Virginia Ball Willard Donaldson

Mrs. Virginia Ball Willard Donaldson, 94, passed into the arms of The Lord on October 28, 2008. Virginia was born February 15, 1914, in Brunswick, MD, and spent her childhood in Poolesville, MD.
She is survived by her sons, DeWalt J. "De" Willard, of Frederick, William G. "Billy" Willard, (Mana) of Charlotte, NC and her daughter, Sarah Ann (Dave) of Gloucester, VA, nine grand-children and 25 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a number of friends at the Wildwood Bethesda Baptist Church.
The family extends its deepest appreciation and thanks to Mrs. Cecilia Mass, her caregiver in recent years. Cecilia is a dedicated professional who applies great tenderness and compassion to her patients.
Funeral services will be held at Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville, MD, at 11:30 AM Saturday, November 1, 2008, with the Reverend David Sayne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:30 AM.directions

Joel, E. Dearstyne

Mr. Joel E. Dearstyne, 65, of Germantown, MD on October 24, 2008.
He was the beloved husband of Sue Patton Dearstyne, son of Frank Dearstyne, father of Elizabeth King, James Dearstyne, brother of Richard and Christopher Dearstyne, Patricia Davisson, Mary Cecelia Jensen and grandfather of 8.
Joel was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Dearstyne and one sister, Barbara Brenon.
The family will receive friends on Monday October 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD directions.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday October 28 at Mother Seton Parish, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown, MD.directions
Interment will follow in All Souls cemetery, Germantown.

Julie Ann Briggs

Julie Ann Briggs, T.O.C., died on Sunday October 19, 2008.
Survived by her children Bill, Robert, Daniel and Julie Silver and was preceded in death by her son, Jon Silver.
She is also survived by three sisters Joyce Bladen, Mary Lou Carta, Margaret Jane Hetherington and two brothers, Michael and Joseph Carta.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday October 22 from
6-8pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday October 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18230 Barnesville Rd., P.O. Box 67, Barnesville, MD 20838 with viewing one hour prior.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Julie Ann's name to St. Mary's.

John D. Brennan

On October 10, 2008, John D. Brennan of Potomac, MD, the beloved
husband of Debby and remarkable father of Sarah, Zachary, and Cody
passed away. He is also survived by his sisters Diana Ullman and
Cathleen Novak and his brothers Thomas and Michael. Memorial service will be held at Temple Sinai, 3100 Military Rd., NW Washington, DC on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2 p.m.directions

Mary C. Barr

Mrs. Mary C. Barr, 73, of Barnesville, died peacefully Wednesday May 28, 2008.
She was the wife of the late Donald P. Barr.
Born on December 22, 1934 in Frederick she was the daughter of the late Austin and Sarah Oden.
Mrs. Barr was a bus attendant for the Montgomery County Schools before her retirement.
Surviving is her son, Timothy Barr, two sisters, Lilly Esworthy, Betty Stull, two brothers, Austin Oden, Dennis Oden, two grandsons, Matthew and Daniel Barr and two great granddaughters, Kylie and Kaylin Barr.
The family will receive friends on Friday May 30 from 6-8pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will be held on Saturday May 31 at 11am.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.

Robert M. Henderson

Mr. Robert M. Henderson, on Friday May 23, 2008 at the Country Living Nursing Home in Poolesville, MD. He is survived by a brother, William, a sister, Barbara and 6 nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 20100 Fisher Ave., Poolesville on Sunday June 1, 2008 at 4:00PM

Michael J. Kirschbaum

Mr. Michael J. Kirschbaum, 49, of Poolesville, MD died on Wednesday May 14, 2008.
He was the loving husband of Kathy Kirschbaum.
Michael was an avid participant in the "Ride to the Wall".
Surviving besides his wife are his children, Kristyn Kirschbaum, Ryan Costantino, his father, Michael E. Kirschbaum, 2 sisters, Mary Fiumara, Kate Vivian and one brother, John Kirschbaum.
Family will receive friends on Sunday May 18 from 6-8 at the Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 17230 Tom Fox Ave., Poolesville, MD where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 19 at 11am. Interment will follow in All Souls cemetery, Germantown, MD.

