1929 - 2005

Joseph Eugene Cook, 75, of Winfield, MD, died Monday January 31, 2005 at Carroll Hospital Center after giving up his fight for life. Mr. Cook was born October 7, 1929 the 2nd of 10 children. He was the son of the late Edward Luther Cook and Eugenia Chase Cook. He was educated in Carroll County Schools He then ventured to Cooksville, MD for a short time. Then he moved to Winfield MD where he has spent most of his life until a few months when he became a resident at Continuum Care in Sykesville. Over the years Joe had multiple odd jobs including Sod Work, Farming and Cement and Black topping. His hobbies include; gardening, hunting and working with machinery.

He leaves behind his long time friend and companion Ms. Edna Bowman and their 2 Children Phyllis Elizabeth Cook and Joseph Eugene Cook, Jr. of Winfield. He also will live in memory of four of Ms. Bowman’s children: David Bowman, Donnie Bowman, Bobby Bowman and Ruth Bowman. Four Sisters: Carolyn Norris and Shirley Bracey of Sykesville, Annette King of Winfield and Mary Jones of Baltimore, 2 brothers: Edward Cook, Jr. and Melvin cook both of Sykesville. Also survived by 1 granddaughter Najree Williams 2 brother-in-laws, 3 Sister in-laws and a host of nieces nephews relatives and friends. He is predeceased by sister: Anna Smith, Brothers: William and Donald Cook and stepson Douglas Bowman

A special recognition goes to Mr. Earl Bowman who on a daily basis visited Joes home during his illness.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 5, 2005 at 11:00 AM at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Taylorsville, MD.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 Am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Cook’s memory to Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784

Eleanor Louise Johnson Frizzell 68, of Mt. Airy, MD
1937 - 2005

Eleanor Louise Johnson Frizzell, 68 of Mt. Airy, MD, died Monday January 31, 2005 at Washington Hospital Center. She was the spouse of William H. Frizzell for over 45 years. She was born January 11, 1937 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of Ruth Johnson and the late Walter M. Johnson, Sr.

She had worked for Hutzler’s Department Store in Ellicott City and also for Mt. Airy Sewing Company for 30 years was a housekeeper for Mr. And Mrs. Richardson.

Mrs. Frizzell was a member of Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed taking Bus Trips.

She is survived by Daughter and Son-in-law Terry and Kenneth Hamby of Rouzerville, PA, Daughter: Sherry and Albert Musgrove of Mt. Airy. Grandchildren: Edward Cason the 3rd of Mt. Airy and Melissa Caslow of Taneytown. Great Grandson :Brian Hunter Blackburn of Taneytown. Brother and Sister-in-law Walter and Gail Johnson of Mesa, AZ and Brother and Sister-in-law Milton (Butch) Johnson of Long Beach, CA. Sister: Oralie Mueller of Baltimore. Brother-in-law and sister-in-laws: Kenneth and Rosalee Frizzell of Westminster and Robert and Sue Frizzell of Mt. Airy. Predeceased by Brother John Johnson.

Funeral Services will take place on Friday February 5, 2005 10 Am at BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREAMATORY, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. with the Rev. Lisa Bandel-Sparks of Lisbon UMC in Lisbon. Interment will be in Prospect cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD

Pall Bearers are: Thomas Esworthy, Eric McIntosh, Carry McIntosh, James Baker, Gerald Bennett and William Caslow.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM

Albert L. Buckingham 84, of Winfield, MD
1920 - 2005

Albert L Buckingham, 84 of Winfield, MD, died Tuesday February 1, 2005 at his home with family.

He was married for 58 years to Ruth Hoff Buckingham.

Mr. Buckingham was born October 22, 1920 in Winfield, MD the son of the late Willie Fenton Buckingham and late Carrie Leatherwood Buckingham.

Mr. Buckingham was a former farmer and retired from Congoleum Industries in 1983 after 23 ½ years. He was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Winfield. He was a 40 year Charter Member of Winfield Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Carroll County Fire Police.

Surviving besides his wife are son and daughter-in-law A. Wayne and Faye Buckingham of Frederick. Son: Galen Buckingham of Winfield. Daughter and Son-in-law Ruthann and Ernie Pittinger of Winfield. Grandson: Bryan Pittinger and wife Evie of Elizabethtown, PA. Granddaughter: Stacy Baxter and husband Stephen of Frederick.

Sister and brother-in-law Thelma and Charles Mann of Westminster, Sister-in-law Ethel Buckingham of Eldersburg. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by Sisters: Myrtle Muller, Edith Deardorff, Rosa Crumbacker, Brothers: Chester Buckingham and Floyd Buckingham.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 5, 2005 2:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.

Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, MD

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3 PM until 9 PM. There will be a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM by the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department.

Henry Dent Willis 73, of Sykesville, MD
1931 - 2005

Henry Dent Willis, age 73, of Sykesville, Died Friday February 4, 2005 at his home.

