Eulalia C. Collar

Mrs. Eulalia "Sally" C. Collar, 87, of Clarksburg, died on Saturday August 2, 2008 at the Citizen's Nursing Home in Frederick.
She was the wife of the late Paul P. Collar.
Surviving are her children; Mary Collar, Stephen Collar and Kevin Collar, two sisters; Carrie Gruber, Rose Totsky, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday August 5 from 6-8 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 6 at 11 AM.
Inurnment will take place at Arlington National cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sally's name to the Alzheimer's Association, ATTN: Fund Development Office, Alzheimer's Association, National Capital Area Chapter, 11240 Waples Mill Road, Suite 402, Fairfax, VA 22030.

Elaine J. Mauser

Mrs. Elaine J. Mauser, 91, of Adamstown, Maryland died peacefully on Saturday July 19, 2008. She is survived by her husband of almost fifty-eight years, George Mauser.
Born on April 1, 1917 in Shenandoah, Iowa she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lena Mayer Jarman. A long time resident of Boyds, Maryland, she was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and charter member of the Upper Montgomery County Rural Women's Republican Club where she was co-founder of the annual Saturday Night in the Country fund raising event. Her other activities included volunteer service for the Red Cross, the Boyds Historical Society, as an election poll worker and at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital gift shop.
Her secretarial career included work for the Department of the Navy, the Atomic Energy Commission, the Department of Energy, and the Republican National Committee and as an assistant to General (Retired) Albert C. Wedemeyer.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons; Colonel (Retired) George E. Mauser and his wife Diane of Littlestown, Pennsylvania and John K. Mauser and his partner Laurie Weiss of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Dorothy Jarman, Josie Sinio, Lawrence Jarman, Staff Sergeant Edward Jarman and Ellen Jarman and her niece Susan Bernstein.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 23 from 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville .directions
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday July 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, MD with interment to follow in the church cemetery.directions

Donald Edward Ayers

Mr. Donald E. Ayers, 74, of Kennesaw, GA, and Gaithersburg, MD, on Monday, July 21, 2008.
Loving husband of Herlinde Ayers, father of Tracy Ayers of Germany, Michael Ayers of Clarksville, MD, Steven Ayers of WI, Tiffany Ayers Vogel of Barnesville, MD, brother of Virginia Collins of AZ, William Ayers of AK and grandfather of Matthew, Parisa, Adam, Alex, Donald, Charlotte and Thomas.
Raised on a farm in Nebraska, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany, where he met his wife. Don then became an avionics engineer and worked for Delta Airlines and Honeywell Inc. He loved traveling the world, visiting his grandchildren and managing his family farm in Nebraska. He loved airplanes and John Deere tractors, and always kept one eye on the weather.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 23, at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD .directions
Inurnment will take place at Arlington National cemetery at a later date.

George Antos

Mr. George Antos, 89, of Poolesville, died on Friday July 11, 2008 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Washington, DC.
He was the loving husband of Anna Antos.
Born on July 28, 1918 in Akron, Ohio he was the son of the late John and Marie Antos.
Family will be receiving friends from 5-8 PM on Monday July 14 at the Hilton Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday July 15 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 17230 Tom Fox Ave., Poolesville, MD.
Interment will be in All Souls cemetery, Germantown, MD.

Anita Menard

Mrs. Anita Menard, 94, of Clarksburg died on July 11, 2008 at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney.
Services are private.

Albert T. Jennings, Jr.

Mr. Albert T. Jennings, Jr., 90, of Bethesda, MD on July 6, 2008.
He was the loving husband of Laura Jennings, father of Christine Jennings Moreland, Cynthia Jennings Field and grandfather of Thomas Moreland, William and Caroline Field.
Mr. Jennings was a WWII veteran who served the United States Government for 31 years, which included the U.S. Army, the Military Air Transport Service and as Chief Engineer at the Foreign Buildings Office of the U.S. Department of State. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast of the Adirondack Park in upstate New York.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday July 10 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD . The family will be receiving friends at 10:30.
There will be a private burial at Boyds Presbyterian cemetery, Boyds, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation and the National Cancer Institute.

Clifford, E. Neal

Mr. Clifford E. Neal, 92 of Barnesville, went to be with his heavenly father around noon on July 5, 2008. For nearly 40 years, Cliff and his wife have lived on their farm in Barnesville, MD. There, he worked up until his very last moment as he had for the last 25 years as the proprietor of Sugarloaf Pet Gardens and for over 63 years as Corporate Account Executive for Brown & Bigelow Inc. As an Arabian horse breeder and Past President of the Sugarloaf riding club, Cliff participated in the International Horse Show. His love of horse, birds, and animals was evident to all. He received many professional sales awards and was a member of the Monocacy Lions Club for over 30 years. Cliff was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Neal and is survived by his wife, Vivian, of 70 years of marriage, his children: Dr Jack Neal of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Dr Janet Maus of Clinton, MD; and son Jerry Neal of Barnesville, MD; 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Poolesville Baptist Church at 2pm, Saturday, July 12th, 2008. Funeral arrangements are by Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville, MD.

