Lewis and Thomas Carty, and three grandsons, Brian and Jordan Lewis and Kevin Carty.

The Family will receive Friends at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A. on Thursday July 22, 2004 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM.

Services will be held at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD on Friday morning at 10:00.

In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to Glen Mar United Methodist Church, 8430 Glen Mar Rd. Ellicott City, MD 21043

Thelma Louise Jenkins 90, of Fairhaven in Sykesville, MD
1913 - 2004

Thelma L. Jenkins, 90, died Wednesday July 21, 2004 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD

Born September 8, 1913 in Woodbine, She was the daughter of the late George W. and Late Carrie M. Bloom Condon. She was the wife of James “Jim” A. Jenkins, who died in 1986. She had retired from Springfield Hospital Center where she was a Licensed Practical Nurse and Later worked in the Rehabilitation Department as an Occupational Therapist. She was a member of Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church in Woodbine, MD.

Surviving are Daughters Joan A. Jennings of Deltonia Florida and Dorothy L. Brown of Sykesville, Brother Ralph Condon of Woodbine, 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren and Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Arthur S. Condon, Sister Dorothy M. Arrington and a grandson Scott M. Jennings.

Funeral Services will be held of Saturday July 24, 2004 11:00 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. Fielder Israel, Chaplin of Fairhaven officiating. Interment will be in Morgan Chapel cemetery, Woodbine, MD

Aaron C. Perkins, Sr. 90, of Westminster, MD
1913 - 2004

Aaron C. Perkins, Sr., 90, died on Friday July 23, 2004 at the Casey House in Rockville, MD and previously living for 5 months at the Golden Years Group Home. Mr. Perkins was the spouse of the late Inez Dotson Perkins. Mr. Perkins was born October 28, 1913 in Sykesville MD the son of the late William and Amanda Austin Perkins.

Mr. Perkins received his education at the White Rock School in Sykesville. He retired from the United States Army in 1945 and served in WWII. Mr. Perkins worked at Neumann Bookstore in Westminster part time and was a postman in Westminster for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Perkins retired from the post office in 1978. He is a member of Fairview UMC in Taylorsville, MD He enjoyed reading, working around his house and visiting with family and friends. He was a devoted husband, Father, grandfather and friend. His example was an inspiration to all who knew him. Surviving him are his children Aaron C. Perkins, Jr. and wife Yvonne of Randallstown, Larry Perkins of Arizona, Terry Perkins of Rockville, Wayne Perkins and Wife Gladys of Westminster, Jacqueline and husband Tommy W. Dorsey, III of Damascus, 7 Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a great niece and a host of other relatives. Mr. Perkins is preceded in death by his children, Jackie Ann and Brian Perkins. 4 Sisters and 1 Brother.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday July 27, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Fairview U.M Church, Old Liberty Rd. and Roop Rd. Taylorsville, MD with The Rev. Dr. Lloyd Marcus officiating. Interment will follow in Garrison Forest Veterans cemetery, Garrison, MD

Herman William Keller 80, of Finksburg, MD
1924 - 2004

Herman W. Keller (Shorty), 80, died Sunday July 25, 2004 at his daughter’s home in Finksburg. He was the spouse of Alice Emma Cookson Keller. He was born February 5, 1924 in Moundsville, West Virginia the son of the late William Keller and late Myrtle M. Kinney Keller.

He worked as a farmer throughout his life.

Mr. Keller served in the army during WWII as a Sgt. in the 168th Engineer Combat Battalion and in the Battle of Normandy. He is a member of Mt. Airy American Legion Gold Star Post 191.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are Daughter and son-in-law Linda and Mike Watts of Virginia, Son and Daughter-in-law Raymond and Debbie Keller of Mt. Airy., Daughter: Kathryn J. Keller of Finksburg, Daughter and son-law Barbara K. and Sam Duvall of Mt. Airy. Brother Late Lindsey E. Keller

Also survived by 6 Grandchildren: Lisa Farley, John Keller, Ray Keller, Jr., David Watts, Matthew Watts and Chris Duvall 3 Great Grandchildren: Shawn McCauley, Richard Farley, Robert Farley. 2 Great-Great Grandchildren Caitlyn Keller and Morgan Watts.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday July 28, 2004 7:30 Pm at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A. with Rev. David Highfield officiating. Followed by an American Legion Memorial Service.

1923 - 2004

Joel S. Chewning (nee Storie), age 81, of New Windsor, formerly of Woodlawn died Sunday August 1, 2004 surrounded by her loving family at Westminster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westminster.

She was born May 26, 1923 in Dayton, TN.

She was a Legal Secretary since graduating from High School. She was employed by Venable, Batcher, and Howard prior to her retirement in 1988.

She was the wife of Hershel F. Chewning of New Windsor-living, married in November 1942.

She was the mother of Stephen E. Chewning and his wife Donna of New Windsor.

Loving grandmother of two granddaughters Kristine Poorman and Keri Aponte and survived also by two great grandsons Will and Tyler.

Graveside Service and Inurnment will be on Tuesday August 3, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Woodlawn cemetery in Woodlawn, MD, officiating by Fr. John Wilbur of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Lisbon

She was born May 3, 1936 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Jacob Wilson Jenkins and the late Eleanor Jenkins (nee Pletzer).

She was a homemaker and a manicurist. She loved shopping, dancing and oil painting.

Devoted Mother of Susan Dawn Hunt and her husband Walter Richard of New Windsor.

Dear sister of Marlene McCarthy of PA and the late Betty Alfred.

Loving grandmother of Christopher Richard Hunt and Shannon Dawn Hunt.

She was born March 3, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland the daughter of Edward Richard Brueck and the late Catherine Marion Brueck (nee Plitt).

She was a Radiological Technologist for 37 years. She was a member of Carroll Community Church.

She was the husband of James L. Steimel.

She was the mother of Karen Michelle Steimel of Westminster.

Daughter in law of Olevia Grace Steimel of Towson and the late Fred A. Steimel.

Sister of Edward Richard Brueck, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Columbia, MD.

Aunt of Justine F. Brueck and Stephanie L. Steimel.

Sister in law of Stephen R. Steimel and Wife Linda J.

Memorial Service will be held at Winfield Bible Church, 5407 Woodbine Road Woodbine, MD 21797 on Tuesday August 10, 2004 at 7:00 P.M., with the Pastor Joe Duke of Carroll Community Church officiating.
