Sweeney, Vivian S., 82, of Boyds, Maryland, on Tuesday November 5, 2002.
Wife of the late Edward K. Sweeney.
Surviving are her daughters; Linda Hobbs and husband Jonnie, Christie Murphy and husband Patrick and two granddaughters; Kelly Rowe and Kerry Hobbs.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday November 14 at 11am at the Christ Episcopal Church, 107 S. Washington St., Rockville, MD.

Mr. William "Bill" Lowe Bladen, Sr.
William "Bill" L. Bladen, Sr., 61, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, died on Wednesday November 6, 2002 at his residence.
Born on August 4, 1941 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Thomas Costello and Laura Shreve Bladen.
Surviving are his children; William L. Bladen, Jr., Kevin W. Bladen both of Sharpsburg, Maryland, Jenniffer Joann Bladen of Frederick, Maryland, three sisters; Pleasant Shoemaker of Jefferson, Maryland, Margie Grebler of New Jersey, Harriet Healeand of Frederick, Maryland, two brothers; Curtis Bladen and Ronnie Bladen both of Mt. Airy, Maryland, 4 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Mr. Bladen is also survived by his ex-wife, Jill Joann Hall of Frederick, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; Thomas Bladen, Jr. and Don Russel Bladen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 9 at 12 noon at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, Maryland with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Sunshine, Maryland.
Miss Sharon E. Raugh
Sharon E. Raugh, 30, of Rockville, died on Wednesday February 5 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville of complications related to cancer.
Born on September 26, 1972 in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of Catherine V. Raugh of Poolesville and the late Dennis H. Raugh.
A 1990 graduate of Poolesville High School she had an Associates in Arts Degree from Montgomery Community College and was employed as a paralegal at the Rockville firm of Greenberg, Spence and Taylor at the time of her death. She enjoyed needlework and music, science fiction, renaissance fairs and was a consultant for PartyLite candle company.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her maternal grandmother Catherine Kissel of Florida; brothers Michael Raugh of Laurel, John Raugh of Frederick; sisters Anne Raugh of Frederick, Connie Raugh of Germantown, Mary Raugh of Poolesville; nephews Adam, Ian and Benjamin Raugh of Laurel; niece Sarah Raugh of Laurel and many aunts and uncles.
Family will receive friends on Saturday February 8 from 1-4pm at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 17230 Tom Fox Ave., Poolesville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday February 10 at 12 noon.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church cemetery, Barnesville.
Mr. Wayne Robert Hazel
Wayne R. Hazel, 68, of Rockville, MD, formerly of Fredericksburg, VA, died on Friday January 31, 2003 at Collingswood Nursing Center in Rockville, MD.
He was the father of Karen Vassallo, Janet Burch and David Hazel, brother of Mary Jean Clayton and Elizabeth Pozarek, grandfather of Alexander and Nicholas Vassallo.
Family will receive friends on Monday February 3 from3-5 and 7-9 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD,
where funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 4 at 11am.
Interment will be in National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA.