Aida Elizabeth Vail

Mrs. Aida Elizabeth Vail, 93, passed away on October 2nd at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, MD.
She was the wife of the late Earle L. Vail, her husband for 69 years.
From 1951 until 1996, she and Earle resided on the family farm near Boyds prior to moving to Asbury Methodist Village.
In addition to raising four children and serving as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Mrs. Vail was employed as a sales associate for many years with the Hecht Company and Garfinckel's department stores. She was also a Licensed Practical Nurse. Among her patients was the renowned author Upton Sinclair.
After her retirement, she was a volunteer at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, contributing over 8, 000 hours of service, twice being named Volunteer of the Year.
Surviving are children Vernon Vail of Marion, SC, Keith Vail of Boyds, MD, Roger Vail of Columbia, MD, and Janet Vail of Washington, DC; and brothers William Barnhart of Piqua, OH, and George R. Barnhart, of Fresno, CA. Grandchildren are Steven Kelly of Glendale, AZ, Janet Kelly Goins of Columbia, SC, Vallery Vail of Mt. Airy, MD, Sandra Vail of Frederick, MD, and Tracy Pauter of Frederick, MD. Step grandchildren are Bruce Breen of San Antonio, TX, Laurie Breen of Silver Spring, MD, and Julie Breen of Hagerstown, MD. There are six great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Vail was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Olney.
The family will receive friends at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd, Barnesville, MD, on Saturday October 4th from 6 to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held at the Boyds Presbyterian Church, Boyds, on Sunday October 5th at 3 PM. Officiating will be the Rev. Mr. Merritt Ednie and the Rev. Dr. Pat Carlson. directions
Internment will follow in the Boyds Presbyterian cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, P.O. Box 280, Olney, MD 20830-0280 or the Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road, Boyds, MD 20841.

Joan B. Strawson

Mrs. Joan B. Strawson, 74, of Aberdeen, NC, formerly of Adamstown, died on Monday September 29, 2008 at the First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.
She was the loving wife of David G. Strawson. They were married in 1957.
Joan was born on March 8, 1934 in Jamestown, NY and the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Button.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters; Joan E. Strawson of NC, Anne Strawson Jacob of Virginia, Barbara Lynn Strawson of Poolesville and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday October 3 at the Darnestown Presbyterian Church, 15120 Turkey Foot Road, Darnestown, Maryland.directions
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

George A. Thompson

Dr. George A. Thompson died September 21 at his Bethesda home after a long illness. His family was at his bedside.
The Paraguayan born physician trained in Radiology at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1953 to 1958.
He was in the Radiology Staff at Surburban Hospital from January 1960 to March 1973 and then at Frederick Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 1990. Dr. Thompson was a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and a member of the AMA, the Radiological Society of NA, Maryland Radiological Society, and Frederick Medical Society.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Anne Thompson and by three children, Jorge, Sandra and Laurent and by three stepchildren, Carole, Sandra, and Gregory. He will be missed by his family and his friends.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday September 25 from 12-2PM and 6-8pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD .

Leonard A. Kidwell

Mr. Leonard "Dickie" Augustus Kidwell, 66, of Fairfield, Pa. died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008.
He was born March, 19, 1941. He was the son of the late Ernest Augustus and Dolly Rosalie Costello-Kidwell.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kidwell; five children; three brothers, James J. Kidwell, Ernest A. Kidwell and Vernon L. Kidwell; three sisters, Helen A. Owens, Thelma Hungerford and Flora C. Testerman; a very special nephew, Elmer "Bubba" O Kidwell Jr. and wife, Debbie; and many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer O Kidwell Sr., and Virgil V. Kidwell; and a sister, Margaret Clem. The viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday Sept. 22, at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd, Barnesville. Funeral services will be held immediately following the viewing, at the funeral home. Interment will take at Boyd Presbyterian Church 19901 White Ground Rd, Boyds.

Joseph W. Reid

Mr. Joseph W. Reid, 47, of Walkersville, died on Saturday September 13, 2008 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.
He was the loving husband of Cathy Reid.
Born on March 4, 1961 in Washington, DC, Joe was the son of the late Jay Herbert and Virginia Helen Galliher Reid.
Surviving besides his wife is one daughter, Monica Stevens of Walkersville, three brothers; Jack Reid of Beallsville, Jay Reid of Charlestown, WV, Jim Reid of Laurel and one sister, Cynthia Reid of Bowie.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday September 17 from 6-8 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday September 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, MD 20838.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Victor J. Pepe

Mr. Victor J. Pepe, 75, of Barnesville, Maryland, died on Saturday November 1, 2008.
Founder of Schick & Pepe Realty, then president of Senate Homes in Rockville, Victor was a proud Marine and a proud graduate of the University of Maryland, attending under the GI bill.
Born on June 22, 1933 in New York City to Italian immigrants Frank and Stella Pepe, he was
the devoted husband of Linda Pittinos Pepe of Barnesville. Beloved patriarch and generous mentor to many, he was the loving father of Christopher Pepe who pre-deceased him, Victoria Erat (David) of Rockville, and Andrea Johnson (Bobby) of Dickerson, his children from his marriage to Marie Pepe. Victor was friend and stepfather to Joel Priest and devoted uncle to his beloved nieces, Stella Fazio Mirhadi (Nader) of N. Potomac, Josephine Fazio Bacas (Terry) of Barnesville and Susan Fazio of Urbana. He was proud "Grandpa" to Adam and Chase Erat, Che and Dante Caballero, Cole and Elle Johnson, Natalie and Christina Mirhadi, and Christopher and Andrew Bacas. He was pre-deceased by his cherished sister Flora Fazio and his brother Alfonse. Victor was the dedicated steward of Stella's Dream farm and nurturer of Flora's Oak, the designated Maryland State Tree which fell in June of this year.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday November 5 from 5-8 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD directions. Prayer services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday November 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Rd., Barnesville, MD.directions Interment will follow on the family farm, "Stella's Dream", located in Barnesville.
