Mrs. Ina V. Haines

Ina V. Haines, 72, of Germantown, MD, died on Friday January 10, 2003 at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.
Born on December 3, 1930, in Bergton, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Herman M. and Nellie Cullers Fitzwater.
Mrs. Haines loved reading, gardening, canning and watching TV. She was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School and worked for Giant Food Store for 29 years as a deli clerk.
Surviving are her children; Betty Jean Carpenter and husband Joe of Rockville, Robert O. Haines and wife Diane of Silver Spring, John E. Haines and wife Vicky of Frederick, three brothers; Kevin Fitzwater of Frederick, Herman Fitzwater and wife Lucille of Hagerstown, Armer Fitzwater and wife Pat of Mt. Airy, two sisters; Mary Virts and husband Arthur of Boyds, Loretta Jeffers of Walkersville, two grandchildren; Stephanie and Rachel Haines and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will also be remembered by her former husband, Otis E. Haines.
She was preceded in death by one son, Otis E. Haines, Jr. and one sister, Vada Stottlemyer.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday January 14 from 6-9 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 15 at 11am.
Interment will be in Boyds Presbyterian Church cemetery, Boyds, MD.

Mrs. Debra Sue Gogniat

Debra S. Gogniat, 37, of Frederick, died on Monday March 31, 2003 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick.
She was the former wife of John Gogniat of Frederick.
Born on May 24, 1965 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Jeraldine Ford Clift.
Surviving besides her former husband are three children; Heather Gogniat, John Gogniat, Jr., Chris Swanson all of Frederick and four brothers; Mike Clift of Keedysville, Albert Clift of Frederick, David Clift of Hagerstown and Ray Clift of Myersville.
Family will receive friends on Friday April 4 from 7-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, where funeral services will be held on Saturday April 5 at 10:30am.
A cremation will follow the funeral service.

Mrs. Eva L. Lynch

Eva L. Lynch, 96, of Middletown, formerly of Myersville and Kensington, died on Saturday March 29 at her residence.
She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Lynch.
Born on December 24, 1906 in Poolesville, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Martha Heffner Reed.
Mrs. Lynch worked in nursing and real estate and enjoyed traveling. She loved her vegetable garden and especially loved looking after her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is her daughter, Catherine L. Sadler and husband Robert of Pennsylvania, grandchildren; Larry Sadler, Melinda Sadler, Marion Haupt, Janice Boismenu and husband Paul, Darlene Arnsparger and husband Russell, Charlie Sadler and wife Robin, great grandchildren; David Haupt, Heather Lunsberg, Katie Sadler, Joanne Ferro, Mark Ferro, Jennifer Sadler, Christine Windsor, Timmy Sadler, Nick Boismenu, Alex Boismenu and her great great grandchild, Shannon Lunsberg.
She will also be remembered by Lynn Melvin, Dave Haupt, Elaine Heffner, Stan and Dottie Nicholson and her caregivers, Lisa Bradley and Vada Williams.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday April 2nd and Thursday April 3rd from 7-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday April 4th at the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 116 E. 2nd. Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
Interment will be in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church.

Miss Sara Elizabeth Conlon

Sara E. Conlon, 77, of Washington, DC., died on Friday March 21, 2003 at her residence in Washington, DC.
Born on December 24, 1925 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Laura B Wessells Conlon, Sr.
Miss Conlon was a long time educator and teacher.
Surviving are her two sisters, Laura Jamison and Mary Ware both of Adamstown and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday March 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, MD. A luncheon will follow the mass.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials and Tributes Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216
Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Carol Ann Shanahan

Carol A. Shanahan, 79, of Gaithersburg, died on Friday March 14, 2003 at the Montgomery Village Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Gaithersburg.
Born on March 19, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen Bredell Schumacher.
Surviving are her two children, Colleen Brown of Barnesville, Mike Shanahan of Brunswick and three grandchildren, Alison, Michael and Lauren Brown all of Barnesville.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Arrangements by Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville.