Mrs. Gayle E. Morgan
Gayle E. Morgan, 75, of Dickerson, MD, died on Thursday January 30 at the Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville, MD.
Memorial services were held on Saturday February 1 at her residence in Dickerson.
Mr. Earle L. Vail
Earle L. Vail, 94, of Gaithersburg, died on Wednesday January 29 at the Wilson Health Care Center in Gaithersburg.
He was the husband of Aida Elizabeth Vail.
Born in Rileyville, Pennsylvania, on February 19, 1908, he was the son of the late James Leslie and Retta Pethick Vail.
Mr. Vail owned and operated a farm near Boyds, MD from 1951 until 1996, at which time he and his wife Aida, moved to Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg.
Mr. Vail was a graduate of Gettysburg College. He received a Masters degree in History from the University of Pittsburgh and did pre-Doctoral work at George Washington University.
Mr. Vail was a high school teacher in the District of Columbia Public Schools from 1937 until 1970, teaching primarily at McKinley, Capitol Page and Coolidge High Schools. While at McKinley High, he coached the debating team to city-wide honors, at Capitol Page School, he advised the student newspaper and at Coolidge High, he was the school yearbook advisor. From 1929 to 1937 he taught in Bruin, Pennsylvania.
He was an elder of the Eckington Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC and later at the Boyds Presbyterian Church. At Boyds he was also Clerk of Session for 22 years, served as Superintendent of the Sunday School and was General Chairman of the campaign for construction of the Christian Education Building.
Mr. Vail was very active in the Boyds Civic Association and the Seneca Creek Watershed Association. He also participated for many years in a program preparing tax returns of the elderly.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Vernon L. Vail of Clarksburg, Keith R. Vail of Boyds, Roger E. Vail of Columbia, one daughter, Janet E. Vail of Boyds, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carryl and Merritt Vail.
Family will receive friends on Friday January 31 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD .
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday February 1 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds 20841
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boyds Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Priscilla Rae Smith
Priscilla R. Smith, 25, of Dickerson, died suddenly on Friday January 17 as the result of a car accident.
She was the wife of Ernie Smith of Poolesville.
Born on January 16, 1978 in Ventura, California, she was the daughter of John and Kathleen Watson of Poolesville.
Surviving besides her husband and parents are one son, Austin Smith, two sisters, Lydia Watson of Poolesville, Amanda Watson of Dickerson, her maternal grandparents, Ray and Eleaner Douglas of West Virginia, paternal grandparents, Jesse W. and Grace U. Watson of Pennsylvania, an aunt, Linda Rice of Poolesville, aunt and uncle, Theresa and Ray Douglas of Poolesville, cousins, Autumn, Glenn and Johnny Rice, Ray Ray and Jesse Douglas and niece, Arianna McDonald.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday January 21 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, where the family will be receiving friends at 12 noon.
Interment will be in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers the family is excepting donations towards the funeral expenses.
Mrs. Judith D. "Judy" Parks
Judith D. "Judy" Parks, 54, of Mt. Airy, died on Thursday January 16, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.
She was the wife of James Kelly Parks, Sr.
Born on August 27, 1948 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Delton M. and Barbara L. Hahn Haines.
Mrs. Parks enjoyed gardening, decorating, watching TV and socializing with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Surviving besides her husband are her children, Lisa M. Stern of New Market, James K. Parks, Jr. of Mt. Airy, two sisters, Nancy Boykin of South Carolina, Patricia Hodson of Germantown, three brothers, Delton Haines, Jr. of Hyattsville, Wayne Haines and Raymond Haines both of Germantown, three grandchildren, Keiana L., Forrest J. and Ty H. Stern.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Larry Daines.
Family will receive friends on Monday January 20 from 7-9 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD .

Mr. Earl C. Gravley, Sr.
Earl C. Gravley, Sr., 69, of Knoxville, died Wednesday January 15 at the Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore.
He was the husband of Betty Gravley.
Born on May 10, 1933 in Poolesville, he was the son of the late Hosley and Clarice Whisman Gravley.
Surviving besides his wife are three children, Earl Gravley, Jr. of Knoxville, Dennis Gravley of Boonsboro, Deborah Bond of Williamsport, three sisters, Stella Nunemaker of Thurmont, Martha Sexton of West Virginia, Edith Fowler of Dickerson, two brothers, Ralph Gravley of Alabama, Ernest Gravley of Barnesville, 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Gravley, one brother, Hosley Gravley, Jr. and 3 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday January 19 from 7-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville where funeral services will be held on Monday January 20 at 11am.
Interment will be in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
Mr. Scott Rafe
Scott Rafe, 41, of Poolesville, MD died Saturday January 11 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD.
He was the husband of Mai Rafe.
Born on August 12, 1961 in Neptune, New Jersey, he was the son of Stephen Rafe of Virginia and Anita Danko of Tyaskin, MD.
Surviving besides his wife and parents are two sons, Vince and Peter Rafe of Poolesville, MD, one sister, Pamela Borges of New Jersey and his step father, David Van de Pol.
Funeral services will be held at 2:15pm on Wednesday January 15 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD, where the family will be receiving friends at 1:15pm. A cremation will follow the funeral service.

Mrs. Louise C. Ardle
Louise C. Ardle, 75, of Damascus, died on Friday January 10, 2003 at the College View Nursing Center in Frederick.
She was the wife of John E. Ardle, Jr.
Born on November 15, 1927 in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Mary Himes Short.
Surviving besides her husband is one son, Colin Ardle of Myersville.
