Evelyn C. Lambert

Mrs. Evelyn C. Lambert, 90, of Germantown, died on Friday July 23, 2004 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
She was the wife of the late James C. Lambert who died in 1994.
Born on May 21, 1914 in Poolesville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Luhn Cubitt.
She and her husband and 9-month-old daughter, Rebecca, moved to a farm in Germantown in 1940 and proceeded to farm for 20 years. After leaving the farm, she was a substitute teacher and a waitress and cook at the Germantown Store. Eventually, she became employed by the post office and retired in 1979 after 21 years of service as assistant postmaster.
When able, she enjoyed gardening and reading. The greatest joy for her was her family.
Surviving are 5 children; Rebecca "Becky" of California, Patricia "Pat" of Germantown, James "Jim" and wife Mary of Poolesville, Donald and wife Rhonda, Darryl and wife Debbie all of Mt. Airy, one brother, Donald and wife Kathryn of Rockville, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Francis "Buzz" and one sister, Shirley Norris.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday July 27 from 6-9 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), hiltonfh.com, Barnesville, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 28 at 11 AM.
Bearers will be her sons Jim, Donald and Darryl, grandsons Michael, Todd and David.
Interment will be in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.

Idella Jane Leaman

Mrs. Idella J. Leaman, 86, of Boyds, died on Monday July 19 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
She was the wife of the late John U. Leaman, Jr., who died in 1993.
Born in Barton, Maryland, located in Allegany County, she was the daughter of the late Nancy Ellen Bittinger and Jesse Kifer.
Although Mom had a limited formal education, her strong desire to be a productive person inspired her to be competent at many vocations; wife, mother, friend, gardener, floral designer to name a few. She was an excellent cook and knew about herbs, caning chairs, refinishing furniture, and thing too numerous to mention. Her homemade soap and furniture polish were legendary. She believed that if a person wanted to do something bad enough, all they had to do was apply themself and they could do it.
Everything about life was precious to her. She loved the Lord and saw Him in everything. She had a way of making everything about life seem better; just being around her raised your spirits. Anyone who knew her is a better person for it.
She loved her family more than life itself.
She is survived by her 7 children and their families; Jane Dassen of Gaithersburg, Margaret Leaman of Idaho, John Leaman and William Leaman both of Germantown, Daniel Leaman of Boyds, Patricia Phelps of Frederick, Denise Leaman of Boyds; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She had been "Mom" to many others.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday July 23 and Saturday July 24 from 5-7 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109) hiltonfh.com. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday July 26 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds, MD 20841. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank her doctor, Hector Asuncion and the ICU nursing staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital for the loving care provided to our mother.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boyds Presbyterian Church or the Care-Net Pregnancy Center of Frederick, 707 Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

Aristaldo C. Castaneda

Mr. Aristaldo Castaneda, 86, of Poolesville, formerly of Cuba, died on July 14, 2004 at the Casey House in Rockville. Services are private.

Delores Marie Archer

Mrs. Delores M. Archer, 84, of Gaithersburg died on July 1, 2004. Services were private.

Edward Kingston Pickrell, Jr.

Mr. Edward K. Pickrell, Jr., 70, of Boyds, died on Monday November 29, 2004 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Frederick, after a long illness.
Born on July 4, 1934 in Boyds, he was the son of the late Edward K. Pickrell, Sr. and Beulah Shry Pickrell.
Mr. Pickrell attended college at Montgomery Junior College and Cornell University. He served in the United States Marine Corps from September 1952 to September 1955 with the Marine Corps Air Wing VFM 211 in the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 9862 in Gaithersburg, as well as the Marine Corps Association VMF 211.
Mr. Pickrell had previously worked at Fairchild Space and Defense Company as a Logistics Administrator as well as a technical writer for major defense and aerospace programs. He was a "lover of nature" and enjoyed reading books of all types on many subjects. His writing and works were numerous. Mr. Pickrell was a Protestant. He took pride in perfection and the preservation of things of the past. His knowledge of subjects was incredible.
He is survived by one brother, Paxton E. Pickrell and wife Beverly Ann of Mt. Airy. He shall be fondly remembered by two nieces, Justina Sun Mayoki and husband Raymond of Bethesda and Christina Lynn Pickrell of Mt. Airy. He will also be remembered by lifelong friends Douglas and Flo Burnette.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Pickrell Sun.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday December 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, where funeral services will be held on Thursday December 2 at 11 AM.
Rev. Merritt Ednie of the Boyds Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Interment will be in the Leeds Episcopal Church cemetery, in Markham, VA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902.

Walter Harry Kitts, Sr.

