Donald C. Spurrier, Sr. age 79 of Baltimore, died Saturday December 24, 2005 at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, MD.

He was born June 4, 1926 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Harry R. Spurrier and late Ethel B. Spurrier (nee Dennis).

He was a retired factory worker for Proctor & Gamble. He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church.

He was the husband of Doretta L. Spurrier (nee Loats)

Father of Donald C. Jr., Dennis W. and David M. Spurrier.

Also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday December 28, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Arlington Baptist Church, 3030 North Rolling Road, with the Rev. Ryan Dupee officiating.

Interment will be in Lorraine Park cemetery

Friends may call at Arlington Baptist Church on Tuesday 3-5 & 7-9 PM.

Memorial Contribution can be made to Arlington Baptist Church, C/O Apartment Boiler Fund, 3030 N. Rolling Road, Baltimore, MD 21244.

Harold Kent Harris, Sr. 64, of Mt. Airy, MD
1941 - 2005

Harold Kent Harris, Sr., age 64, of Mt. Airy, formerly of Unionville, died Monday December 26, 2005 at Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, MD.

He was born February 14, 1941 in Woodsboro, MD the son of the late Scott David Harris and the late Irene Jenkins Harris.

He worked for the Frederick Housing Authority as a maintenance plumber. He was a part time farmer.

He was the father of Roxanne Harris Slick and husband Robert of Unionville, and Harold K. Harris, Jr. and Deborah of Woodsboro.

Three grandsons: Michael Harris, Andrew Harris and Sean Harris of Woodsboro.

Brother of James Harris of Rocky Ridge, Thelma Michaels of Emmitsburg, Wilson Harris of Eastern Shore, Wanda May of Timberville, VA, Glen Harris of Frederick, Martha Cooley of Frederick and the late Homer David Harris, late Iva May Koontz and late Florabelle Nusbaum.

Funeral Service will be held Friday December 30, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School), with Rev. L. Ross Kirk officiating.

Interment will be in Rocky Hill cemetery, Woodsboro, MD.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. on Thursday From 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

Mignon L. Sears 41, of Greenbelt, MD
1932 - 2005

Mignon Lynn Sears, 41 of Greenbelt, MD, died Saturday December 24, 2005

She was the fiancé of Carl Lawson of South Carolina.

She was born June 13, 1964 in Arlington, VA the daughter of Raymond Aubrey Sears and Pamelyn berry Kline.

Ms. Sears enjoyed Fishing and Boating and having a good time.

Surviving her in addition to her fiancé and parents are Sons: Sonny and Daniel Eustace both of Montgomery Village., Sister: Allyson Sparrow of Sykesville and Step-son: Scott Eustace of Germantown.

Memorial Services will be held Monday January 2, 2006 at 1:00 PM a t Burrier-Queen Funeral Home And Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784 with the Rev. Monroe Wright officiating.

Nowlin S. Phillips 90, of Hanover, PA
1915 - 2005

Mr. Nowlin Strawsburg Phillips, 90, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Ellicott City and Eldersburg, Md. died after a long illness of cancer on December 30, 2005, at his home surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Nowlin was the youngest of five children, born on December 18, 1915 to the late Noah W. and Josephine (Watkins) Phillips of Long Corner, Md.

He graduated from Mt. Airy High School in 1934. From 1940 until his retirement in 1980 he worked in Baltimore for A.D.T. Alarm Systems.

He loved attending church, listening to Dr. Charles Stanley sermons, square dancing, playing cards, attending Blue Grass Assoc. in Sykesville, flying to visit granddaughters and their families in San Diego, Ca. and Jaffrey, Nh. He took pride in mowing his own and his son’s lawn and growing beautiful roses and tomatoes.

He was a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Sykesville, Md.

He was the adoring husband of Hattie Belle (Lugenbeel) Phillips for 63 years who preceded him in death on November 21, 2002.

He is survived by one daughter, Ruth Waskey of Essex, Md., three sons, Dr. R. Wayne Phillips of Hanover, Pa., Richard N. Phillips of Catonsville, Md., and Paul W. Phillips of Allentown, Pa., 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Burrier Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Old liberty Road, Winfield, MD 21784.

Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 2, 2006 at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Roland (Bud) Brown of St. Paul United Methodist Church, of Sykesville, Md. officiating.

Interment immediately following at Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery, Woodbine, Md.

Edith M. Porter Franklin 80, Formerly of Woodbine, MD
1922 - 2002

Died Wednesday January 15th 2003 at Carroll County General Hospital.

She was the spouse of the late Truman Lee Franklin.

She was born November 22, 1922 in Woodbine, MD

The daughter of the late Harry Francis Porter and the late Flossie Hood Porter.

She was retired from Hartz Manufacturing Company.

Surviving her are Daughter: Dorothy Franklin of Winfield, Son Eugene Franklin of Winfield, and Son and Daughter-in-law Ronnie and Paula Franklin Of Taneytown.

Sister : Louise German of Ellicott City Granddaughter: Sharon Benge of Westminster and Great grandchildren Crystal and Jesse Benge of Westminster.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday January 18, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Rd. Winfield, MD 21784

Interment will be in Taylorsville cemetery, Taylorsville, MD

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday 2 to 4 and 7-9 PM

Henry C. Shade, Sr. 68, of Granite, MD
1934 - 2003

Henry C. Shade, Sr., age 68, of Granite, MD., died Thursday January 16, 2003 at Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown, MD.

He was born March 8, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of the late John G. Shade and the late Eleanor B. Watkins Shade.

He was a retired self-employed Auto mechanic.

He was a member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge #93 A.F. & A.M.

He was a former member of the Randallstown-Liberty Exchange Club.

He was the husband of Cookie E. Shade (nee Minor).

He was the father of Christina Blucher, Henry C. Shade, Jr., Dolly Link and Gary W. Shade.

Brother of Eva Timchula and Eleanor Shade.

Also survived by 9 grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Monday January 20, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD (Beside South Carroll High School) with the Rev. Margaret "Peggy" Ferguson of Granite Presbyterian Church in Granite officiating.

Interment will be in Granite Presbyterian Church cemetery, Granite, MD.

Friends may call at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home on Sat. 7-9 and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

There will also be a Corinthian Masonic Lodge #93 A.F. & A.M. Service Sunday at 8:00 PM and a Eastern Star #100 Parkville Service Sunday at 7:30 PM.

Vallie Esther Davis 67, of Woodbine, MD
1935 - 2003

Died Saturday January 19, 2003 at the home of her son Robert after an extended illness.

Born on April 7, 1935 in Randolph County West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Luther J. & Opal (Tingler) Summerfield.

She was the wife of the late William Harvey Davis III

A graduate of Howard Community College, Vallie was a registered nurse employed at Springfield State Hospital until her retirement.

Surviving are:

Daughter & Son-in-Law : Rose Ann Davis Kraft and George Kraft of Jessup, Md.
Son : William H Davis IV of California Md.
Son & Daughter-in-Law: Robert H. & Claudia Davis of Woodbine, Md.
Grandson : Christopher Newman of Jessup, Md.
Brother: Luther H. Summerfield of Cedar Creek, Mo.
Sisters: Nancy Johnson of Randallstown, Md.

Mary Fillipelli of Beaver Falls, Pa.

Jane Golliday of Aurora, W.V.

There will be no public visitation. Graveside services will be held at Oak Grove cemetery, Rt. 97 & Union Chapel Rd., Glenwood, Md. at 10:00 AM on Tuesday January 21, 2003.
