Patricia M. Van Wyen
EASTON - Patricia M. Van Wyen of Easton died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998 at her home. She was 69.
Born in Long Island, N.Y. on May 1, 1928, she was the daughter of Andrew and Jessie Lafferrandre Kennedy.
She was a graduate of Sayville High School, Sayville, N.Y. in 1945. On Sept. 25, 1947 she married
George F. Van Wyen and they made their home on Long Island where she worked as a legal secretary at the Green, Murray and Dagher law firm. They moved to Easton in 1989 and Iowa in 1993, returning to Easton in 1996.
She was a member of Trinity Cathedral, Easton, and past member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Sayville, N.Y.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Van Wyen is survived by three sons, Robert G. Van Wyen of Sayville, N.Y., David L. Van Wyen of Grayson, Ga. and Thomas K. Van Wyen of Willow Street, Pa.; two brothers, Andrew Kennedy of Pickins, S.C. and Robert Kennedy of Sayville, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Trinity Cathedral, Easton.
Burial was in Union cemetery, Sayville, N.Y., on Friday, Feb. 6, following services at St. Ann's Episcopal Church.

John H. Beck Sr.
DENTON - John H. Beck Sr. of Denton died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998 at Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. He was 84.
He was born in Marydel, Md. on Aug. 13, 1913.
He attended public schools in Caroline County and was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Marydel.
He was employed by Con Rail in Wilmington, Del., Esskay in Cordova, as a foreman at Campbell Soup Co. in Chestertown, and by Saulsbury Brothers in Ridgely.
He married
Mary Adams.
Mr. Beck is survived by eight children, Doris Scott and Jacqueline Beck, both of Dover, Del., John Beck Jr. of Denton, Mary E. Jones of Bridgeville, Del., James Adams of Chattanooga, Tenn., Frances Colbourn of Salisbury, Joseph Adams of Easton, and Charles Adams of Baltimore; a brother, Frank Beck Sr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Delores Beck, is deceased.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at Mt. Zion AME Church in Marydel.
Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.

Geneva B. Brown
GRASONVILLE - Geneva Beatrice Brown of Grasonville died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 79.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1919.
She is survived by six sons, Oliver "Jackie", George, James, Charles, Clarence and David; three daughters, Mary, Doris "Dumpy" Brown and Vivian Lynch. Nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Bowser; one godson, Bruce Boardley; a surrogate daughter, Frances Mills; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Bryan's United Methodist Church, Grasonville. Friends may call at the church on Friday, Feb. 6 from 6 until 8 p.m.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Thomas E. Krehnbrink
CHESTERTOWN - Thomas Edward Krehnbrink, formerly of Baltimore and Pasadena, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998 in Chestertown. He was 76.
Born in Detroit, he moved to Baltimore as a young child. He graduated from Baltimore City College and attended Loyola College in Baltimore before joining the U.S. Marine Corps where he was commissioned in 1943. He served as a Corsair fighter pilot in the Pacific Theater and was awarded two Air medals and the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct when his aircraft carrier, USS Bunker Hill, was nearly destroyed by Japanese suicide planes. A reservist after World War II, he was recalled during the Korean Conflict. In 1953 he was retired form the Marine Corps with the rank of major.
Following active duty, he entered the paint industry, specializing in corrosion control, first with the Glidden Co. and later at Budeke's.
Mr. Krehnbrink was well known in the greater Baltimore area for his association with the paint and coatings industry for over 35 years. In 1987 he retired as vice president of Budeke's Paints, where he had been instrumental in the company's expansion efforts. He was a recognized authority in corrosion control and active with the National Association of Corrosion Engineers.
He was an avid yachtsman. He lived on the Magothy River for over thirty years before moving to Heron Point in Chestertown in 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Marie Kirwan, of 53 years; one daughter, Kathleen Kirwan Krehnbrink Polk of Annapolis; one son, Thomas Edward Krehnbrink Jr. of Arnold; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Chestertown.
Burial was be private.
Marie P. Stubbs
GREENSBORO - Marie P. Stubbs died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 90.
Born on Dec. 14, 1907 in Greensboro, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Cora Hughes Porter.
Her husband Elmer Stubbs is deceased. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Ronald E. Stubbs Sr. of Greensboro; four daughters, Phyllis Harris and Dorothea Lee Collison, both of Greensboro, Janice S. Haines of Henderson, and Sandra S. Roop of Harrington, Del.; one brother, Wilton Porter of Seaford, Del.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at the Fleegle-Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro.
Burial was in Greensboro cemetery.
Howard R. Whitby
ST. MICHAELS - Howard Richard Whitby of St. Michaels, formerly of Turnersville, N.J., died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998 at Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 68.
Born July 2, 1929 in Queen Anne, he was the son of the late Raymond and Sarah Elizabeth MacMullen Whitby.
He attended Tri-County High School before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1953. He was a self-employed landscaper, retiring in 1988 after 24 years.
He was a former member of the Whitman Square Volunteer Fire Company, Turnersville, N.J.; the Chesapeake Classic Car Club; Delaware Mustang Club; American Legion, FRA Branch 57; and a lifetime member of D.A.V.
Mr. Whitby is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Marie E. Todd; two sons, Charles H. Whitby of Mesa, Ariz. and Edward R. Whitby of Deptford, N.J.; four daughters, Patricia A. Whitby, Linda W. Auxer and Debra W. Smith, all of Turnersville, N.J., and Sandra W. Schmittinger of Glassboro, N.J.; two brothers, Edward Whitby of Ridgely and Charles Whitby of Denton; four sisters, Virginia Conley of Dover, Del., Katherine Wyatt of Wilmington, Del., Elma Bennett of St. Michaels and Julia Mason of Salisbury; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton.

Jay C.A. Witt
DENTON - Jay C.A. Witt of Denton died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998 at his home. He was 33.
Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Walter Robert Witt Sr. of Denton and Patricia Mae Clancy Crandall of Lothian.
He was a waterman and a self-employed lawn maintenance worker.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Walter R. Witt Jr. of Churchton; three sisters, Zelie R. Collison of Greensboro, Mary Jo Motier of Oceanside, Calif. and Alice E. Smith of Greensboro.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 6 at Denton Church of the Brethren, Denton.
Burial was at 1 p.m. on Friday at Mayo Memorial United Methodist Church cemetery, Mayo, Md.