Mr. Harold C. Allen

Harold Carlton Allen, 54, of Dickerson, died on June 15, 2003 at his residence.
Born on August 25, 1948 in Abington, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Eleanor G. Allen of Boyertown, Pennsylvania and the late John C. Allen.
Surviving besides his mother are his children; Christopher Allen of New Jersey, Jennifer Utan of Arizona, two brothers; Robert and John Allen both of Pennsylvania, his fiancée, Laurie Jean Leemaster of Dickerson, her daughter Denise Jean Price and granddaughter Brittney Jean Price
A memorial service will be held at 5pm on Thursday June 19 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD . Rev. Joe Ivey of the Barnesville Baptist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Contact of Burlington County, P.O. Box 333, Moorestown, NJ 08057.

Mr. Larry Ross Bupp

Larry R. Bupp, 60, of Poolesville, MD, died on Sunday June 15, 2003 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD.
He was the loving husband of Jane Elizabeth Bupp.
Born on January 24, 1943 in Washington, DC, he was the son of Grace R. Bupp of Rockville, MD and the late Ross P. Bupp.
Mr. Bupp was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Poolesville, a volunteer at Poolesville Elementary and after retirement he worked as a host at Bassett's restaurant in Poolesville.
Surviving besides his wife and mother are his children; Michael Bupp of Poolesville, MD, Laurie Oyer of Poolesville, MD, Robert Bupp of Churchville, MD, Stephanie Miltimore of Monrovia, MD, Bryan Bupp and Matthew Bupp both of Poolesville, MD, three sisters; Lorene Irving of Timonium, MD, Diane Shell of Poolesville, MD, Elizabeth Bupp of Charlestown, SC and his grandchildren; Austin Bupp, Luke Stone, Nicloe, Kelly and Trevor Stottlemyer, Bradley and Christopher Oyer, Corinne and Christopher Bupp and Rachel Bupp.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4pm on Wednesday June 18 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 20110 Fisher Ave., Poolesville, MD. Following the service the family will receive friends at the Memorial United Methodist Church Hall, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Poolesville Elementary PTA, Larry Bupp Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 958, Poolesville, MD 20837.

Mr. Luther S. "Grandpappy" Johnson

Luther S. "Grandpappy" Johnson, 86, of Inwood, West Virginia, died on Saturday June 14, 2003 at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, West Virginia.
He was the husband of Blanche V. Johnson.
Born on June 28, 1916 in Lewisburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Kenos and Rosa Viers Johnson.
Surviving besides his wife are 2 stepdaughters, 7 brothers, 4 sisters, 3 granddaughters, 4 step grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley June Johnson.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday June 17 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, Maryland where funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 18 at 11am.
Interment will be in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, Maryland.

Mr. Chandresh S. Patel

Services for Chandresh S. Patel will be held on Friday June 13, 2003 starting at 11:00am at the funeral home.

Mrs. Isabel J. Clough

Isabel Jean Clough, 78, textile artist and teacher, died at home of a heart ailment June 1.
Born in Port Huron, Michigan, Mrs. Clough and her husband settled in the D.C. metro area after World Warr II, raising their family in Rockville and Darnestown, MD.
As long standing members of Twinbrook Baptist Church in Rockville, the Clough family contributed to the founding and growth of this congregation.
As award-winning rug braider and rug hooker, Mrs. Clough taught those traditional art forms to a new generation of textile artists.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Henry H. Clough, Sr. of Darnestown; three children, Henry H. Clough, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona, Candice Clough of Germantown, MD, and Camy Clough and her husband Larry Fox of Hyattsville, MD and grandchildren Kate and Michael Fox also of Hyattsville, MD.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Twinbrook Baptist Church, at the corner of Twinbrook Pkwy. and Old Baltimore Rd. (Rt. 28) in Rockville, MD (301-424-6524). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Twinbrook Baptist Church.

Mr. Homer L. Thomas

Homer L. Thomas, 89, of Poolesville, Maryland, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, died on Wednesday May 28, 2003 in Poolesville.
Surviving is one brother, Charles Thomas, Jr. of Texas.
Mr. Thomas was a former professor of archaeology at the University of Missouri.
Along with publishing many books on archaeology he received awards in Scotland, England, Denmark and Germany for his findings in the field of archaeology.
Services are private.