Mr. Walter "Walt" H. Kitts, Sr., 62, of Dickerson, died on Wednesday November 24 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.
Born on November 14, 1942 in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Frank and Virginia White Kitts.
Surviving are his children; Walter H. Kitts, Jr. and wife Theresa of Dickerson, Clarence D. Kitts of Olney, step-sons; Charles E. Cooper of Sharpsburg, Harold Heavner of Dickerson, his brothers and sisters; Wardy Kitts, Florence Claggett, Ruthie Kitts, Susan Ogle, David Kitts, Nyoka Kitts, six grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He will also be remembered by his close companion and friend, Patricia Sanbower of Dickerson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Kitts.
Family will receive friends on Friday November 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), hiltonfh.com, Barnesville, where funeral services will be held on Saturday November 27 at 11 AM.
Interment will be in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.

Daniel Paul Sivert

Mr. Daniel P. Sivert, 52, of Boyds, MD, died suddenly due to an auto accident on Friday November 19 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
He was the husband of the late Bette Dahl Sivert.
Born on July 25, 1952 in Baltimore, he was the son of Mary Sivert of Florida and Austin Sivert of Boyds.
Danny was the owner of The Danny Sivert Company, Inc. that he founded 31 years ago.
Surviving besides his parents are three children; Alex, Donny and Savannah all of Boyds, his brother and three sisters; Patricia Pesatvro of Arnold, MD, Barbara Sivert of Florida, Thomas Sivert of Nevada and Carol Sarge of Virginia. He will also be remembered by his close companion, Carole Gibson of Olney, MD.
A memorial service celebrating Danny's life will be held at 9AM on Wednesday November 24th at the Church of the Nazarene, 8921 Warfield Road, Gaithersburg, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Sivert Family Scholarship Fund, c/o Damascus Community Bank, 26500 Ridge Rd., P.O. Box 1, Damascus, MD 20872 or the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902. Arrangements handled by Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville, MD

Franklin D. Gordon

Mr. Franklin D. Gordon, 71, of Silver Spring, died on Saturday November 13 at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney.
He was the husband the late Susie Gordon.
Born on March 25, 1933 in Culpeper, Virginia, he was the son of the late Harry and Hester Gordon.
Surviving are his children; Linda, Frank, Mary, Sharon, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dale.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday November 18 at the Monocacy cemetery, located at the corner of Rt. 28 and Hunter Rd. in Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to help with funeral expenses.

Earl William Reed

Mr. Earl W. Reed, 81, of Boyds, died on Monday November 15, 2004 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
He was the husband of the late Ethel Reed.
Born on August 18, 1923 in Gaithersburg, he was the son of the late Herman and Mary Arnold Reed.
Surviving are two children; Robert Reed and wife Betty of Libertytown, Wanda Smith and husband Jim of Michigan, two brothers; Pat and Bennie Reed, three grandchildren; Kim, Sandi, Shannon, three great grandchildren; Samantha, Brandon, Elizabeth and a special friend and companion, Regina Walls of Boyds.
Family will receive friends on Thursday November 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville .
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday November 19 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds. Interment will be in Germantown Baptist Church cemetery, Germantown.

Suzanne Palko

Mrs. Suzanne Palko, 57, of Clarksburg, MD, formerly of Toms River, NJ, died on Wednesday November 3, 2004 at the home of her daughter, Christine, in Boyds, MD.
She was the wife of Kenneth Palko.
Born on December 11, 1946 in Jersey City, she was the daughter of Patricia Dwyer of Clarksburg, MD, formerly of Toms River, NJ and the late Robert Corson.
Surviving besides her husband and mother are two children; Christine DeReggi of Boyds, MD, Michael Mason of NJ and three grandchildren, Arielle, Gabrielle and John DeReggi.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday November 6, 2004 at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground RD., Boyds, MD.
Rev. Merritt Ednie will officiate.
Hilton Funeral Home of Barnesville, MD handled the services.

Ruth Irene Lees

Mrs. Ruth I. Lees, "Ruthie", died on Tuesday October 26, 2004 at her residence in Germantown, Maryland.
She was the wife of George E. Lees, Jr.
Born on November 29, 1935 in Cumberland, Maryland, she is the daughter of George Snyder and the late Mary Sprig Snyder.
Mrs. Lees started work for the Montgomery County Police Department as a Crossing Guard in 1974 and then served as Office Services Coordinator in 1984 for a total of 30 years service.
Surviving besides her husband and father are her two children; Brian Lees of Germantown, Maryland and Sharon Fatzie of Ijamsville, Maryland. She is also survived by one sister, Jane Snyder Trail of Cumberland, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held on Friday October 29 at 7 pm with family receiving friends one hour prior at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, Maryland . Interment will be at 12 noon on Saturday October 30 at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902