He was born June 5, 1931 in Richmond, VA., the son of the late Rev. Henry Leslie Willis and the late Jovotte Dent Willis.

He was a Claims Adjuster/Supervisor for various Insurance Companies. He loved to hunt, fish and read and bird watching. He was a member of the National Rife Association. He served in the Navy from 6/18/48-8/17/50.

Beloved husband of Betsy Gay Willis married for 52 years

Devoted father of Valerie L. Wilhite of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Henry G. Willis of Canton, Georgia, and Guy David Willis of Navarre, FL.

Brother of Barbara Ann Murphy of Burgaw, NC.

Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

1932 - 2005

Wilmer Jack Fitzwater, age 72, of New Windsor, died Sunday February 6, 2005 at his home.

He was born December 2, 1932 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Wilmer George Fitzwater and the late Catherine A. Fitzwater (nee Butler ).

He was the husband of Lorraine A. Fitzwater (nee Shipe). Married 47 years.

He was raised in Lansdowne, MD and then lived in Randallstown till entering the Army and stationed in Germany from 1951-1953. He was a Machine Operator for Western Electric Co. in Baltimore for 22 years. He was very active in Seventh Day Adventist church for many years, loved Bible Studies with inmates at Laundry Facility at Springfield Hospital after retirement he painted and renovated homes and did repair work in the New Windsor area. He was a member of Reisterstown Seventh Day Adventist. He loved gardening.

Loving father of daughter Donna Fitzwater and Larry Devilbiss of New Windsor, daughter Doris and Ed Bowen of Westminster, daughter Carole and Marty Spielman of New Windsor and son Darrin Fitzwater of Finksburg.

Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Dear brother of Dawn Zepp of Westminster and Bruce Fitzwater of Westminster and the late Joan Cutsail.

David Charles Griffith, 75 of Granite, MD died February 25, 2005 at his home. He was the spouse of Betty Mae Williamson Griffith. He was born December 14, 1929 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Charles H. Griffith and late Anna Mallonee Griffith. He was retired from the state of MD where he was a Budget Officer. Mr. Griffith received 2 Bachelors Degrees from the University of Baltimore. He served in the US Navy on a submarine out of New London during the Korean War. He enjoyed Fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law: Earl D. and Tammy Griffith of Granite, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Linda Griffith of Delta, PA, Son and daughter-in-law Dale C and Susan Griffith of Hanover, PA

Grandchildren; Angela Monroe Griffith, Dawn, Amber, and Logan Griffith. Great-grandson: Shane Monroe

Memorial Services will be conducted at Granite Presbyterian Church, 10637 Old Court Rd. Woodstock, MD 21163. On Thursday March 3, 2005 10 AM with the Rev. Jan Trammell-Savin Officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

1961 - 2005

Cathy Sue Johnson-Meachum, 43 of Woodbine, MD died Thursday February 24, 2005 at her home in Woodbine.

She was born September 29, 1961 in Chesapeake, VA the daughter of the late Luther Merle Meachum and the late Vernell “Faye” Gordon Meachum.

She worked as a secretary for Kinna Contractors and also as a bartender at The Friendly Inn in Ellicott City. She enjoyed playing bingo and liked Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

Surviving her are daughter and son-law Crystal and Jason Jackman of Woodbine, 2 Grandchildren Morgan Faye and Taylor Nicole Jackman of Woodbine, Sister: Lisa Baker of Woodbine. Brother Tom Meachum of Taneytown. Brother Charles Meachum of CA. Also survived by special friend Drew Higgins of Sykesville and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends will be held Wednesday March 2, 2005 3-5 PM at Winfield Volunteer Fire Department, 1320 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784.

He was the spouse of Shirley Yvonne Harrison Dubbert

He was born May 15, 1938 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Ethel Rill Dubbert and late William F. Dubbert, Sr.

Mr. Dubbert had worked for General Motors and Owned service stations in Lisbon and also Pine Orchard. And also worked for Turf Valley Golf course in several maintenance capacities. He is survived by Son: Sterling William Dubbert, Sr of Woodbine. Son: David Allen Dubbert of Woodbine. Sister: Angela Pond of Towson. Sister: Susan Buckworth of Westminster. Brother: Dennis Dubbert of Elkridge.

Grandchildren: Sterling William Dubbert, Jr. of Santa Clara, CA.

He was born February 6, 1949 in McCool, MD the son of Roy Clifton Mills of Silver Run and the late Violet Virginia Lease Mills.

He was a Plumber.

He was the husband of Barbara Anne Mills (nee Yost) for 31 years.

He was the father of Christopher Robin Mills of Westminster, Joshua Allen Mills of Eldersburg and Melissa Ann Mills Rodriguez of Texas.

Also survived by 1 brother, 6 sisters, 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 2 brothers.