Thelma J. DeFriece

Mrs. Thelma J. DeFriece, 54, of Jefferson, formerly of Boyds, died peacefully on Thursday May 8, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on November 7, 1953 in Middleburg, VA she was the daughter of Julia Burgess of Frederick and the late Halldane Burgess.
Thelma was an avid gardener, member of the Monocacy Garden Club and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving besides her mother is her son, Jack Dean DeFriece, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Jefferson, two brothers, Robert Burgess and wife Linda, Walter Burgess and two grandchildren, Morgan and Mason. She will also be remembered by her close friends Tammy Giusti of Middletown and Meg Zoberbier of Poolesville.
The family will receive friends on Monday May 12 from 6-9 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 13 at 11 am.directions
Bearers will be Jack DeFriece, Jr., Maynard Burdette, III, Jason Burdette, Brad Baker, Dean Blitzel and Ubaldo Gallardo.
Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Frederick.

Mrs. Ida E. Bledsoe, 97, of Upper Marlboro died on Tuesday May 6, 2008.
Services were private.

Helen H. Schaeffer

Mrs. Helen H. Schaeffer, 85, of Poolesville, died peacefully on Monday April 21 at the Wilson Health Care Center in Gaithersburg.
She was the loving wife of William L. Schaeffer.
Helen was born on March 18, 1923 in Weaverville, NC .
Surviving besides her husband are her two sons, Donald W. Schaeffer of Poolesville, Michael Schaeffer of California, one sister, Marjorie A. Parsley of Catonsville and two nieces, Mary Kavanagh of Ellicott City and Carolyn Irvin of Martinsburg, WV.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday April 25th at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD where the family will be receiving friends one hour prior.
Interment will follow in Monocacy cemetery, Beallsville, MD.

Louise R. Cook

Mrs. Louise R. Cook, 90, of Comus, formerly of Illinois, died on Friday April 18 at the Sacred Heart Nursing Center in Hyattsville.
She was the wife of John Cook.
Mother of Carol Breeden of Comus and Ed Cook of Oregon.
Services will be handled by Daleiden Mortuary in Aurora, Illinois.

Bettie B. Arnold

Mrs. Bettie Belle Arnold, "Bertha", 72, of Dickerson, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at her residence.
She was the loving wife of Carroll Arnold.
Born August 28, 1935, in Rockville, she was the daughter of the late John Upton Whipp, Sr. and Bessie Belle Whipp.
Bettie worked many years for Safeway and then as a resident manager throughout Montgomery County. Bettie then spent several years caring for children. Whether it be a family member child, or not, she was "Grandma Bertha". She never turned down a chance to care for a child. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved coming up with nicknames for them all.
Bettie was a former member and Senior Regent of the Loyal Order of the Women of the Moose. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Bettie liked to play cards, bowl and play bingo. Bettie loved country music. She would never miss an episode of The Grand 0l' Opry or the Country Music Awards. She could sit for hours listening to the radio, watching the television or reading the "Country Weekly" magazine.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Upton Eugene Monroe and daughter in-law Betty Monroe of Rocky Mount, NC, her daughter, Debra Jane Kidwell and son in-law Elmer Kidwell, Jr. of Dickerson, daughter in-law Shirley Monroe of Westminster, one brother John Upton Whipp, Jr. and sister in-law Shirley Whipp of Rockville, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by her son John Edward Monroe, daughter Thersea Darlene Monroe, great-granddaughter Kaci Lynn Shaw, sister Ruth Jane Selby, and brother in-law, William Selby.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday April 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road (Rt. 109), Barnesville, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 16 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Boyds Presbyterian Church cemetery, Boyds.

Raymond C. Regnier

Mr. Raymond C. Regnier "Ray", 80, of Adamstown, died peacefully on Friday April 11 at his residence.
He was the loving husband of Joan Regnier.
Born on September 20, 1927 in Michigan, he was the son of the late Celsus A. and Louise Regnier.
Ray served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the 4 County Lions Club in Mt. Airy, BPO Elks life member, American Legion, Eagles and Moose.
He held his private pilot's license and enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and boating. Of special importance to Ray was his wife who was his "One Life One Love" and his family.
Surviving besides his wife are his eight children; Charles Regnier of Adamstown, Nancy Lee of Urbana, David Regnier of Adamstown, Donna Keaton of Corinth, TX, Richard Regnier of Frederick, James Regnier of Fairfield, PA, Mary Ebbert of Mt. Airy, Frances Webb of Winchester, VA, three brothers; Bob, Dave and Bernie Regnier, two sisters; Ann Bremiller, Madeleine Minando, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; Rita Doyle, Fran Sullivan and one granddaughter, Ashley Nicole.
The family will receive friends on Monday April 14 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday April 15 at St. Joseph's on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Buckeystown, MD 21703.
Interment will follow in Resthaven cemetery, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Ray's name to St. Joseph's on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society.www.cancer.org
